Best song on the album

I’ve been a huge fan of Shinedown since 2002-2004ish somewhere in there when I heard them on the Grind soundtrack. I have also seen them twice in concert. Shinedown has always put out some of the best original music. Then came Threat to Survival. Of course I pre-ordered, Cut the Cord was a great track and it was Shinedown. Of course I was burned when it was the only song with any emotion on the album. Fast forward to this album, I purchased Devil because it was a good track and felt like the Shinedown of yesteryear... waited till the album was released to preview all the tracks. I bought 1 other song. Shinedown seems to have lost their edge and their soul. If you are looking for music with a little more heart to it check out Shaman’s Harvest or Royal Bliss.

Just terrible, what happened to old Shinedown?!?!

The last album was so commercial it had no rock sound...was Glad to hear a change in tempo and heavier guitar here on a couple. The whole album doesn’t return to a southern rock swing though. It’s also very commercial. Different, yes, but not real rock. And for all the anguished lyrics it’s devoid of emotion.

Shinedown are a truly original band. This is a great and unique album.

This album has its issues, there’s no doubt about it. Attention attention and kill your conscience were very weak points for me but I dig the vibe of the album. But where it truly got me was with Get Up because I hated that song on first play through. I couldn’t believe they’d waste time on that piece of crap Pop and viewed alone, it’s not a fun listen for a band such as this. But pair that with special like I believe was the intention and you have an absolutely debilitating piece of beautiful music. Not quite sure how they struck the chord like they did or managed to write these songs so perfect, but if you’ve ever felt the way both songs are, it will absolutely destroy and rebuild your soul because it’s an absolute shock to the system.

I’m not gonna bash Shinedown, since they are a favorite of mine, but I’ll be honest with my opinion. I feel that Amaryllis was the last album that really represents Shinedown as I came to know them from the very beginning (Leave a Whisper). I got to see them tour when they were up and coming, when Brad, Jasin and Nick were members. The music just hit you and left you knowing these guys were gonna be big favorites and they became just that. This new album Attention, actually puts me to sleep. It just doesn’t have the catchy harmonies, vocals, big riffs and drums. In some of the tracks I’m not sure that there are much of any guitars. I just don’t hear Zach being Zach and ripping it. Not sure who called for this change of direction, maybe the producer(s) or a band member(s). I took a chance on this album, already knowing that Threat to Survival wasn’t all that. Not that $10 is gonna break the bank, but if I could go back and decide...I wouldn’t have bought it. I hope Shinedown brings back the albums we’ve known them for. Anyhow, have a good day everyone.

Oh man Soo good (As per usual; nothing short of awesome) LOVE EVERY SONG!!!

The Sound of Madness is one of the best albums ever made. This is... not. "Devil" is one of my favorite songs ever, and when I heard that I was expecting the rest of the album to be great too. Well, the rest of the album is nothing like "Devil." There is one other very good song called "Special." The rest of this album will not be getting my attention anymore.

I’m a fan, but they set the standard so high with Sound Of Madness that everything after that record is regressive. Amaryllis was good. Survival was meh. This is just…man, I’m just so disappointed. I can’t listen to an entire song without wanting to skip to the next one, and the one after that, etc.

I guess shinedown is the next linkin Park and theory...

Laughable garbage from a band that sold out long ago.First 3 albums are good.

I’m not gong to lie, the last two albums I have been pretty disappointed. I love shinedown and when I saw they were coming out with another album I was pretty skeptical and expecting another pop rock version of what they have been doing. BUT songs like Devil and Black Soul take me back to the Sound of Madness days. Monster is by far my favorite song on the album just because it hits the old lyrics that Brent went deep with in the early 2000’s. As a big shinedown fan I will say there are a few songs on the album that are pretty poppy and stuck to that anthem type crap they had the last two albums. But overall I will put this as a top three album of theirs. Good comeback.

Attention attention is a great album start to finish. I love how they evolve with every album- no two albums sound the same! LOVE that! Top tracks: Creatures,Black Soul, and Monsters.

Hell yeah!

I am always taken aback by how people want more and more of the same. While I will agree this album is more "radio" friendly like the last one, its still good. It's not my favorite sound, but I bought it and still listen to it. I hope the entire industry makes a 180 back to more raw sounding music instead of production.

Just a great album. You can see their vision and how the story plays out from the first song to the last. Every song is amazing. Don't have a favorite; just have a favorite band. Rock on Shinedown!

what happened to them?!??!

You all have talent. But the previous album & this album sound like they were produced by Taylor Swift. Sound fidelity slightly declined I noticed with Amaryllis. Don’t get me wrong i love that album. Great song writing & true talent of all of you shining through. But Threat for Survival fell flat compared to all previous. Threat for Survival’s sound quality & the levels of the album were all over the place. 2 tracks sound 15db lower than the rest. Digital distortion through out. This album even is worse. Brent you have one of the best rock vocals out there. But you can’t even tell on this album because it’s got nothing but effects all over it and sounds distorted as hell. It’s not good. It’s a waste of all your talents with this rushed album, poorly engineered & dreadfully master album. Where are the melodies? Sounds like a bunch of noise. I can’t believe anyone thinks these 2 albums sound good. Sonically dreadful‼️‼️‼️

To anyone who says “ this isn’t Shinedown” and all that garage. Go ahead and leave! Seriously if you want a band who will keep making the same thing over and over again then be my guest. Just don’t get butthurt when a band wants to create something new.

The new sound doesn’t bother me, I enjoy it just as much as the old stuff! Shinedown is deffinatly on every playlist I make 😂👌🏻🤘🏻 awesome job guys!

you can not categorize or label greatness these guys use all means possible to make the best music possible, like all iconic bands like rush genesis zeppelin they continue to progress and develop along with technology and the times,great lyrics intense vocals and musical creativity never go out of style,these guys know how to do it and are true professionals ,if you haven’t noticed love the new album thanks Brent and boys.

First ever 5 star review. I've been listening to pop, rock, alternative and metal for over 50 years. This album is probably the best overall album -- song for song - that I have ever heard. Every song is great and I cant get the lyrics out of my head -- they're with me all day, every day. Best songs: Get Up, Brilliant, and Black Soul.... OUTSTANDING!

I honestly was unsure about this album at first because of the Shinedown I already knew, and not so sure about the "new" Shinedown. But this album is, in my opinion, the absolute perfect blend of their old style with a modern vibe to it. I love this album, and there is not one song I do not like from it. Devil, Attention Attention, and Black Soul have to be a few of my favorites.

A little heaviness on a few songs that made them big. Overall, still popish on most tracks.

Can’t stop listening to it

I love shinedown and I wanted to love this album. But I just couldn’t get into it. I understand bands need to evolve (no pun intended) but I feel like shinedown’s writing and music has become so distant from the post grunge/hard rock sound that got them here that I wouldn’t be able to tell it was in fact them had it not been for the very distinct vocals of Brent smith who is amazing live. I did enjoy threat to survival however I’d like to see a merging of the sound from their early works like Us and them and their more contemporary style like Threat to survival. Kinda bummed that I didn’t like this album as much as I wanted to but the vocals are still fire and that’s a big plus on their part, if it was any other band really I’d say it was complete trash.

This album is fast paced and heavy, I love every single song, especially “ATTENTION ATTENTION”. The only song that I’m kind of iffy about is “special”... doesn’t really fit the album and the lyrics are like so obvious in your face that it doesn’t take much to decipher it which takes away from the fun of music. Other than that, this album rocks, I’d highly recommend it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I love the idea of this album and can’t wait to see all the music videos. The important thing to remember for this album is that it is a concept album and meant to be listened to in order. I wasn’t too thrilled with the singles as they seemed a bit repetitive. My early favorites are Black Soul and Get Up/special (play them together). Keep up the good work Shinedown, I appreciate you! Just a follow up to my initial review: weakest songs are probably pyro and attention attention (maybe throw Darkside in there). Lyrically and musically this is a great album though. I’d probably put it on par with Amaryllis (for me anyway).

No words can fully describe my love for this album. I bought it a week ago and I haven’t listened to anything else since then. It’s that good. Thank you for blessing my ears with your music, Shinedown. I look forward to more in the future.

I'm a diehard Shinedown fan but this album is awful. So disappointed after Threat to Survival. Maybe 2 good songs the whole album.

Sober Brent is very blah. Not worth the money but I will always be a shinedown fan.

Sounds too rappy for me and just not what I am used to with Shinedown. The old music of theirs is so much better
