- Yuck!!!

I couldn't even make it through half the album! As someone who is love Jason forever, I am so disappointed that he seems to have sucked all of the creativity and that unique something he used to have out of his songs. Not creative, soulless, boring, and just painful. Plus, what happened to Toca?!?!

- What's up with M-R-A-Z??

So there's a ton of mixed reviews. Here's what I think it boils down to: If you don't like it (like me) it's more than likely because you started listening and loving the quick witted charming lyrics and fast tempo he once had and it's obvious now that type of music isn't what he's into now. If you do like it, it's probable that you began within the last couple albums. I appreciate his new music. I recognize that they're well sung songs by an extremely talented singer. However- if you go back and listen to his songs from '08 and before you should recognize the distinct difference. I for one, am much MUCH more fond of that style. I miss Wordplay and Waiting for my rocket to come and Geek in the pink!! I miss the energy and quick tempo and creative lyrics! What happened?

- When I hear his voice... Ahhhh

I've been a fan of Jason since 2008. I've gone back to the albums before then, and I love them. Jason has matured so much, and his music reflects that. I love this album. My favorite song is Quiet.

- Yes! To Yes!

I love this album. Mraz has always taken us on an emotional and spiritual journey with his music. From the beginning with his Waiting for My Rocket... album. He was trying to become someone in music. And did what he wanted with his music. Then to We Sing, We Dance, We Steal things album. He through his creative story telling about his experiences in his personal life. And he did what he wanted with his music. To Love is a Four Letter Word, where he's giving us a background to his life. He's happy where his music is and where he is in life. And he did what he wanted with his music. And now with his Yes! album, he's letting us into his heart and his spirit. It's incredibly sweet and personal. And he's doing what us true Mraz fans love about him, growing as an artist and giving us something new. By doing what he wants with his music. As put so wonderfully by Mr. A-Z himself , " "Every time I hear music, they've added more stuff to it. Things are always moving into a futuristic place Where you and I will try, we'll try to dance into tomorrow." He to this day is still giving us his usual, wonderful, wordplay. You've got to love this man and his music. I know I do. Because he does what he wants to with his music.

- Awesome!

This album beautiful. It has everything you want from Mr. A-Z.

- Love all his evolutions!

I am sad to read that people think JM should not change but keep whatever style they liked best. Who wants to stay the same? Nobody! I love hearing the growth & evolution JM is experiencing. I LOVE this new album. It's so beautiful.

- AMAZING!

I literally love this album! I 100% don't regret buying this album! No doubt it's the best! 😍♥️

- Better than ever

the first tim I listened to this album I really didn't care for it, but It's now one of my favorites. "Long Drive", "3 things" and "You Can Rely On Me" are some of his best in my opinion. My play count is at 33 in just 2 weeks and will continue to go up! I highly recommend this album!

- awesome

nuff said

- Makes everything better

The songs on this album always make my day better!

- Still Great!

No matter how he changes, the music is great

- What Happened???

What happened to the Jason that i loved? Disappointed with these songs. 2008 was the best year. I'm yours was just amazing😍 i remember singing it every day for a whole year and now..... I can't do the same with these newer songs. Just can't. And I can't be alone.

- Yes! Yes! Yes!

It is truely awesome to listen and watch as Jason creates and changes as years pass. Love this album. Many say they miss the old, but I say 'keep on keepin' on' Jason. I'll celebrate and learn these songs while looking forward to what is next in Jason's stylings of word and song. Good Stuff!

- Yes! Is a YES!!!

Why are all these people complaining? I think it is great of JM to care so much about the earth, and it's really just a great album. I love "Back To The Earth". I have all the lyrics memorized!! Great job Jason Mraz keep up the great work!!😄💗

- ❤️

Great album

- Awsome! Whats not to love here?

It would seem that the sophmoric comments of some here must be based in ignorance of what creativity is. This album, although different from earlier releases, stands alone in its brilliance. Im afraid the (not so favorable) comments must come from a very young group who have yet to experience what life can realy be. Get your noses out of your cell phones. wake up! Get back to the earth ..Seriously

- Refreshing new sound!

My go-to album for chill, relaxing, and feel-good music. The all-acoustic setup feels more sincere than his other albums.

- It's great

Pretty good

- Another masterpiece

PERSONAL: This album is amazing. It actually help me find myself again when going through a breakup. FAVORITE SONGS: Long Drive, Best Friend, 3 Things, Love Someone, Rise (the melody is inspiring) I am honestly grateful for Jason Mraz and I hope he continues to spread his positive message.

- He did it again.

Jason once again creates a beautiful album. Songs are catchy, powerful and beautiful.

- So disappointed

I still can't get really attached to this album. LIAFLW and We Sing were and still are my favorites to be honest.

- So happy!

I'm loving "Best Friend" and "Hello You Beautiful Thing" because they make me cry and smile! Jason might not sound the same as he did circa 2008 but I think his music is still amazing and I hope he continues down this path.

- Yes! Is another wonderful album

I got turned on to Jason a few years ago. Once I began running I needed music to listen to and I happened upon an album my wife bought (We sing...). I loved it! When Love is a four letter word came out I loved it too. And with this it is a joy as well. There are no live tracks, but I saw him in concert to get that fix. While not apparently his old style (I haven't bought that stuff yet) it is quite good. I think if you enjoy Jason's vibe of words, melodies, and beautiful tone he brings with his songs, you will enjoy this album as well

- Love it

It is a great album! Listening to it everyday

- JASON MAREZ💕💕💕

I love him! And his songs "Love Someone" and "Hello, you beautiful thing" AHHHHH!!!!!! He is amazing!

- Jason Mraz has become a Butterfly

Just like everybody, musicians evolve, they are shaped by their life experiences, effected by good and bad relationships, and have their own goals and worthy causes in mind. It is quite obvious in this album that Jason Mraz wants to change the world and make it a better place for everybody. Jason Mraz, has surpassed every previous album with this new addition "yes!" featuring "Raining Jane" the most eclectic all lady band I have ever loved since the "Runaways". Not that they sound a bit like Joan Jett or Lita Ford. No, they have a moving sound all their own. As evidence may I suggest you listen to their rendition of Pat Benatar's, "Love is a Battlefield"? They are as versatile as they are talented, all fabulous singers and their instruments include cello, cajon, violin and others, in addition to mainstream band tools. In "Yes!" He sings about love, the environment, friendship and healing from wounds that I am sure have influenced the tunes on this album. My first listen I fell in love with "3 Things" which I gave to a friend to help her through the loss of a loved one. By my third listen I was into "Everywhere" and "Long Drive" both of which anyone who has ever experienced deep desire can relate to. Now after countless listens I love every song on this album, I sing-along in the car, in the house, on the airplane, and get everybody to learn all about great music by Jason Mraz. I want to also commend Mr. Mraz for he practices what he preaches having received an award in San Diego for philanthropy and community service, given his time and energy and I'm sure money to many great causes; and formed his own foundation the "Jason Mraz foundation". I love Jason Mraz hope you do too.

- Won't Disappoint

There are many reasons to buy this album, but I'm going to pinpoint a few. 1) Jason Mraz has a history of providing good albums. Each of them are unique and different with pretty much only two things in common: Jason's beautiful voice and overall greatness. This album follows that pattern. 2) Raining Jane (and of course Mona) co-wrote it. If you don't remember, they were also behind the perfect Beautiful Mess of his third album. 3) Jason Mraz is just great. I mean, if you've never seen him in concert you're missing out. He's funny and cool, and additionally has a perfect voice. Seriously, he hits every note right on, something many other artists today struggle with. 4) It is a good album. If you don't agree, you really shouldn't buy it because it will be wasted on you.

- Mature

I love it when an artist isn't defined by his older work (see all the comments about 2008). Thank you for making refreshing music! And if you want his old music, download his old album. It's 2014...move forward and appreciate good music.

- Love it!

Great album!

- YES

FROM BEGINNING TO END THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS I'VE PURCHASED IN A LONG, LONG, LONG TIME. WAY TO GO JASON.

- Yes is a Yes

Love it! It’s mature and flows well. It’s calming and up beat at the same time. Love it Love it Love it.

- Mraz

I love the acoustic simple sound, I took me a year to warm up to the new vibe, but overall very nice work by Mraz. Following up on my review. For anyone who truly likes Jason for him and his sound of his voice, will always like his work wether it’s different like this.

- "Yes"is a winner

JM's music is evolving and I'm grateful to be along for the ride. I appreciate the inspiring, positive, and thoughtful lyrics wrapped in playfully catchy melodies. JM's vocals really shine in this acoustic set. Is it mellow? Yes. Is it amazing? Most definitely, Yes!

- Progression Leaves Some Behind

I can understand how a lot of people are complaining saying that this is nothing like "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” However is that really what you want? Jason Mraz is an artist that uses music as a vehicle to reflect on relevant events in his life at the exact moment in time he’s writing the song. As the years roll on so do experiences and experience. This is where he is now. Not yesterday. And he’s such a talent it sounds spectacular with a transcending quality that is hard to ignore. Another fantastic glimpse into the life of a fantastic artist.

- Profound

After hearing the song previews, I was pleasantly surprised with this album. It's still the honeymoon, but this could quiet possibly be my favorite Mraz album-- Cant get enough!!! Only regret is not purchasing it sooner.

- Appreciate actual artist who play music

I'm not one to write reviews on albums but this is one that I truly enjoyed. There are some upbeat songs like 'Hello you beautiful thing' but what really appreciate are the slower songs like 'A World With You'. My favorite songs on the album are: A world with you You can rely on me Back to earth Love someone Hello, you beautiful thing

- Sounds even worse than your previous album

I WANT WE SING WE DANCE WE STEAL THINGS BACK!!!!!!

- Best Album

Hands down

- Love Love Love

The answer to my questions. The light in my darkness. The hope in my despair. The warmth in my many cold nights. Anyone who does not like this album is just not listening

- The Best

Exploring new ways, new arrangements with the fantastic girls from Raining Jane, excellent and pretty musicians. Watch the video you'll be truly impressed with these talented girls. Great music.

- Amazing

Best music ever he is my idol ‼️‼️‼️

- No!

Absolutely not!

- Daniel Bryan

YES! YES! YES!

- YES!

Can't get enough of J.M have the whole cd on repeat. Real talent and great songs! Wish he'd come to Florida so I can finally see him play live!

- Still tugging my heart along

It took a few car rides to truly appreciate the album, I can't say I love every single song but as an album as a whole I find it comforting. Best friend is my favorite on the album, it's magical and can bring me to tears!

- Stunning!

Lyrical perfection, deep vulnerability, heartfelt & meaningful storytelling, funky & fierce melodies, fearlessly embracing what speaks to him... Jason Mraz is a talented and skilled musician who has produced a new yet familiar record. It has literally provided me with life affirming, life saving words of hope as I navigate a rough patch in life. Yes! is another beautiful gift. Love is what matters, it gets you through… Thank you Jason and Raining Jane... Thank you for putting the human experience to song.

- Fresh

Just saw Jason in San Francisco - like everyone I had my favorites. After listening to his new music live, I now have some new favorites from “YES”. Give it a chance it will grow on you - but even more so . . . go see him live. Amazing talent and he has fun interacting with his fans. Thank you, Jason - it was great to see you in such a small venue before you head out on your World Tour!!

- What happened total disappointment.

Marx was one of few that could play and sing with absolutely mesmerizing the crowd. His albums were great from start to finish. I appreciate a great artist but I regretfully have to say this album is just hard to play the whole way through without wanting to skip every track praying that the old sound that made me a big fan will come on but it's not there not even close. So sorry to say but it's not good I hope something happens and he finds that old up beat amazing sound again. It's surely missed a great deal by a big fan.

- Inspirational… thought-provoking… grounded… could listen to all day

I see a lot of reviews blasting this album because it’s not like his previous albums. I’ll have to go back and listen to his catalog as I am a recent fan of Jason’s. This is the first and only album I’ve listened to in its entirety - even after seeing him live at Chicago Theater recently. All I can say is that this guy gets it… great lyrics and excellent music… Perhaps it’s more soft than his previous work, but that’s where he is in his life. Maybe that’s where I am as well, because this album strikes a chord with me. Looking forward to working backward through his albums.

- Beautiful!

Extremely chill. I love the style of Yes! From beginning to end, this album is absolutely beautiful. Every handsome note to each strategically wonderful beat, this work of art is phenomenal! Truly inspiring songs, you can tell Mraz has a real talent for creativity. I'm enjoying Yes! immensely, I can't stop listening. Elated with joy 😊

- Beautiful and Sweet

Lovely Album..like everything he does <3

- I miss the Fun-Ska-Groovy-Rapping Jason Mraz

I miss the Fun-Ska-Groovy-Rapping Jason Mraz, his sound has become too soft/relaxing... not what I liked from him!

- Jason Mraz is an amazing artist.

I believe that Jason Mraz is such an amazing composer. However I only put 4 stars because I was expecting more clever 'wordplays' in terms of his lyrics and more upbeat playful songs. This album contains mostly calm and relaxing songs, which is great but some of the songs sound the same. Regardless, I recommend buying this album because it’s still awesome!

- AMAZING

Love all songs so much. Really nice album. Cool....

- FANTASTIC!

Simply put, this music feels uplifting! The lyrics and music are amazing - great harmonies but the lyrics are beautiful and capture how many of us feel. Also great for dancing and just listening!

- i love it

its awesome i love songs that just lift my spirit :)

- Comfort Listening at Its Finest!

Jason Mraz has long suffered from criticism that his albums never sound as good as his live shows. This album should stop that criticism. In his fifth studio album, with minimal production, YES! delivers an experience that covers a variety of genres, yet is pure MRAZ. With Raining Jane as the band, the acoustic sounds are complemented with beautiful harmonies (such as on the opening intro Rise) and unique instrumentation, such as the sitar, found in a few tracks, including the closing “opus" Shine. Mraz wears positivity on his sleeve and this is throughout the album. You won’t find any heartbreak or sadness here - if his music seems overly optimistic, it’s likely on target. There aren’t a lot of songs on YES! with the rap-scat lyric witticisms that Mraz is known for. There also aren’t any groove tracks here - no Butterfly or Dynamo of Volition as found on his best selling We Sing We Dance We Steal Things. But there are a lot of great hooks that sound very natural. This is an album that calms - sounding like it wouldn’t be out of place in a hippie commune. Yet after a few more listens, it takes on its own life and purpose. One criticism would be that it often feels like it wants to go one step further but it always pulls back. The lead-off songs were featured in a short 14 minute film (We Took The Long Way). Love Someone is standard Mraz fare, promoting the feeling of love. Hello You Beautiful Thing is an up-beat tune, with a tempo reminiscent of Mraz’s country duet with Hunter Hayes “Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me”. Long Drive is a bass driven edgy track, discussing the desire to stay in the car rather than go home alone. Everywhere is the one atypical song on the album, sounding more like a heavy driving pop-song, similar to ColdPlay’s La Vida Loca. While sounding slightly “stalkerish”, the lyrics sound more like Mraz trying to be the compounds that make up every item in the world, noting that “I’m Everywhere”. Best Friend drones on a bit with the “Thank you for being …..” lyrics but the music in the bridge makes it worthwhile. Quiet pontificates on the creep of city life into small towns, with a sound that wouldn’t sound out of place on a James Taylor album. Out Of Your Hands, with a slight Celtic flavouring, finds Mraz simply accepting that when things go bad, you have to recognize when you can’t do anything else about it. With an abundance of unreleased Mraz material, the inclusion of a cover of Boys II Men “So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” feels a bit strange, despite its beautiful harmonies. It is almost a given that there will be a Deluxe version of YES!, which may include more of that other material. Three Things has a fairly simplistic short positive message (there are only three things) but the chorus makes the song worthwhile. You Can Rely On Me has more edge to it, showing a bit of acoustic country flair in its chorus. Back to the Earth features an undeniable message promoting farming (a rooster sounds the call to arms) and nature but also has one of the more unforgettable melodies on the album. This song could be released as a single. It’s an ear worm song, because once heard, it’s hard to get out of your head and great to sing along to. While most of the songs are about love and positivity, World With You is the standout slow love ballad, with a stripped down sound focused mostly on the lyrics and guitar. With its pronounced sitar, Shine finishes the album, expounding the listener to “shine” on others. The track itself is slightly different than the rest of the album, sounding very Beatles-esque and more universal rather than personal. Mraz and Raining Jane did a live concert where they performed the album in its entirety (most can be seen on YouTube). There are slight differences from the live sound but overall the album sounds exactly like the live show. In an interview about the album, Mraz spoke about wanting the album to have an “arc”. YES! definitely has a feeling that goes throughout the entire album, delivering positivity and great music, while not pushing itself too far.

- Too drawn out

No matter how good the music is, this drawn out method of release of one song at a time is tedious! Either release on a date or DON'T but don't take 3 months to release the whole album!

- Been waiting for so long

Really glad that new album finally came out. Great song and so beautiful voices. Continue the good work !!

- Incredible, mesmerizing, and beautiful! A MUST buy!!

This album was a long time coming and I am over the moon elated about it. Jason Mraz is back and better than ever with this awe-inspiring compilation. You will smile, sigh, shed a tear, dance and keep hitting replay over and over! I'm convinced this man cannot make bad music. It's all top quality, incredible music that speaks so elegantly and poetically. He has a way with words that really moves you and a voice that is so smooth. Raining Jane's backup adds such a unique sound to this album. All the different and unusual instruments sound amazing! Say yes to YES! and own a little piece of heaven. Jason is one in a million!
