..Holy crap was that awesome. It's rare to find someone who can both sing and play with such passion. No frills, no bull, just great music. Rock and blues without the shrill over production that just frankly bums me out. It's no suprise that he's been invited to play the last few Clapton guitar festivals. The guy just is cool...the end. Looks like this will be well worth the wait. ...oh, I'm baffled by the negative comments on here.

Still vastly overrated. Maybe someday he will do something that doesn’t sound like a beer commercial. Second rate 90s style blues/rock.

Gary Clark Jr. is one of my favorite artists and judging from the songs that have been released so far this album will not disappoint. He has such an awesome style I can't get enough.

I'm happy that they didn't put this as blues because it has elements of that but it's such a different feel and entertaining! I'll be listening to this one for a good minute. I hope he gets his well deserve props for this one!

I can't say enough good kudos for this album. It was released today and I'm in a blues coma. I haven't heard this good of blues in years. New tunes. New arrangements. New techniques. I'm texting every blues junkie I know about this must have album.

So far, the two singles have just been eh. However a stellar release like Blak and Blu gives me high hopes, but I am worried that Gary will fall into the sophomore slump.

Such a huge drop off from"Bright Lights". Reminds me of The Black Keys selling out for "El Camino". Very week. Very disappointing.

This guy is just what modern music has greatly needed. A guitar based musician with a throwback style, who’s isn’t pigeon holed or stereo typical. This type of blues tinged rock and roll has a timeless sound that pays homage to all the greats while it forges ahead on its own two feet. Thanks Gary! This one sounds like it will be right in line with your stellar debut.

Rare is the artist that rings true outside the stresses and pulls of the marketplace but he shines through to the challenge. And live? the proof is clicks away. Need a non-obvious reference? Gary's first album was amazing and I have a great feeling this one is going to be even better! There just isn't anything this guy can't do.

This album is garbage. No one wants to here this crap. He should stick to playing the blues which is what he's best at. Not this r and b crap or whatever u call it.

More than I expected. Definitely glad that GCJ took a step forward when it comes to album making. He stays true to the genre while adding in a modern sound to create an awesome listening experience.

I bought 1st album and was completely let down. Saw him on July 4th with Foo Fighters; again--snoozer. The sound was dreadful. Couldnt hear his gutiar; drowned out by too much bass. These 2 songs are like watching water drip from a faucet. Somebody is giving this kid some bad advice. Needs to fire everybody and start over.

This is such a let down. There are only 2 decent songs (grinder and shake). Go back to the blues and guitar, and stop the hip hop mess. :(.

These first five tracks are all I need to hear plus his previous material to know that GCJ is the real deal! Love the gritty soul he injects into his art, his music! It's always great to find someone original in an old style, something potent, something that moves your soul! As a guitar player myself, I am truly inspired and motivated.

Songs I've listened to so far are tired and lazy. How does this guy who dates a supermodel and lives the good life pretend to do the blues. He's no SRV, Hendrix Buddy Guy, or even John Mayer. He's a self-entitled poser. Can't wait for this hype wagon to go away finally.

Those are the two words that best categorizes this album for me. Gary listens to a huge range of genres and that's what I love about him. You want blues? How about a little R&B? Some classic soul ("oldies") perhaps? Do you love loud, fuzzed out, distorted guitars??? Get this album now.

If these two songs indicate the quality of the album, it's not very good. Lyrically, it's pathetic : My baby's crying/ now my baby's crying. Uh, okay. Not mind-blowing, but the blues doesn't necessarily need great lyrics always, though it can help. The blues needs soul. This has none. Weak. Fake. Cheap.
