i've be waiting so long for this album. It was worth the wait! (bedtime stories) is the amazing.
Great album definitly buy
Slim was the leading vocal that sold 112. His crisp tenor with the BAD BOY label swag. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING FAITH EVANS BACK ON 'SO GONE'. I may not have let the uptempo grooves grow on me, but I am a die-hard fan. I love 'More' & so many others. I hope you do well because I have not seen much PR by your label. MuzicLvr4Life
He needs to sit at the table with 112 and get everyone back together. We need groups who sound good now. Not Individuals that sound like everyone else. Get your own sound
ive ben waiting for slim to do his own cd for years he allways stood out in 112 realy good cd....
Uhhh... NO!!!!!!
Some good jams on here. Well put together.
The voice behind the classic 112 sound does not disappoint! My joint is "Sweet Baby" but trust me he's got about 5 smashes on here! Good work Slim.
This is NOT Slim's *best* work, but he found a way to take his sound and make it appeal to a mainstream audience and for that I give him props. It seems like the transition R. Kelly went thru musically. He's not the crooner anymore but I know he felt this change was needed for both him personally and career-wise. It's much better than the leaked tracks that were released in the past year. Songs like Sweet Baby let us know he's still trying to hold true to the sound we love. It's all pretty well done. I'll be listenin to this, all except Heels On which is an utter disaster in my own opinion. Sample it, if you like it buy it. If you support Slim and his career buy it. If not, just DL the singles.
As a member of the popular 90ās quartet, 112, Slim who has appeared on various rap artists albums, Three 6 Mafia and Young Gunz most notably, he is finally here with his debut release, Loveās Crazy. She Got That: Midnight Black start things off with some club heavy production and bass clap rhythms. Slim intertwines his light tender vocals through the club rowdiness, its definitely an attempt to draw mainstream appeal, however Slim doesnāt sound as comfortable as he should. Nonetheless a decent club cut. 3/5 Good Lovinā: Ryan Leslie creates a bouncy synth string accompaniment, as Slim croons over the track. Leslie assists on the hook, but the track is simply mediocre and even a decent Fabolous guest appearance canāt save the track. 3/5 So Fly: The lead single, Oddz N Endz deliver grooving bass, while the track glides into a chilled and relaxed mood. Slim sounds at home on this track, delivering his soft vocals with the fitting thump, yet smooth production. Joc fits the mood and only adds to the track. 4/5 So Gone: More of a midtempo, Slim sings with a bouncy rhythm that has a flirtatious effect. The hook is well done, but the verses are only decent, however the contrast of Faith Evans appearance works nicely. 3.5/5 Sweet Baby: Guitar melody with light claps in the background set the tone for a smooth and sweet track. The problem is the track turns a bit dull, as well as sappy and the autotune doesnāt help matters. 2.5/5 Heels On: The track has light keyboards, while Slim croons some dirty lyrics on the hook of makin love with the heels on. Yung Berg does his typical verse of being with a girl, reminiscent of his own hit āThe Businessā while unknown rapper, Deezo drops a decent verse. 2.5/5 Bedtime Stories: Slim heads toward bedroom ballads, as the production by Designated Hittaz & EP create the perfect backdrop. Slim uses his smooth croon and utilizes his falsetto to make a sexual bedroom number. 3/5 U Got Me (Addicted): Decent production, but it isnāt enough to carry the track. Slimās hook sadly isnāt polished enough and gets monotonous. However, he does show some vocal ability and emotion that is a plus. 3/5 Donāt Say It: Decent track, but the production is lacking. Slim sings okay, but the mundane production in the background makes this track too dull. Itās essentially bass and claps. 2/5 Leave U Alone: Slim joins in on the trend of autotune vocals for a bit on this uptempo number that is well produced by Mario Winans & EP. Twinkling piano keys, fitting basslineās and the building of production combines for an excellent track. All would be good, if it wasnāt for the autotune use. 3.5/5 Apologize: Fitting production by Kuya makes for a sincere and believable track. Slimās breezy hook and soft vocals shine here, as he pleads to his lady to forgive him for his mistakes. He uses some corny lines, but it overall sounds good. 4/5 Loveās Crazy: Slim finishes things with an uptempo Organized Noize production, as Outkastās Big Boi drops a guest feature and his flow is on point. Solid finisher that works due to the sparkly production. 3.5/5 Anything: An uptempo cut that has a dancefloor mood, the track is a decent club track. 3/5 Girl Like You: Smooth that has some sweet singing and a great melody. Solid bonus right here. 3.5/5 Slimās debut is filled with decent midtempos and uptempos. He rarely goes to slow paced ballads, which tend to work better for him. āSo Flyā is a welcomed summer jam with Yung Joc that fits Slimās tender croon, while āSo Goneā is a nice duet with Faith Evans. āU Got Me (Addicted)ā is a decent midtempo, along with the glittery āLoveās Crazyā and sexual bedroom number āBedtime Storiesā. Its the soft and sincere ballad, āApologizeā that will likely get listeners attached, as Slim creates a believable case of apology, it is one of the albumās highlights. While there are these moments of good, there are some tracks that fall a bit short. While āShe Got Thatā has a bangin club production, it doesnāt suite Slimās soft croon as well and ends up being too far of a reach for mainstream. āSweet Babyā is likeable and smooth, but does get dull and tends to be a bit too sappy. āDonāt Say Itā falls flat and goes to boredom because of the weak production that leaves Slim out to dry and he doesnāt have the voice to captivate you without a beat. Slimās debut is a worthy disc, that should appeal to 112 fans and others heās picked up along the way. However, I think he sounds better with his group, but he does hold his own, just doesnāt have the impactful voice to be destined for R&B stardom. Rating: 7 out of 10
