Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie

The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie by Red Hot Chili Peppers Song Info

According to The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie Songfacts, the song originated with a specific exercise where Flea set out to write a classic bass line. Klinghoffer added guitar and drummer Chad Smith a backbeat with extended cowbell to what became a mostly instrumental hour-long jam. Kiedis liked what he heard and added semi-improvised lyrics. The single was anticipated to be released on 18 July 2011 but was leaked on 15 July 2011, the band had little concern over that and decided to release it early.

- Great music

Was very impressed.

- Good Feel

Was not dissapointed!

- Josh rock

Never underestimate josh, he helps chilli making good music and making a clean album.

- Really really good album. Wasn't expecting it to be as good!

Really really good album. Wasn't expecting it to be as good!

- Surprisingly Good

Don’t be put off by rain dance maggie the album as a whole is pretty good

- Rhcp deliver a great album once again.

I brought this album expecting it to be kinda average due to the average reviews and the absence John Frusciante. I brought it anyway because I'm a hardcore fan and after the first listen, i instantly fell in love with it. Don't be put of if raindance maggie is not that great to you, there are still many great songs on it like monarchy of roses, factory of faith and even you brutus? (i haven't listened to the whole album yet otherwise i could name more songs.) This is a funky and uplifting album that is essential for every Rhcp fan. I brought the physical version of the album by the way.

- Awesooome!!

After seeing the titles and hearing of Frusciantes departure I was a bit comprehensive but being the Chili's fan I am I bought the $55 package with t-shirt and poster and was amazed. The songs aren't as slow as I expected and overall a great album, lots of different sounds so try it out. You won't be disappointed!!

- Expect the unexpected

While missing one of their key band members, I was questioning what this album would be like. I was happy impressed. Different style of Chili's music. Reading Anthony Keitis book right now and can see the influence of drugs on their previous music. This album is a lot 'cleaner' in that respect, although drugs brought about the absolutely awesomeness of their other music. Legit album. Love all the songs.

- AH-MAZING!!!

I had a feeling that I shouldn't buy the album because of John being gone, I am so glad that I did get it becuase it made me wanna dance, dance, dance and sing to all of the tracks, I swear that the rhcps are getting better every day!!! I love the album and have enjoyed it withh my mates as well! Cool as guys, keep going with the AWSOME songs ahe!!! Definitely recommend to anyone with a good taste for music!

- Not the same

Compared to any other album they've made, this is total garbage. The rhcp have gone from some of the worlds best musicians to just another average mainstream band. What's missing? John Frusciante, one of the best guitarists that ever lived. I'm really disappointed that they think its satisfactory to replace him with someone as bad as Josh Klinghoffer, he's an average guitarist at best and is not even remotely compable to John. You can tell the band relies on the singer bassist and drummer almost completely now and its just not the same.

- RHCP!

Nothing more and nothing less

- enh

The only really good one was "look around". They made a bad move replacing fruciante, and overall, the band seems to have lost a lot of its pep.

- Amazing Album Idiot Fans

I read a comment stating that the fan now doesn't like RHCP because they played a show in support of Obama. Thats extremely infantile. "They don't like what I like so I don't like them" -Fool

- Great Album, Guitarist Down

As it was made public, John quit the band which allowed them to go back to their funk roots. The first producer they ever had was a funk producer, freakey styley and so on got more towards rock, im happy they went a different way and let flea run wild

- Underrated

This is the chili peppers at their best! Josh Klinghoffer is not the same, but he is still a worthy replacement for John. If you listen to this album in its entirety, i think youd be surprised. There are fast upbeat songs (Monarchy of Roses), and slow, melodic ballads (Brendan's Death Song). The only song i dont like is Even You, Brutus? which sounds a bit too much like eminem. Other good tracks are Police Station, Look Around, Ethiopia, Rain Dance Maggie, Meet Me At The Corner, and Did I Let You Know. This isnt the end, its a new begi ning.

- AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

THIS IS MY FAVORITE BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- They're back!

This album shows that the chili peppers can still make excellent music, even with a new guitarist, josh has done a great job replacing John. Love this album and would recommend it to any long time chili pepper fans

- I am very happy with the new and fresh RHCP

I have had this album since the day it came out. I loved it from day one but I did miss John. I can tell Flea took a lot of the creativity space that John had when he was in the band. This album has a funky sound and a little bit more funky than their last three releases with John. I loved the vibe that John had with the band and was somewhat critical of Josh's playing in the album. But after hearing this album hundreds of times I see how great of an artist Josh is. I knew he was a great artist with John on albums such as Shadows collide with people and A sphere in the heart of silence and all of the other albums Josh and John had worked together on. This is a new side of Josh and a new side of the Red Hot Chili Peppers that I am happy to hear. I love songs like Meet Me at the Corner and Police Station, such great songs that tell great stories and hit me in an emotional place. Meet me at the corner is my favorite track off the album and a big reason for that is how the song gets so uplifting at the end. It was unexpected and great to hear. Songs such as Brendan's Death Song and Annie wants a baby both show a deep side of this new and fresh RHCP lineup and are a couple more highlights to this fantastic album. Monarchy of roses is the one song on this album that I would say touches on ground that is more expiremental, such as the verses in this song and the vocal effect on Anthony's voice. The time signature on Ethopia is crazy but the track is fantastic and one of my favorite basslines on the record. Even You Brutus is a great track as well and combines this shout vocal style along with singing and makes the track very refreshing to hear when you want to hear a lot of emotion within Anthony's voice. The only track I dont like so much is Dance, Dance, Dance. I feel this way because the guitar is really tranquil (and thats a good thing) but then the bass just dose not mesh well with it and the song was a lot more happy and "Dancy" then I expected. Chad Smith really carries this album very well. His drumming is fantastic like always but you cna really notice it here. If anyone dose not give credit to Chad for what he has done with the peppers well then you dont understand how crucial he is to the song writing process and how his energy sparks the band. I love his drumming on every track and its just obvious Chad gets better with age. Hey it's the Red Hot Chili Peppers as always they get a 5 out of 5

- longing for Frusciante...

I miss john so much. His hauntingly mezmerizing harmonies and searing guitar are sorely missed and OBVIOUSLY absent.

- It grows on you

Initially I disliked this album tho as I listened to it it grew on me. I find it addicting at times and can't help not loving it. It's definitely kidda different from their old stuff but just as good.

- Best band

Best song ever: Brendans death song

- Not the Same

I just don't feel the desire to listen to it over and over again as I have with past albums. I think the loss of Frusciante is bigger than originally thought. This album is a dud in my opinion.

- Classic stuff

Title says it all ...

- Not Bad...But still

So, elephant in the room. John Fusciante wasn't on this record for guitar, and we are all very sad about that. Musically, I felt like Flea and Chad pretty much carried this record on their shoulders, I felt like most of the new guitar parts were more auxiliary rather than the melody like John's parts were. Listen to any track except for Brenden's Death Song, Flea's bass line is almost always the melody while the guitar's are almost just there for decorative chords. Overall, it wasn't a terrible album by any means, the music was still good. But for Red Hot Chili Peppers, it was a step back, but an understandable one due to having lost Fusciante. Final words? JOHN COME BACK! WE MISS YOU!

- Some of the Best music out today! Love the Chili Peppers!!

At first listen i didn't feel connected with this album as much as their previous albums, but after listening to it a few times i have fallen in love with it!! Saw them in concert at the beginning of the summer and they put on an amazing show :)

- Very good

As always!!!

- Sweet

Cool

- RHCP!

Been listening to this band forever, so if your a fan of RHCP don't hate on there new material grow with them and stay loyal ! ✌

- 👎

In most of the songs the guitar is too quiet. The bass is too quiet in some songs too. That gets annoying, I want to hear everything fine without cranking up the volme so high! Along with that these songs are too mainstream and poorly done. This just isn't the kind of stuff I want to hear from the Peppers. This is the only album I don't like.

- Nay....

I just don't like this album. I won't say it's terrible but I like the other albums better. There was just something about Josh's solos that made the band that much better.

- Ok...

WE MISS JOHN

- Blood Sugar Sex Magick

...was the last album by RHCP that I can listen to. The rest (and I REALLY have listened to most of it.) is just drivel - I do lament this fact with every album they release. It's alternative adult contemporary. Man, the RHCP used to be dangerous, funky, not something you'd play for your mom or that you could listen to with your mom. I understand getting older. I turn 40 this month and I'm not asking for "Funky Monks" or "Walking on Down the Road", "Special Secret Song Inside" or "Sexy Mexican Maid", but really - Anthony Keidis sounds pretty much the same on all the songs. The bass is...where? Meh. I gave it 2 stars, because I still dig everything pre-BSSM, but that's it. p.s. Stay FAR AWAY from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame covers - blech.

- Chili peppers at some of its best

Red Hot Chili peps new album is so underrated. They have a wide variety of songs from fast, upbeat songs (Monarchy of Roses, Factory of Faith, Rain Dance Maggie) and slow (Brendan's Death Song) but it is not just the same with Josh. U should definitely see them on tour.

- Its alright...

I do appreciate the evolution of their sound and their contribution to the music world. However, I think this album may be my least favorite. I personally think they should have retired after Stadium Arcadium, that was a fantastic album and John F gave his absolute best. Im With You sounds like a compilation of Californication and By The Way b-sides, those albums were great and all, but the point is that its already been done. I just feel like this album was rushed and over promoted for the lack of effort in the quality that came out.

- Sorry RHCP

Do a concert for Obama Campaign Workers and I am gone...

- Great addition to an already impressive music catalog

Plenty of catchy choruses, dynamic bass from Flea as always, and an impressive variety songs on one album. Each song seems to tell a story, most of them very powerful and meaningful. This album surpasses every expectation.

- John Frusciante was the Red Hot Chili Peppers

I've grown up listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they have always been far and away my favorite band. I loved everything from Mothers Milk to Stadium Arcadium, with Californication and By the Way probably being my favorites. I'm not going to say that this album had no good songs because there are a few songs that you'll want to hear again. However, for the most part, this album is completely forgetable. This just goes to show how much John meant to the RHCP. I love Anthony, Flea, and Chad but they can't do it without John. He took them to a whole another level. Josh is capable of decent guitar work but this album doesnt show that at all. Maybe, a miracle will happen and Frusciante will put an end to his second hiatus with the Peppers and return for one last album. That would be an album I would buy; this isn't.

- I'm With You

I'm going to see u at The Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota can't wait!!!!!! Since they came out with this great album I have been listening to " Meet Me at the Corner" a lot even though I used to hate it!!! But the thing that RHCP is showing is that they have been having a lot of fun being a band and being new and a lot of peoples favorite band!! But in this album they express a lot to me!! It makes me more open to people and shows me more love and care against relationships!! So what I'm saying is that they inspired me a lot these last couple of years with new songs and having fun with writing and making songs!! That's what made me make a band with my buddies!! We are called "The Last Remaining" Monarchy of Roses 4.9/5 Factory of Faith 5/5 Brendan's Death Song 5/5 Ethiopia 5/5 Annie Wants a Baby 4.8/5 Look Around 5/5 The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie 5/5 Did I Let You Know 5/5 Goodbye Hooray 5/5 Happiness Loves Company 5/5 Police Station 5/5 Even You Brutus? 4.7/5 Meet Me at the Corner 5/5 Dance, Dance, Dance 4.9/5

- not bad

i wouldnt go as far to say it was a bad album, but i dont think it is as good as Stadium Arcadium, or RHCP greatest hits album but overall i thought it was good was pretty god.

- Average for the RHCP

I thought it was funny seeing someone posted in a review that the RHCP's stuff never changes. Go listen to their first few albums and become educated on the history of the band. That being said, I've loved everything between Mothers Milk and Stadium Arcadium, but this one just misses with me. I understand they're long past their days of funk/punk rock and wearing tube socks on their junk at concerts, but this is just too soft for me at times. I have no trouble listening to Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magick or Californication repeatedly. Those albums really show their edgy sound and catchy lyrics, along with the awesome bass and guitar riffs. No other band in history has a more talented bass player in my opinion than the RHCP have in Flea. But i honestly have trouble listening to this whole album without stopping to take a break, it's just simply not the same sound, I'll give Monarchy of Roses a good grade but after that its just too mainstream and average for the RHCP.

- Dear Johnny

John Frusciante is the RHCP's savior. He saved them twice before and my guess is he'll save them again when the time comes...

- good, but i really miss their old sound :(

i miss otherside, under the bridge, snow, dani california, cant stop, by the way, scar tissue, ALL OF THEM. please make more of you old songs :((((!!!!! as for this, i kind of like it. good job. :) LOVE YOU RHCP

- OOOOOOOF

I ALWAYS felt bad for FLEA.....

- It's an acquired taste.

You will not like it immediately, but eventually it will grow on you. I recommend Did I Let You Know, Ethiopia and Even You Brutus to start you off on this album.

- Boss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boss just too boss!

- Not a new a beginning, but a continuation to their greatness!

Forget for a second that Frusciante left the band, and try to accept the fact that he Chili Peppers backbone lies on Kiedis' heartfelt sometime fractured voice, Smith's perfectly solid groove and the unmistakably, infectious funky bass lines of Flea. Yes, in RHCP's career, guitar players come and go, and while with Frusciante they entered the contention of America's greatest band by creating three masterpieces (post BSSM), Josh and I'm with you feels like a new beginning that is not that new, but us still great. On the first song alone, "Monarchy of Roses", you get all you expect from the Peppers, from the melody to the dancing beats, from the dude-poetic lyrics of Kiedis to the psychedelic-Hendrix-influenced guitar soloing....John who? Bredan's death song is possibly the best most emotional RHCP song since Under the Bridge, not to mention that the video is exquisite. But the real beauty of the experimentation of this record comes at the end. Did I let you know is the perfect summer song, if this doesn't make you dance, check your pulse. Even you Brutus sounds like Flavor Flav circa Public Enemy teamed up with Fishbone, it sounds bizarre, but it works. Dance dance dance is a great way to finalize album that had you dancing all the way through. The Chili Peppers are creating music that is very hard to find nowadays; it's fresh, experimental, melodic, and very alternative. Maybe they already won the contention of America's greatest rock band, we just haven't realize it yet.

- I'm with you chili peppers

This is a great album. Period. People have to stop expecting the chili peppers to release another californication, those days are over. The chili peppers have grown and developed over the years and so we should have to. Take the music in. Give josh time treat this album like its johns first album and go out and see a chili peppers show. the guy rocks!

- ....wow....

I have listened to RHCP for the better part of 20 years now,and in that time you can hear and see RHCP grow and mature as artists. Anthony brings a level of emotion that we have not seen since I guess "scar tissue," it is (in every sense if the word) beautiful. "Police station" blew me away with the pain and tears woven into the sound and lyrics." This album is also loaded with an impressive amount of sounds from song to song, "did I let you know" is a great example of how they have grown in their music.

- Greatest Band Ever!

Awesome album as always!!!!

- Lost there funk!

There doing good pop music but I loved there early stuff. R.i.P

- RHCP ROCKS!!!!!!

One of my favorite bands and one of the best rock bands of all time!!!!! I've been waiting for an album since 2007 and I could not ask for something any better!!!!!! ALSO THEY PREFORMED IN MY COUNTRY LAST MONTH!!!!!!!!!!! GO RHCP!!!!!!!!!!

- 不错,就是喜欢红辣椒

不错,就是喜欢红辣椒

- exceptional record

as a megafan of RHCP i feel i may always be a little biased to loving everything they do. but forcing myself to be a little critical my main problem is that josh's guitar playing too often takes a backseat in this new band. his guitar solos are suttle and filled with loopy layered effects which sound awesome, but are not the guitar driven silky sweetness we all are used to with the great John Frusciante. that being said it is a good album with top notch songwriting and some of anthony's best vocals in his career, he has really grown comfortable as a singer. i love Flea's bass riffing whcih seems simple at the surface but is actually quite intricae as it fits in so well with the bands new sound. my only complaint is where is the slap! this is the first album that he does not slap AT ALL on i mean even by the way had a couple of slappy moments what is up with that? all in all the album is just as relaxed and jammy as it is choatic at some points which in my opinion is a perfect direction for the chilis. my only hope is that their sound becomes even more broader in future releases and that josh steps it up some more. Many people who dismiss the album as garbage just dont understand their new dynamic and just want them to shutup and play every track from Californication, the peppers are always finding new ways to construct their music as they move forward which to me makes them one of the most important rock bands out there right now. im saying 4 out of 5 but really i would give it 3.5

- Back on top!

Wow..these guys are awesome musicians! This album is RHCP now...but still worthy to be mentioned with the other great RHCP albums (which is really all of them!)

- Not a big fan

The red hot chilli peppers is one of my fave bands. I just don't like this album. It's different. However, brendons death song and rain dance Maggie are terrific songs.

- Forgetable

The album is all filler with the possible exception of Look Around. Listen to Blood Sugar Sex Magick again instead of this lame offering.

- AMAZED

I love this whole album well worth 11 dolars and as always, the RHCP seem to elevate there reputation and quality!!!!

- YEAH

I just can not seem to get enough RHCP…. This album has some classic cuts in particular "Brendan's Death Song" moved me but they are all hit and production is awesome. Highly recommended.

- Great Album Overall

When I first listened to this album, I'll admit I was a little disappointed. I listened through the whole thing expecting one or two immediate standout songs on par with "Under the Bridge" or "Snow" or "Californication", but I didn't find one besides "Adventures of Raindance Maggie" which had been released a month or two before. I was close to not even buying the album but I decided to listen to it again. On the second listen, I decided that the album was relatively decent and I bought it. By the third listen I had decided the album was very solid and I liked it overall. Now, after around eight months I've decided this album is AMAZING. Overall, the melodic interweaving of instruments are better than previous albums, and Anthony Kiedis is really on his game with nice vocal melodies and great lyrics. Although Klinghoffer may not deliver as impressive guitar as Frusciante, he has very nice melodic and rich playing as shown in songs such as "Meet me at the Corner" and "Annie Wants a Baby". Overall, this album really works and gets better and better every time you listen to it.

- The Peppers All The Way!

All the songs are awesome! Classic chili peppers.

- Fabulous New Album!!!!

Love the new sounds!!!

- New guitarist, new hits

Another great album from the RHCP!!! Sound more like pop rock but with that little twist of funk. Only negative point, this album is too short but fortunatly, we all have the repeat fonction on our iPhone/iPod. Congraduation RHCP for being such an amazing band

- the red hot chili peppers still rock

the is so so cool still the sound great with new guitarist josh klinghoffer buy the album

- Robust sound

And I love it! I like the fact that there is a fuller sound with the Cali vibe in full effect. For me, lead guitar is still there.. it's just different; but as far as I'm concerned just as excellent given the sound on this album. I think this is by far their best work to date.

- Awesome

All the songs are awesome

- Clicks after a couple of listens

JF's absence is really evident throughout the album as the guitar is mainly in the background. However, it's one of those albums where the songs really click after a few listens around. Here are my ratings Monarchy of Roses - 7/10 Factory of Faith - Groovy bassline. 9/10 Brendan's Death Song - 7/10 Ethiopia - Again, great bassline. Just a really fun song. 9/10 Annie Wants a Baby - Chorus is really nice, great vocal and guitar work really well together 8/10 Look Around - Great energy, wicked bassline. 8/10 Raindance Maggie - catchy song. safe first single. 8/10 Did I Let You Know?- really different but relaxing. 8/10 Goodbye Hurray - very energetic, addicting chorus. 8/10 Happiness Loves Company - dull. 6/10 Police Station - lush sounding, great chorus. 7/10 Even You Brutus? - sounds like a bad eminem impersonation. 6/10 Meet Me at the Corner - great guitarwork. 7/10 Dance, Dance, Dance - energetic closer. 7/10

- Awesome!

A lot different sound without John frusciante but never the less one of their best albums yet. It has a unique sound that is new to chili peppers music and shows up in the form of 14 great songs. Great job guys!

- Ok

Its just not the same with John Frusciante..... He was a true talent for the band.

- Amazing!!!

I'm With You is simply incredible!! It lived up to every expectation that I had, I could listen to this album on rotate all day long.

- Rhcp

I think this Is the best rhcp album yet. I really think that that it is a great album over all.

- Wow

Absolutely amazing album, a must buy. If you love RHCP, buy this album!

- Pepps

It's the peppers and it's great

- Awsome

A great album i loved it alot i would 100% recomend this album too anyone whos a classic chillis fan…but its not their best work clearly because of their age and loseing a great guitarist but either way great album

- 4,5/5 as a first impression

it's f'ing awesome so far!!!! flea totally rocks the whole entire album, and makes the entire album. josh is too quiet in most of the songs, but i like what he's doing, and chad is f'in awesome!! chad anthony and flea are SO tight its unbelievable.. AMAZING, 100% happy with it and i can't wait to see what else they have in the future! can't believe this was only 14/70 songs that they wrote already, can't wait to hear some of the rest!

- Strongest release in years!

This release is a breath of fresh air from 'The Peppers'.A cleaner ,funkier offering from the last couple albums. It might not be 'Mofo Party' or 'Blood Sugar' but it's a welcome response to the disappointment that was 'Stadium'. Thank you from me gents for taking the time create a fine piece that I think will be enjoyed for years to come. Zum Wohl!

- Awesome album

Incredible, one of their best albums.

- Pure Chilis

This album is getting a lot of unwarranted criticism when it really is one of their greatest ones. Yes, Frusciante isn't in it so the guitar may not be as complex as in previous works but that's not the only component to a great album and this one has several other elements. Flea's piano and trumpet round off their sounds and create something unique, and Anthony's singing has never been better. The more I listen to this album the more I love it, there are so many great songs, both ones that resemble the more recent Chili's style such as Ethiopia, Look Around, and The Adventures of Raindance Maggie, as well as songs that take the band in a new and exciting direction. Even You Brutus? reminded me of their older days of rapping to funk, even though it has a new piano twist to it. Bottom line, you have to let this album grow on you because it is quite different, but its earned its stripes as one of their best.

- Incredible!

What a great record the Peppers have out out. I really wasn't worked after Frusciante left, as he's quit before and the Chili's kept on moving forward. Klinghoffer really has some big shoes to fill, but he did filled them, and did it well. His usage of layering guitar riffs over top of each other really changes the atmosphere of the songs, but it's interesting hearing so many little bits and pieces of guitar on top of each other. He has a different style than Frusciante, but the influence is still there. This record isn't necessarily bad, as it's different from their older more, "funk," stuff. This record still has those funky Flea bass lines, syncopated guitar riffs and rock solid drumming, they've just broadened their horizons as musicians. The compositions have become more complex, and having the addition of Flea's piano and trumpet playing have really changed the vibe of the songs. Ethiopia is one of the most different things they've ever recorded, not only as it's in 7/4 but also the addition of latin percussion. Anthony's voice is another standout of the record, as his vocals have improved greatly. Brendan's Death Song is very evident of his vocal work and is a beautiful piece. Although the Chili Peppers have changed their style somewhat (including more ballads, more experimental bridges and different time signatures and phrasing) they've still been able to capture that Chili's vibe that made me fall in love with them. Download: Ethiopia, Brendan's Death Song, Even You Brutus?, Factory Of Faith and Monarchy Of Roses

- Funkass music

Need I say more? It's RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS mfkas! A must have for those who grew up with the band!

- Never a bad album

John will b missed but josh klinghoffer is the best replacement for the chilli's. Its one big happy family

- Great!

Great album, definitely worth picking up

- not sure

i like it, the more i listen to it the better it sounds, but like others probably thought it just won't ever be the same without John Frusciante. Don't get me wrong it's still good, just not as good as it would be with him. Thst being said I find half it to sound like Stadium Arcadium and the other half like their older stuff.

- Their best work

This album is one of their deepest.

- Good album, very catchy!

Very good album, seems very dark for the RHCP. John can't be replaced but Josh is a perfect replacement. Also the introduction of the piano is very awesome!

- Another very good album from RHCP

Love it!

- Awesome list of tunes

It's good to have the peppers back. Even though John has set of to do his own thing, Josh had done an amazing job adding his own kind of style/flare to one of the greatest bands off all time. I like it. Red Hot Chili Pepper fan for life!

- Cold limp chilli peppers

If you remember back in the early 90s when a new Chili Peppers album came out, you would remember the freakish joy that would come from such an occasion. It seems that moment is no more.

- Good but missing

Really good you guys got another album out and good to hear your still going strong. But there is something missing, I think its the crazy element you bring to it, Also need more influence from punk rock and your other earlier styles

- Hmmm......

Hmmm......

- It's a chili's album!

It is what it is. I like it. It's not their best album but there's still plenty to like about it. In regards to John not being there it seems like the guitar playing is very similar anyway. The only place it' obvious it's Josh is in the backup vox which unfortuanately don't work well. Apart from that as an album it's pretty cool.

- Still my fav <3

Obviously this was never going to be their best album, it's impossible to recreate the same dynamic with a different guitarist. Dave Navarro's style of guitar playing was different from John Frusciante's, as is Josh Klinghoffer's. This is reflected in each album. It isn't fair to draw comparison between Josh and John, they are two different people with their own style and each brings something unique to the table. I think people are placing too much emphasis on the fact that John isn't there. If you didn't know John had left you'd be forgiven for thinking it was him but with a more mellow style of play. I congratulate Josh for making such a smooth transition into the group, he seems to have fit in well on record, I am looking forward to seeing his rapport on stage live with the rest of the band when they tour. This record is definitely more mainstream and has a clear pop influence throughout. I would credit Ethiopia and Goodbye Hooray with being more funk orientated. Still Anthony's vocals are so versatile he works both genres well even though lyrically he seems to have mellowed and perhaps dulled abit of his shine. (I refuse to say 'lost his touch', I don't think that can be truly determined until the next album. And Anthony is too resilient and creative of a man to ever lose his mojo for long). Still this album has alot of potential, definitely need to listen to a few records on repeat for them to grow on you - but that unmistakeable RHCP vibe is evident in most tracks. I'm a one eyed fan so it's hard for me to be critical of them, the record would need to be horrible for me to admit it. I would say to anyone who is on the fence with this one to listen to it on repeat for a day, stop listening for about a week and then listen to it again after that and see how you feel. You can always tell how good an album is by how much you miss listening to its tracks. I will personally though be purchasing this one. I also hope they tour Australia soon, been dying to see them after missing out on their 2007 Stadium Arcadium tour. Fingers and toes crossed!! <3

- R.I.P Chili Peppers

I'm so disappointed. I was ready for RHCP to reveal an amazing album, overflowing with sincere, creative and inspirational music… R.I.P Chili Peppers, first you lost Frusciante and now you've lost your old-school appeal.

- Absolutely terrible

this was so bad i stopped listening after 4 tracks and i have never done that before

- Meh

Needs john, nuff said

- Meh :(

I'm afraid to say it, But i think they may have lost their touch… i doubt the album will have many hits. It sounds like One hot minute and By the way mixed together? They really need john back it's just not the same without him.

- Mmm

Interesting. I think this album could have been a lot better than it is, but in saying that it is still very good. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. A bit of their older style wouldn't go astray but still good album and no mistaking this is the chili peppers distinctive style.

- Cead in the water

their last solo album was bad enough, this one takes the cake. I'm sorry, I use to like these guys back in the 90s but they have gone the way of most aging groups.

- Red hot!

To put it simply this album is amazing, love every track brendans death song is by far a stand out!

- Surprisingly Good

An early opinion, but this album is the real deal. I'm a long time RHCP fan (since the 80's). I'm also a big John fan and was unsure about this record, but Josh has done an excellent job to slip right in and add his own touch (in a positive manner). I was losing hope that the Chilis had it in them to do another great album as Stadium was pretty self-indulgent. This one has great melodies that are performed well by Anthony and it explores some musical boundaries that the band has tried to reach before but failed. By The Way comes to mind in this vain. The songs are the focus here and I'm sure Rick Rubin has had a fairly big hand in making sure that they were the focus. There's plenty of funk, plenty of heartfelt pop and as usual fantastic playing. The band's days of killer riffs and groundbreaking parts are gone (Blood Sugar era) but this record has to be in the top 3 that RHCP has created. A surprisingly fulfilling listen.

- Great!!!

Best album since Californication. Great sound and vibe throughout. Band is sounding as tight and fresh as ever and new guitarist has some serious talent! And thats right, there is no John, he left again,so get over it. Awesome album!

- Why the overreactions???!

I do not understand why people are paying out on the Chilis for this album. While I admit it is a bit of a change from their funk based stuff, bands change their sound, a band called The Beatles tried some other things and they turned out ok last time I checked. There are some absolute gems on this album, with Factory of Faith standing out cause of that sick bass line. And also Brendan's Death Song being one of the most emotionally charged Chilis songs of all time, with Chad's drumming at the end mind blowingly awesome. Don't jump on or off the bandwagon just because of an album or two; if you really love a band, you support everything they do. Josh is a great fit to the band, and while John is impossible to replace, Josh does a great job, but I do agree that he could use some more volume. Anthony's singing gets better every album, flea and Chad are at their best. Seems to me like an excellent RHCP album!

- Perfection in song!

Music does not get more beautiful than this! RHCP have done it again.. Thank you & welcome aboard Josh!

- Awesome

Good to hear they still are going strong. I'm sure this album will be just like there others with plenty of songs in the charts. Thanks RHCP.

- Great stuff

Great album and chemistry between the band again. Very upbeat. l must say this album makes me feel like a little kid again. Listened to it 3 times in a row and love it. To all those fans that don't like Josh that's your opinion and that's fair but maybe you would like the music better if you could grow with the peppers instead of wanting the same out of them. 10 out of 10.

- I'm with you

Plenty of good songs but,Goodbye Hooray,is the standout track.

- John

Its all there apart from john, please come back. We all know about the album one hot minute and what that sounded like without john.

- 'sigh'

Every song sounds really simillar. I miss their variety and individual expression. chad and flea are world class musicians and they might be showing it but im so bored listening to it i will never notice. I thought the boys lacked power in stadium arcadium but this is sort of tragic. Its clear they don't even enjoy playing anything funky or rock anymore. what a shame :'(

- Lost the spark?

I like it but it dosen't have the same spark as their other albums. Something is missing. Still, a great album.

- Only one good song :-(

Raindance Maggie is definitely one of their best, but the rest of the album isn't very good. They've gone back to their very early days of punk/funk which i don't really like. Still love RHCP though.

- ...

Worst chili peppers album ever.

- Good

Did people really expect the album to sound like classic chili's without John? Good on them for going in a new direction, I really like this album, Josh does good work and I'm hoping that he will evolve and grow in the role in future albums. Goodbye hooray, look around and even you Brutus are my favorites. obviously not their best album but the start of something fresh

- Well we now know what

It means rediculously loud sound with massive clipping and no dynamics. And I'm only listneing to the previews. The Loudness War is still at large. This has nothing to do with the qualtiy of the music however. It could be a good album, I haven't heard it.

- This is Rock!!

Despite all the haters out there, I really like this album. Even with a new guitarist, this is RHCP, and its one of the better Rock Albums out there this year!! I like the new fresh, direction of RHCP!!! If you dont like it, you're obviously a Justin Beiber fan!!

- Please come back John!

I hope not to receive too much flack for writing this, as it seems all the reviews so far are very positive... Seems to me that Josh is a 'reactive' guitar player rather than a creative one like John. No dis-respect to Josh or the rest of the Peppers, but it seemed that Frusciante was the core of the peppers, his influence on the songs are missing greatly in this CD. Josh is creative but too much in a 'micro' kind of way. Anthony's voice is better then ever but his creativity in singing the lyrics has lessoned - perhaps this is because John's input is missing. Another feature that is missing is background vocals - again John's input! I used to be so into the Peppers - but this CD is embarrassing. I wish they had given up after John left.

- A Step up

Great new sound from the peppers. Josh has brought a smooth sound to this album, backed up with great vocals (Best in 'Did I Let You Know') Once again a killer album. *****

- Refreshing change but still classic RHCP

What a different album! Each day a new song becomes a favorite and gets stuck in my head. Everyone stepped up their game with Johns departure and Josh is really different in style. I feel there is no massive single on the album, with a less mainstream sound and choruses that don't immediately hook. Some songs need a couple of listens. In terms of weaknesses I think there is too much repetition in the choruses, and confusing solos from Josh. The rest of his playing is great, and his vocals are very 'Empire of the Sun'. Overall it is a vastly different album, which I welcome. While truly amazing albums, from Californication to By the Way and Stadium the Chilis sound became too defined and set. This is what they need at this point. Give this album a good chance and you will find so much. I do hope John returns at some point ( and he probably will ) but Josh should also stay if that were to happen. Great job, 5 stars.

- something missing

I am a massive fan of the RHCP, they are my favourite band. There are a few good songs on this album but something to me just seems like it's missing. I don't see many hits coming out of this album and I have to say I miss John in the mix.

- 7

Great cd, really happy with it.. Good mix of old school an new school. There couldn't be a better replacement then Josh :D

- Jizztationable

This album takes a combination of all their musical styles and changes over the years and gives you one big eargasm. John was god, Josh is his messiah!!!

- rhcp

different to stadium, more of a african funk vibe to it but an amazing album!!

- No complaints...

There's no doubt its a good album, but it won't be remembered as one of their best

- I'm with you

It's amazing :) luv rhcp its the best guys

- They're back!

You know it's good when you can't stop groovin'! The funk is back!

- ITS GOOD !!!!!

guys that are complaining need to realise that this album was never planned to be like their previous ones, it wasn't meant to be the same, it was meant to be DIFFERENT !!! and saying that they made something truly inspiring. Great album with great funky riffs. ….It Will Be Remembered

- WORTH THE WAIT

a completely new feeling from the chilis and im lovin it! YES john is gone and YES he was a god but do we really want someone in the band who knows his time has come and passed? josh is there because he had something new to offer and a genuine desire to contribute. Welcome josh a well done!

- I'm with you!

Awesome! Different than usual chili"s but fantastic! Was worried after Maggie single, but album is ad good as any of there's! (excluding blood sugar!) but then again that album is the best off all time and every album they make will never be that good! Chilis are back! 8/10

- Love it

On my first play through I was a bit iffy but I have listened to it more and more and now I am completely in love! Well done chili peppers :D

- Dean Smith

I was a bit dubious about this album due to John Fruscantie leaving the band but i need not of worried Klinghoffer more thn holds his own in this album and it is great. Ive seen them live twice and i like to think i am one of there biggest fans followed them for years and have bought and studied all of there albums. Great work once again welcome back RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!

- Musical geniuses

This album is musically incredible! A lot of people that ate writing bad reviews are the ones that are trying to hear johns ghostly echoes and sad as it is to say, he's not coming back! Josh is a very good guitarist and because josh had worked with John in the past he can actually connect with the band. Take the song, " Brendan's death song." it is very well written and musically played, it is about the life and death of there friend brendan who gave them there first gig in an LA night club. The drumming symbolises death and the guitarist and bassist are phenomenol!! Listen to the music people not who should be playing!!!

- Was expecting less!!!

After reading a few early reviews I was expecting a pretty poor album. Instead I got a really good piece of work in the lines of Stadium Arcadium. My previous favourite "Mothers Milk" still leads but this is evolution not creationism.

- Mr bean

5 stars all the way .... Not many bands out there that churn out another great album (in my and most opinion) yes one or two songs may not be as good as others but still a great album. Think of U2's last album = drivel. Goodbye hooray !

- Monarchy of roses

Have to say this a great album every song is good not a classic album I don't believe they have ever released a classic album. Classic songs tho I.e under the bridge saw them live on Sunday and absolutely awesome.RHCP's

- Great Album

Some real growers once you listen a few times.

- Boring

i remember the good old days when the chili peppers were good

- One of their best albums!

This album is great. Some of their best work! We all miss Frusciante but I think Josh has warranted his place in the band.

- Sweet, but not epic like previous albums.

I like the new feel of the album, it works well. That said i cant help but admit i prefer the old stuff, though i thought Josh Kinghoffer sounds great. Brendans Death Song is beautiful and Monarchy Of Roses is a tune, they were the highlights for me.

- Definately a grower!

When I initially listened to the album admittably the only songs that stood out to me were the funky 'monarchy of roses' and the brilliant 'brendans death song.' Being a devoted chilis fan I persevered and listened through a few more times, picking up on 'Did I let you know', 'look around' and 'the adventures of rain dance maggie.' The chilis have done brilliant considering the loss of fruciante (you undoubtebly miss his classic, simple guitar solos.) And for the record to the stadium arcadium haters, there's no doubt that it would have been hailed as one of their best albums had they condensed the best songs into one album. Snow? Especially in Michegan? Wet sand? You can't call yourselves chilis fans if you don't appreciate the genius in these songs.

- Brilliant album

The album is amazing, great songs with a new style on the guitar. Different but nice change. Favorite song is look around. @ smokey matt - the chilis made their best work while on drugs, everything from freaky styley to californication.

- Good album

Stop comparing Josh to John! They are different musicians and they interpret the songs in different ways. What Josh has done here is add layers of texture and emotion to every song, creating a new sound, which is amazing! I think people would have been more pissed off if he'd come in and try to be John with the big riffs and such. The movement of the songs is very exciting, for instance in did I let you know and goodbye hooray

- The Chilli's at there finest!

I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to like the way the band would evolve without John but to be honest any Chilli fan will know that there first album was awesome Freaky Styley. Blackeye blondie is one of my favourite tunes ever and John wasn't even thought of then. Anyway, I'm with you takes some getting use to but after a few listens it becomes Epic! The Chilli's are a very smart band and they have totally realised the nature of the business so they have abated to the man but they maintain they Chilli favour. Awesome Album guys.

- Great!!

This album is definately a grower, as mentioned in another review the first time catchy songs soon become stale, There are plenty of good tracks on here, my favourite at the moment is police station. I've been a fan since their early albums, although I think they were great especially the obvious choice blood sugar, the following were good too but stadium arcadium was by far the best to date!! Ok I miss johns legendary riffs but I think I can live with their current sound and definitely getting into it. Great album well done lads can't wait too see them in November!!

- This album is really poor, one star ! Really Disappointed !

I wonder if the Chili Pepers have had a lapse back onto hard drugs. Hard drugs ruin your creativity & these tracks are so poor that they are rubbish. The last three albums with John Frusciante were really good, excellent actually, I think the Best album of the last 3 was 'By The Way' although they were all very good. I am so disappointed ! I have waited for a new album since the last one, its such a shame ! What has happened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

- Great Album!

May not be their best, but it's still great, don't know what all the negative comments are about

- Should not have doubted them.

I must admit I was not sure about the Red Hot Chilli Peppers would sound after John Frusciante leaving but the answer to my ears is great. It seems the others have raised there game with some great songs, mainly driven by Flea's intricate bass work and Chad's increasingly complex drumming. The new member Josh Klinghoffer plays in a similar style to Frusciante (he actually featured on his last solo album) but brings his own energy and creativity as well as providing backing vocals to Andrews vocals. This album gets better the more times I hear it with stand out tracks Monarchy of Roses, Look Around, Goodby Hooray and the heart felt Brendan's Death Song. More molodic than there earlier albums but still with a sense of fun a polished effort from a band growing up but not neccesarily maturing!

- scum

so dissapointed. the rhcp were such a unique and quintessential band, and now they are utter scum. I cannot believe they have wasted their time on this steaming pile of horse poo. Inform them they need to hang themselves immediately. They have committed social suicide by making this album. I am meeting them backstage and will be sure to spit in their faces, and tell them that they have ruined my life. I would quite happily watch them get run over by a bus.

- lost but not forgotten

there are a lot of unnecesarily harsh reviews here. nonetheless, as a longtime fan i bought the album and am by no means regretting the purchase. those who are willing to accept the departure of john, yet want rhcp to continue slamming out tunes must also be willing to accept a slight change in sounds and creative style. the album doesnt lack creativity, its there, just not in the form of johns hair-raising solos which he brandished right in front of our eyes. honestly. the first listen wasnt easy, as is the way with so many albums, but you give them a chance and they grow on you. the case holds especially true for bands who try to recreate themselves and even more so for those who lose the talent of one of the most iconic lead guitarists of this era. the fact they've even taken the leap to continue astonishes me. i believe they took a leap of faith. and landed on their feet.. chads drumming is so crisp in 'goodbye hooray' its hard to imagine how he hasnt been bagged up and sold in multipacks. fleas rhythm in 'look around' will take you back to that careless, breezy sound of 'by the way' and anthony just continues to do his thing, whatever it is, and hasnt slacked at all with the vocals up to point and some well-delivered fast paced lines too. having listened to the album on/off for a week now there have been some tracks which were on repeat daily, whilst others i heard once on the first listen and didnt bother revisiting.. i can safely say now that i'm happy to play the entire album through. so far my highest rated have been all those listed from 'ethiopia' to 'happiness loves company'. enjoy.

- I love this album!!!

I love the old albums, and I am in love with this one too! Yes, it is a bit different but those chili pepper funky vibes are still there. Embrace the difference, it's a beautiful album

- What are people goin on about

This album isnt the best, however its is a really good album. I dont understand why people say its a deflated chilis its is a very upbeat album, some people also thing that beacuse john has left josh couldnt live up to him well he cant, john frusciance is gone yes he was amasing but we have josh and he isnt trying to replace john he has his own style of playing and he is good. ps this album has alot of bassy songs, so any bassists will have a field day

- Wow

These guys are still the best, another great album, RHCP for life!

- Oh dear

I'm afraid that this new album doesn't do it for me. It sounds like a bad demo. They've lost all their energy. Very disappointing

- An album too far...

Without Frusciante RHCP have resorted back to the dull, funk rock that has seem them fail so many times before, If you put RHCP into a graph you will probably notice a steady decline with occasional movement upwards when Frusciante is let loose, to me this seems like another album where they fail to hide there endevour to provide very little effort and to just get through the industry to make a tidy profit... Having said all that some tracks are above average but not enough to hold back the questions of the longevity of this band...

- Life In The Old Dog Yet!

I was there not at the start but from Freaky onwards, so I find it somewhat amusing to see many of these shortsighted reviews. Yes I largely prefer their earlier stuff, yes Hillel (not John - shock) is my favourite guitarist, and yes I miss those unique covers they used to be famous for (remember Subterranean Homesick Blues or Fire)? But there are things that I don't miss like the world debating if Flea is the best bass player in the world or anything but (most importantly he is the most influential bassist of his generation), the constant radio play of Under The Bridge, and some of AK's pretty limited lyrical inputs. That said they will always be my favourite, the band I grew up with so take this as you see fit. I have been pleasantly surprised by this album especially on the back of it's somewhat bloated predecessor and the fact that JF has left having been - somewhat ironically - their inspirational pen of a popular tune. Who would have thought Flea on a piano? I take my hat off to him and his drive to continually widen his musical landscape. Well done JK. You followed a virtuoso and have brought you own complimentary style. It seems most people have identified the best tunes on here but I have to say Did I Let You Know is great (obviously I am ageing as well!). This for me is a less commercial album than anything since One Hot Minute, and much better as a result. Yes it has it's moments on that front, but it has a better balance. I bought this out of nostalgia in some senses but this has been on constant play on my iPod for a month now which has surpassed all expectations. Well done guys - life in the old dog yet. Any chance of Stone Cold Bush at the O2...... :) Ps. My top 5's Albums 1. Blood Sugar... 2. Freaky... 3. Uplift Mofo... 4. Mother's Milk 5. One Hot Minute (shock horror!) Songs 1. Parallel Universe 2. Sir Psycho... 3. Subterranean Homesick Blues 4. Hollywood 5. Fire

- rhcp

Amazing, i totally love this album :D

- Fan 10 years

As always brilliant album, shame they don't get as much recognition on the charts seemed to get over looked. Always play new vids by other artists but never punk rock.

- Big love for the chili's

Red hot chili peppers always have and do represent psychedelic funk music even still today! I'm With You is just an album that has to grow on you and once you've got it, you're set! loving the new vibes man and loving did i let you know big time, cant wait to see them soon.

- RCHP babyy

Waiting a long time for this and is up their with their best albums! Great stuff!!!

- different but still great

this album is brilliant! ok its quite different to alot of there other stuff but it is a great album in its own right and i am amazed at some people's negative reviews. you can tell alot of effort went in to making this album and it was worth the wait. i have loved the chili's since the start but i would always give my honest apinion. i personally find it a refreshing change from the norm yet it still has the rhcp stamp on it and sounds better everytime i listen to it. for me the weakest song on the album is the single, which is a shame as it will be people's first impression of the album. long live the rhcp!!!

- Of course they've still got it. It's the Chili Peppers.

This might disappoint old school Chili's fans and granted, it's not the jaw-dropping body of work they gave us with Stadium Arcadium, but it's a collection of great tracks by a band who've still got bags of energy and creativity. I miss John's world-class riffs but Josh has won me over with what he brings to some of the tracks vocally. Thanks Chilis :-)

- High expectations not met (edited)

I was reminded of Bon Jovi, Wonderstuff and John Cougar Mellencamp while listening to this. Irrespective of whether you like these artists (and I do in part), the fact I'm comparing RHCP to them isn't good as Red Hot Chili Peppers seem to be losing their distinctive voice. One review says they have matured and, sure, I take the point, though there's maturing and there's losing your edge. Is this the long slippery sloper? I hope not. I saw them on the Jonathon Ross show and there was energy there. It's just the song they sang (Rain Dance Maggie) felt like it held them back. I do like some tracks on here, such as Brendan's Death Song, Annie Wants a Baby, Ethiopia, Goodbye Hooray and Happiness Loves Company. However, these are counter-balanced by the woeful Meet Me At The Corner, Did I Let You Know and the truly bad Dance, Dance, Dance - I honestly never want to hear that last one again, something I never thought I'd say about this band. It won't grow on you. We're still here, guys! We want to listen to the incredible bass line, your brlliant vocals, the cracking percussion and those riffs but we don't want middle of the road stuff that is starting to sound a little like it's being influenced by the crassness of TV music shows and heading for the loung lizard seal of approval. I know you can't go back but you can go forward with one eye on the rearview mirror. [edit] It's been a few days now and I've been listening to it a lot. It's starting to make sense. It is a different feel for RHCP. But one that does grow on you, and it isn't that you're being worn down. It's a difficult album to like at first, especially when you have all your favourites rattling round your head. The good ones are getting better and the ones I felt were poor and coming good. Dance, Dance, Dance is still a bit weird though ...

- IWY there very best!!!

WoW the best album since BTW!! At first I heard it I was like hmmm.. But listening to it like after 3 times!! U be hooked!! So get it!! U will not be disappointed :)

- Awesome

This is what weve been waiting for, cant understand why people are writing bad comments whats not to like! Its fresh fun with tight bass and drums a new guitarist and the all famous kiedis singing at his best, Music Genius!!!!!

- very poor

they should just tour playing the old tunes and stop writing new stuff because most of this spoils their reputation which is sad to see

- I'm with...the chilis

I have to agree with people who say this isn't like the old style chili's. Well done. Obvious. Couple of reasons, one obvious being the new guitarist (awesome by the way) and 2. Theyve matured. Grown up. Stopped the drugs, fighting each other etc. And it shows in the music. More mellow meaningful tracks. This album is ( as a few hav correctly sed) not the best on the first or second listen. But the third n fourth play - it clicks. Amazing album. I didn't like btw or califonication at first. But they grew on me. Yeah the lead single wasn't the best choice, but it worked. All in all, class album. Class songs. Apart from dance, dance, dance. I dnt get that one... Can't wait to hear it live in November!!

- Terrible

This is honestly one of the worst albums I have ever listened to! We waited such a long time and what a huge let down.

- Immensely inspirational.

I was bit sceptical about the loss of one of the best guitarists from my favourite band but Josh really stands his ground. And of course Anthony, Chad and Flea are as incredible, especially how they're in their early 50's it's really incredible to know they can still make music of this standard so many years on. I have no doubt I'll look back on this album in 20 years and feel the same way, long live the RHCP's!!!

- Love it!

It took a few listens but by the time i saw them @O2, i was loving every song. Different but great!

- I'm With You

Brilliant and Josh Klinghoffer has done a great job

- Too epic!!!

I've always loved rhcp and their songs. Hope they keep on going! And to all those who wrote bad reviews, if you don't like rhcp then don't review...

- Sell out!!!

Was so looking forward to this album yet feel so deflated by it. Having flicked through the reviews it is only the most loyal fans that rate this above three stars because it simply does bit cut the mustard! My only hope is that it isn't the start of a downward spiral!

- I'm with you

At first it did not quite hit the spot but after several listens I'm hooked. No skipping tracks on this one either! Nice one boys!!

- DULL!

Where's the energy gone? Sounds like they want to become a lounge act. Very disappointed, not happy as a life long fan.

- Great album

can understand why some people may not like it as it is a bit different to there older stuff but still really great after a few listens. Can't help but miss the awesome up beat riffs that John played in last album such as readymade, tell me baby an she's only 18 Stand out tracks look around and the single

- An average return from the RHCP

This album is only very average. IMO It seems to be missing direction and creativity that John Frusciante gave since Californication. I do really like Breden's Death Song and Police Station, but for every song I like there is a song I hate. Dance Dance Dance is probably my least favourite.

- Brilliant

if people stopped complaining and saying they hate it and saying they've changed .. well duhhh obviously they've changed othere wise every song would sound the same for 20 years straight .... I think its defiantly worth it to buy this album !

- Rhcp

Absolutely amazing, ain't nobody like rhcp!! I love you guys!!

- It's a grower

I feared the worst when John left the band and expected the band to split. Thankfully they didn't and have made yet another great album. The songs grow on you and it hasn't been off my stereo. Buy it you'll love it .

- Best album I've bought in years

A lot of these reviews seem to be "I'm a bigger fan than you because....." or "you can't call yourself a fan if....." What are you trying to review? The album or each other!? At the end of the day it's a brilliant album that takes a couple of listens to get used to, as do most albums! If Josh had tried to copy John it would be awful but he hasn't, he has replaced John and replaced him well! I was sceptical at first due to johns absence but I'm glad I was proven wrong. It's the first album I've bought by any band in years which I can listen to from start to finish without skipping past certain tracks!!!
