- Decent.

Not of these songs, with the exception of "A Tout Le Monde" and "Washington Is Next!" really did it for me. The track "United Abomination" is ridiculous. I've always considered Dave Mustaine to be one of the most intelligent people that I've known, but with his great wisdom, somehow he was unable to bring the cliche to music known as politics. Lines such as "how can there be logic in biological war" just make me cringe. C'mon, Dave. It's been done. To death. I still to this day do not understand why I like A Tout Le Monde. It's a duet with the lead singer of Lacuna Coil (a band I hate), Cristina Scabbia (her voice is... angelic). It's not even Thrashy, or even Metally. But regardless, I really like it. Anyway, for those of you who haven't bought this yet, try listening to the song with an open mind. I noticed that it really grew on me. At first I thought it was GROSS, but I found myself listening to it on a frequent basis. Same story with the band Rush.

- Megadeth stays true and strong...

Mustaine and Megadeth do it again. From Killing is My Business.....to this latest installment, I've yet to be disappointed. I've been a fan since 1987, and though my favorite albums include, Peace Sells, Cryptic Writings, Countdown to Extinction, Rust in Peace - I give those a slight edge over United Abominations. It's not a classic (at least yet), but it's definitely hard, and definitely Megadeth. The lyrics are, as always, Mustaine-genius. Buy it!

- This is where the truth lies!!!

Dave Mustaine has done it again, the only disappoint me that i have is his switch from jackson guitars to Dean, although Dimebag had a Dean it just doesnt seem right.

- Awesome..

This album is great. I rank it right up there with Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction and Peace Sell... But Who's Buying? . It has tight riffs and very good and impressive solos. Just buy the whole album. If you only want songs, Washington is Next!, Never Walk Alone ... A Call to Arms, and Burnt Ice are my faves from this album.

- Nice further comeback

A decent album, not as good as system has failed, song wise and production wise, but definately keeps megadeth as the lead metal innovator out there. Can't wait for next album.

- they do it again!

this is great! there best so far countdown to extinction is pretty good too

- A great thrash album, though not their best.

This is just great stuff to listen to all day long. Sleepwalker, Washington Is Next!, and Never Walk Alone all start off the album greatly, while United Abomination, Gears of War, and Blessed Be the Dead just make you want to headbang. Play for Blood is a great return to form, while A Tout Le Monde is a little break. The last 3 songs aren't as great as the rest of the album, but it's still a good listen. It's not Megadeth's best, but it does show that they can get back to business.

- you gotta respect Megadeth..

Megadeth has got to be around the best thrash I've heard yet so you gotta respect them for being able to play such badass music and being around for 20+ years so thats something that i respect about them and i really hope theyll make some more albums in the near future because when I heard gears of war I knew they still had it.

- This is definitly good!

Megadeth listener i wasn't now i am hooked. Sleepwalking, Washington and You're Dead is good. there all good. Wonderfull

- THANK GOD

its about time Megadeth came back, i was starting to worry, i sitll dont think this cd is as good as previous albums such as, well pretty much from killing is my business... all the way till cryptic writings... count down to extiction and youthanasia are in my opinion their greatest albums. and iTunes your slacking, why do you not have killing is my business for sale come on now? i know it is a rare album but im sure iTunes has some connections.

- good as always

im gald to see one thrash metal band didn't sell out (metallica), most of the tracks are great, the A tout le monde version on this one isn't as good but whatever.

- Great addition to any Megadeth collection!!!

You have to agree this is a top 3 release for the band. Favoriites include United Abomination, Amerikastan, and Play for Blood. Check it out, worth the money.

- I was getting worried for a little while there.....

If you're a metal fan you MUST own this album. Addictive rhythems, lightning guitar, driving intensifying beats... brings metal back into Megadeth. Picks up where Youthanasia left off... not "Peace Sells.." or "Rust.." but as good with it's own style. Excellent work... ROCK LIVES!

- THANX AGAIN MEGADETH!!!!!

This is a "must bob you head wildly" album. It's a Must Buy. Can't Wait for there Tour.

- Almost there

Worst-Best Risk Cryptic Writings Youthanasia Countdown To Extinction Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good The World Needs A Hero Peace Sells...But Who's Buying The System Has Failed So Far, So Good...So What! UNITED ABOMINATIONS Rust In Piece This album is almost at the top of their list. This shows that after their little media loving scene that they're finally almost back to what they once were. Maybe their 12th album that I've heard Megadeth talking about will finally be the one to surpass Rust In Piece. United Abominations almost did it, but it was missing the slight speed that separated the albums. All Mustain needs is a little more UMPH and they'll surpass a landmark in Thrash History

- Amazing Album

One of their best! Definitely going back to the heavy roots and showing great detail in every song.

- Megadeth in the Age of Terror

"Over the last several years, we've seen a bitter escalation of warfare on a barbaric scale. The proliferation of weapons of mass destructuion has made us paranoid and vulnerable. Fear has overshadowed our world, fear of terrorism, fear of one another. World powers are on the edge and forming dangerous alliances against us. As the UN wastes time debating, it seems that all-out war may be inevitable. Bureaucrats want results but never want to get their hands dirty. They adhere to their resolutions, expecting the enemy to do the same. Unfortunately, this type of diplomacy is a luxury we can't afford. Through lies and corruption, world delegates have only served to strengthen our enemies. Because of this failure, we now need to act aggresively to counter these threats. We cannot fall victim to our own inaction. We are living in the Age of Terror -- and it's time for deeds, not words. To stop the enemy, you have to be forceful, uncompromising and rely on instinct. You have to be resilient, dependable and unstoppable. Extreme times call on extreme actions. This is a war for the end game. It's about survival. You have to do whatever it takes... Like Megadeth." -Jack Bauer

- Just Great

This is a very fine album, there's every great megadeth sound right here and the solos of both Dave Mustaine and Glen Drover are great. I rly admire how with the countless lineup changes, Mustaine is still able to keep the same sound. That takes a lot o commitment and work. The remake of A Toute Le Monde is great too with Christina Scabbia sounds ten time better than that from Youthanasia. Keep up the great work Megadeth!!!!!

- Not their best but growing on me

OK...been a Megadeth fan since the beginning, This is not their best work but it is growing on me. At first listen I was very impressed since the first 4 or 5 songs are pretty strong. After that is where most will make their final overall decision on this album. The guitar riffs and shreds in here are top notch. Dave Mustaine writes what is on his mind...no punches pulled. This album is mostly politically motivated and tells you Dave's stance on a lot of things. I applaud him for trying new things and having the guts to speak out with his music. Although some would consider him a misfit, he has a louder voice than the rest of us like it or not. Personally I prefer Countdown or Peace Sells or Rust over this, but I will give it a three, and I'm starting to appreciate it a bit more. Oh and I like the first version of "A Tout Le Monde" better. My biggest beef is this. What is with the mixing? This thing sounded like it had static in it or something in places, almost like the kind you used to hear on vinyl? Is this in the guitar distortion somehow? Is this part of the mixing? Intentional? This was not my amp or speakers distorting, it was in the music. A friend of mine has the cd version, same thing, Please Dave, figure this one out and/or don't do it again. It's 2008, and I like my music (even metal) to have a clean sound.

- amazing

megadeth is probably the best thrash band out there united abominations is there best album with never walk alone being there best song!

- Greatness at it's greatest

this is the album that got me in on megadeth. saw it at the store picked it up, never listening to megadeth before. loved pretty much every song on it. came home and found out they had stuff better than this. this is a great album but the best is yet to come. now they have chris broderick and he has brought more to the table. should be exciting to see what they make of it

- best since rust in peace

this cd has got to be the next best megadeth cd (next to rust in peace) its got all the screaming guitars you need great harmonies and daves singing still rules.

- Metal in Biblical propotions!

You will experience the best executed metal out there when you listen Dave and company. I listen to this CD dailey and thats rare with so much music out there. Plus a huge reason I do is cause of the depth of the words Dave sings. They will challenge you and make you really consider huge world impactfull concetps. Why are we here, what can we do and who really gives crap if you do. BUY THIS! Or just be an idiot lemming!

- Bad

I am not a Mega Deth hater but there old school music is way better and is the bomb especially Simphony of destruction

- A Triumphant Return

Megadeth, the band with amazing albums (Rust In Peace, Peace Sells), mediocre ones (Youthanasia, Hidden Treasures), and just plain downright crappy ones (Risk). This album would go under amazing. An album that balances what people want to hear, and what the artists want to do, is what we need now. This album has arrived in the form of United Abominations. First of, any one who says this has no good guitar playing is out of their mind. Take the riffs from "Never Walk Alone", "Play For Blood", and "Sleepwalker", and the solos from "Burnt Ice", and "Washington Is Next". Proof that the guitar team of Dave Mustaine and Glen Drover are far superior to their contemporaries in guitar ablities. It's catchy too. If you like Megadeth, this is a must buy. If you don't you should buy some of their earlier albums first, then buy this!

- best new album

everything after Rust in Peace blew and everything before was baller (even sfsgsw) this is a return to the old days technically but the songs are still not there but they are much better

- United to Thrash

Dave's brought the noise in an amazing way this time around. He's managed to mesh his celebrated sound and playing style with a thought provoking political/social message. Complex, hard-edged and loud as any group thrashing today! A new metal classic!

- another knotch down

way over done. can u possibly get more solos n2 a song? it takes the momentum of the song away n makes it boring. daves writin & guitar prowess is great as usual. but the albume as a whole has no feel. reminds me of a better produced st. anger. all over the place. theyll have a great riff n a min later it goes n2 sumthin else entirely. much like slayers worthless last album. each "megadeth" album has degraded in overall muscle & focus over the last few yrs. n using the laguna coil chik? cmon. jus put coke & firestone tires on ur album cover next time. funny the biggest judge of metallica has done things that he gave others sh** 4. ill still buy the albums cuz hes a great player n songwriter. but ive lost intrest in payin $ 2 c the show.

- I'm Just Glad He's Back!

Can't wait for the tour!

- Excellent.

To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of The System Has Failed. I was expecting this album to be another TSHF, and I'm glad it wasn't. This album is perhaps the fastest, heaviest and thrashiest record Megadeth has released since Countdown to Extinction, and is the best musically since Youthanasia. Here's my review: Sleepwalker: Awesome. Really gets you pumped to hear the rest of the record. Lyrics are just awesome. Fast and Heavy, what 'Deth do best. 5/5 WIN: Very good song, very technical guitar work. The political lyrics and brutal rhythms remind me of 'Deth days gone by. 4/5 NWA: The video for this song is ridiculously cheesy, but the song is awesome. Religious lyrics aren't new for Megadeth, but actually writing from the religious side is new. Riffs are awesome, especially fun to play. 4.5/5 UA: AWESOME. This is perhaps my favorite song off of the album. The newscaster clips in the background remind me of Blackmail the Universe and The Scorpion, but I prefer this song for it's all out thrashy goodness. 5/5 Gears of War: Good. The sound quality on this song is amazing when listening to it in 5.1 surround sound. Try it! Lyrics for this song could be polished, but the rest is just straight up Megadeth. 3.5/5 Blessed: Awesome song. About the apocalypse and "The Four Horsemen". Feels kind of short, but it's actually one of the only songs on the album past the 4 minute mark. 4/5 Play for Blood: A great song. Very heavy and complex (excluding the opening riff, haha.), especially the solo trade-offs about halfway through. Nice work, Dave and Glen. 4.5/5 Set me Free: I don't like it. The song should have been left on Youth, the way it was. Cristina's vocals are a nice touch, but not enough to save this song. 2/5 Amerikhastan: Great song, it's also known as Holy Wars pt. 2. Extremely political, and feels very short compared to other songs on the album. 4/5 You're Dead: My 2nd least favorite song. Lyrics are pretty good, except for the chorus. Riffing is good, and solo is awesome. 3/5 Burnt Ice: Excellent closer. It's about meth addiction, which should be pretty obvious from the title and lyrics. Wonderful riffing, great sense of melody. The ending is dragged on a bit long, but it's still an awesome ending. 5/5

- It's Official... Worse than Killing Is My Business!!!

Wow! I never thought I would say this, but this album is the worst Megadeth album EVER!!! Not only has this egotistical fool gone on and on about his political opinions for way too long. Now he isn't even making any sense! There are these News clips peppered through-out this whole album that really don't have much signifigance to any real issues going on in the world. Put it this way, if Al Franken and Rush Limbaugh can chop clips up and put them in front of tilted statments and Dave Mustaine can't... Then why is he even doing it? I have always said that every Megadeth song has at least one stupid lyric in it. I never thought that a whole Megadeth album would have 100% no good lyrics. Why doesn't he just rip off Alice Cooper lyrics like he used to and get the old band back together? Oh yeah... That's because nobody likes him at all!!!! Just call it quits Dave. You stink!!! Your pathetic!!! And your political views make Denis Kucinich look like George Washington!!!!

- Never gonna die

While Metallica has become another hard rock band that TRIES to do heavy metal, Megadeth is as solid as a rock. As far as the album goes...PROS:The guitars, oh the guitars, as fast and screaming as ever, and Dave can still sing/growl/sound like a madman, etc (unlike Ozzy cough cough) and the fast songs are, uh, fast CONS: As much as I like the new drum sound, I wish Dave would bring back Nick Menza or someone close. Don't get me wrong I like Shawns sound, but he plays triplets a little too much. Now as a drummer I notice this, but you shouldn't let that get in the way of enjoying this piece of political fire

- just buy it you will not reget it

simply amazing. Dave is awesome at what he does. I bought this album for $15. at the store and its worth every penny and more

- Good rhythms, preachy lyrics.

This album is perfect except for the fact that it seems to be very preachy and a little too political which is the trend Megadeth has been headed towards for a while now. The rendition of A tout Le Monde is masterful and in itself worth the purchase of the album. The music itself is beautifully reminiscent of Youthanasia and Countdown. Oh how i miss those days.

- cant stop listening!

this album is amazing! i havent stop listening to it since the first day it came out when i got it! u need to buy this

- It's about time!

I have always felt that Rust in Peace was the pinnacle of Heavy Metal. That whole album from start to finish was well thoiught out, excellently crafted, and performed. It started witha bang and reached a climax and came to a stunning conclusion. After that it was a steady decline for the band. I understand that Dave is a musician and therfore must be able to experiment with different styles and textures, and as a musician not everything you do works, or works well. However, with United Abominations Dave and Co. have semmed to be back on track, with what they do best, Thrash Metal, and that in and of itself is not a bad thing. Metal musicians (at least older more mature ones, not todays drolling wannabees) have attempted to bring Metal to the point of excellence like classical music. Each song has a purpose and a musical cohearence. Cheeers Dave you are back on the throne once again, nice to see you there.

- Crushing riffs with modern flair

Megadeth have redeemed themselves! This is a record with both great song writing and musicianship. They've also successfully married old school power metal with a modern sound. The riffs are crushing! The fire has been reignited!

- One of Their Finest

I was startled when I first heard the album. I bought it just because I didn't have it. I was shocked to find that this was one of their greatest albums. All songs are good.

- Are we all listening to the same album?

All of the low-star reveiws seem to complaining that Dave is anti-war and anti-Bush. if you really listen to the lyrics, he believes that the war is neccessary, but doesn't advocate the use of biological weapons or nukes. He actually voted for Bush both times! I support Bush and I enjoyed this album. As far as musically, it rocks as hard as any Megadeth album.

- This album is megadeth's second best behind RIP

I bought this album about a week after it came out and finally Megadeth has released another classic album with a Renewed Thrash powerhouse. Best songs Sleepwalker, Washington Is Next!, Never Walk Alone...A Call to Arms, and You're Dead. This album is a must have for any Thrash, and Megadeth fan. Long Live Megadeth.

- Time to call it quits

Ever since losing Menza and Friedman, Megadeth has lost that 'je ne sais quoi'. Not that I am lamenting the glory days of Rust in Peace and Peace Sells, but Mustaine has lost his direction. Also I normally do not mind a wee bit of propaganda in music on various subjects but this is blatantly a political (or anti-political) album. It was a waste of $ to get this album. I should have 'borrowed' it instead. Mustaine, call it quits while embers of the glory days of still have some glow left.

- YEAH

KICK YOUR BUTT ALBUM

- one obvious blemish on an otherwise awesome album

this album is, as others have said, one of their best, but i must say. The remake of 'a tout le monde' is absolutely awful. id much rather listen to the original, and it sounds as though it was recorded in one take.... other than that, classic megadeth all the way. buy it, and enjoy

- Yeah!!

making it again.... I like them and they're better than metallica

- Awesome.

Buy this album now, it is very impressive, and has great songs, especially Sleepwalker and Gears of War.

- I love Megadeth but...

The System Has Failed is going to be hard to beat. An utter masterpiece. Rock on. Praise Him.

- Awesome

United Abominations is not only Megadeth's best album since Countdown to Extinction, but it's one of the very best metal albums to come down the pike in ages. Dave Mustaine has never sounded better and track after track makes you want to turn the volume up past 11. Best new album I've bought in a long long time.

- Mustaine Finally earned my respect.

I have never liked mustaines voice or songs until this album.

- PURE THRASH

this is an amazing cd - I think it's their best since Rust In Peace - THRASH LIVES!

- Great!

This is the greatest Megadeth album to date.
