I took this record with me to the International Space Station. We played it in the Space shuttle going and again on the way home. We also listened to it hiking in Wonder Valley with Jane and Harold...
"Deep Blue Day is possibly the best song I’ve ever heard in my life!” -Dj Q-bert
Seen the movie for the first time. Then, Remembered hearing it in Traffic. Great song. You know which one, yes? Now, come to find out, it’s space music. I ❤️ it. NASA And there’s a Star next to number 5. You’ll see it.
This song brought tears the first several times I listened, don't know why exactly. My favorite song ever, so maybe I'm just mad about being sad. The rest of the songs serve as backup players, although all three artists are definitely heavy hitters.
Listen to "An Ending" and then "Always Returning" then put them on perma-loop. You're done.
Awesome album.
This was the first time I heard Brian Eno’s music. The atmospheric soundtrack emphasizes the vastness and vacuum of space, without intruding into the scenes of the documentary. As ambient music, it is fine, however listening to it without watching the documentary is doing yourself an injustice. The documentary is absolutely amazing-I remember seeing the moon landing live. But it was only flashes of television news, the video and audio at the time was so primitive it was hard for me to get a feeling of what it was really like. And being only 4 years old, I didn’t realize the historical magnitude of what was happening. The documentary itself actually fleshes that story out. It (the film) is now called “For All Mankind”. If you have never seen it you must. It is sometimes shown on TCM, and also has been shown on PBS as well.
The only album that has been a consistent part of my life since its release over thirty years ago. It is timeless, serene, expansive, dreamlike, meditative, transporting, transcendent, inspired, a work of genius, Highly recommended. Try it and let it take you on an awe-inspiring journey,
