I was expecting pop or some sort of folk/atmospheric-pop reminiscent of “Safe and Sound” based on the album cover alone—this was much, much better. Sad Girl Alt is a great sound for Swift, and while some lyrics are decidedly ‘her,’ some lines wouldn’t have felt out of place in the mouths of artists like Lana del Rey, Florence Welch, Hozier, King Princess and Girl In Red. 10/10.

This album reminds me a lot of ‘Fearless’, many medleys, beautiful lyrics and touching themes in every song. This album is beautifully orchestrated, showing true depth, growth and maturity. It is simplistic, yet complex. An album for everyone, and a beautiful gift from Taylor to her fans.

folklore is fresh yet still feels like a Swift album. The album showcases her songwriting skills to an impressive extent, as well as her ability to create a cohesive theme and paint out a story in each of the songs. The album has upbeat songs, such as Betty, and ballads like exile (featuring Bon Iver), and everything in between. folklore is an incredibly mature album and a highlight in Taylor's career.

I was always on the fence with Taylor Swift. Her public life always made me roll my eyes, making it hard for me to enjoy her music. But if Lover made me come around, folklore has turned me into a complete convert. Always a talented songwriter, Taylor’s skill with words shines like a star in Southern sky. Not entirely pop but not Alternative in the extreme, folklore is a mellow, introspective and shockingly somber effort from a woman who truly deserves her place in the music world. Not only because she’s the best at what she does, but because she doesn’t need the promotional machine which backs so many of her contemporaries to deliver a new classic.

This album shows a new side of Taylor Swift Indie Pop isn’t her style often, when you ask people about taylor swift her new fans would say, “I love her album 1989, few songs from RED réputation and a bit from Lover” her old fans would say, “I love her old and new songs, Teardrops on my guitar will be forever iconic.” Since indie pop is a genre that includes a tad bit of timidity and pop, the listener sees a whole new side of the artist where her past is combined with a new, mature future. The tune in each song compliments the explicit, raw meaning which is an art that only few can perform, she uses harsh words in her songs which is something that we haven’t seen her doing in her previous songs. We are seeing the artists mature, growing in front of us, using unique almost forgotten words in this age as her song titles she piques the listener’s interest. Believe it or not, the lowercase does actually play a role, seeing a lowercase letter at the start of a word tells us that she is going to talk about something that is not a very gleeful story. However, the theme is carefully picked, the lyrics can be the harshest if heard without the timid melody is whaf makes it a beautiful, strong, harsh album of taylor swift.

It hits different if you are mature enough to see the different side of life and pain , the happy moment in pain when someone is there for you when nobody else has . I love Taylor she is different from other artist she writes real stuff .

I truly appreciate the choice to be mellifluous in this album❤️❤️❤️ I am falling for her all over again! If you go through her albums, it’s like reading a girl’s / lady’s / glam celebrity’s / naive lover’s / angry woman’s / mad woman’s diaries... So personal yet objective... sometimes, I drift away to other artists but she pulls my collar and as how dare you do that to me with her songs! I can’t help but love her if she makes such beautiful tunes and writes immense personal folks on top it her singing quality is dense! Oh man she sounds soooooo amazing! Especially, when the whole world is stuck with this pandemic, she continued working and made us all proud yet again... thank you Tay for being inspirational 🤗🤗🤗

I just finished listening to the entire album and I loved it. this album is so much more vulnerable than her other ones and you can tell she's pouring her emotions into every song. this album is different then her other ones because its all acoustic and it goes with the sad vibe. a lot of the songs were emotional and I did tear up on a lot of them, if you listen to the lyrics you can tell they are beautifully written and there are so many hidden messages hidden behind them and the hidden references. not all of her songs were sad, some songs were actually angry, like mad woman for example, her voice sounds soothing in the song but if you can hear the mad undertone because she's been wronged so many times in her career and her being provoked to do the things she did and when ever she try's to speak out about it the public immediately shuts her down. another different song in my opinion is my tears ricochet because even thought the tone of the song is kind of sad the lyrics are talking about how even though people keep trying to bring her down she now knows her self worth and she knows that she is not what those people say she is, the song kind of reminds me of daylight and the saying, step into the daylight and let it go. overall this album was incredible and I loved it so much, the colour schemes for each song in the lyric videos were so cleverly thought out and it matched each song perfectly, the album was kind of in a sense vintage and in most of her lyric videos the font was type writer which made it seem very old school which I think was the theme of the album. this album definitely wasn't like any of her other albums but it has this different kind of tone to the album where I think its what this fandom needed, it shows that taylor is still the girl who loves writing music and putting all her emotion in the lyrics and into her music. she's showing everyone that she hasn't changed a lot, her voice matured and she became an amazing artist but she's showing that deep down she's still that 13 year old girl who fell in love with music. taylors done so much throughout her career like switching from country to pop but I think this album was just, taylor. I think in my opinion that this album isn't what the public wanted or whoever else wanted to hear, but what taylor wanted.

Her ever evolving creative trajectory is impeccable & has reached a level that’s very hard to match. The record reinstates her faithful collaboration with music mogul Jack Antonoff & it just another reflection of what their explosive creativities coming together for the emergence of great music that will stand the test of time. Co-writing with Aaron Dessner from The National & the gutting duet with Bon Iver is one of the best things about the whole album. My highlights are ‘exile’, ‘august’, ‘this is me trying’,‘cardigan’, ‘illicit affairs’, ‘invisible string’ & obviously ‘hoax’ !!! (in no order) From the darkness in ‘mad woman’ to the sunshine in ‘betty’, the rain in ‘my tears richochet’, the autumn in ‘august’ & the winter in ‘hoax’ shows the very diverse landscape of the album. A theme that has strongly prevailed in her previous work as well. The timeline of the songs are not linear as they were in ‘reputation’ but this time there’s a puzzle hidden amongst the characters in different tracks! Heartiest congratulations Taylor for yet another fabulous record! Your creativity, relentless pursuit to self improvement & infectious passion are truly inspiring. This album is the light in the darkness of COVID. And also to those who are saying this album is a snooze-fest or she’s over ... sorry to break this to you, but this album got recognised heavily with widespread acclaim. Why? Because she has done something way more unique and different. Understandable if you don’t like it because you’re used to reputation or 1989 vibes. But that doesn’t give you the right to shame this album, like if you actually gave it a go then you’ll get why so many hardcore fans like myself loves this album. It has meaning, a message. And the instrumentals? Way cleaner. Give it a go, you just need to understand that this is a whole new Taylor Swift. She’s envolving.

For those dissing Folklore because it sounds “different” than her previous work, you cannot expect every Taylor Swift album to be the same! Taylor has shown over the extent of her many albums that she’s grown as a person - she’s changed, and so too has her music. In early albums, a heartbreak was the worst pain ever felt but later is referred to as just another learning curve. Or when the most notorious villan in the earliest albums is later forgiven with the white flag of gifts. Or even that relationships were once assigned the colour red, now have been morphed into a wave of golden bliss. This album very much describes the vibe/mood at which Taylor is in right now - calm, thankful and reminiscent. And it will definitely be played on repeat...

She just keeps doing it. I don’t know how, but she does. And all I can do is thank her. Thank you Taylor Swift.

Fantastic album! Taylor’s absolute best album yet

there is no denying taylor swift is a great storyteller. she has always been so descriptive, emotive and open. however, a lot of this album would fare better in a novella, or a book of poems. as SONGS, they aren’t the most enjoyable to listen to. the production isn’t encapsulating or engaging enough to warrant replay value, and the lyrics are quite a chore to listen to, let alone learn, particularly in the time period we are currently in. i appreciate the stories, but as music - this isnt the easiest album to listen to.

I love Taylor but this isnot a good album. The songs sound very samey and the production on all is very similar. Lyrics are ok . Such a shame

My 14 year old daughter introduced me to this album. TS not my kind of music before I am an old indie boy but happy that she liked such a strong positive talented female artist. A long car journey and letting her play her new Taylor Swift album and I am now addicted. Reading through the few 1 star reviews there is no doubt they are people who have never listened to the album and with v strange views and just hate fact that a young woman is making such a difference.

Never been a massive fan of Taylor (purchased only few songs before) but this album is everything 🎧😍

Let me open this up by saying I’m an admirer of Taylor - I’m not a super fan, I like quite a few of her songs....I don’t even own any of her albums, or have her music in my collection. Coldplay and Mumford & Sons are my thing.....but let me say this...... Folklore is the best album of the past 10 years...if not more. There is a lovely wispy, breezy, summery vibe to this. Even if you don’t like Taylor Swift, push your reservations to one side, take an hour and listen. Anyone can enjoy the calm of this album.

I agree with lots of people here! Very poor songs and melodies. All sounds the same. I’ve tried to listen to a few and switched it off. One of the worst albums she has ever made. Very disappointing

WOW!!!!!! This is a must album!!!! Its so so good!!!!!! I love every song! My favourite is August though! :) Highly recommend! Super chilled too!

To everyone saying it is boring, you have obviously just listened for a beat or a ‘bop’, if you sit with your headphones in and listen to the music you will find how captivating it is and the story you get drawn into with her lyrics. To everyone saying it sounds the same, you are probably used to pop melodies and now that you’re hearing an album mostly made of piano or guitar you just take that as it sounding the same when really the melody is created through those instruments and her voice makes these songs more interesting than ever. And although the production can be minimal, it adds to her voice, making you focus on the story and the way she sings it, fully bringing you into the emotions. This album is a timeless masterpiece with capturing lyricism, dreamy and interesting production, and a whole cohesiveness which brings you into a world of storytelling and characters. Swift has created characters throughout this album or used people from real life (such as her previous Rhode Island home owner) to create compelling stories and used multiple perspectives shown through different songs to help you piece together what each character is feeling. I cannot praise this album enough. 10/10

I have every album, love them all...but this is just very slow, chilled, just nothing special or catchy. If you want background music then it’s fine.

Goose pimples loving folksy soul soothing enchanting Exhile is my fave song.

Didn't love it instantly but once you sit and really listen to the lyrics it gets better with each listen, just brilliant.

Every so often an album comes along with a series of strong tracks and this is true of folklore. This is a quality record with many stand out songs and an album that is on repeat and that hasn’t happened for a long time. Taylor deserves the accolades because this work is superb. Dave The Garden (And I’m a Jam fan for gods sake!).

This album is EVERYTHING. It really feels like October in July while listening to this masterpiece of an album we call Folklore. Taylor Swift did it again... but when hasn't she? This is amazing.

This album was £8.99 on 30/07 - no change in content and it has gone up in price to £10.99 the next day 31/07 !! Apple says they don’t set the pricing so Taylor Swift or her management are making a money grab as the album has become popular ... Nice way to treat your fans and parents of your fans very very underhanded - I am happy to pay an artist for their work but to do this with no change in content is just pure exploitation..!!

i was used to amazing melodies by Taylor Swift in the past.. this is a bit boring and forgettable not sure i would want to listen to tthis again
