Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way

About By the Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers Album

By the Way is the eighth studio album by American Alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released July 9, 2002, on Warner Bros. Records. It sold more than 286,000 copies in its first week, and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Singles included "By the Way", "The Zephyr Song", "Can't Stop", "Dosed" and "Universally Speaking". The lyrical subject matter vocalist Anthony Kiedis addresses in By the Way is a divergence from previous Red Hot Chili Peppers albums, with Kiedis taking a more candid and reflective approach to his lyrics. By the Way was lauded by critics as a departure from the band's previous styles, and is recognized for the melodic and subdued emotions given by the Chili Peppers. Guitarist John Frusciante is credited with writing most of the album's melodies, backing vocal arrangements, bass lines and guitar progressions, therefore changing the direction of the recording dramatically: "his warm, understated guitar work and his doo-wop style vocal harmonies are king this time around." By the Way contained very little of the signature punk-funk fusion the band had become known for playing. Frusciante has stated that writing "By the Way one of the happiest times in my life." The album went on to sell more than eight million copies worldwide.

- Best album!

This has to be my favorite album that the red hot chili peppers has ❤️ I love the other ones but this one is my favorite

- Simply beautiful!

This to me, is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The amazing music is simplistic, yet powerful; the warm ,touching lyrics of love and loss. Everything about this song is amazing! RCHP: the greatest band of all time!

- Awesome Album

A great album filled with upbeat and groovy melodic tracks! RHCP do it again!

- one of my favorites

this is one of my favorite albums by them. The best song on here HAS to be Dosed. <3

- So many hits and gems.

Well these guys are one of my top 5 favorite bands. Dosed is a top 5 favorite song of all time. Another gem is Midnight. Even in 2022 with their latest album, Unlimited Love, they continue to put out great music. Look past the hits to find out just how musically creative these guys are. I hope they continue to bless us with their great music. As great as a guitarist as John Frusiante is, he is also terribly underrated as a singer with his amazing harmonizing vocals. Long live RHCP and thank you for making our lives so much better with your great music. I love you all.

- Favorite album of all time

By the way was the first album I ever purchased as a kid, there is not a single song on this album that isn't good. "This is the place" and "Dosed" are amazing, this album is pure gold and will always be my favorite album of all time!

- Great album

One of chili peppers best albums.

- One Of The Best Albums Ever Recorded

Every song on this album is euphoric. Every track is beautifully written, well thought out and the music is mesmerizing. The best tracks, by far, are "Venice Queen" and "The Zephyr Song". Nonetheless, I love all 16 songs. The music is fantastic and the lyrics are intriguing. I would highly recommend buying this album if you're a die hard RHCP fan and love great music. Just awesome. 10/10

- The best alternative band!

RHCP!!

- Don't forget me

I love this album. Has been one of my favorites for years. Don't forget me is an amazing song. Hits you right in the feels.

- AMAZING ALBUM

Every song is amazing. Another great album by the Peppers but then again every one of their albums are great.

- Fave RHCP Album ever

Deep lyrics, simple yet spellbinding instrumentals.

- One of the Greatest albums ever!

This is the only album I know where every single song is great. That's why it's one of the best albums ever created not just by rhcp but of everything. It's just so good. 10/10

- LOVE IT

Spent the last of my iTunes money on by the way and can't stop and I'm already going to get more iTunes money for the rest of this amazing album! 🌶🎸🥁🎸🎤

- Pure Silver & Gold

I want to say it's my favorite album of all time, but who knows what they'll do next. This album is just pure silver and gold. I would recommend this to people who loved Californication and Stadium Arcadium. Trust me every track is amazing. 10/10

- Very overlooked

Love this album

- Dosed

Where is Dosed? That is one of the best songs on this album

- BTW... It's their best

I had the privilege to spend my adolescence listening to the one of the greatest periods of music. This album is one my favorites of all time. Sure, I could have just copied this album, but it's worth buying again years later just to relive some of the best times in my life.

- IMO BEST RHCP ALBUM!

From start to finish every song from this album is truly amazing and different in a way too. Thank you RHCP love you all.

- Great Album

I have been listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers for many years and I honestly love this album. If your going on to buy a song or 2 from this album buy Minor Thing or Venice Queen there both beautiful songs with incredible harmonics by John Fruscante (The former lead guitarist of RHCP).

- No duds, no filler.

15+ years of listening to this album and pretty much every song has been a favorite of mine at some point. No other alternative rock album has really topped it since and it never grows old which a sign of classic. Get the deluxe version instead.

- Amazing!

This album saved my life! RHCP fan for life!!

- Such a perfect album

Songs are so unique and creatively put together. Love the boys!

- One of the greatest albums of the 2000's

This is the album that got me started on RHCP and after listening to their entire discography I think it's their best. Each song on here is a well written journey. Easily the one of the greatest albums of the 2000's.

- Pretty boring

Their bassist and guitarists are pretty good. That’s it though. The music is extraordinarily boring. Yea they’re 30 years old, but why would you have wanted to listen to this back then when you could have been listening to Nirvana or Metallica?

- One of the best RHCP albums!

Probably the best RHCP albums of all time! From start to finish this album is just pure magic! It's 13 years old but can listen to it over and over again!

- By the way this is soo good!!

Awesome record, starts off strong with by the way, universally , dosed & this is the place, has an epic middle with zephyr song and can't stop, and finishes strong with carbon, tear, on mercury, television, and Venice queen! My fave record by the chilis

Everything about this album is excellent and each song is a gem.

- Awesome

The best band ever genuine talent not auto tuned rubbish

- Wow

Can’t believe this album is 20 years old! still sounds amazing and is just iconic 👍🏻

- By the way

Simply one of the best album ever made

- The best

Im only 15 but my dad made me a red hot chilli peppers fan , ive grown up with them every song and album , cant wait to see them live next year with my dad

- BTW..

This is one of the best albums ever made.

- Musical perfection

This was the first album that got me into the band, I’ve bought all of theirs since and I still think this is by far the best one they made (including the back catalogue). Well written, dark at times but mainly upbeat and funky it’s as close to musical perfection I think an album could ever be. Probably my favorite album by any artist in fact.

- Amazing

It gets so stuck in your head instantaneously

- Can't Stop Is No.1!!!!

Although the whole album is amazing their single 'Can't Stop' is by far my personal favourite! I can't stop listening to it!! (Literally no pun intended ;) ) Would defiantly recommend downloading this album!! - Charlotte
