Critics are always wrong. From Journey's "Escape" to the Beatles to Europe's "The Final Countdown," critics always "predict" the failure and/or hate the guts of certain groups/albums. Why? Because bands like these are too "popular" for the elite critics. It seems that critics always tend to dislike popular music. The iTunes reviewer for this album calls The Final Countdown "glorious garbage," saying it is "predictable" and "convention[al]." Huh... Well I guess me and millions of other listeners disagree (The Final Countdown sold thrice platinum).

Europe is a good band. Final countdown is good, and the other songs are too. But it is not metal. Especially considering there are actual metal bands in the rock section.

How did Europe steal the beat from Chamillionaire when this album came out 21 years before industrial groupie o and btw this isnt metal :P

Love the artist and the music but because the labels are CRAP I ended up wasting money on a live version of final count down needs some sort of obvious tag like explicit songs have so you know not to buy ruined tracks

Ok, before you start talking about who ripped off who, check the release dates of the albums. Europe released this in 1987, and as far as the genre goes, I don't think iTunes has a glam rock category, and once again, this is from 1987, it was metal back then!

1986 is got my first MC for my Walkman it was THE FINAL COUNTDOWN. I hoped the device does not eat up my MC. Still good after all time and now save as MP4!

They're pills that create a sort of temporary forgettingness, so if somebody finds out how you do a trick you just give 'em one of these and they forget the whole thing. It's a mainstay of the magician's toolkit, like how clowns always have a rag soaked in ether.

Everyone realize that this is an 80's band an it was and still is considered metal. Even Guns n' Roses were considered a metal band but iTunes list their genre as rock.

This is a great album.

the final countdown. Wow if you are reading this, you know the song. If I'm ever charging into war, or entering an arena for a fight, this is the song I want playing. But it cause it's corny, buy it cause it's over the top, buy it cause the guitar solo is ahead of it's time. Just have fun with it, it's a great song.

I personally think that Europe is wayyyy over rated. Along with the song the final countdown. Also, I really doubt that this can be classified as heavy metal. Think what you want, that's just my opinion.

I listen to all kinds of music, from classical to hardcore scream-o. But it bothers me that this is in the metal charts. Anyways lol, this is a pretty good song and band. Lol

You guys are all wrong. Back then this was considered "hard rock" or "glamor rock", along with groups like Bon Jovi, Stryper, white Lion, Scorpions, Dokens, Poison, Guns and Roses and Def Leppard....music I grew up with and happened to love in junior high and high school back in the 80's. Heavy metal is more like Megadeth, Pantera, Deep Purple, motorhead,AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Slayer...which, in my personal oppinion is garbage music.
