After the stilted and safe Ancient Melodies, this album finds BTS looser and more adventurous. Goodbye cool efficiency, hello spaced-out jams. Sounds like the natural follow-up to Perfect From Now On.

There are some good tracks here, but the longer songs lull with few changes. In the Built to Spill discography, this album falls somewhere between Ancient Melodies of the Future and There's Nothing Wrong With Love. Not their best work, but tracks like Goin' Against Your Mind, Wherever You Go, and Mess With Time, are worth the wait.

love the single!!! rest of album is great too. its been awhile Doug. Seen two shows since the last album and things were getting dry. I mean how many times can you play CAR. But kudos on You in Reverse!

This album is absolutly positively amazing....i was a little sceptical at first but that feeling passed when i heard every song on here. Key songs have to be "Liar", "Mess With Time" "Conventional Wisdom"...wait, they are all amazing. Just buy it immediatly if you are a built to spill fan you will love this album as much as any other if not more..go BUY IT NOW.

YOU IN REVERSE is a stepping stone for Built to spill. its way more mature. but they still kept their messy indie sense which is awesome. all of the songs are catchy. i definetely think you should buy this. some of their best songs are on this album. i would relate this the most to Perfect from now on. the melodies and guitar riffs are cool. all in all you can tell they put a lot of effort into this album and stayed true to their genre. BUY THIS

I saw Built to Spill at ACL for the first time this past fall. Since then, I've listened to Ancient Melodies and Keep it Like a Secret roughly one million times each. This new album is equally as solid, if not better. The band solos much more on this album.

this album isn't even near built to spill's potential. theres nothing wrong with love and keep it like a secret were incredible, and this album can't even compare. I hope they still play the great stuff at lollapalooza this summer

Sounds just like their old stuff. Built to Spill stays true to their roots. Great Music

While their chops are no doubt intact, BTS seems to have lost some of the poppiness that made their drawn out jams work so beautifully on Perfect From Now On. Now, it all seems to drag on. They're still fantastic live, though.

Finally the great Built to Spill has returned!!

Doug Martsch (terrific song writer, guitarist, and leader) of Built to Spill has done a good thing. He's taken Built to Spill back a few years to the looser, dreamy, jamming days that so endeared me to the band. "Going Against Your Mind" is soooo good. Long guitar intro before singing, nice mid-song breakdown/buildup. Great lyrics ("When I was a kid I, I saw a light/ Fly above the trees one night/ Thought it was an alien/ Turned out to be just God"). "The Wait" is all dreamy, noisy, and just what you need when there's a rain cloud above. Sometimes it is better to start with a band's older recordings when getting to know the music. For "You in Reverse", there's no need to go any further.

this album is great. less mechanical and more "full" sounding then there last release. It is definately a different feel than anything else they have done, but what fun would it be if it were exactly the same right? The guitars in this album will blow you away... built to spill is not capable of writing bad music, so buy this album. The wait and conventional wisdom are definately my favorites.

You will not hear any better music than this in 06.

This is another great Built to Spill album. You can listen to the whole thing and enjoy every song unlike most albums. They are a great band in general and this album is just more of their greatness. I definitly recommend buying this album. If you have the oppurtunity to see them live, go. They are absolutly incredible and they play this crazy reggea song thats not on any of their albums.

Good to have them back....just bought the album at Tower and after only one listening (on work time) it was well worth the money they were paying me. At work that is. Good interesting jammed out songs with a little edge to them. Wish they would tour out west!
