- MYLES KENNEDY!!!

Nice to know that Disturbed knows who the greatest singer alive is :)

- I’ve heard this before

It’s like Groundhog Day

- 🔥

😈🔥

- Disturbed, rattled, enraged!

So many sky high moments, so many rough down and dirty introspective moments. This disc achieves the near impossible- to move, to soothe, to incite, to enrage. It’s putting me through it!! ❤️

- Some people...

It’s amusing how some people say “It’s just like their other albums” and “It’s their same sound”. Like what the hell did you expect? It’s Disturbed, they’re going to keep rocking with new messages, new experiments (such as “Hold On To Memories”), and more ideas. If you want them to change their sound...listen to a new group. If you didn’t support this album in any way...you weren’t as loyal as you say. This album is the next step in their story and it’s only moving forward.

- Love it!!!

I’ve always loved disturbed this album is great. It totally follows their style. Keep rocking on

- Powerful and beautiful

I’ve always enjoyed the energy Disturbed provided. Their compositions have powered me through dark times and painful work outs too. Evolution provides all the energy of old with the addition of some thoughtful ballads. Totally satisfied with this musical endeavor. My money was well spent in my opinion. Well done gentlemen..

- Nearly half the album is ballads

4 of the 10 tracks on the regular album, and 2 of the 4 bonus tracks on the deluxe version are ballad/slow tempo songs. I don't know if the band was pressured by their label after the success of their Sounds of Silence cover or they made this decision themselves, but this isn't an "evolution" as the album title suggests. Of the 6 ballads, I like 2 of them, "A Reason to Fight" and "Uninvited Guest" - the others just seem to fall flat and/or forced. For a metal/hard rock band, once you veer past 1 or 2 ballads on an album you are getting into territory where you are clearly pandering for radio airplay. "SoS" was a nice, unexpected hit, but the beauty of it on the previous record was that it contrasted well with the rest of the songs and didn't feel forced. Tony Iommi once said (paraphrasing) that he enjoyed writing a slow tempo every now and again for an album, as it made some of the other tunes seem to rock harder by comparison. The best two examples I can recall of a band going too ballad heavy after seeing success with an unexpected hit is Aerosmith after their Pump album (they put 3 ballads that became singles on their next album, Get A Grip, and then even enlisted outside writers for help with ballads after that) and Red Hot Chili Peppers after their hit with Under the Bridge from Blood Sugar Sex Magik. RHCP went from a funk metal/rock band to a primarily ballad, low tempo band literally overnight. Sure, they racked up a number of hits and occassionally put out a rocker for a single, but for the most part they left their rocker roots in the rearview mirror after that. I would hate to see Disturbed go down a similar path. Included in the deluxe version is a duet with Myles Kennedy on Sounds of Silence, if you can call it a duet. Myles has a great range but is barely audible in this concert clip, and simply serves as a backup vocalist on this performance at best. The remix of the lead single, "Are You Ready," included on the deluxe version, actually takes away a lot of the power of the track.

- I am the new fan base

I’m 53 and have been waiting for those awesome lyrics to be put to something just like this... I love the whole thing.... I woke up singing ...Hold on to the Memories ...today on the first Anniversary w/ out my husband....I’m your new family too guys ... Naysayer move over!!! Thank you for every single song🖤

- Nothing to get excited about

I realize everyone’s a critic, so we’ll start with that. Went out and paid the $13.99 for the physical CD (support the artists, right?) but wish I would listened all the way through a few times on Apple Music first. I don’t listen to songs, or singles, I listen to the entire album over and over, because the single isn’t usually the best song on the album, it’s just the most accessible. The album as a whole is a little disappointing, at least compared to my expectations of Disturbed. I agree with some other comments that it’s a little boring, from the tempo to the lyrics. Still need to give it few times through and maybe it will grow on me a little more.

- Sad...

I’m a huge disturbed fan and was super excited for a new album, but this is awful. There’s nothing disturbed about this album, no spark like their older ones.

- What happened?

Disturbed broke up in 2011 and never really came back.....

- Give it a chance

Everyone boo hoos when things are different or not the way they want them to be, take this album for what it is, The band taking advantage of the softer side they displayed with the Sound of silence cover, is that a bad thing? No it’s not, Is it heavy like in the past? Some yes, but what’s wrong with David wanting to show that he can actually sing? Nothing

- Best Disturbed Album Ever

I am a massive Disturbed fan and this is the best album they have ever put out. I can honestly say I went into listening thinking I would buy 2-4 songs but I’m buying the whole album. I am a metal fan but don’t like the edge of some of the music. This is that perfect blend of metal and listenable singing. This is so good. My wife who hates metal, wants me to share the songs. That is the best feedback you could get.

- The Age of Disturbed is Unfortunately Over (Edited)

Unfortunately, I will never buy this album. Why? Because it doesn't sound like Disturbed. I have no idea what they were thinking with this album. It's like they were sitting in the studio one day and somebody just spoke up and said, "Hey guys! Let's take everything that made us great and throw it in the garbage!". Then, by some miracle, everyone agreed on it. Draiman himself said that Immortalized was their most successful album. Even that one to me was very different from their "old stuff", but it was a welcome change. I could definitely tell that it was Disturbed and I enjoyed, still do enjoy, listening to the album. But this.... this is just........ I honestly don't know. If you put a different singer behind the mic, I'd think this was a different band entirely. None of the musical elements sound like Disturbed. The only reason I didn't give this a one star rating is because I did in fact enjoy some of the softer songs. I am not one of "those people" who just write a one star review and say, "IT'S THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER!". Those people are either deaf or just trolling the iTunes review sections. I thoroughly listened to each track and I most certainly enjoyed certain elements. I personally thought the electronic/guitar sounds were different and catchy. If they incorporated those sound FX with Disturbed's signature sound, I would've seriously considered buying this album. Then again, if they sounded like Disturbed I would've bought it anyway! Also, what's with them getting rid of "The Guy" on their cover art??? All they had to do was add the eyes and teeth behind the DNA strand and I would've been happy. He first made an appearance on The Sickness album and after their Believe album, they have always found a way to incorporate him.<(Edited album name to The Sickness instead of Down with the Sickness after fact checking) Now they quit that legacy on their "best album" yet? *sigh* Yeah, this album would've been mine if they had gotten rid of the Disturbed branding. For example, I have Draiman's "side project" album in 2013 with Device. I love that album! It doesn't sound like Disturbed whatsoever besides having Draiman as the lead singer. That's ONE of the reasons I love the album! He's got a wonderful voice, even it is softer singing. With all of this being said, I personally think that the "age of Disturbed" has come to an end with this album. Draiman's voice just can't scream anymore and their signature sound has been abandoned entirely with this album. Farewell guys, it was a great run.

- Love the new take

This album reminds me of shinedown’s sound of madness and is a new high for Disturbed, even younger listeners to listen to. A big change but a good change.

- Same old sh&@

Remarkably boring.

- Lite but fantastic

Lightest album yet but very lyrical! Evolution is the perfect name for the album as this is like nothing they ever produced. It’s Very good!!!!! Great job guys!!!!

- Pure junk

I hate to compare old to new but it’s hard with this one. I love that rock/metal is coming back but this is a disgrace whole album is horrible this should not represent new rock. Waisted $13

- Disappointed

I couldn’t wait for this album, but I’m disappointed. I think Florida-Georgia Line’s last album was heavier.

- Great album!

It’s definitely different than the Disturbed we are all used to, but this album is very well done with the max of heavy in soft songs. I wouldn’t mind hearing some ballads on every album but maybe not quite as many on one album. I still love the heavy stuff!

- ugh

welcome to the nickleback of metal...

- REALLY?

hat's with this orchestrated slow stufff. YAWN!!!!!

- Largely a disappointment....

I have followed Disturbed from the beginning, and have all of their albums including this one. They’ve had some awesome songs that I will always love, but this album by far is their worst. First song had a lot of energy, the rest is rehashed political trash and soft crooning acoustic. I had high hopes, but I think this is where I divorce this band. I guess as long as you feel the ‘message’ is important, your sound doesnt matter. Sad.

- Never Disappoints

Disturbed has continuously delivered amazing quality and stayed true to their sound.

- Great album!!!!

Really shows how the band has matured. Even though I prefer heavier songs they can play softer songs really well.

- woof

the heavier songs on the album sound like they were ripped right from five finger death punch, the lighter songs on the album, which there are way too many, sound boring and like they were done quickly just to get the album done and over with. Only could handle about 2 listens through of it before i totally lost interest which hasnt happened with a disturbed album besides asylum.hey have totally lost their sound and their touch.

- Eh

Seems like just a money grab...

- Sold out hard

Is it just me or does this album sound like the last three? Sound of Silence got all the hipsters on board

- Its decent

Everyone is hating but I kind of like it.... 1 or 2 really slow boaring songs but i'll take it... Big Disturbed fan here...

- Sick

Watched them live for their first performance of this new album drop!!!

- Great album!!

I agree this may be their best album! I have been a Disturbed fan since Down With the sickness! I love how he does hard and soft songs on this album! Great album!! I love it!!

- Disappointing to say the least.

Went for a softer more artistic approach after the success of Sound of Silence. Disturbed has always been prepare for battle music. Misses the mark with this one.

- This album is amazing, I won't lie.

Change is not always bad, as long as you don't try to deny it while embracing it. The only complaints I have are semantics. The Sam de Jong remix has no reason to exist, and the CD case is in a format I don't care for, mainly because it's too big for my case. But the album is amazing even with all that in mind.

- Awesome

Once again Disturbed has proven themselves to be superior to all other bands

- Fabulous!

I love Disturbed and this album does not disappoint. Have had on repeat for days.

- Regretting the pre-order

After the first single I was pumped, but I'm really put off by a large portion of the album. I can't even listen to the 3,6,8 and 10. Many seem to have more of a tender emotional presence then usual, but some songs are still really worth it. Weirdly one of my faves is a bonus song, called The Venom. It's not too much. I really think I would have bought these songs. Are You Ready? No More. In Another Time. The Best Ones Lie. The Venom. I might have considered Saviour Of Nothing, but it's a toss up. See if you can save a buck, or two, and just order the good stuff, is a moral for the future.

- Neh

All sounds the same. No good riffs. Not heavy enough. No More Ballads Please!

- 🤘

🤘

- Different, Time will tell if Good or Bad

I'm actually going to write a review that is going to differ itself from the extremes that seem to be plaguing iTunes reviews lately. I've been following Disturbed since Ten Thousand Fists. That said, I am not familiar with their earliest works but I feel I know them enough to make a judgment call on their new album. It definitely feels like Disturbed is testing the waters with a more acoustic, hearfelt album that's riding on the heels of the band's immense success with their "Sound of Silence" cover. If you liked that song, you'll like this album. Evolution varies greatly with the sounds of its songs. "Are you Ready", "No More" and "Stronger on Your Own" sound more like the Disturbed we've gotten to know over the years with David Draiman's excellent vocals over that hard rock sound. Then there's "A Reason to Fight", "Hold on to Memories" and "Already Gone" which are quite literally straight up acoustic. It's a different sound for Disturbed. I haven't quite made up my mind whether it suits them or not, but you can't argue that Draiman's abilities are still top notch in this album. The lyrics of these new songs are powerful and the choruses are melodic and beautiful at times, showcasing that the band can put out an acoustic song with the best of them. The question isn't whether they can, Evolution answered that, they can, but it's if they should. I'll be making up my own mind on that one soon enough, but fans at least owe it to Disturbed to give the album a serious couple listens before falling to one side of the fence or another.

- Very Disappointed

This is not Disturbed. This is not the brand that they have sold us for the last decade and a half.

- meh

please support smaller bands like New Years day or Palaye Royale

- Greatest metal album of all time!

This is beyond the black album or any other great metal album out there! These guys pour their heart and soul into this work and it really shows! I love this album and I own hundreds of metal albums and thousands of other albums, this is the greatest work I have encountered so far! These guys have been around for like 20 years and this is their absolute best! This album is amazing, intense, complex and innovative! Get it now you will not be sorry!

- Garbage

this whole dam album is trash. not a single good song on it. this isnt disturbed at all its garbage. a band that came back from the ashes of their last trash album just to go full emo and political for no reason. Just hang it up. im glad itunes and youtube lets you preview all the songs so i dont waste any money on this. RIP Disturbed.

- Mid life crisis.

This album is weak. Weak songs, sappy lyrics, melodramatic emotion meant for country songs and boy bands. There is nothing metal about this. Disappointing. More light rock and slightly agitated than metal and Disturbed.

- eh

too pop music like. i hated last album, this album sounds like a pop album

- The Evolution of Disturbed!

I could give this album five stars simply because the live performance of "The Sound of Silence" with Myles Kennedy is on it! I get goosebumps every time I hear that rendition of that song. Yes, this album is quite different from previous albums, but I love how the band shows a bit of their softer side with "Hold On to Memories" and yet also still shows David Draiman's trademark growl in "Are You Ready" and "This Venom".

- Not the Disturbed I know

I don't know what the hell this is, but it isn't Disturbed. Is this an acoustic album. Very disapointing.

- I am glad I didn’t buy this

I can count on 2 fingers the number of songs I like on this record...with one finger left over. Swing and a miss.

- If this is their idea of evolution

..:then it's time to get off of the disturbed train. This is horrible. I wish I could get a refund. Enough of songs about the media and bad government. Make your next title Renaissance and back it up with stuff like Indestructible, or just shut the whole thing down. Evolution is a disgrace.
