MILK OF THE SIREN, originally titled SIRENS, is the 16th and final song on the Deluxe Edition of Melanie's third studio album, PORTALS. The song originally leaked in 2021, alongside many other concept demos and other finished songs. The song stood out to many fans, and became a fan-favorite shortly. The song was rumored to be reworked and named NYMPHOLOGY, the 11th track on PORTALS, following the tracklist reveal. The latter song was later found out to be a completely new song. Melanie went on to tease the release of MILK OF THE SIREN on April 4th, after adding a lyric of the song's chorus to their Instagram bio. The TEEN BEATS playlist on Spotify also teased the song through the usage of siren, mermaid, and milk emotes, and later captioned the playlist 'meet mel at midnight.' The song would release alongside two other Deluxe tracks on April 5th, 2023.
