Midland's sophmore effort breaks the curse. Easily the best album release this summer - in any genre - they continue the winning formula of retro country, amazing musicianship, and clever, punny, souful, poetic lyrics. Standouts include "Cheatin' Songs", "21st Centry Honkytonk American Band", "I Love You, Goodbye", and an up-tempo, polished version of their early Youtube hit, "14 Gears". Cheatin' Songs may be the finest song yet from this amazing band. "She's lyin' with him and she's lyin' to me". How can that amazing line never have been written before? Sheer lyrical genius here. Perhaps is just our bifurcated age that everything polarizes, including Midland. Count me in the camp that thought their debut was the best work of 2017. This followup effort is every bit the worthy successor. At this point in time, The Best of Midland is most definetly a 2-album set.

Country? You bet. Their first cd was a breath of fresh air. Real Country. Their second keeps the sound alive. As with the first cd great harmonies,interesting music and songs keep your mind stimulated. They probably don't play Midland on country radio. Too country. It isn't pop, bro "country".

Awesome Album!!!

I just listened to the album - 30 minutes after it was released. Holy cow! This album is freaking awesome! Over the last 15 years or so, I’d truly believed true country music was dead. Guess who just revived it - these guys! I can hear some King George, Dwight Yoakum, Earl Thomas Conley, Steve Wariner, and even some Eddie Raven in there. I hear all these influences, but Midland still makes every tone, every back beat, every song their very own. If you’re on the fence about buying this album - do it! This entire album is an absolute experience.

Midland is the best ever

So far another amazing Album by some true country artists. This is the good honky Tonkin Texas music country should strive to produce!

The three tracks currently available are fantastic. The sound of Midland is defined and original, not a copy cat like so many others. They are the future of Country and I like what the future holds.

All of the songs released on the 2nd album so far are stellar. Great lyrics, harmonies and instrumentals make this a swell throwback to how country should still be. Go Midland!!

I have just listened to there entire album and I got to say it’s my favorite album released this summer for all genres of music. Every song is just amazing. The only song I had problems listening to at first was “fast hearts and slow towns.” This one took some time for me to like, but after a few listens I have fallen in love with it. “21 first century American band” is an amazing song that sounds very different to what midland normally does, since they normally play with steel string guitars, and in this song they jam it out with electric guitars, but it’s still an amazing and fun song. “Cheatin’ songs” is an outstanding song that I fell in love with the second it came out. I’d write about all the other songs but I’d be here all day. If I were you I’d simply just buy the entire album, you won’t make a mistake. Every song is well crafted and well play, and the harmonies are simply amazing. BUY THE ENTIRE ALBUM!!!!!!!

It’s hard for so many to people to realize...people just don’t make music like this anymore. In a world of fakers and artists just trying to make a hit, Midland stays true to themselves. Not conforming to what the mainstream music world thinks they should do. Finally, a group that isn’t afraid to truly be themselves. I believe it will pay off!

This is one of the few albums ever where there are no words to describe how good it is. Everything here has been perfected. This is like Stapleton’s “Traveller” and Musgraves’ “Golden Hour”
