- hello hurricane

simply the best album none buy switchfoot ever. You can just feel the amount of effort they put into it and the music reflects this in every way seriously if your considering it buy it!!

- Re-invention

With "Hello Hurricane", Switchfoot seem to have found a good balance between the experimentation on 2006's "Oh! Gravity." and the radio-friendly "Nothing Is Sound". The final product is an aural masterpiece, and is definitely worthy to be ranked - along with mainstream breakthrough "The Beautiful Letdown" - as one of their best releases to date.

- Wow.

Is it just me, or has Switchfoot completely changed their sound?! I'm not complaining, I actually really like it!!! Don't get me wrong, I love all their old albums too, I've got every one of them, but this new sound really is awesome. Like ukulele_ninja said, you really can feel all the hard work and effort they put into this album to make the songs come alive, and I love how it sounds. Switchfoot's sound has progressed so much throughout their years, and I'm proud to say that they can pull off any sound and still sound fantastic. Shot Switchfoot, keep up the amazing work.

- Fantastic

As a long-time Switchfoot fan, I was really excited to listen to Hello Hurricane. The 'Mess of Me' release prior to the album gave a good indication that this was going to be another superb Switchfoot delivery.... and boy is it good! In fact, it's fantastic! 'The Sound (John M. Perkins' Blues)' is such a powerful song and it is well accompanied by some excellently written and performed songs. Love this album and highly recommend to Switchfoot fans and newbies alike.

- Switchfoot Hello Hurricane

Absolutely awesome!!!! John Foreman sounds great. Every song is the best ever. Can't wait to see these guys at Parachute Music Festival.

- Real Easy Listen!

Awesome album to own man! I had never heard of them before this album, but now I'm hooked so i'll have to check out their past stuff. Every song is listenable, without all the cruddy album fillers, that even top shelf artists even do. Would love to see some more singles hit some airplay. Obviously you can't go past Your Love Is A Song, I really like Mess Of Me and The Sound. But as previously mentioned, they all are pretty catchy.

- Different but still Amazing

The sound in this new Switchfoot album is abit different from their previous albums. However it is still amazing the sound is mind blowing. You can tell a lot of hard work has gone into this album.

- amazing.

well, I've listened to this album about 50 times now, and I like it more every time I listen to it. Switchfoot have such a broad talent from screaming rock to ballad, and seem to do them all well on this album. There aren't many albums that I can honestly say I like every single track, but this album is such an album. If you haven't bought it yet, do it, you won't regret it.

- Truly a work of art...

Switchfoot is by far my favorite band, and they certainly didn't disappoint with this album. I love every single track, but my favorites are Hello Hurricane, Yet, Bullet Soul, Red Eyes, and Free. I can't narrow it down any more than that! Switchfoot rocks...... literally.

- Addictive.

Awesome album. Top three songs are my current favorites list. "Your love is a song" is addictive.....

- Sweet

I love a

- Fantastic

This album is so good. They are a fantastic band! Saw them live with Goo Goo Dolls at the Greek and they were so good. They are a band that knows how to perform and play their music with depth and abandon. This album is one that you just play over and over again.

- FREE

Free is a very good song more people should listen to it. But this is totally a new switchfoot, i haven't decided if this particular change is good.

- Hello Hurricane

This album is awesome. I love it they did an ecellent job with the lyrics.

- Amazing.

i have loved switchfoot forever and this album is one of my favorites. Its so chill and the songs are pure genius. Honestly you should buy this album.

- 3 simple words.

Umm how do I state the absolute awesomeness of this cd. Well here it goes! Three words BUY THE CD! It will not disappoint!

- Buy this. PLEASE

This album is amazing. I saw them in Dallas back in November and they played very song off this cd. At first, I was like "could we hear some of your old stuff please?". I couldnt have been more taken back. Every song is beautiful. The lyrics truly came from Jon Foreman's soul. You can feel it. It's very rare that every single song is good on a cd. You'll typically have a few duds, but not with this one. It could probably be their best yet and I was a HUGE fan before. I like to take looooong drives with this cd.

- Still love them!!!!!

I loved these guys since the day I heard meant to live! They seem to have lost popularity the past couple of years but with this album I think they deserve a come back and they still got it!

- ONE WORD: SWITCHFOOT!

oh my goshhhh switchfoot was amazing live. they are so sweet too, i love them to death. top 5 songs: 1. enough to let me go 2. your love is a song 3. always 4. hello hurricane 5. needle and haystack life in other albums, oh! gravity., i dare you to move, meant to live are also amazing !

- Excellence

One of, if not, the best album I have ever heard. I've loved Switchfoot since my brother started playing it in his car. I wanted to find out why he liked Switchfoot so much, so I was listening to this CD. So many great songs on this it'd be really hard to say which is best if someone asked me. Great job in composing the songs and album. Switchfoot, you rock!!

- Great Album!!!

Switchfoot is amazing!!! At first when i bought this cd i thought that they had lost their old-skool sounding that was unique for them (Beautiful Letdown, Nothing is Sound, etc.) but they have really progressed from being good to even better! This album is a definite buy!!! Needle and Haystack Life- great upbeat song, fun to listen to on a long drive. 9/10 Mess of Me- great original switchfoot song! almost like oh, gravity but deep. 10/10 Your Love is a song- one of my favs. great lyrics fun to sing along to and completely true. God's love. 10/10 The Sound- another great upbeat song, sort of like their nothing is sound album songs. mosh pit style. :) 9/10 Enough to let me go- I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Great guitar, long drive song, it's slower but it's amazing!!!! 10/10 Free- great drums, guitar. lyrics are amazingly true/deep. 10/10 Hello Hurricane- fun to sing along to love the "oh, oh, oh, oh"s great long drive song. 10/10 Always- great lyrics but probably not the best song jam out to- for those more interested in upbeat. 8/10 Bullet Soul- fun song! very upbeat 9/10 Yet- slow but as always their lyrics are great. 8/10 Sing It out- long/slow song but still good (5:17) 9/10 Red Eyes- LOVE IT!!!! another one of my favs on this album. medium tempo but great lyrics. this is a great song! 10/10

- There best yet....

They still keep coming out with better and better..Unreal album..just buy it..

- The Best!!!!!

This is there best album since the beautiful letdown. Your love is a song and mess of me are my favorite songs on this album

- AWESOME!!

This is an awesome album!!

- The Best Yet!

You know a band is great when their albums get better over time... unlike many of the "idol" types who flame out after one album or song. I didn't think Switchfoot could match The Beautiful Letdown... but they've not only matched it, they bettered it! This is simply one of the best albums ever... by any band. Favorite songs include The Sound (check out the video version too!), Hello Hurricane, and Mess of Me, but there's not a mediocre song on this album.

- True Successor to the Beautiful Letdown

Every song is fantastic.I'm a Beatles fan and switchfoot is the next best thing.

- Genius!

First off, I'm not a fan of most alt rock, but Switchfoot has been one of my favorite bands since I first started listening to them about six or seven years ago. I personally think that Hello Hurricane is the band's strongest album yet. It really nails the feel of what makes Switchfoot music, well, Switchfoot music, and I think that the message of the album is a great summary of what the group stands for. However, I think that the reason why some people weren't impressed with it is maybe that they're focusing on individual tracks rather than the album as a whole, which I think is the best way to really appreciate it. There are a couple tracks, like "Always," that I think fall a little short of Switchfoot's standard, but fit in very well when you view the big picture of the album. Then again, there are also some tracks, like "The Sound" and "Hello Hurricane" that are fantastic even when standing alone. And let's face it, tying the album together by incorporating a few lines of the first song into the very end of "Red Eyes"...it's sheer genius. Definitely a 5-star album in my book.

- The Best Yet

Switchfoot has really surprised us with a new edgier sound and a youthful feel while gaining musical maturity. Mess of Me and The Sound are two songs that continuously get stuck in my head and I don't dislike. They are catchy and the lyrics are exceptional, especially for a college student who has faced a lot of things in his 4 years (me). I heard Mess of Me live, and it blew my socks off. Jon Foreman is a great musician, and his band is not any different! Great album! Buy it!

- Awesome!!!

They're the best!!!!

- Phenomenal:

Hello Hurricane is melodic, catchy, and powerful. From it's beautiful exterior, to it's emotional interior, Hello Hurricane is one of the best CD's I have ever had the pleasure to listen to... Better yet, review. Being a previous fan of the "The Beautiful Let Down", "Nothing Is Sound", and "Oh! Gravity", I am in no way let down by this addition to their fine line of music. Switchfoot's graceful lyrics are enough to bring any understanding human to tears. I highly recommend this CD, and wish to see it sell well. Thanks Switchfoot for another great CD!

- Must own

Longtime u2 fav band Switchfoot is now it after buying this album!

- wow

this album has some amazing songs on it. the song always is my absolute favorite but so is your love is a song an an hello hurricane. I EXTREMELEY RECOMEND you buy this album. Every song has a different meaning but it is always touching.

- Switchfoot :-)

Dang this album is good. It's really hard to find consistantly good music like this. This band can make one album amazing rather than having three good songs and have the rest "filler songs". These tracks are amazing!

- One of the best CD

Quick review(full review below):BUY THIS RIGHT NOW IT IS AMAZING! It is the best CD I have listened to in 2009. If you only want a song or two get the song Hello Hurricane and Red Eyes. Full Review:Ok, from the start the CD is great with Needle as it reminds me of U2. Mess of Me, is the song that would be crazy live with the band. Your Love Is A Song is another great of the slower rock songs on the CD and one of the best. The Sound is just like Mess of Me where it would rock live. Enough To Let Me Go is another great slow rock song, I like it over Your Love Is a Song. Free is prob my least favorite song on the CD but it is still a very good song it is a great song and leads to the best song IMO, Hello Hurricane. Hello Hurricane is the best song on the CD by far, it is one of my most played songs on iTunes (100 and counting)which has stuff from Relient k's mmhmm and Five Score. Always is the best of the slower rock songs along with Red Eyes, the song is my brother's favorite and it is in my top 3. Bullet Soul reminds me of a band that playes in small gigs and they just have fun with it. Yet is another one I don't like as much but I love to listen to it. Sing It Out is also another awesome slower rock song that is really good, and last on the normal edition CD is Red Eyes. Red Eyes is my second favorite song on the CD, my favorite part of the song is the end where it has a mix of lyrics from that song and Needle and it is a perfect end to a prettymuch perfect CD. I give this CD a 9.8/10 BONUS: This is a review of the three extra songs on iTunes you can get, first is Mess Of Me Acoustic. This is a great Acoustic cover of a great song, its not my favorite of the three extra songs but it is great. Always (Alternate) is my favorite of the three extras and the difference between this and the normal is a different verse near the end and some differnt guitars in it. Last is Stiches which is a song from a upcoming EP by Switchfoot called Eastern Hymns for Western Shores and it is a cut out of the CD and is a pretty good song and different from some of the others. With the three extras the CD is even better and it is almost a 9.9/10.

- :D

Beautiful Album! I've been reading some reviews and many say that this isn't the switchfoot they like?!? i am a huge fan of SF and there my fav band. But people need to understand that the switchfoot from 1997 isn't the switchfoot from 2009! The world changes in 12 years! The lives of the band members change also! So that affects how there music is played and how foreman rights his lyrics! Besides that 10/10 and I love the theme of this album! "hope" and "faith" :D

- Just what I needed..

Recently, I've been looking for some music that's more than alternative. I needed something different and refreshing. This is it.

- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I was just looking at my "on this day app" and it said it was drew shirleys birthday so I, Chloe, say to you, drew, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! O yea and this is a great album!

- Incredible Album

Switchfoot have truly reached a new level with this album. It just captures you, and won't let you go. Many of the their songs from the past have a bit of a bite to them, but these songs show a different side of them. "Mess of Me" and "The Sound" are a return to the familiar, while "Hello Hurricane" and "Yet" show how dynamic this band is. Definitely worth the money

- Switchfoot

Awesome! buy it.

- ONE OF MY FAVORITES YET!!!!

This is a must have. I am in love with so many songs on this album. The words are so beautifully written. Thank you switchfoot for such an amazing album.

- What can we do if the rumors are true?

Switchfoot is awesome, buy the album.

- Switchfoot songs ALWAYS have such heart in it!!!

I only liked a few songs on this album at first! But I just listend to "Enough to Let Me Go"...... & i really love this song rite now. It struck a chord with me!! To me it's talking about how when you love someone or care for them I'm not in a relashionship right now but I can relate to what Jon Forman is saying. I am in a situation where i'm at the beggining stages of getting to know someone...& he's not a christian! Although I have feelings & care for him & i believe he has feelings for me, I have to let go of this picture of being in a serious relashionship with him. I know he needs God & i desperatelty want him to know God!

- :)))

Love these folks!!!

- Great Album

Mess of Me 9/10 Your love is a song 9/10 The Sound 10/10 (Fav) Bullet Soul 8/10 Buy these 4 amazing songs

- Typical Switchfoot...Which is Good.

This album is awesome. Has many catchy songs on it. In typical Switchfoot fashion, no two songs sound the same. "Mess of Me" is a guitar led, distortion-laden song that challenges us to look at ourselves as the problem before we blame others, and "The Sound (John M. Perkins Blues)" is a really fun rock song with guitars in drop D. The album keeps an upbeat sound until the last three songs which mellow out, but have striking lyrics all the same. I love this effort by Switchfoot. They are my favorite band and I'm really in a place where I appreciate all their songs because they speak to me. Many hail "The Beautiful Letdown" as their greatest work and it very well may be. For me personally, with Switchfoot's diversity from album to album, I can appreciate the way they work different sounds into everything. Following this band is like being on a really fun journey for me; the scenery changes (the sounds of the music) but the heart and point (deep, thoughtful and provoking lyrics) stays the same. I really enjoy Switchfoot's work from back in the day, and their sound is different now with added band members but it's fine because they are still Switchfoot. To end, I would suggest that you listen to the samples and decide for yourself. I enjoy everything by Switchfoot, but don't let me decide for you. I like this band and this album, but have a listen and decide for yourself.

- Okay

It's okay. . . The vocals are rough on the rocking songs, and the slower songs are pretty much boring. Hello Hurricane?? Sorry, when I think Hurricane, I think The Scorpions and totally awesome rock - not pretty and chill. I really wanted it to be as groundbreaking and awesome as Beautiful Letdown, but it's not even close. Needle and Haystack and Mess of Me are fabulous - I'd recommend buying those two songs and skipping the rest.

- Great song

I like the song Your love is a Song. The others are alright.

- AMAZING ALBUM!!!

this is their BEST album yet! you have GOT to buy it!

- One of their best albums to date

This group is so talented and creative, and Jon Foreman's incredible song writing ability is on full display with their newest album "Hello Hurricane." The tunes on this album range from heart-felt pieces like "Your Love is a Song" and "Always" to powerful alternative ballads such as "The Sound." Even better than The Beautiful Letdown in my opinion, all I can say is I cannot wait for their next release. This band is definitely moving in the right direction!

- REDONKULOUS

This is hands down switchfoots best album.

- awesome but better in concert

this album is good, but songs like the sound sound kind of out of tune. I just came back from their concert and the sound sounded better than meant to live in their concert. theyre much better live.

- incredible

i've been a huge fan of switchfoot ever since The Beautiful Letdown, but this album just blows me away. they've always been awesome, but i can barely believe how much i love this cd. its really deep, and i can really relate to every single song. i dont know if i could even pick a favorite song.. maybe Stitches because i think its the most played song on my ipod tho

- Best since The Beautiful Letdown!!!!!!!!

The question for me since switchfoot hit a goldmine with The Beautiful Letdown was not whether they would make a good album(since they never seem to disapoint) but whether they would be able to top it. This is a switchfoot album at its fullest, it has those great songs that a car full of buddies can pick up and be having a blast singing in a heart beat, but also those heart wrenchingly emotional songs that seem to connect with everyone who listens. Building back some momentum after what i thought to be a bit of a studder in their career in Oh! Gravity, they have really branched out from reaching only the christian radio to having one of their new songs(The Sound) featured on the blackberry storm 2 commercial!!!!! Congrats to the band for reaching a new height in their musical career. HOOAAH FOR ALL THE KIDS(LIKE ME) WITH THE BULLET SOULS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- what

itunes is not treating this band well all I saw back in Novemeber was this album in what's new not top ten albums i think itunes is rigged cause this is a great album nut it wasnt advertised very well

- A good purchase

In my opinion this is one of the best albums on the market today. They are slightly more accessible than Coldplay (which is a band that rivals the musical talents of Switchfoot) and have a variety in their songs which is not often seen on the scenes of today's music. The album opens with an eerie tune which quickly evolves into the catchy Dare You To Move-esque "Needle and Haystack Life" From here on out the CD starts switching between every song, going from upbeat to softer to fast to slower. The last three songs are softer, and the very last song ends with an introduction to the fist song, making a cycle, which mimics a hurricane if one listens to the album twice. The soft-upbeat patern is the motion of the winds blowing back and forth. The last three songs are the "eye of the storm," the first time one listens to the album, and are the end of the storm the second time the album is listened to. This surprised me as I realized that Switchfoot was not only talented in creating music, but also in crafting a unique album. The album has four harder rock songs (which many critics have called "crunchy") being "The Sound," "Bullet Soul," "Free," and "Mess of Me." All four are solid hits with "Bullet Soul" being the weakest. Even so, the fact that "Bullet Soul" is the worst song of the four attests to the strength of this band. The band performs equally well on ballads with "Your Love is Song," "Hello Hurricane," "Always," and "Enough to Let Me Go" all being amazing songs. The 11th track, "Sing It Out" is probably the weakest song on the album, partly because it feels like it should be the last song on the CD, yet mostly because of the unusual arrangement. While starting the song off a capella is a creative way to experiment, it is simply not up to par with the rest of the album. Nonetheless, it is still a good listen, but don't expect it to become one of your favorites. The last song is an under appreciated "Red Eyes." The lyrics on this song are particularly stunning with the words hitting the soul of every listener, "What are you waiting for/The day is gone/I said I'm waiting for dawn." This is acompanied by a soaring chorus, which completes this song, "With red eyes/What are you looking for with red eyes?" As usual, Foreman's lyrics are superb, standing out on every track, and yes, that includes "Sing It Out." While some may not care for the vocals, I personally enjoy them and can give this album no less than a 5/5 rating. An outstanding effort by an outstanding artist. I am anxiously anticipating their next release.

- pricey

i love alternative music!!! i wish i could have the money 2 by tho

- Switchfoot is AWESOME

I saw switchfoot in concert and they are amazing I lovvvee the song your love is a song

- One of Switchfoot's finest

This is their 1st effort as a self-produced album, and I certainly hope it's not their last. Although their earlier releases were well produced and engineered, I felt that they suffered somewhat by the constraints typical of large studios and their schedules,etc.. This music speaks to my heart, and I'll keep on buying it as long as I feel that Switchfoot is genuine and honest in their music. Jon's singing hasn't yet shown the strain and fatigue of constant touring and the musicianship remains top-notch.
