Ultraviolence by Lana Del Rey Song Info
"Ultraviolence" is a song about an abusive relationship, as Lana recounts her experiences of being in a relationship with someone who had "ultraviolence" or extreme, violent behavior. The song is told from the perspective of the person experiencing the abuse, as they struggle to cope and come to terms with the situation. Lana talks of being "filled with poison" and how her partner "hit [her] and it felt like a kiss". She goes on to describe how despite the abuse she feels a deep connection and love for the person and does not expect anyone to understand what she is going through, calling him her "cult leader". The song is a heartbreakingly honest account of the difficulty of navigating and leaving an unhealthy relationship. It is the second track of Lana Del Rey's third studio album, Ultraviolence.
