Great album and amazing performer!

I've been listening to Tyler Childers for several years. He's worked hard and continued to write amazing songs. So glad he's finally getting the chance to have his voice heard by a larger audience. This great debut album should bring him even more devoted fans. Thank you Sturgill Simpson for your collaboration with a fellow Kentuckian. That's what we do here.

One of the best albums in modern music

This album is on constant rotation in our house. Amazing songs and talent. I would not be surprised if it gets a "Best Album of the Year" Grammy nomination!

This album is the perfect soundtrack of Appalachia. If you live there, you relate to every lyric. If you don't live there, this album will bring you there. Tyler is a remarkable song writer, and his vocals are top notch. I can't think of a negative thing about this album. Buy it!

Awesome Appalachia

Purgatory takes a handful of Tyler's soulful, Eastern Kentucky tunes and turns them into mastered production pieces. The album takes his stories from the dive bars to the big screen.

Tyler Childers sound and lyrics are the stuff of legends. He's the best of Appalachia encompassed in one record. I pretty much want to get married tomorrow so "Lady May" can be my wedding song. And the first time listening to "Universal Sound" my jaw dropped when I heard the first line. As a West Virginian native Tyler's love for my state is refreshing and endearing ! I had been listening to the 3 track preview for a week now, and stayed up late to listen to it complete when it dropped and it just got better !!!

The images in the lyrics, mixed with Tyler's plaintive rasp and howl of a voice give this record a lot of power. At times it feels like a documentary about the places and people I knew growing up in Appalachia, but there's also a poetry that makes it universal. One of my favorite records of the year.

This is worthy of album of the year

I first found Tyler Childers at a music festival in Lewisburg WV. Since then, I have fell in love with his music and have followed him hours away to hear his passionate and fun music live. I grew up in southern WV, making me a fellow appalachian, and maybe that's why I connect so well with his music....It is the best music I have heard in years. Please take a listen.

I preordered this album as soon as I heard Sturgill was involved and was not disappointed. Great music

The live version of Whitehouse Road is way better on the Red Barn album. Who made the poor decision to NOT have the fiddle on the 2017 album??

I came late to the Tyler Childers party, but I'm extremely glad I stopped by for a drink. This is an exceptional recording. The songs are top notch, and the musicians and production simply excellent. I heard Sturgill Simpson was involved in the production. Congrats. If you are a John Prine and Steve Earl fan, check this out. You're going to want to crank it up a notch.

Probably one of the greatest singer/songwriters in my generation, everyone deserves to hear this man!

Hands down some the best genuine song writing I've heard in a long time. Tyler is a gem.

I've always loved anyone who can sing alone with a guitar and sound as good as they do with a full band. Tyler is one of those people. His voice is pure and sounds like home.

This is a great set of songs. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish! Love Feathered Indians the most but these are all great tunes in their own right.

I heard Tyler Childers on a music app. First song I heard was Feathered Indians. I was instantly in love. Came here, listened to song clips, purchased, and now I can’t get enough. My friends can’t get me to shut up. I listen to it all day every day. Then I bought Bottles and Bibles and put both on a playlist. Rinse and repeat all day. Absolutely some of THE most heart stirring music and singing I have heard in my entire life. I like all genres of music, but this kid here....you have brought me home to my music roots. God bless you Tyler Childers. Keep singing to my soul!!!!

Just buy this and listen start to finish. Great songwriting and playing throughout. Just saw Tyler in concert a week ago and was blown away by his talent. This is definitely going to be in my top 5 albums for the year.

Albums is straight fire

One of those albums where every song is your favorite. An intoxicating and impressive set of songs. Tyler will hopefully be around for decades to serve up more gritty, pure, Americana sounds. If you can't get into this I don't know what's wrong with you.

Loved every single track! If you want heart, soul, sound and your music to come to life, this is the album for you. Childers' voice brings the modern day Appalachia life to attention.
