"God In Me" is such an amazing song! I love the lyrics, and tune. This song has had a major impact in the teen population, of Christ belivers. I haven't heard the other songs on the album; however, I would purchase "God In Me".

...with music labeled as Christian Hip-Hop? What is so wrong with expressing your beliefs about your Savior in a catchy, hip-hop sound? Did Jesus say you couldn't worship in that kind of sound? A song is defined by its lyrics, and firsthand appeals to the listener through the type of music, in this case, hip-hop. If one will take the time to actually listen and understand the lyrics and not just shoot down the song as soon as they hear the catchy beats, then maybe they'll come to have a different opinion on the songs. This review is largely based on the song "God in Me", it's the only song I have of them. I do admit they could have made it better by making the "cool guy" and "cool girl" give glory to God out in the open rather than just thanking God in the privacy of their house. But for those "so concerned" about the "detriment of the Gospel through Christian Hip-Hop", those who are maybe looking for more explicit, straightforward statements about Christ in the songs rather than those that are implied, go check out Lecrae and Trip Lee. Those are two guys who you won't have to wonder, "Are these guys Christians?" By the way, rating is 3 stars as I do not have the entire album. -iL

Overall, good album! I am a believer who didn't grow up in the church, and I don't have a strong yearning for traditional gospel music. I enjoy some of it, but tend to find it stale and monotonous at times. Even some gospel videos lack 'freshness'. I think Mary Mary are evolving as a group, and continue to give us newness in the gospel music genre. Personally, it doesn't matter if David Banner is on the album, as everyone has a testimony and place on this earth.

This is great for a church song, the beat is out of this world n the words they are saying are very true. ever where I go I hear this song as a ringtone.love it

I am a 36 year old father of one beautiful daughter who loves Mary Mary. She's 10 and inspires me to continue to serve the Lord as a deacon at the Baptist Worship Center. Since she was 4 we fell in love with your music. In the summer, we blast the music so everyone can hear the awesome sound you provide. We will forever be fans of Mary Mary. To GOD be the Glory!!!

If this is a secular album then i guess beyonce's album is secular to the millionth power....For the numerous arguments about David Banner i must say that singing gospel alone doesnt make you godly,,,,living for God does....so many people are attacking him... so your saying if you rap you sin more then a gospel singer in God's eye's? I listened to a few 30 second clips out of boredom to see how bad this is, and I thought my ears were going to bleed. This is just annyoing crap. Also, "The invisible and non-existant look very much alike." Think about it... :p

Im going to do just what my title says which enlighten those hypocrits who obviously do not understand this album or the new wave of gospel music for that matter. I'm not going to quote scripture to you cause clearly you seem to think you know. But I will say this, the purpose of the new wave of gospel music is to reach the new generation. You can not expect gospel music that touched my grandmother to reach out and touch my child. If you do then you clearly do not understand the new generation. The message in the music is still the same message just sung in a way that the new generation will understand and I think Mary Mary has done a fantastic job in reaching them and others who follow suit. As far as David Banner goes (who is saved) whats wrong with using him in a record, its called creating a crossover effect. I dont remember this much fuss over Salt rapping in Kirk Franklin song "Stomp" and that was years ago when Gospel hadn't become so progressive. To get to the point my nephew, who doesnt go to church, was in my car and I had this CD in, he heard the message he loved how it came across and was all of a sudden very interested in the music and once he heard David Banner he was really shocked and the music was all of a sudden cool. I explained to him that we have upbeat, uptempo songs like this in church all the time and all of a sudden he was ready to go. To me Mary Mary has done exactly what Gospel music is suppose to do, which is to reach people. Please dont forget it! Its the same thinking that stops people from coming to church. You all should be ashamed of yourself.

Love Mary Mary til the end but I just can't get with David Banner being n superfriend. We have too many talented gospel rap artist that need thier voices heard.....thats why they get three stars. But I love the fact that it gets you up and dancing like David danced...HEY!! Its The GOD In Me!!!!

my title says it really. i am a believer but can't get into most of the religious music to the extent of going out to buy it. now was it because of the fact that the music sounded like what is mainstream...ABSOLUTLEY!!!!!! did i take in the message...ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Is that the point of gospel music (to spread the message)...ABSOLUTLEY!!!!! if ALL gospel music sounded like this, there would be a whole lot more followers of the word, why, because they can relate. people need to check themselves because its all about receiving the message, doesn't matter how it was delivered. i've said it a million times "why won't any of the gospel groups have ne-yo, the dream, manny fresh even, somebody mainstream produce and make a beat for them...people would listen,and again that's the point. as far as their clothes, they look like regular artists do nowadays: not the separated chuch folk. we all need to come together. and those talking about what they have on YOU JUDGING, and there's only one JUDGE. Mary Mary = got my attention, and my son's and I'm gonna share what I heard with my younger brothers (don't listen to gospel either), but know they'll like the music too, and bammmmm word spread to at least 7 people who wouldn't have known about it or received the message. and get this two of them in college for music production and one for music writing...so how you think that will pan out...possibly positive for GOD

these reviews really make me sick to my stomach. mary mary went with a different approach to attract new listeners and people are getting mad at them for it. It's okay to have an upbeat r&b type album, it attracts new people. People dont wanna hear that DREARY SLEEPY gospel music all the time. grow up and stop hating. if you dont have anything good to write or rate dont write anything at all!!!

To dismiss Mary Mary's cd because they have a song with David Banner is idiotic. That's like me dismissing your Christianity because you work with people who aren't Christians, but I'm sure all of y'all that have a problem with Mary Mary have all Christians at your places of employment . . . Anyways, now that I've got your attention, let's talk about Jesus. Jesus spent His time mostly with heathens. Why? Because it was the heathens that needed a Savior, not the saints. Quite frankly, "Superfriend" is gonna attract listeners who would've never listened to Christian music and/or don't go to church because of all the self-righteous hypocrites that are there -- I know so many folks who are like that. Now are they right for writing off the church because of all the hypocrites there? Of course not, but are we right in condemning them exactly the way Matthew 7:1 warns us NOT to do? And that's the same thing people are doing for shortsightingly denouncing Mary Mary's Christianity for gettin on a track wit David Banner. I'm wondering if you holy haters and self-righteous saints have written off Creflo Dollar and Eddie Long STRICTLY for being in Ludacris' "Welcome to Atlanta" video. The way I see it and the way I believe God'll see it is that if Ludacris, despite all sexually illicit and violent material in his music and videos, has enough sense to think of Bishop Eddie Long and Dr. Creflo Dollar when he thinks about Atlanta, why shouldn't they agree to get in the video? It's the saints who are walking by faith, not the world -- so how else are you gonna get the world's attention? I thought that's what we Christians were here for -- to reach and encourage the lost to get saved. People that listen to David Banner, Ludacris, and whoever else deserve a shot at the gospel, too. Execellent, It reaches three generations in my family. I personaly love it my mom loves it and so do my children. So as the kids say "all u haters keep hating" I'm going to keep loving and supporting Mary Mary.

This album by MaryMary is awesome, melodically, lyrically, and otherwise with its message being the obvious, Jesus Christ. This album is not just for the unsaved but even for us that are "saved." We are all sinners, even with God's forgiveness and mercy, we all daily continually fall short of His glory and we will continue to do so until the day He returns and cracks the sky..hence why He has made His mercy anew with every single rising of the sun...so this album is just as needed for the saved as it is the unsaved. There are so many church folk that continually keep on putting limitations on God and what He can or can't do through His people...God is a relevent God and it is saddening to see His people place Him in a box. Those of you placing judgement? Whoa to you...for unto you who hastily cast judgement....the same will be given unto you, and that is using the scripture within its context. God is doing what it is that He needs to do with and through MaryMary...it is obvious. Their ministry is flourishing in abundance and theyre reaching souls for the Kingdom, come on now, God is all up and through Erica and Tina....

I love the album. I love the HEART behind the songs and the music is amazing. I really wish people wouldn't judge an entire body of work based on one guest appearance. Yes, Saints, we ALL have flaws. If we could only get into Heaven by being perfect all the time, most of the people who left comments that were so super-spiritual wouldn't make it because your GRAMMATICAL errors would make you that less perfect. First off let me just say that this album is AMAZING!! For a long time i've been a fan of MaryMary and this is by far their best album. Before i speak on the whole David Banner topic i want to tell the people who read these reviews what they want to hear! My personal favorite is "It will all be worth it" because Erica and Tina are speaking from their hearts and are reaching the listeners in a way deeper than music, they are telling everyone that in these times to never let go of God because he has a bigger plan. "Im running" symbolizes runnig a race and keeping up with God, "Forgiven Me" is all about repenting(which most of us forget to do) and the joy of knowing God is still there! "Seattle", well lets just say you gotta listen for yourself, (its that gooooood). Now "Get up" and "God in me" are inspirational jams for everyone to enjoy making them the icing on the cake for this Albums. NOW DOWN TO BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!! if you don't like David Banner don't buy or download the song from the get go!! Me being young and having had hardships myself, knows what its like to want someone to reach out to me. MaryMary is not the first to have Rappers on their songs. David Banner, LIl Wayne, And TI can be put on gospel songs , Why? you ask because , if it weren't for MR. G-O-D they wouldn't be here. What all you commentors are doing is judging and that is a sin. Here is a little background on David Banner, he is your nephew, grandson, little cousin and most of your sons. He happened to fall off and God led him to something bigger, Rapping! Yes he still raps about Unholy things but he gives back to his community, helps Katrina victims, for his hometown is Mississippi where the hurricane hit. He also is a motivational speaker and was on e of the most outgoing campaigners in the past election from the hiphop community getting our youth to vote!! He has a mother that always told him God is first, and when he fell off those were the words he remembered. So before you go saying that MaryMary are worng for putting him on the song think again. And for your information, MaryMary does not speak to the lost they speak to the "stuck". Because noone is lost, crackheads and drug addicts and all sinners know that they need help and sometimes its those comforting words and doers of the church that can step out and tell them about God. You we've spent so much time quoting Gods words and interpreting them into what we believe they are saying, and look what has happened, the world is out of control and now we have to remind the people of who God is. Lets not start pushing rappers away like we do those in the church who don't look worthy or aren't what we think God wants. And what is more powerful than someone our youth looks up to, to tell them not everything they see on television is what God wants for us, not the fansy clothing, cars, or fast girls or looking like fast girls. It's all about getting to heaven and living the laws of the lamb. So it was not that MarMary wanted this album to speak to the "lost", they wanted this album to reach those who are able to contact someone in whom they thought were lost only to find out that they are stuck in their ways and need a new way, and for us to show them God. :) Everyone download this album and when you see someone in need of a pray or inspiring words lend them your ear plugs and let them take a listen! then Find your way to a CD store and support these New QUEENS of Contemporary Gospel in reaching out to not the "lost" but the WORLD!!! my blessing =0

This is a good album. I hate to hear Christians judging other people's sin because judging is a sin in and of itself. You shouldn't speak on Mary Mary doing a song with David Banner because you don't know how God used them to influence him, someone in his life, or the person that's listening to the song. As Christians we need to rejoice anytime someone is praising the Lord and join in on that praise, regardless of their past transgressions because we all have sinned and come short of the His glory!!! It's a good CD and I support their ministry. They are wonderful women and their light shines so brightly in this dark world.

I love the song get up so much. I understood the song so much.

i gotta say that this album is very good. i think it reaches out to young and old audiences. the song god in me is just a hit.i hear it played on non gospel stations. the music and the lyrics were wonderful together. i also thought it was a good idea to have all those gospel legends on the song It will all be worth it. i hope many more albums are to come

IMO, this CD is loaded with inspirational music. My favorite song on this disk is 'I Worship You'. I just love the way the songs blend together and the message is phenomenal. I've just read a few responses about David Banner's presence on the album as well as some of lyrics in some of the songs, well, leave that up to God folks. If the CD is reaching out to the lost, then let Mary Mary do their thing. If you think you can do a better job, then you put out a CD of your own. My husband for example is an ex-JW and was really against other Christian denominations, but the more I listen to this CD, he recently asked me to make him a copy so he could listen to it in his car! Now my husband enjoys listening to ALL gospel music, so I don't EVER put down how God works. Thank you Lord and thank you Mary Mary for the awesome CD!

I have yet to listen to this album but i am sure it does not dissappoint. People grow and expand in different ways, we as humans know that and the Lord, as the all-knowing, of course knows that. I am really responding to those self-righteous enough to speak down upon someone who has been chosen to spread the word of God. Just because someone has sinned and has shown themselves in a less than Christian light does not mean that their faith in the Lord is any less stronger than yours. Let he who be without sin cast the first stone. There is no one on this Earth who is sinless, the Lord knows that, He knows that some of us will stray away and eventually find our ways back to Him. My father is my pastor and I consider myself to be a Christian, but I know that I have sinned and more than likely I will sin again, I will learn from my mistakes and because our God is a forgiving God He will forgive me as long as i show repentance. Scorning someone because they are trying to do better is not at all "Christian-like." Mary Mary are good artists, and in his own right so is David Banner, he is a fantastic producer. I personally believe that his confession was truthful and all we can do is pray for him, NOT condemn him.

I am extremely disapointed with this album- Only 2 songs on this whole album are worth the downloard, I'm sorry this album was by far their worst Ever. (Just because you call it Gospel- does not make it Hot). It seams as though they wanted to capture the world on this one but lacked any conviction in the message. Note to MaryMary: 1st) what the world needs right now is simply Jesus because it's all about him. 2nd) We as fans and consumers want to be taken to a next level through a christian album, make the music and the message unique, just don't copy "The Sound" of the world.... Because it's All about Jesus.

i love mary mary. i think this is one duo and one cd that all christians can love the ladies are especially speaking to the young adults. It's the GOD IN ME, is especially worth wide. I bought it off of itune 3 days agao and i think i've listened to it for 8 hours straight. I love mary mary this album is definitely one of there best. These ladies definitely speak volumes and i appreciated it and as a young person i think they are getting the message across and speaking to my generation.

they dont say the name of JESUS CHRIST much at all,that I can clearly hear if His name had been said.(Dark and light can not occupy the same space) there is Trip Lee,Flame,Lecrae,Dre Murray,Dre Marshall,Fedel,Channel,Twyse,2edge,Andale',Pro,Kingston,etc..so many more gospel rappers you coul;d have used< make you think?!!!!

If you take the time to listen to all the sounds and stop judging you could hear. mary mary makes songs thang can touch not just the church world but everbody. ain't nothing wrong with that. my favorite songs are boom. get up, God in me, Superfriend, seattle worship ,I worship you, Really I love all of them. the clothes they got on are appropiate they are form fitting not tight. They are women with good curves and they aren't revealing things.

While I can appreciate the appearence of David Banner on the song Superfriend, there are plenty of gospel rappers that Mary Mary could have utitlized, like Flame, R Swift or Pettidee. It would have even been great to see Nuwine make a comeback to Christian rap! Though it was understandable and the song is great, they kinda took the low road on that one......

I think is really funny how we criticize some and not others. Mary Mary is getting the beat down for some of their music and the colaboration of David Banner, however, when I went to look over Kirk Franklin, who is being doing this forever, no one seems to care (i.e. Mary J Blige, Bono and R. Kelly who's song Yolanda Adams recorded in her album) How about CeCe Winans who redid a Marc Anthony's song "No One". Personally, I am not the one to judge. However, I believe that we should be the salt and light of the world. I believe songs should be praising God or personal testimonies that will help us feel that we are not alone and that God is with us.

i love mary mary...but this album is less than Gospel...Just because u sing about GOD that doesnt means its gospel...gospel has a bigger broader and better definition than this...dont get me wrong...i love mary mary, but this album isnt gospel...

If you guys, erica and tina, are reading this -your songs are off da hook! all of em', but especially these ones. i realize that everyone is gettin' all conflictie cause of you guys havin' David on your album, but you guys said it yourselves, it gave you guys as Christians the oppertunity to share your faith with him. And what i also love about this album is that it's not all that boring choir stuff. it's hip-hopie and funky, and will appeal to the unsaved because of that element. I don't know what people don't get but you can't get people to listen gospel if it's not cool. Whats wrong if they want to write crossover tracks. They're doing more converting to christianity, getting their music on MTV(which I actually saw) and having it on top 40/hip-hop stations, than some spiritual, we sing at church.

I think that this album is GREAT! Mary Mary has done an excellent job! God in Me is a wonderful cut! When I hear my young nieces praising the Lord and not ashamed of their faith, my heart bursts with pride. Thanks Mary Mary for making music that can bring the younger generation to Christ.

Okay, I think this is a good song. It's catchy. And personally, I think that it doesnt matter how she sings it. Whether hip/hop or gospel, it still praises God, does it not? I haven't really listened to Mary Mary in a while. Not because I don't like their music, but because I get kinda lazy sometimes. :) I had heard "God In Me" and seen the video, and I loved it. My aunt gave me the CD, and when I put it on and listened to the track, The Sound, I was literally dancing in the car! I loved all of the tracks. Now, with Superfriend, it seems like a lot of people are criticizing Mary Mary for having David Banner on the song with them. I'll be honest, I have no idea who he is, but from what I've read on here, he's a secular rap artist. I have a question for those of you who think they "unequally yoked" themselves with him: Did you look at the lyrics of the song? His rap? Because, if you did, you'd see that he's struggling with the same things some of you probably struggled with back in the day. He knows he's a sinner. He even said, "...in the church, Lord, I'm looked at as Satan/'Cause in my music I curse." But, he also said, "I'll fight for the light till my flesh falls deceased." I just think you should take the whole thing in context before you start criticizing. I think this is a job well done by Mary Mary, and I can't wait for their new project.

I know some people think that some gospel songs on this album have reached a level where it seems "inappropriate" to call it gospel. I feel that God reaches you wherever you are. The song "God in me" touched my spirit in a way as to say God has given me everything in my life and I know people around me are attracted to that. I am the second verse in this song....I am 26 have a house, car, money, great job, family and waiting on God for my partner...I know God has given me EVERYTHING...so when people approach me about my car, or how did I get my house, I have a responsibility to tell them where it came from...not me or my job...but God... my aunt always told me that God gives you these things to bring others closer to him....who is going to approach me for help or anything this day and age (unless they are a Christian hopefully) if I am looking a mess, no car, no job to help myself, dirty, etc....I am just keepin it real...our job is to teach people the Gospel and be a light to those who are lost and not keep everything to ourselves...I think the song is just saying that when God lives in you...it shows...he uses various things in the world (cars, jewelry, houses, clothes) to bring people closer to him because that's where some people may be actually "in the world...worldy things"...he uses that and blesses others who love him to be a light to someone else...I have people tell me they don't know what it is about me but they just are attracted to the aura I give...."It's the God in me"

This album is the business. I have to say that Mary Mary is my alternative to secular R&B and its gives us something to bump in our cars and still have a positive message. I appreciate and applaud these ladies for keeping it real and doing their style of music that they feel from their hearts. For all the haters and people speaking against David Banner, whatever. We all know that no one is without sin, so he without sin cast the 1st stone. We are all striving for perfection and trying to make it. If you don't like the song with him on it then skip it, but don't hate on the whole album just because of one song. I for one will continue to support these fantastic ladies and if you've never been to one of their live concerts make it a point to go, they are awesome!!!!. PEACE OUT EVERYBODY.
