Volbeat - Die to Live (feat. Neil Fallon) Song Lyrics

It's 7:02, breaking all the rules
Dance the boogie-woogie and let's fire up the booze
'Cause we die to live, we die to live
We know about the law, but that won't get us far
When the rattlesnake is shaking and the gun is on the floor
'Cause we die to live, we die to live

We can go all night 'til the morning light
And the mayor will be there too
Call the cops who got all the drugs
And then send them home by noon
Let it burn, let it burn
Oh, well, let it burn, let it burn

Rebellious attitude, your mama's got it too
We can't do nothing right when wrong is what we do
'Cause we die to live, we die to live

- Not digging it

I really enjoyed this bands older music and have been following them for a bit. Their last album had one or two songs that hit home but I have yet to hear anything I like here. Fallen will be one of my favorite songs by this band and I am having a really hard time seeing them making anything else that can beat it. I hope they get back to their old sound with future albums

- Lame

They can do better. Not much effort for a very talented band

- Still rocks!!!

I’m not sure if all these negative reviews are from the first single, but all their albums have this type of song. This band rocks and I guaranty the rest of the album will too.

- Love this song!

Love all their stuff but this is such a good song!!

- My jaw hit the floor - Metal Elvis

Volbeat seems to be channeling 50’s Rockabilly music with a heavy twist in this one. I love it! This could be their seminal album. Yes, long time fans will not like it but this is a crossover that will reach a much wider audience.

- Thanks, Nickelback!

What happened to the old Volbeat? The one I liked? This crap blows. It's not rock or metal at all. Pop junk.

- Real bad

It’s like I don’t even know this band anymore

- Mmmmm not sure yet

Ok so a big fan of the previous heavy stuff, but I realize bands try new stuff, evolve, and voice new sounds with each album. I am ok with this. The songs released hear sound alittle popish happy, I like leviathan out of the two full songs ( I don’t count the one that runs for 30 sec). It has a snappy beat, good guitar, and you can sing along with it. It is not necessarily something I am going to use to get fired up to at the gym or riding. I hope some of the other songs have alittle more power to them, I am still a fan but will probably listen to more of the older stuff. This album will make the playlist just for a different mood.

- Awful

Volbeat has been my favorite band from the first time I heard them years and years ago. Over the years the albums have slowly declined. The last album had two or so good songs on it. This album has none. Not even sure what the hell im listening to

- Rewind, Rip to shreds and discard

There are minor moments in this album that have elements of the Volbeat we love. They arrive and leave immediately with Pelvis of Fire. The live version of Everlasting is better than the studio version. Other than that, the title of this says it all. I cannot believe they put an album like this together. I became a fan of this band when I heard sad mans tongue back in the day. I do not know who this band is anymore. This is utter radio trash and how you are on stage right now with Gojira and Slipknot disgusts me. Congratulations on removing yourself from the metal genre.

- Pop Album

I’m pretty disappointed. The sound that attracted me to Volbeat initially has disappeared and replaced with pop riffs and cheesy lyrics. I LOVE the metal/horror punk/outlaw country mash up Volbeat used to sound like. This album is not that. I give it 2 stars because I don’t think it’s so bad to give it 1 star. But it’s definitely their worst album to date.

- It’s Good Music!

I understand that the first couple songs were a little generic, but that’s always the way singles work before an entire album is released. This is good straight up rock and roll which is something that’s really missing these days. Gotta love Volbeat!

- Embarrassment.

Two solid tracks, Leviathan and Cheapside Sloggers. The rest is rehashed rubbish! Can't believe how many sections of the songs are complete copies of their previous work.

- Love it

Their latest music is terrific. What a great band to rock to! There music never disappoints.

- Who needs The Misfits when you have Volbeat

Love the record! Old time fans may be dissapointed, but they just got a new fan.

- I kind of want to cry

Volbeat has been a staple band for me for that hard rockabilly metal vibe. I’ve been to 4 concerts and had my mind blown by the energy and aggressive playing of them. Now, with the release of some of the songs on this new album, I’m taken aback. The lead singer has a voice you immediately recognize but the sound? It’s soft! So far the music has a generic rock radio vibe to it. I was going to pre-order the album but now I’m just going to wait to hear if the real Volbeat shows up.

- This isn’t metal....

Volbeat used to be good...like usual, new generation apparently never heard of real rock before. This is basically garbage pop!

- Rock but not metal

Do better

- Classic Volbeat with a twist!

Love almost all of the tracks! Definitely worth it!! 🤘🤘🤘

- Not bad but could be better

What I’m hearing is a band who wants radio hits. Remember your fan base case if you lose it you might not get them back . In all it’s not bad just feels like they lost there edge.not as heavy as I was hoping for ether

- LOVE IT

I found Volbeat a little late, around 2011 or 2012. I love the older stuff. I love the newer stuff. The first two singles from this album (Parasite doesn’t count) feel much more “Pop Rock” and more Rockabilly than the older stuff but I still love it. They maintain their unique sound and Poulsen’s vocals are still amazing. Caggiano f@$?!&#% destroys his guitar at least once per song. If your looking for Dominus Reborn I don’t think this is it. If you love good music with good rhythm and relevant lyrics then you should give this album a try!

- Still Volbeat

Not as good as their older stuff, but still awesome!

- 😳 Is this some sort of joke

😢

- Can’t wait for the full album

At first, I doubted this album. But I’m super it now. I like every song other than parasite. But other than that, everything is amazing. Can’t wait for the new album

- People who write iTunes reviews are babies.

So many people in the reviews are 1-staring it simply because it's different. Leviathan and LDUTS are both well-written songs, and people are whining because "oh it's not the Volbeat I know and love." Of course it's not, they've been around for 15 years, they're inevitably gonna change. I've never cared for Volbeat previously, but I'm definitely gonna listen to the full record when it drops.

- More commercial sound but still rocks

While I can’t disagree with other reviewers who said this is a different sound for Volbeat, I still hear what drew me to them. I got into the band more for their genre bending sound than the “Metal” so for me this ticks every box. There still is a big Rockabilly vibe going on here but many of the song, especially for the States, are commercial hits. I hope others appreciate the chance the band took with such a different sound style and give it the chance it deserves!

- Like it so far

Love the songs I have heard from the new album. Reminds me of The Outlaw Gentleman & Shady Ladies album which has a lot of great songs. They have some great collaborations on this album so looking forward to the final piece.

- So Far...

Change is great, the first three songs I’ve listened to, personally I’ve loved. Parasite...eh. But all the other ones man they’re great! I don’t mind that they’ve shifted into a pop-edge. Keep doin you Volbeat, you guys rock! 🤘🏻🖤

- Seriously?

I’m a huge Volbeat fan but Seriously, are there true Volbeat fans that are excited about the three tracks released so far? You can be a fan and be critical! And I get the whole “evolving musically” thing but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. You can evolve and still be heavy and not turn into a pop band. Very disappointed in these first few releases . Hopefully the rest of the album will change my mind.

- Volbeat Still got it !

I read some of the NEG, but VOLBEAT STILL HAS IT !

- Volbeat Rocks

Whenever I play Volbeatit takes me away from my problems in life and that what music is all about!

- Album will be best one yet

And be worth every cent

- It’s ok

Sounds a little flat and forced. I love this band but not impressed with what’s been put out. I hope there’s something a little more upbeat on it. Sounds like they need to take a long vacation.

- Love them!

These guys are some of the most humble in music right now. They put 110% in their live performance. Keep up the good work guys!

- 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Foooookin awesome. I see some hate for not being super metal but I love what these guys are doin. If the rest of the albums like these first four or five songs this might end up being my favorite album

- Nothing Catchy

Being a die hard fan, I had to buy this. Listening to a couple songs, Last Day Under the Sun sounds like it ripped off the main riff from Michael Jackson’s Black or White and Pelvis on Fire copied some of the elements from Sad Man’s Tongue. The rest of the album is kind of lackluster, but Gary Holt’s guest appearance on Cheapside Sloggers was the highlight of this album. C’mon guys, you can do better.

- BUY IT! Don’t listen to haters

A bit more poppy but sooo catchy and everything you’d expect from Volbeat! One of my favorite albums period. This will be on repeat all year long.

- Great but not heavy

Volbeat brings back the rockabilly on this album, which until recently they've been trending away from. However, they're still trending away from the heaviness with the exception of two songs: Cheapside Sloggers and The Everlasting. The rest of the songs are more stadium-rock than metal. If that doesn't discourage you, then you'll find some great music here, especially on the 2nd half of the album. I don't think Volbeat will ever top Outlaw Gentlemen, but Rewind, Replay, Rebound is still worthy of five stars.

- Great Album

Volbeat has obviously put hard earned time into this album. For those who say they don’t deserve a “metal” tag on this album, it’s clearly tagged as “Hard Rock”. I have bought every album these guys have released and never doubted them one second. Can’t wait to see what these guys have in stores in the future!

- Three tracks in and NOT feeling it...

Huge Volbeat fan, both recorded and live (four shows so far). Sadly, I have the say the first three tracks released have me wondering where the heavy edged genre mash up band has gone. Michael’s vocals seem over produced and the guitar work thus far feels very uninspired though Leviathan comes close. May have to strip the “metal” label from this effort in favor of “rock”.

- Great Album

People really need to wait until the entire album drops before reviewing based on a few songs. Several more rockabilly type songs in this album, Pelvis on Fire is excellent. I feel like this album has a good mix of some of the more commercial type stuff, the 50’s inspired, and hard rock.

- Good vibes

Got a good vibes sound and lyrics. Can’t hate it .

- Kings of Rock

Last day under the sun one of the best songs I’ve ever heard!! Awesome Volbeat!!! Keep it coming!

- Where’s the energy?

Enjoyed Pelvis on Fire but the rest is really bad. I had such high expectations coming into this album as well.

- I was listening to....

Volbeat before ANYONE in my circle had heard of them. All my friends went out and bought their stuff. What I have heard here so far is NOT metal. A very pop rock sound that I’m trying to wrap my head around. I will give them the respect they have earned from previous tunes and patiently await the rest of the music to drop. I’m not looking for sped up R.E.O. Speedwagon. Only time will tell.

- Sounds good as usual

Like it so far.

- Gross

This is less of a review about the album than it is about the band as a whole. Is there a single professional singer on the face of the planet with a worse voice than this guy. Makes me want to rip my eardrums out.

- Amazing album

Just started listening to the album and i’m already hooked, every song on there is amazing with great lyrics and melody. Amazing job

- They all sound too similar.

It’s all the same vibe and sound. Boring and unfortunately nothing really impressive on this album. Sorry but still love Volbeat!

- My Favorite Band

I absolutely love this band and this album hasn't disappointed at all. I have not heard a Volbeat song I didn't like. Sure some are better than others, but all are great. I don't consider Volbeat hard rock, just great rock n roll.
