Spice Girls - Spice

About Spice by Spice Girls Album

Spice is the debut studio album by English girl group the Spice Girls. It was released on 19 September 1996 by Virgin Records. The album was recorded between 1995 and 1996 at Olympic Studios in Barnes, London and Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, London, by producers Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard, and the production duo Absolute. The album is a pop record with an inclusion of styles such as dance, R&B and hip hop. It is considered to be the record that brought teen pop back, opening the doors for a wave of teen pop artists. Conceptually, the album centered on the idea of Girl Power, and the hype surrounding the group was compared to Beatlemania. Spice was a huge worldwide commercial success. The album peaked at number one in more than 17 countries across the world, and was certified Multi-Platinum in 27 countries, Platinum in 14 countries and Gold in three countries, including 10-times Platinum in the United Kingdom and Canada, eight-times Platinum in Europe, and seven-times Platinum in the United States. It became the world's top-selling album of 1997, selling 19 million copies in over a year. The album has sold a total of 23 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album in music history by a girl group and one of the most successful albums of all time. Five singles were released from the album. The first single, "Wannabe", became a worldwide success and went to number one in 35 countries, one of the best-selling singles of all time and selling over six million copies worldwide. The next two singles, "Say You'll Be There" and "2 Become 1", reached number one in 53 countries. "Who Do You Think You Are" was released as the official Comic Relief single in the UK as a double A-side with "Mama" and both songs reached the top 20 in charts across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In the band's native UK, all four singles went to number one on the UK Singles Chart and, on the Billboard Hot 100, the album spawned three top-five singles.

- Great Album

My personal favorites are #2, 3, 5, and 7. This always brings back memories of my pre-teen/teenage years. Nostalgia!

- I like the songs but

The song Wannabe IS a really good and catchy song but are you guys ignoring that the way the group is set up is... racist. I mean, how come the black girl is "Scary Spice?" Isn't that just a teensy but racist?? Why would they call the only black member "scary"? Are black people scary to the person who created this group? And it's rude to call anyone, black or white, scary. That's just mean.

- He

Love 💗 it

- For my taste it was still Spicy 🌶

Spice Girls was something you couldn’t create on TRL cause for one thing that show wasn’t around in 1997 and 2nd of all It’s just something that couldn’t be foreseeable! Hard to say what’s in the Waters of the British Ponds but these five women from The Old County who look different from eyesight though in a way have similar Accents come together as a Candy Colored Pop Girl Group! And while comparing Spice Girls to the Beatles might be Sacrilege but to a fault it was a sort of 90’s Beatle Mania! Hey they did get a VMA for their efforts cause Videos like Wannabe and Say You’ll be there” we’re difficult to Ignore then! Though it would be shunned by anyone who feels a Grunge was more an important part of music, But I had always been someone who listens to Nirvana and Pearl Jam one minute then Spice Girls the next!

Spice Wiki

In the culinary arts, a spice is any seed, fruit, root, bark, or other plant substance in a form primarily used for flavoring or coloring food. Spices are distinguished from herbs, which are the leaves, flowers, or stems of plants used for flavoring or as a garnish. Spices are sometimes used in medicine, religious rituals, cosmetics, or perfume production. They are usually classified into spices, spice seeds, and herbal categories. For example, vanilla is commonly used as an ingredient in fragrance manufacturing. Plant-based sweeteners such as sugar are not considered spices. Spices may be used fresh and whole, after drying, grating, chopping, crushing, or grinding, or by extraction into a tincture. Such processing may happen before a spice is offered for sale, while preparing a dish in a kitchen, or after a dish has been presented for consumption (such as peppercorns ground at the table as a condiment). Some spices such as turmeric are seldom available either fresh or whole and so must be purchased in ground form. Small seeds such as fennel or mustard may be used either whole or in powdered form. A whole dried spice has the longest shelf life, so it can be purchased and stored in larger amounts, making it cheaper on a per-serving basis. A fresh spice, such as ginger, is usually more flavorful than its dried form, but fresh spices are more expensive and have a much shorter shelf life. There is not enough clinical evidence to indicate that consuming spices affects human health. India contributes to 75% of global spice production. This is reflected culturally through its cuisine. Historically, the spice trade developed throughout the Indian subcontinent as well as in East Asia and the Middle East. Europe's demand for spices was among the economic and cultural factors that encouraged exploration in the early modern period.
