This was a great album by Mariah, as was her first. Pretty standard adult contemparary fare, but her voice was amazing and pure, and she sang with what seemed like real emotion (no pun intended). Now she's all about the bling*bling and Cristal b.s. It's too bad she doesn't make music like this anymore.....

Emotions is the best album and "Can't Let Go" is the best song on this album. Its just so passionate and heart-braking and the tune is so sad, i just can't let go of this song. This song just makes me want to Cry and explode inside. Please Click Yes, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE

My favorite CD of ALL time! nobody can sing like her...

This album is often overlooked when discussing Mariah's discography. Emotions, released just months after the I Don't Wanna Cry (the 4th single from her self-titled debut) this collection of songs picks up where the first cd ends. Although it contains some of the same powerhouse vocals and big ballads, the collection is deepened by more uptempo numbers with an R&B flare that was missing from her debut. Cliviles and Cole (the hot producers of the early 90's) are on board for 4 of the cuts, including the first single Emotions, which was Mariah's 5th consecutive #1. They also bring some much needed soul to the 3rd single, Make it Happen on which pre-Mimi Mariah kills. For fans of her debut's big ballads, check out Til The End of Time and The Wind, which jazz up the procedings a bit. Overall a great collection and a sign that Mariah's initial success was no fluke.

This was Mariah's (long before "Mimi") sophomore album after her huge breakout self-titled first album "Mariah Carey." Three singles were released from this album, the title track "Emotions", "Can't Let Go", and "Make It Happen." However, you can still hear most of the other songs being played (unofficially) on easy listening stations. (Personal note: I feel "So Blessed" should have also been released as a single -- listen to it, it's great!) There's one song missing from this iTunes album, "If It's Over", which she co-wrote with Carole King and should've come right after "Make It Happen." "Emotions" was the second of three studio albums (not including the "MTV Unplugged" or "Merry Christmas" albums) where she focused (or was forced to focus by the powers that be at the time, i.e, Mr. T.M.) on a Pop sound, before moving into R&B.

I miss the days when Mariah would use her impressive and powerful voice like this rather than her modern hip-pop albums that show no real talent

I have to admit, after this album I kind of lost interest in Mariah. I think she has an amazing voice, but she didn't seem as emotionally invested in her work once she started transitioning to a more R&B sound (although I do think she regained some of her fire with Emancipation of Mimi). This is the only album of hers that I can listen to straight through. Every song is good - especially the lesser known ones: Till the End of Time, And You Don't Remember, If It's Over, etc. Definitely worth buying.

Mariah Carey is a truly classic singer. One of her songs come on the radio and people just light up! Her voice is incredible- no one else's is like it. If you look through all of her albums, every one of her songs are relatively popular!! I mean, she has A LOT of albums and none of them have been forgotten! This album is no different; the songs all have powerful lyrics and really catchy tunes that always make you want to sing along. Personally, I love Emotions!!! Its soooo good! <33
