Say No Go by De La Soul Song Info
Drawing on Hall & Oates samples, this tune was De La's second Top 10 UK hit single (if memory serves me) - it followed the seminal track "Me, Myself & I", which was where I came to meet the music of the Native Tongues tribe. Hailing from south coastal England myself, I had nothing in common as a teenager with De La, who come from LI, New York. Long Island sounds like my kind of place, as illustrated in De La's album "Stakes Is High". I guess Say No Go was a political music video and Postdnoous, Masio & Trugoy ... that's what I recall anyway, from watching MTV and seeing them rant about the Regan administration, Maggie Thatcher and all that late 80's cold war ending shit I seemed to notice on the BBC news, I was thirteen years old in 1989, so I'm a child of the 90's really! Biased to the max as I am, De La Soul are, after all is said and done, in my humble opinion the best and most original Hip Hop act around. Native Tongues Posse, consisting of De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, Monie Love, DJ Red Alert, Africa Bambaataa et al. Love it . This is simple, classic, 'old skool' rap tunes. PLUR PLUR PLUR.
