I am slowly learning to be more patient when purchasing soundtracks. The last 3 I purchased turned out to have been "abridged" versions and if I looked a little harder, I would find "Expanded Editions" that have the actual soundtrack. This is one of those cases. This release is only about 1/3 the actual music and is not ordered chronologically. Go find the "Expanded Edition" - if you want this incredible music, you won't be satisfied until you get the one with 'Amazing Grace', 'Spock Dies', 'The Genesis Cave', superior sound quality and incredible liner notes.

This is a magnificent soundtrack. Never fails to lift me up. That said... Why doesn't iTunes carry Star Trek: The Search for Spock? It is an AMAZING soundtrack!

This score for The Wrath of Khan is just as stirring as Goldsmith's work on The Motion Picture; and even Williams' work on Star Wars, Superman, and Indiana Jones. But why is there no expanded soundtrack of the film available on iTunes? Why is there no original or expanded soundtrack of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock available here? Why are none of the expanded soundtracks for those first six Trek movies available here? To not have these expanded scores for the Trek movies is impractical; and to quote a legendary Vulcan: "Highly illogical."

I don’t have this version, but I absolutely love the expanded version. This is one of the best soundtracks out there. On par with Star Wars, LOTRs, and all those other classics.

This soundtrack is very stirring, but for some reason it makes me want to go out and gnaw on furniture. I have no explanation for this.

Where is the track "Stealing the Enterprise??? Very dissapointing!!!

James Horner is already a renowned musical genius, his scores for Braveheart, Titanic and The Land Before Time being a testament to this. However this brilliant score for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan remains one of his most significant and iconic scores. From the foreboding introduction of Khan to the tragic ending, James Horner helped define both Star Trek and sic-fi cinema in general. Highly recommended!

It’s good that iTunes decided to release the score to “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”, but give us the expanded edition that was released in 2009 that contains more music. The expanded score has 22 tracks, while this has about nine tracks.

In my humble opinion. This was the best Star Trek movie. It moved quick with good action & story. COME ON....SPOCK DIES??? I watched the TV series as a kid & loved this Captain & crew. Loved their devotion to duty & the Federation. It made me realize how important it is to..everyday..every minute...do the best job you can..no matter what you are doing. I love this soundtrack...when I am in a bad traffic situation, this is my go to music. I believe I am blowing away the idiots before me...lol

The insrumentals here are sweeping and grandiose, keeping the iconic Star Trek leitmotifs while expanding on them in fascinating, stirring ways. I wish iTunes had the full soundtrack to this movie, but these 9 tracks are absolutely wonderful. Listening to this soundtrack never fails to be inspiring.

I had this album when I was in middle school. So glad that find it as a digital download. One of the best soundtracks ever.

RIP James Horner As noted, this is an abridged version of the complete soundtrack, but its still great to listen to. Horner successfully marries the seafaring/swashbuckling motifs with the old Star Trek themes to create an incredible score (if you can get the extended edition, note the use of the horns playing one of the old ST themes in ‘Buried Alive’). Hopefully the extended version of ‘Khan’ and ‘Search for Spock’ will be available on iTunes in the future. If so, get them!
