- Absolutely terrible!

It’s as if they transferred their focus from what we originally loved about them to satisfying the taste of teeny boppers who enjoy their daily dose of Bieber. The last two albums are complete garbage! A no-star option is validly warranted for this hot mess of sound.

- Dang homie

This album is fire period

- Garbage

This album is a let down. They’ll be doing choreographed dancing for the next album with their new pop sound.

- Crap

As it states, way to sell out the band.

- Honestly terrible

This has to be a joke. This radio pop is nowhere near what they used to be. Don’t get me wrong, the lyrics were always weak, but this is just ridiculous. No talent required for this. Not metal, not good.

- Love it!

I can’t stop listening to this album. Very clever lyrics and the songs have a great vibe. Yeah it’s pop rock. But it’s great music. Standout tracks: Heavy Metal, Wonderful Life, Mother Tongue, sugar, honey, ice, & tea

- Interesting.

I didn’t know PVRIS dropped a new album.

- Good

Surprisingly good. Different. I listened to it expecting it being different because of reviews. Listen to it not expecting to hear BMTH, just as pop music or whatever.

- Wow

Changed genre but still awesome 🤟🖤

- Rip

I had the strongest urge to start a pillow fight listening to this.

- Eveyone is skeptical

Album is ok. It is not that memorable as the other albums . I got bored of it very fast .

- Extremely disappointing.

If your expecting BMTH this isn’t it. Not even close! Don’t be surprised if, like most fans, you hate it. As for it being a pop record, it’s not even a good one at that.

- One star

No caption needed

- Living for my boys <3

I’ve listened to them since their HEAVY rock so I’ve always really enjoyed seeing them have such beautiful meanings behind the songs as well as experimenting with new sounds and styles. I’m so happy this album came out since it is so new and fresh for them as well as it just being a BANGER as usual.

- Get over it people

These people are just upset BMTH OG’s who only listened to Edge of Your Seat, Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season. It may not be their best album, but it’s a great pop album. I thought it was a great album, and everybody who disagrees just can’t handle the fact that Bring Me the Horizon is not deathcore anymore. Get over it people.

- Interesting

I liked them better as a rock band. This is not bad stuff I purchased four of the songs on here, mostly the more solid tracks that sound more like their old stuff. I like the other genres they’re trying to incorporate just a lot of the songs are just missing “that something” and seem like just random sounds. If your not going to have hard hitting lyrics, guitar riffs and drum solos, you gotta have a poppy sound or catchy beat and lyrics to make the other genres work. I like the mixing genres I always found the idea of rock with techno, rap with rock, pop with and edge and the like to be more interesting than one single genre, (save for like country and rap...that should just not happen) but they seem to have missed their stride on most of the songs in the album.

- Different but i love it

My two favorites are mantra and heavy metal

- Unique and Brilliant

Every time I listen to Amo, I find new things to enjoy. There is so much texture to the music, and so many lyrical twists, that I can't stop listening. While there is plenty of "heavy"in this album, BMTH tends to deliver through percussion, keyboards or cutting lyrics instead of with distorted guitars. And it works for me, a guy who listens almost exclusively to heavy metal.

- What happened?

This band was amazing. Now they release this and it is absolutely awful.

- New sound

The last time I listened to BMTH was back in 2010. I LOVE their new sound & the album really speaks to someone who is going through a bad relationship.

- New Fan!

Never heard of BMTH before late January. Had one of their videos pop up randomly on YouTube and was very intrigued. This album is amazing if you are someone who has eclectic tastes in music. Heavy Rock, Pop, Electronica, all sorts of genres blended really well within an album that is an astonishing listen from start to finish. There isn’t a single track I’d skip when listening to this. It is just so well thought out and put together. I don’t care what this band used to sound like, since I just found them, but they sound freakin’ glorious here.

- Band needs a name change.

If you have been a fan from the first album, you know this is not the same band. This music needs to be re-categorized into the pop genre.

- Change isn’t bad

I like it

- Thank you and Goodbye.

I really like the new album. The melodic twist sounds great and it’s nice to finally hear Oliver’s actual voice. However, I do miss the heavy breakdowns and growls of early BMTH. I understand why the band “evolved,” and I hope they will continue to pursue whatever genre they want to become. Sadly, this is where I too move on. Metal bands come and go, and It’s finally BMTH’s time. I wish you all the best of luck. It’s time for me to discover new metal bands and stay back in 2010 while you move on. Thanks for the music.

- Why

This is a new thing it doesn’t build on what they have done this is very much a reset , they should have changed there name that’s the issue here

- Big fan

Love the sound and the songs!

- New to BMTH

First heard BMTH on SiriusXM and I like them. Can’t compare other albums to this one. Just know can’t go on screaming songs forever, right M Shadows? Anyway... I like this album. Who knows what Oli and the guys will come up with next. 🤘🏻🎶

- Hats off to them

It won’t be long but this was such a powerful album. I’ve been listening to bmth since Chelsea smile, but I’d never thought they’d do something like this. Until their sound started to change and that was fine when they did they always made it work. And then this album comes and it’s something that is beautiful and is able to hit so many elements while also addressing many barriers. It’s just Ana amazing album and I’d be dumb not to own it, at the very least give it a few listen throughs before making a judgement.

- Woah Amo...

I preordered the album and personally I don’t believe I really heard what the album was going to be like, because every song that was dropped was rock then the album came and it turned out those were the only rock songs on the album and the rest were electronic. I’m not saying there bad in fact I enjoyed it but because I know BMTH to be a rock bad I had a face of disappointment my first listen through, even if I liked the song. Of course the second listen I enjoyed the album and got over my initial shock. Also, I must disagree with Oli when he said rap is the new rock and rock is boring and dead... absolutely not. Overall, I think you should listen before you buy, it was lucky I liked the album.

- Love this album

Another great album by a great band. I love this change. I don’t understand why people hate this album, if you want them to sound like their previous albums then why don’t you listen to those albums. I am glad a band is changing their sound and you know what they sound great. Fantastic album BMTH. Waiting for your next album.........

- Bring me the sell outs

This is NOT sempiternal

- When electron music destroys good music.

Just trying to fit in to make a quick buck. They want to get invited to all these stupid festivals. Now their music has no soul, lazy work. They want to sit on stage and have some dj play their music for them. I’m all for their last 3 album. But I this I’ll take a hard pass and not install any of this on my phone. The empty space if worth more than this. And I don’t buy digital, I own the cd.

- Filth

I haven’t a problem with BMTH changing their sound as I love count your blessings all the way up to that’s the spirit which is a drastic difference in sound. So that’s not why I gave this album a one star review, rather it’s that this new album is such a blistering pile of hot garbage. Every other BMTH album is different from the last but there is still that distinct BMTH sound while in amo they completely one hundred percent changed to what they thought would sit with the biggest audience i.e. selling out. Kinda sad tbh cuz this band introduced me to metal and was my favorite artist for awhile and to to see them degenerate to this is depressing.

- Did I accidentally click on some sort of new age pop crap?

Wow this is horrible and did not expect this from them. Won't be buying a single song. Why do bands feel like they need to change to make people happy? Stick to what got you there.

- There’s no BMTH here

Long story short is this a BMTH album for non BMTH fans. It’s music. Decent music I guess. But I wouldn’t look here for anything that resembles what these guys used to be.

- Lost their balls... Sad

BMTH used to be awesome and heavy and angry. Now they created this poppy bubblegum crybaby album. Their just another sellout band. So sad. I really was looking foreword to this album.

- Third eye blind collaboration

I decided to listen to the album cover to cover several times before judging for myself. Now that the album is a couple months old I can give and honest low rating. BMTH went softer with That’s the spirit but it was still a great album that had an original sound. This new album amo sounds like Oli stood in for third eye blind. I know they were pushing for sales and financial gain which I support, I just don’t think this album will achieve that. There are a few catchy songs, mantra on the single had me thinking this could work... and then songs like medicine and sugar honey ice and tea that are just awful. Please rebound and get back to your roots on the next album because I am embarrassed to have some lyrics from follow you tattooed on my ribs right now.

- It ain’t heavy metal

Some good songs

- Sell outs

Definitely trying to tap into a larger market just to make more money and sound or be a band they definitely are not.

- It’s alright

Their past albums were a lot heavier and just overall better. They’ve seem to have shifted from rock/metal into a pop rock sound. However, there are a couple good songs on this album.

- Different but VERY enjoyable

Worth the money. Keep supporting a band even if they decide to experiment or grow.

- Not the worst but far from the best...

I like this album and I really appreciate them experimenting. However almost all songs got old really fast. Mother tongue and medicine sound so radio that I literally will do anything to not listen to it again. It’s over played and boring now. However tracks like “I don’t know what to say” and “Nihilist blues” are absolutely amazing songs.

- New sound

It’s different than old BMTH and not at all what I expected, but all great musicians evolve their sound, right?

- Great Album!

👏🏼 the band takes risks with their sound in this album. It is a great listen for those willing to accept “new” music and change. Lyrically awesome song writing.

- What is this?

I don’t mind a band evolving over time and adapting their music and pushing themselves to try new things, but I have no idea what this is. This is BMTH trying to fit into a cookie cutter mold of what mainstream pop is today and let producers run wild while abandoning rock music. Oli said there hasn’t been a rock icon in 30 years but rather than try and change that, become that icon, he decides the band will just jump ship and enter the fray of what everyone else is doing. Oddly in doing so, there is no real differentiator or reason to even look at BMTH now because what they are doing is being done by many others. Kinda sad

- Love it

I like all of their music and it’s good music. Good lyrics and good sound. Who cares if it’s not like their old stuff? It’s still good.

- TNBMTH (The New Bring Me The Horizon)™︎

Listen to any of the singles before you purchase. Sykes said he is done with rock and that pop is where it’s at, but this is a pop-rock album. It’s a great pop-rock album, but the band should have not taken the path of Metallica in doing so. When a novelist presents a new genre of story to their publisher, they are advised to write under a pseudonym (IE Nora Roberts becoming JD Robb because romance fans don’t want to read sci-fi). Misha of Periphery has several projects. His prog metal and djent-y music go into Periphery, the rest of “Bulb”’s work goes into other projects. Why musicians don’t practice this, I will never know. However, if you’re still reading this, or if you’re the band, this is a great pop rock album. It’s better (and heavier) than anything Sal penned with My Darkest Days. And, while pop rock bands, like Nickelback, have been making heavier music as of late, it’s still not metal. In Nihilist Blues, the lyrics, “won’t somebody raise the roof” made me cringe. But, on the whole, the band’s lyrics have evolved and become more image intensive. Great visuals from a lyrical stand point, but musically... ...well, let’s just say the band hasn’t found THEIR formula yet. It sounds like they’re writing with an “idiots guide to writing pop songs” and they are blending Japanese Pop with what’s selling in the US this month. Maybe the drummer got a Roland TD-20 V-drum set, and maybe the guitarist bought a used Roland GR-33 on eBay and they jammed one day, and said, “we could do this live!” Maybe the band’s producer said, “Oh, you’re behind in your mortgage? Well, the music industry is in “Disco-2” phase, so if you wanna make money, you need to cater to POPULAR music.” Meanwhile, in Scandinavia, you only get girls if you’re writing power metal or Viking metal. So, what’s pop in one place isn’t popular everywhere. And, if you’re here to listen to any kind of metal, keep moving, because this album is a heavy pop-rock album. Albeit a very good one, but it’s formulaic. There are parts of songs with skull rattling bass lines meant for subs at clubs. The songs aren’t written to get stuck in your head in the shower, they are written to compliment the lyrical theme of each song, and convey its message. It’s got a few songs that are catchy in spots, but the gratuitous use of melodyne / autotune’s vocoder-like plug ins, and vocaloid effects is over the top. It’s not because anyone can or cannot sing; these effects are used to give it the pop feel. It’s always strange when talented musicians utilize tactics that are used by untalented persons to hide flaws, simply because the talented musicians are trying to “do that, too.” Needless to say, the album will sell once pop fans hear it. But the pop fans may be driven away by the old metal fans, leading me back to wondering why the band just didn’t amend their name (the way New Kids On The Block changed to NKOTB). That would have sent a clear signal to listeners that there is a difference, and expectations should be different, as well. But, if you are a lover of all music types, this album does what Sykes meant for it. They’re not kings of pop with this, but more radio channels will play this music, and the band will get paid to play radio festivals. Personally, I would have rather seen them evolve like Japan’s Girugamesh, with the ‘Music’ and ‘Monsters’ albums, which were inspired by Linkin Park, but Girugamesh did it with style and panache. Sykes and BMTH did Amo with gusto, but it seems like they were trying REALLY HARD to write a pop rock album, instead of just writing rock with some pop inspiration behind it. In the end, there IS musical evolution here, just not on the scale of change between The first and last album of, say, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. This was a genre jump, not an organic evolution of their material and writing style. Just like what Metallica did. Thrash, hard rock, alternative rock. Very sudden and very obvious change. Who cares if it’s for money. The band needs to eat, pay their bills, and pay their mortgage, and I respect that. But, at that point, use a pseudonym, gang. My wife and my toddler LOVE IT. Especially Mantra. The baby got up and started dancing. He loves everything. This baby will dance to Amon Amarth, Metallica, Michael Jackson and Mozart. But he ran over and grabbed my wife’s phone and tried to throw it on the floor when we played him BeeGees. Maybe he hates Barry Gibbs’ voice, or he just hates original disco. But he loves AMO. The thing is, jumping to that style in a sudden stroke is going to damage the relation with old fans and confuse potential new fans.

- Awesommmeee

Love this album

- I dig the change

100% feel this album & support it 🤙🏼 EDIT: I originally gave this 5, stars after listening to it one time, but three days later I still can’t stop and I just came back to say I wish I could give it 10 stars.

- Meh.

Couple good songs. Nothing to get too excited about.

- 💔

I appreciate this album was trying to explore new sounds and ideas but ... long story short there are 4 good songs. YES I know bands ‘change’ and that’s fine but how did we get here, from a heavy metal band with brutal screams, to completely clean vocals and electronic sounds. The song ‘heavy metal’ Litteraly sounds like them saying I know we’re not metal anymore, deal with it, and is ironically one of the better songs on the album. I’m disappointed and I am that kid from the ‘gram who said he used to be a fan 💔

- Four piece?

There's 5 members of BMTH...

- Surprised

I didnt expect this. Not really rock but I really enjoyed the beats. More dance.

- Amo

Best album yet

- What a fall from grace

Seriously Mantra and Wonderful Life are the only semi decent songs on the album just buy them and scrap the rest, without a doubt the worst album BMTH have ever made and it’s upsetting to say the least.

- Medicine

Please don’t let medicine be the sound of the new album. It’s linkin park all over again.

- Amazing!

Outstanding album with an amazing aesthetic. BMTH yet again, did not disappoint. Love it.

- This is horrendous

First of all there's 5 members to Bring Me... Oli Sykes, Matt Kean, Matt Nichols, Jordan Fish and in case you forgot Lee Malia Second if you search for Sell Out in the dictionary, this band will be the example, can't believe they used to be my number 1 favourite band! It's actually hilarious how awful Bring Me have turned out.

- Different but great!

If you are looking for the old bmth sound, you won’t find that here. However this album is still fantastic. It has a range of genres involved that make it unique. It’s an enjoyable listen 😁 give it a chance!

- Amazing

Love it

- Penggg

In the dark, nihilist blues, ouch 🤙🤙

- Generic Electronic Pop!!

They lulled us with Mantra and Wonderful Life, but the rest of the album is just pop, this isn’t BMTH avoid like the plague!!, sempiternal was there last great album

- ❣️❣️

Such a good album, love every song!!! So impressed

- BMTH

Stunning! I know others want more “heavy” and hard rock but the lyrical content and whatnot is brilliant! I’m personally in love with this album.

- Can’t believe this was my favourite band.

The first album they’ve realised I won’t be buying. They sold out to the pop world byeeee

- Amazing

Just like every album they made. Well done

- All the people complaining are cucks

Legit liking one style of music is saddening and complaining about a band using creative experimentation on their music is bratty to say the least. Be more open minded and let them enjoy themselves if you don’t like it don’t listen to it instead of whining about them not being metal and saying it’s trash music because it’s not and I’d like to see you produce even a singular decent song.

- Sick

Bangs

- Masterpiece

This album has it all, rock, metal, rap, dance, pop. After a few listens I can safely say this is refreshing and brilliant!

- Great album!!!

I’ve been waiting for this album since the Cult posters were put up and I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. Each song has a different sound or style which makes it unique. Great Job BMTH!!!

- Amazing album yet again!!

This album gave me life. I’ve been listening to it non-stop. I love the emotion in the lyrics and the aesthetic of the album! Bring Me The Horizon killed it!!!

- Oh Dear

If ever a band sold out on its beliefs, this is it. From real Metal, to Pop Rock. Can't believe what these guys have become. It will no doubt sell bucket loads but not for me. No doubt they are a lot wealthier for the change in still, but how do they live with themselves producing this non descript mush??

- Another great one

Gotta say I’ve supported you guys since suicide season and now you just keep bringing the bangers

- Quality 👌

In my opinion Bring me the Horizon are one of those bands that can venture into different genres and find a way to make it interesting and this album showcases this. I love the diversity of this album with songs that lean on the heavy rock side of things (Like MANTRA, wonderful life and Heavy Metal) and songs that are more experimental with a heavier emphasis on the electronic/pop elements (Like nihilist blues and medicine). I also really liked all the artists BMTH decided to include because they each helped spice things up a bit by injecting their own sounds into the songs their featured on. Overall I was surprised and really happy with the sound they went with on this album and I think they nailed the mix of different genres here. I also just want to mention that “I don’t know what to say” is the beautiful song on the album. Great job lads 👍

- BMTH breaching their creative boundaries with panache

BMTH with their anthem’esc songs plus a few cool surprises. Love it. Never a dull moment with these guys. To me they just get better and they certainly make listening interesting

- Hmmm...

I don’t know? One or two OK songs on here but the rest isn’t really for me. I’m sure some people love it and that’s OK. Just think the direction this album heads towards is not really my kinda thing. Think That’s The Spirit was my cut off point.

- Disappointing

Are bring me the horizon trying to get into r&b or something?

- BMTH but not as we know it.

Okay listened to it all and I think if they hadn’t have pre warned us with Medicine and mother tongue people would be burning copies of amo in the street! It’s not a rock album that’s for sure it’s going to take a few listens it feels like it’s an experiment and hopefully it’s the end of this sound for bmth and we can get back to regular schedule programming. That being said as an album it’s not bad and I think if it wasn’t for the fact bmth had 15 years of heavy behind then I wouldn’t be so dispointed with this release I think the way to approach it is listen to it and think of it as a side project by Oli and Jordon.

- Amazing

I’ve loved BMTH since the metal core days too and I’m loving this album. Hate to break it to you all but they make music for themselves, not their fans. Either love it or lump it. T’ra haters, bye bye now. See ya

- Love love love

Really eclectic mix of songs- Don’t write it off if you weren’t keen on Medicine. I instantly feel in love with ‘Why you gotta kick me when I’m down’. A different sound for the band, but it’s not a bad thing; definitely give it a listen.

- 💩

wonderful life and mantra are the only decent songs on the album. the rest are some pop rubbish.

- amo

Amazing album! Love how they keep changing and adapting their music

- Pop trash

I’m a massive fan of bmth . Unlike a lot of people I don’t like the srceamy stuff they did before sempiternal . I like heavy music but that was just a racket to me . Sempiternal is probably my fave album of all time . I liked that’s the spirit also . Although you could see the way they were going . Today I downloaded the new album I didn’t really like the singles but hoped there would be some more rocky tunes on there . Unfortunately I was disappointed ... it’s pop trash and the songs aren’t even good pop songs . I suppose some of the songs will do well in night clubs etc because of the beats and heavy synth but I’ll be deleting this again as it’s really a disappointment and pretty boring tbh

- Erm...

We will always have Sempiternal...

- 😪

Loved mantra loved wonderful life but the other songs sound like a rubbish pop band this has put me off buying the album and it’s such a shame cus I am a big fan

- Not as good as past albums

There’s only 1 song I like on that album and it is “medicine” that is the only song I will pay for, the rest of the album seems kinda like a mix of electro pop and rock which degrades the fact that it’s under the category of rock music because it’s more of a pop album than a rock album, I’ll just stick to listening to Sempiternal if I want to listen to a whole BMTH album.

- Not what your used to but not disappointed.

I have mixed feelings on this album. I wasn’t a huge fan of bmth until Sempiternal/That’s the Spirit. So I’m not a “bring back old bring me” fan. I loved both previous albums. This one is an odd one. As someone who doesn’t like dance/rave music a lot of the songs were disappointing. I listen to bmth for the dark chords and melancholy lyrics (which in some tracks are present) Don’t get me wrong I completely understand their change of style and should be allowed to experiment. This will draw a new audience in who may not have enjoyed their old music, so I get it. If that introduces them to Bring me’s older stuff also....I can see why they’ve gone this direction. I also think it’s great for a band to progress and not stay stagnant. This album personally for me was disappointing. There were tracks on the album I feel that was used for filler. Had no substance to them. I absolutely adore Wonderful Life, Mantra and Medicine (after a few listens) Tracks I did quite like were: In the dark Heavy metal Sugar, honey & ice tea. Overall not the best album by them. But will continue to support them as a band purely because of the respect I have for the band as a whole and the albums before this one.

- AMO IS AMAZING

The album is just epicc 🔥 never really listens to bmth before but I’m in love with this!!! 🥰🥰 January ended with a bang!!

- Different

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- Great new sound

Didn’t think I’d like it at first but there new sounds great love how they can just change there style and make it work

- What happened

You’ve lost your anger rage and passion compare hospital of souls from sempiternal to any of the songs. Old school bath is the best

- Sick

Making rock more accessible - brave and it works. Job well done.

- Real mixed bag, avoid if you like their heavier music

Couple of great tracks and some utter tripe. Even with an open mind there are some really poor tracks on here, wish I’d not bought it as the first 2 singles are so better than the rest of the album.

- Love it!

Now.. I started listening to Bring Me when pray for plagues came out.. my music taste has expanded greatly since then and this album is bomb 💥 It mixes so many genres of music, Jordan Fish can do no wrong! If you’re on the fence.. check it out!

- THE REVIEW FOR OLDER FANS

Despite containing a lot of pop elements, the way a lot of these songs are structured make the product quite experimental. It comes across that the album's intention is to prove that "pop" music can also be "out there" in terms of songwriting. I strongly advise you push aside the fear of the album, stay really open minded while listening to the lyrics and instrumentals. I'll admit, it's a bigger jump than That's the Spirit from Sempiternal - I didn't expect anything rocky and was still shocked at the outcome, but with that said it's honestly not bad (coming from a fan who has listened to and loves every album they have released, especially the heavier stuff)! Good work BMTH, I look forward to where you go from here.

- Meh

Don’t like most of the album and I was really looking forward to it.

- Heard the whole album

The album is like dance music with some really boring so called “rock” songs. Some of the songs you wouldn’t even know were bring me the horizon, one sounds like a chipmunk on methh. So yeah back to their roots with this album because it’s awful, sempiternal and that’s the spirit are the only good stuff they ever did, be a nothing band without those albums.

- Incredible

Been a fan since 2010 and have seriously grown up with their sound, best era yet

- Crap

Crap

- Bring me more

Love this album. Was looking forward to its release and not disappointed. Good for BMTH they’ve managed creativity, energy, sensitivity and loudness all on one album. Completely unpredictable and refusing boundaries. Ace
