I was going to write an emotionally loaded rant about how everyone loves to buy gregorian chat CD's to "meditate", but when someone wants to add a little Latin to the Mass, they're denounced as unprogressive, but that's best left for a message board. Having said that, I refer you to the title of my review. As for the CD, can't complain really. It's well executed, but suffers from the same flaw as most Gregorian chant recordings: too much reverb. I studied Latin for three years, and while I can't hold a conversation or read Cicero, I can tell what someone is saying (or singing) more or less. However, it seems like all of these chant albums are recorded in a cathedral or something. I can't say that's a bad place to do it, but I just can't understand them, and I should be able to, given that everyone is singing the same thing (it's monophonic). It's a great album nonetheless, and, like a lot of these sacred music CDs, you can't beat the price for the amount of music you're getting! In conclusion, as mentioned in the title, if you actually find Gregorian chant spiritually nourishing, ask your pastor or music director to get it in during Mass, and show him what Vatican II REALLY said about Latin and Gregorian chant!

This CD lives up to its title. The voices are soothing, inspiring, and create a wonderful atmosphere for contemplation, relaxation, or focused creativity. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely magnificent. I was the the seminary for a while in the early 60s and my fondest memories are of being in the choir and nothing was as soul stirring as singing Gregorian chant. Great work, Monks!!

I really enjoy this album as a soothing, drifting-off-to-sleep, reducing anxiety tool. It is SO simple. The voices echo and put you thousands and thousands of years back in time to a more prolific age of beauty.

You must buy this album! It is fantastic for studying, meditating, and sleeping! I'm an old -school Catholic, so this satisfies my need for traditional chant now and then. It's worth every penny...

I'm not Catholic. I don't medatate. (Not to be hatin' on the Catrholics to medatators out there.) But I do love this stuff. It's really calming and it helps when I'm working on homework (as crazy as that may sound.) And yes, I actually hum to it.
I really enjoy this cd I find the sound of the voices uplifts my spirit.
I find this album to be very relaxing and helpful in meditation. It is great music for studying and meditating to. It is also a great help in prayer. I reccomend this album to any who are stressed and need to sit in silence for a while.
This is a wonderful CD - always in tune, very soothing and uplifting. The beauty of the simple melodies really shines through. I've found it's perfect for meditation, sleep, or just chilling out. Also, in my opinion, you don't have to be of any particular religion to enjoy this music. It transcends religions and affiliations. Enjoy!
