Switchfoot - Dare You to Move

Dare You to Move by Switchfoot Song Info

Lead singer Jon Foreman said in CCM Magazine presents 100 Greatest Songs In Christian Music that Dare You To Move, "is an attempt to honestly face the gap between who I am and who I want to be; between the way the world spins and the way it should be. I've heard that we only use a small part of our brain. Maybe our soul is the same way. And maybe we're half asleep most our lives, simply reacting to the stimulus our brain receives. Action, true action, is rare indeed." (Source Dare You To Move Songfacts)

- This song is me

I'm a big fan of Switchfoot anyway, but this song just really made me stop and listen (and cry because this song is ME). The lyrics to this song describe a quest for happiness, with a few bumps in the road, that turns into a realization that happiness is not a destination; it's a journey. It's a terrific reminder that this life is only temporary and that we need to live it abundantly.

- So you're favorite song didn't make the album...

When any band releases a greatest hits album there will always be fans who are upset that thier favorite song didn't make the cut. But this album isn't as much for the fans as it is for newcomers, if you're a fan then you should already own all these songs... except for "This is Home". This is a great album for newcomers, if you are new to Switchfoot this is a great place to start!

- Finally, Itunes!

I wanted to buy this is home on the Prince Caspian soundtrack, but it was album only!!! itunes has to stop doing that! thanx to switchfoot for making a best yet with this is home on it. i now have all switchfoot songs! i love switchfoot. i think that their best album is Oh! Gravity. Check it out.

- Wow, speechless

This is definately THE BEST YET. The songs are sensational.

- Good but not the greatest

This is a good cd all the way....until it passes song number 8. Switchfoot is a really good band, but I'm not the biggest fan out there. Obviously looking at the title they were going to put their best songs on the cd. So I didn't see how someone can get confuse with that. Great band, but an okay cd. I just say spend the 99 cents to just get your favorite songs.

- :DDD YESSS

now i don't have to look around all there other cds to see which songs i like there all on this cd totally worth it

- Nice collection

I like all of these songs. It could use a few more of the older ones, but overall it is a perfect mix. Keep up the good work Switchfoot.

- The Best Yet

Here is a ratings scale for all the songs with a comment: Dare you to Move: 9/10 a classic that is great for the ears. Meant to Live: 10/10 very good clashing guitars and speaks to those dreamers. Stars: 9.5/10 fast and uplifting must buy. Oh! Gravity: 10/10 one of my personal favorites and a necessity for any switchfoot fan just listen to the 30 seconds. This is Home: 10/10 Very inspirational and speaks to the heart, also you don't have to buy a whole movie album. Learning to Breathe: 7.5/10 slower but still good vocals. Awakening: 7/10 not the best but still very good, wouldn't listen to it 100 times but still worth it. This is your Life: 8.5/10 classic switchfoot that is giving a message even though it still is very great. On Fire: 6/10 very slow compliments other slow songs but not the greatest Switchfoot. Only Hope: 7/10 one of the better slower songs. Dirty Second Hands: 8.5/10 a stranger but very good guitar switchfoot song depends on the person. Love is the Moment: 8/10 gotta love this song no matter who you are even though it probably isn't a favorite. Company Car: 6.5/10 faster but not my favorite fun song but still a little random for me. Lonely Nation: 9/10 faster with great guitar and drums, eye catching bass, great vocals this is Switchfoot's faster side. The Shadow Proves the Sunshine: 8.9/10 not quite a 9 but still mainly a vocalists song, This is good if you like the singer. Concrete Girl: 9/10 great song, gets to fast then slows down, quality Switchfoot with a message. Twenty-Four: 7.5/10 slow and still good just not the best Switchfoot out there. The Beautiful Letdown: 9.5/10 definetly not a let down this is a great way to end an Album with such a great message. Please vote yes if this helped you because it took me a long time to write. I know some people don't like Greatest Hits albums but this one is a great buy for any Switchfoot lovers or newcomers to the Band. ~HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

- Dare You to Move

Excellent! Reminds me to stay on track and live each day,

- Perfect;

Its unbelievable how great Switchfoot is growing to be. It seems with each new album; I love them more and more. When I had almost given up on good, new, music, I came upon them on an HBO commercial. They're one band everyone can be sure they'll NEVER get tired of. This album is amazing, in everyway possible. It reflects the amazing times they've had, and gets you excited for the ones to come. Its just yet another reason they're a large part of my life, and my iternal favorite band of all time. Thanks for listening; Hannah:)

- Finally

Thank you Switchfoot, I have been waiting forever to get This Is Home, but it wasn't available without the album. Great job!

- cool

this i is an awsome cd i love the song lonly nation & this is home. both great it is worth the price

- Solid Hits from an incredible band

A great place to start if you have little or no switchfoot music( im not sure why). Fans who like classic foot may be dissapointed of the lack of songs from chin, new way and ltb, but dont rate the album lower, they are just a little more mainstream, alltogether, a fantastic cd

- Great Album!

awesome cd! i have to say, im sad that i waited so long to get it. i wish id downloaded it earlier. its got their best songs, and some id never heard before. if you like switchfoot, or think you like them, get this album!

- Best album yet

i like 90% of the songs but i hate the picture for the album

- this is awesome

my parents gave me this cd for christmas and it rocks!!!!now im a huge switchfoot fan. i only wish that they would come to southern wisconsin(where im at) or northern illinois cuz no one cool ever comes to wisconsin. but anyways...buy this album its awesome!!!!

- Wow! Amazing

This is the best music I have heard in a long time. I love the song "Learning To Breathe" and "Stars" I can't wait for more. Switchfoot you are amazing artists and I cannot wait for your next album! If your thinking about buying this album, stop ! Buy it right this second.

- AWESOME ALBUM!!!!!!

This is one of best albums out there it has all of your favorite switchfoot songs. Great Job Switchfoot!!! P.S. I am a friend of the 'Foot'

- Ready for more

I was so pumped for this release and I was so happy when I got it... Only one problem it was not the deluxe version I had expected. Still love SWITCHFOOT and you should still get this album later switchfoot and later fellow iTuners. PEACE

- decent stuff

all of this is just average, but their song GONE i love

- Love It*****

This is the most unbelievable album from the most unbelievable band. These guys really know how to write thought provoking lyrics. Love it!

- Not really worth buying it off of iTunes

I'm not a huge fan of switchfoot, but I did like this album. My tip for if you are going to buy this though is to buy the actual cd with the bonus music videos dvd because that's what made owning it worth while (in my opinion).

- YES!!!!

I couldn't have said it better myself! The Best Yet is....well.....the best yet!!! Except points of for no Chem6A. Though really, I think that you would have to just get all their albums to have a complete "best of" collection. Thanks guys for your awesome music :)

- Switchfoot is Amazing

Seriously all there music is so good and has great meaning. My ultimate favorite is ***** Stars ****** If you haven't listened to it you have to! Meant to live is pretty good too.

- Kind of funny

This is definitely an album worth buying if you don't have a lot of Switchfoot on your I-pod. I was reading through the reviews though and I found a lot of people complaining that Switchfoot didn't put very many of their favorites on the album. Maybe that's because their music is just that good! I don't think they have enough room to fit all of their hits on just one album. Click 'Yes' if you agree!

- NICE!!!

this is awesome although twenty-four gets hardly enough publicity its clearly the best switchfoot song out there sure dare you to move is great but there is so much more switchfoot underneath it

- 2003??

it was 2008, thank you

- Hard To Have Been Done Better!

First of all I'd like to apologize to iTunes for the accusatory remarks I made towards them during the Narnia phase of This is Home. It wasn't their fault. It was the same on every music site and it was likely Walt's company (copyright issues) who did that... In response to the knowledge that Walt's company did the selfish and unintelligent deed of This is Home excluding (I don't know how they didn't expect people to get it off of the illegal sites) I'd like to say that talent will find a way to reap the benefits (assuming there is some. Suffice to say alot of Walt's company's talent isn't really talented.) Switchfoot outsmarted them at their own game by keeping the rights to the more enhanced version of the song. I suppose it has something to do with the motives from their split from Columbia. So in response to all of that, This is Home is fully realized as a song, instead of just part of a scattered album. Great job Swicthfoot, you answered my call!!! On to the whole album, but I can only find a few ways to criticize it. Chem 6a definetly shuld have been included, seeing as in the voting thing in the Spring '07 tour it was pretty common. What should have been replaced for that was Only Hope. I'm not sure how many Switchfoot fans love this song as opposed to how many A Walk to Remeber fans love this song. Concrete Girl was an odd choice, but it likely means something to the band that they have yet to reveal, and was probably set to be on The Best Yet for a while now. Love is the Movement is a really good song, but it could've been just added because of the timing with it being so commonly played in the recent tours. Replacing either of those should be We Are One Tonight. It is STUNNING that it was not included here. Besides that, I think it's perfect. Every song that I think has been popularized, and those others that reveal Switchfoot's identity as a band are all on here, making this a complete montage spanning their entire career (even before Columbia) as a band. On one final note, if Switchfoot is reading these, bring back some of these songs! I miss songs like The Beautiful Letdown and Company Car from the band's repetoire (not just Jon's). Also consider making Twenty-four a full band song soon. When I hear the blank spaces in the podcasts, I hear alot of people yelling that one out. Maybe it's a sign. Well, all I can say is that if you don't have any knowledge of who Switchfoot is, buy this album. It's the least expnsive enlightenment you'll get, but, nonetheless, the most valuable. For those of you who are true and long-time Switchfoot fans, you'll be eagerly awaiting not just the new album being released in early 2009 (hopefully, it been being pushed back alot...), but also the arrival of the Fiction/Family record set to premeire very soon too. Mostly, When She's Near, and War in my Blood are awesome!!!

- These guys are so cool!

Ok I Love this band but I only got This is Home... the rest is maybe not worth your $11.00 unless you've got lots of money to spend! ;) Anyway This is Home is one of the best songs EVER!!! I LOVE IT!!!! GET IT!!!! It's not particularly one style but a blending of many. so beautiful :) definitely get it... (oh and am I the only one who thinks Jon Foreman needs to get a haircut!!! lol :) =D peace

- fabulous!

Great song.

- ment to live

this album is the best

- SWITCHFOOT

This band is so, so amazing! I love the song "On Fire." It speaks so deep. These guys are even better in concert. Love them. I suggest all their songs to anyone!

- Finally!

I only bought one song from this album: "This is Home". I am SO glad that is finally available OUTSIDE of the Prince Caspian Soundtrack. Yay! :)

- Awsom

This is cool you should get it Booklet sorta boring Best songs r 1 2 3 7

- I would

I would totally buy this album.. that is, if I didn't already have all these songs. Switchfoot is da bomb!

- Switchfoot

Definitly the best-only thing would be better is "MORE BEST OF" :-D

- Let's get down to business: Switchfoot is AMAZING

Just download this album- it will change your life ( Meant to Live, Stars, Learning to Breathe, This is Your Life) and it will get you through rough times (Shadow Proves the Sunshine, Twenty-four, Concrete Girl, The Beautiful Letdown). I am truly a fan of Jon Foreman's voice and this amazing band!! They ask the right questions and offer the advice that they've seeked out from the heavens. I do recommend that you listen to all of their albums as well, because there is not a single song they've done that I don't like. Other favorites are: Ben Hur, Amy, Living is Simple, We are One Tonight, etc.! Also "Equally Skilled" in Jon's EP is another good one. I could go on forever.

- This band is da bomb!!!

You should by all their songs

- awesome

buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this album is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! espcially stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Good CD, but missing some of their best

For most Switchfoot fans, they have probably only been following the band since they broke big with the hit song, "Meant to Live." But their first CD, The Legend of Chin, is still probably their best, most creative effort. Sure, it doesn't have the production value that their last few CDs have featured, but back then this band was truely unique. Here are a few songs you have to download that aren't on this Cd. You, Chem 6A, and New Way to Be Human, Might have Ben Hurr is a really fun song as well.

- Thx iTunes!!!!

The album's okay but I'm so glad I can now by "this is home" as a single song! If your not going to buy the album buy this song. It's sooooo (ect.) worth every ninty nine pennys!!!! Thanks iTunes!!!! :)

- Awesome

I love Switchfoot!!!!!!!! I love "This is home" and "Dare you to Move"! :) Can't stop listening to either of them!

- Yeah!!

Finally they got This Is Home for sale as a single if you want it instead of having to buy the whole Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack. Very pleased.

- FINALLY!

This is more of a comment than a review. Thankyou for finally having "This is Home" on a seperate CD from Narnia! I hated that the only time I got to hear it was on the radio! Which I immediately screeched, made everyone in the car be quiet, and listened silently to that awesome song! THANKYOU for FINALLY getting it up! I just bought it! Thanks for making my day Switchfoot. God is all over this song!

- The array

this is great for people who are just getting into switchfoot. Not only does this include many of their fast, popular songs( stars, meant to live dare you to move Oh gravity lonely nation company car awakening dirty second hands This is home) but also many of their better slow songs.

- Nice job, Switchfoot

Switchfoot, in my honest opinion, is the greatest group out there. And this is coming from a pretty big Beatles fan. Switchfoot can make great music (which all of these songs are examples of) but it is truly the writing in their material that is worth your $0.99s. The lyrics are the real music. They ask deep questions and put them into great songs, and sometimes make you laugh, too. But musically speaking, these are the kind of guys that can make jamming rock songs or can take it much lighter. And the rock songs have a purity which you usually find in softer music as well. So with these guys being around for roughly 10 years, they've brought out a CD which contains their best material from their own perspective, which does include stuff from '97. They have their hits (Dare You to Move and Meant to Live) which are both worth buying and other great ones like Stars, This is Home, Learning to Breathe, Dirty Second Hands, and Company Car. So I would really recommend those songs if you're not getting the whole CD. The layout of this "Best Of" collection is excellent. Of course they'll leave some of your favorites out. For me, they left out Chem 6A and Daisy, which you should buy right after buying this, but this WAS my favorite birthday present nevertheless (I actually got the Deluxe Edition, which has 14 videos INCLUDING Chem 6A.) Hardcore Switchfoot fans, or as I call them, "Foreman Fanatics" need to get it, and those who haven't heard switchfoot need this even more. Become acquainted with Switchfoot, one of the few voices in this day and age worth listening to. You're not going to be preached to like other Christian groups but you're not going to find anything meaningless. Basically, just do yourself a big favor.

- They Dropped The Ball

I know most of this album was Columbia's doing with help from Switchfoot, but really? They left off way too many necessary songs, and included way too many questionable ones. They left off very important (and good) songs like We Are One Tonight, and Gone (a song I have seen them perform live 3/3 times). Then they included songs like Dirty Second Hands, Lonely Nation, The Shadow Proves The Sunshine, and Concrete Girl. Concrete Girl a) is not Switchfoot at their best, b) was never a hit. I understand them trying to include some lesser known songs from their older days in this collection to try to give the listener a more complete overview of the band, but that choice really made no sense. It's like they tried to include some important singles, but then put lesser known non-singles in place of fan-favorites (Gone, We Are One Tonight). A few songs that should take place of others are You, I Turn Everything Over, New Way To Be Human. Two of those were hits, and they are also from the early days. Overall, they got the right songs in, and having This Is Home helps a lot, but not having the likes of Gone on the list hurts the credibility of this complilation.

- totally amazing

this is a great collection of great songs! if you're new too switchfoot, this cd is a good place to start when it comes to listening and loving their music... this music has changed my life.

- this is home

I am so glad they made This is Home buyable. I had almost bought the whole movie album for it. I'm glad I waited. I downloaded it right away. but they should have added more from Nothing is Sound. Besides that a great album! : )

- great selection, Switchfoot!

I'm not going to lie to you, I am an avid switchfoot fan. After seeing them live about a year ago it won me over even more. These 18 songs are basically what I would pick for a greatest hits album with a few exceptions. They provide a strong foundation in switchfoot's music that you can build on. The songs that defintiely deserve to be here: Awakening (my personal favorite), On Fire, Dare You to Move, Lonely Nation, This Is Your Life, Only Hope (made famous by the movie A Walk to Remember), Learning to Breathe, Oh! Gravity, and Meant to Live. Others to check out: We Are One Tonight (I'm so surprised this one didn't make the cut), Burn Out Bright, The Setting Sun, and Gone.
