- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Immigrant song is a great cover of the old Zep tune.

- Reznor and Ross

I love the Book, Movie, and now I'm in love with the Music. I'm a huge David Fincher fan so when I heard that he was going to Remake The Girl With The Draqon Tattoo I was so Excited!!! I loved the score for The Social Network so when this movie was announced all I could think was Trent and Atticus better do the score to make this movie perfect...and the movie is

- Great movie!

Don't write too many reviews on here but the opening song/scene had me captivated and bewitched. The rest of the soundtrack is pretty darn good too. Incredible movie!

- Immigrant Song

Great Cover with Karen O!

- great

love the remix of immigrant song

- blissfully dark

Trent Reznor should write every movie score.

- An excellent soundtrack

I was immediately drawn to the Immigrant Song cover when I heard it on the trailer, I think its a wonderful rendition. Shortly after I started listening to the rest of the soundtrack and the ambiance created is relaxing yet haunting and I love letting it play in the background as I study or work. An excellent effort from one of my favorite producers (Trent Reznor). Highly recommend!

- Song review

The track, "Is your love strong enough?" stands alone, that song is beautiful.

- the girl with the dragon tattoo

music made incredibly tactile...it slithers through your veins as the characters and plot meld into one haunting enterprise....utterly disturbing, boastfully phenomenal

- Outstanding ...

1st score I've ever downloaded ...

- Agaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnn?

Once again Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross get away with murder.I haven't seen the movie, but just from seeing the preview I'm sure this music is very fitting for it.So in that light......job well done. What I hate is the fact that it is yet ANOTHER extremely simplistic soundtrack, that I KNOW FOR A FACT plenty of people can pull off, including me!The scores and compositions are the equate of me holding down a synthesizer key in Logic Pro,adding in a couple of spacey sounds, and getting high praise for it.....this is easy stuff people, trust me I know! This soundtrack sounds NO DIFFERENT than some Indie electronic artists' soundtrack, just without the vocals.Just like the Social Network album, they didnt even really change moods!

- Yes!

An Amazing Novel/Movie, with one my favorite musicians of ALL TIME composing the film score; does it get better than this?! Nope!

- Belfegore - All That I Wanted

was in the film but is missing from the soundtrack. Legal issues I'm betting. Great soundtrack to a very cool movie (minus the glaring product placement)

- Deceiving

Can you say 'score'? Not much of a soundtrack.

- Disappointed and Unimpressed

The populace liked Reznor when he was on the drugs. Listening to this 'soundtrack' is like listening to a recovery patient moaning in his bed--every now and again he'll hiss or make some perturbing noise that is almost music...but isn't. Reznor has expired along with his passion for music. His work has become redundant as his need to scream his political opinions in what used to be golden techno. Now the gold has turned brass and every human ear it touches turns green. Come on, man. I used to be one of your biggest fans. It pains me to watch this downward spiral you've put yourself in. I am thoroughly disappointed in this soulless album. Maybe someday Reznor will find his fire again, but it is not through so-called soundtracks.

- Immigrant song!

I love the Immigrant song!

- Jog

When I heard Fincher had him cover "Immigrant Song" i was all like *face palm* Fincher has a dynamic aesthetic sense with a vulgarian flavor which leads to some great "higher trash" as one critic called another recent film (Drive), but Trent, even in his subversive approach, seemed to refined to cover an overexposed Led Zeppelin song. I have to admit though, it works. Rez was reluctant to do it but it's very appropriate as an credit into, and very much in the films creepy teutonic-ish spirit (: dont jog to the track though. Overdrive engaged******** I'm a walking impact injury.

- Dark, electronic and creepy!

By far, this is the best soundtrack I've ever heard. When you think "Wow, I love the soundtrack! I have to get this!" during the film, it's really good. Not many movie soundtracks have that much of an impact that they stand out on their own. This one is one of the few that do.

- Thirty-nine Tracks

Such a deal! Excellent, immersive Reznor music. Better each time through

- THE MOVIE IS AWESOME

Sorry Swedish fans but Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander is far better than Noomi Rapace's portrayal of the character. And the American version of the movie really stayed as close to the book as possible!!!! AWESOME MOVIE, LOVE IT....THE BEST MOVIE ALL YEAR!!!!!

- Quake

Trent Reznor's true soundtrack genius first came to light with the soundtrack to id Software's computer game Quake. If you like NIN and the soundtracks to Dragon Tattoo and Social Network, check out the Quake soundtrack. The songs are even better alone in a dark room.

- Awsome

Really dark and mysterious. It reminds me of the "Hanna" soundtrack

- The most beautiful cover I’ve heard

“Is your love strong enough” is beautiful. I’ve loved this song by Bryan Ferry for decades and this version breathes new and fresh life into an already amazing song. Amazing, haunting and respectful as a cover... thank you. 🕯

- Very Good Soundtrack and Movie

Amazing soundtrack to a masterpiece of a movie. 2 hrs and 40 minutes of pure action and excitement. Rooney Mera and Daniel Craig make the perfect duo in a film. The American version was way better than the Swedish version.

- Great that some oldies were included

AlI I know is the "Is Your Love Strong Enough" song is a pretty cool revamp of the Bryan Ferry original from the the 1985 movie "Legend". The rest of the soundtrack is interesting. I like it.

- It is ok

Not the best

- Never disappointed by Trent Reznor!

My boyfriend is a serious record collector and has an extensive knowledge of noise and industrial music. I was listening to this when he got home last night and he was blown away that I found something he liked and hadn't heard yet! I absolutely cannot wait to hear this on vinyl!!!

- Magnifique

Better than Social Network. TRez really has a way with noize. Splendid.

- Best soundtrack ever!

People who are saying you can't listen to the rest of the songs without watching the movie are idiots. It's called ambient music look it up usually no words just sound. Best soundtrack I ever heard!

- Reznor channels Miller

As I tracked through this before deciding to purchase, I couldn't help but think of the excellent soundtracks to Myst and Riven. This is a bit darker and beautiful but the mood intensity and ambiance is awesome.

- Overestimated !!

I'm surprised it has so many high reviews , u will find these songs just over extended and repeating mostly same beat from start to end .

- Wow

Trent and Atticus do it again. This has to be award winning.

- Not Impressed

I'm not totally sure why everyone seems to love this score so much. A great film score should not just provide an aural background for the viewer/listener, but to also accentuate the visual component and in many cases stand out as a major feature. While the score that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have From a musical standpoint, not a whole lot is going on; just a lot of drawn out long tones that aren't even in a recognizable pitch ("Perihelion", "With The Flies", "Hidden In Snow" - essentially two thirds of the whole score). If I had a mind to, I could recreate 80% of this "score" using my keyboard and it's pitch/modulation control. On the whole, It is a very minimalist score featuring a large amount of repetitive phrases, which I suppose is barely acceptable in the context of the film, but there is hardly anything (read: nothing) interesting to listen to. Even the more upbeat tracks such as "A Thousand Details" feature too much repetition for the listener to really invest much attention in. Another important feature of film scores is recurring themes, which help to identify specific characters, locations, or the like - again, this major facet is conspicuously missing. In my opinion, the use of leitmotifs (specific recurring themes for individual characters) would have been an excellent choice in this movie, but the artistic vision of the "composers" is clearly different than my own. To play the devil's advocate, one thing the "score" does well is capture much of the feeling of the novel rather than the movie. I felt that the novel really brought forth a feeling of isolation and being cut off from most of society. With the constant droning and manipulation of long tone modulations, you can really almost imagine a journalist stuck in the backwoods in the middle of winter, going stir crazy and working on a mystery that apparently has no solution to it. IF I were to listen to this soundtrack, I would likely only listen to it while reading the original novel. Overall, this soundtrack is highly subpar for a movie score, and I do not recommend purchasing it. Besides, this isn't even music - it's honestly just noise. However, if your tastes are different from mine, and you disagree with what I've said, go ahead and waste your 12 bucks.

- Love the Bryan Ferry remake...

"Is Your Love Strong Enough" by Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music fame is one of my all-time favorite, extremely overlooked by most 80s pop songs. I think it appeared in the US release soundtrack for the 80s film Legend (you know the fantasy flick starring a young Tom Cruise as hero)....anyway, such a great song. I was suprised and SO happy to hear this original take on the song and turn it into something so new. Love it. The whole album is worthwhile, but this song especially.

- Superb!!!

Saw the movie.. Amazzzing film, I've never seen or really heard of the books or the Swedish versions of the movie. As soon as I walked out of the theater I got this soundtrack. The music is so haunting but draws u in as well. And I just watched the Swedish version and that was an excellent film too. Can not wait to see the 2nd installment, if and when they make it.

- It's love and hate

You can enjoy a good number of tracks on here if you found yourself ever wandering back to the ghosts release. I happen to enjoy ambient b/c of having randomly acquiring aphex twin's selected ambient works volume 2 and after not liking it for having no clue about what ambient was and being used to his general stuff which may as well at times be like reznor but I found a real nice enjoyment of it when I later went back to it. So if you like ambient music this is worth 10.00 if you aren't sure then you may want to sample it on YouTube. I would hope reznor can dig up more of an old school nin style of music just without the lyrics. That would be what fans should expect from him in a score and he did it a little more in the social network I guess.

- So good

This OST it's beyond of words..it's amazing and dark! Perfect!!!!!

- Awesome, as usual.

Worth every penny. Every song is a true masterpiece, blending Trent Reznor's love for electronic ambience and classic film score elements with huge twists made in the formula. See the movie too, the soundtrack goes along perfectly.

- Love

Best Immigrant Song cover I've ever heard

- Great

Reznor & Ross killed it with the social network and same with the girl with a dragon tattoo. Ominous sounds and sequences that set the mood. I've always felt a great soundtrack should never have words, because the dialouge should be the lyrics. I was sad to see that Reznor didn't win back to back original score. And to re guy who said it's waste of 12 bucks? Get real guy, 30+ plus for 12 bucks is a deal where in from...people this days Great movie by the way, soundtrack really captures the intriguing and twisted story.

- Is your love strong

Get Bryan ferry the real singer . He’s the real guy you all mess it up

- fu*king incredible

one of the best soundtracks to ever be composed, seriously. since the moment i heard "she reminds me of you" i was hooked. honestly i've listened to at least half of this score every single day for the past year. i write my best stuff to it, i have to watch out when i listen to it depending on my mood; meaning, it can facilitate some dark thoughts in me--it is that powerful. now, everyone's different, but i take my music very seriously, it affects me in a real way, and this just gets me every time.

- A Supurb Ambient Score

This is the perfect example of a musical score which doesn't go overt. Outside of the song used for the credits, there isn't a particularly memorable theme. But all of the songs are unique and fit into the film well. I use this soundtrack for studying since it's perfect background music. It's a masterful musical score for a masterful film.

- Ominous

Over all a terrific score Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are such pure artist The immigrant song cover threw me off at start of film, it's an "okay" cover but I still think led zeppelin's music is like the Mona Lisa just admire it don't reinvent it

- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

This is one of my personal favorite Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross soundtracks. This soundtrack has a great flow, track after track. Also, this soundtrack has great vocals, great drum solos, electric piano solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next soundtrack and original score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

- Lux aeterna

Why isn't lux aeterna on this sound track

- if trent isn't going to be viscerally angry any more…...

…..I'd certainly rather see him doing soundtracks. The Fragile gave us a glimpse into his gelid, desolate landscapes in his mind…. the exploration of these landscapes (which strangely I've always equated with the game Oddworld) started with Ghosts I and II…continued gorgeously with the Social Network and now is maturing with TGWTDT….I am in love with the things in this man's head. It's scary.

- Food for your soul

The more you listen, listen carefully, the more you hear. The more you hear the songs, their motifs & phrases, the greater the connection you have with music. Music like this awakens your inner consciousness that gets put to sleep by the nonsense of life. It feeds your inner you. There is a wide range of dynamics; the subtle soft phrases (or melodies), and timing. As a soundtrack, it couldn't get better. The various tones, the prepared piano especially helps paint the character's realities. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross did an amazing job with all aspects of the soundtrack/album. Disclaimer: All the above statements are just my opinion; the opinion of a girl who is often looked at strangely and considered crazy by the majority of our population here in the United States of Capitalism.

- I can see it now, it

Trent and Atticus have shown for the second time just how remarkable their work is. They work perfectly together and I am very much looking forward to them doing more scores for great films. I can also see another Golden Globe Award for these two again as well! Congratulations to the both of them for the nomination! By the way, I was begging to hear another How To Destroy Angels song, and here it was! Best album purchase I have done in a while!

- Worst Possible Choice

Reznor and Ross have established themselves as being the next big thing in Hollywood scoring. Unfortunately, their collaborations seem to be something akin to a one hit wonder. Much like The Social Network, the music here is bland and near unlistenable in some cases. The constant reliance on electronics dampens the experience and there is no continuity whatsoever with themes and motifs seemingly thrown out the window. This is due to Reznor's scoring method in which he does not even see the film while writing the music, he just writes what he thinks would go well with a scene. The total product shows his overall ineptitude for syncing dramatic moments with flourishes in the score. This score could have a better shelf life as a solo album or an "inspired by" album. Any director who knows his music would have fired Reznor for his debacle on The Social Network and made sure to grab Howard Shore in order to delegate him to the type of insipid jobs that only Tyler Bates seems to be lurking around in. Save your money on this one, guys. If you feel that you really need it, just pirate it so that Reznor's grubby hands will not touch your hard-earned cash.

- Purrr

Bucket list now complete lol!

- Brilliant

Karen O and Trent Reznor, life complete!

- SERIOUS

A logical progression from the Social Network, full of ambient skittering noises throughout. This record is progeny of Kraftwerk, Gary Numan and many others. Solid stuff. Only marred (and book-ended) by 2 hideous, clueless covers. The kind of covers that have you shaking your head recalling how one billion times better the originals are. Yikes. A note to 'reviewers' posting here: Who cares about the Oscars? Seriously. They stopped mattering about 20 yrs. ago. That's not why they're making the music. Relax and enjoy the tunes. Stop 'smelling' an Oscar. Industry awards are political and sad, if that's news.

- Imluv it

Bg

- Wishes

Reminds me of Nails @ Lollapalooza Show in '91 (Barrie, Molson Park)...solid sequencing and looping. It's nice to still hear tones of the industrial in the electronica of today. The only other thing I could ask for is a new '10,000 Homo D.J.s' release...

- Yes. YES. YESSS!

I absolutely love Trents instrumental music. The industrial, ambient, and other dark electronic vibes accompanied by piano and other keyboard instruments like bells sound just great. I'm definitely enjoying how the same common instrument from Aphex Twins "Drukqs" is found in some tracks. And I'm so happy that there's just less than 3 hours of it! It's hard to pick a favorite of the large selection of great music, but I'm really liking "oraculum" "great bird of prey" and "one particular moment". I wish for more great music in the future! Maybe even four more volumes if Ghosts?

- The best soundtrack of the year

And I smell another Oscar for Trent Reznor, this soundtrack is even better then The Social Network

- Dark..Dark and dark

This is going to be one creepy movie. The books are really dark and after listening to this soundtrack it is going to be creepy. The music is well done. What if we could is my fav. Just beautiful.

- Great Album

If you loved Ghosts, you'll love this. Another Oscar perhaps? The music is wildly inventive.

- Absolutely AMAZING!!!!

Great album… Trent Reznor's vision is always amazing!!!!!

- What I expected it to be

I'm a big fan of NIN and Trent Reznor's forays into soundtracks or soundtrack-like material, Ghosts, Social Network etc so I was really looking forward to this, and it did not disappoint. Sprawling (3 hours!), cold, menacing, eerie, installs a sense of foreboding. The Led Zeppelin and Bryan Ferry covers are great, too. Fave track so far is "Under the Midnight Sun".

- Amazing

Absolutely brilliant. A heady brew of bells, beats, and foreign noise, along with electronic undertones that are as cold, mysterious, and disturbing as the story it reflects.

- Fantastic

I definitely agree with Geoff, this soundtrack has an eerie seething feel- classic style for Trent (and Atticus). I've been a big fan of Nine Inch Nails for awhile now, and with soundtracks that have (and in this case will, I'm sure) be very successful, it's nice to see Trent and Atticus get some more recognition, as they are both incredibly talented- true musical brilliance in my opinion. Another thing- as much as their music has evolved, and the soundtrack has been made to fit the movie, it's nice to see Trent sticking to his style and really just expanding on it. It's a kind of musical integrity that seems rare nowadays. I'm definitely going to watch the movie, really excited for it. Thanks guys, keep up the awesome music!

- WHat a fantastic soundtrack!

I just got through my full listen of this behemoth sountrack, and I must say I am very happy with the results. Its very creepy and gives me a pretty unsettled feeling through most of it, but thats not a complaint. Cannot wait for the movie!!!

- Amazing and disturbing

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did it again. After the excellent The Social Network soundtrack, the managed to create more amazing and disturbing music with this soundtrack. Absolutely stunning!

- Woah

Trent did it again!!
