UPDATE: I initially gave this album three stars, but now that I own the album and listened to it hundreds of times; once again, Jason Mraz did it! I love the whole album. I love J Mraz! but it seems like every once in between many albums he creates, he just goes off and makes a whatever album like this time around. Last album was soooooooooooooooooooo incredibly amazing (like a religious spiritual experience) that this album does fall flat. Maybe I am wrong and the songs might grow on me if I do listen to them over time. I like I won't give up, but that's about it. I'll just wait for his next big thing. Still love you Jason!!!!!! you are the BEST OF THE BEST!!!

I love his music. It is calming and relaxing and always has something relevant to my life at the time. The current one would be "Living In the Moment". I absolutely love his writing style which is a lot like Jack Johnson's, just without the surfer vibe.

I agree when a lot of people say that the album is different. It's true, the sound is new for Mraz. But he did state that it was going to be different and that the album was going to be about what the title says, LOVE. Simply knowing that I knew that every song would have a love tale or genre to it. I'm not mad about that, nor am I upset. The album is different, but it really shows how well versed an artist can be when he/she takes a new style to his music and still sounds great and down to his roots. To me, Mraz has helped me through a lot of my own personal problems and quarrels. This album just tops it off. He sings with clarity and with such emotion that you rarely see or hear these days. He's also spectacular live. Saw him once, I'd definitely do that again. Keep singing!

Umm... watch storytellers.. he explains everything and how we came across writing "I won't give up". He may be changing, but he's older. Of course he's going to change his sound and look. He's still JASON MRAZ. Not just some guy that wrote "I'm yours". He's great, inspirational, and pure. So you have to listen to all his music to even judge.

Buy this album even if you've never heard of Jason before. He's amazing.

I'm gonna play this at my wedding;)

I own all his music since his first days playing at the coffee houses. I will always stand by him. But this is one album I won't add to my collection. I respect whatever musical journey he is currently on. However, this album sounds like smooth jazz or elevator music to my ears and I am feeling somewhat abandoned by the Jason that I knew and loved. Now that Mraz is mainstream, I can only hope that he'll bring back the magic of his earlier music. For example, acoustic and crafty works such as Plane, Did I Fool Ya, Unfold. I know the old fans will appreciate it, and I imagine that the newer fan base would dig it too!

This album is amazing every song on the album is great Jason Mraz needs to get at least two Grammys for this album.

So, I see all the reviews on here saying that this album was a let down from the Mraz we all know. But, as for me, I see it as a big step in not just his life, but ours too. He describes love in a way some people never really get a chance to experience. These songs reflect true love, beauty, and musicianship. You're allowed to have your own opinion, and I can have mine. This album really inspired me to be more honest with what I feel and to just be free and love. By the way, this man is AMAZING in concert. I'm so glad I got to experience the love and happiness practically radiating from him and even the audience. Just listen to the words and backround music; It might change your mind. ♥

Sometimes boring but a lot of talent ;)

i have all the respect in the world for Jason. All of it. And trust me, i understand he is a growing artist in a growing world. And that everyone changes the sound of their music throughout their career. But this album was just a bit on the... disappointing side. A little too mainstream. I didn't feel the meaningful lyrics speak to me in most of the songs, unlike any other album he's put out. The only ones that spoke to me were probably "93 million miles" "i won't give up" "i never knew you" and "the world as i see it" any other one on here, i could take or leave. But i think this album will grow on me. He is my favorite artist, after all. Can't wait to see if this is the path he really want's to take :)

I think this is a great album. While my preference is for his older hits, he definitely has more than a few gems with Love is a Four Letter Word. He is still every bit the lyrical genius we all fell in love with. And speaking of love, Jason was bitten hard by the love bug. And it shows. And it is beautiful. "The Woman I Love" has quickly become the song I love! "Living in the Moment" has become the one-hit wonder song to the soundtrack of my life. And I was literally dancing around my living room to "Everything is Sound." While there are other great and enjoyable songs, I feel there are a few that try to do too much. I like the simpler-sounding songs with the deeper meaning. (we got a hint of that with "Frank D Fixer," and i did love the way he vocally sent the note spinning when he sang "farm" in the "what happened to the family farm" line.) That is what I was wanting more of on this album. Still, I love Jason Mraz, and his talent continues to shine bright!

I went to see his show in San Diego!!! All I have to say is... That was the best concert I have ever been to in my life. All his music is wonderful and full of energy and perseverance, he is amazing u need to buy the album

I don't know how you can like this crap!

Some people are saying that they dont like the "new mraz". I think it's just a funny coincidence that the lyrics of "I won't give up" (aka best song in the world =) say "even the stars they burn" Maybe he's saying that he's trying something new and if he crashes and burns, well he's not much different from you. Idk. Maybe I'm just being too philosophical, but it's pretty coincidental. I actually LOVE "I won't give up". It is such a beautiful song. 'nuff said. :) Anyways, thanks for reading this ridiculously long comment. And hopefully I didn't waist your time. :))

If you've been a fan of Mraz for years (not just since "I'm Yours" or "Lucky"), you're gonna be disappointed. Artists evolve and this just is where he is in his life and art. I get it... But not really. Of this where he is, then he's lost himself. After listening to this album, I literally felt sad that I've lost one of my favorite and most original songwriters. Someone else mentioned when his personality took a turn for douchey, so did his music. I couldn't agree more. This album just feels like easy listening radio play crap. That's not the Mraz I followed and loved. And bring back Toca, for the love of God. Hopefully this is just a hiccup. A career mid-life crisis, perhaps? I look forward to his future endeavors.

It makes me cry. An amazing love song

This is a great song, this is a great album! We need more artist like this in the world. But this is absolutely not pop! This is too good for pop!!

I read a lot of the review that thought his past music was better but I have to disagree. I love all of his music but when I listen to his older albums I can sense that he is younger and not as grounded in his musical talent as he is now. I love this album because I can sense his growth as a person and his music gives me an insight into his world. His music moves me and not disappointed at all.

Jason Mraz never disappoints. This record will make you smile. I have heard Jason refered to as a, "Tree Hugging Hippie," and quite honestly, he is. And I love it. The first single, "I Won't Give Up," is a beautiful, hopeful love song that caught me right away. Other standout tracks include, "The Woman I Love," "93 Million Miles," "Everything is Sound," and, "The World as I See It". My favorite on the record is, "Frank D. Fixer," a song in which Mraz sings of his grandfather, whom he refers to as Frank D. Fixer. This song reminds me of myself in a way because I always want to help people, and that relatability really wins me over. "Oh I wish I was a Fixer, I would fix you up inside. I would build you a town, if the world fell down. Oh, I wish I was that guy." I think it's something we can all relate to. The other track worth examining is actually the hidden track. It is short and simple, and again, makes me smile. It is just a sweet little tune. Definitely buy this record, 5 out of 5.

i think this album was great! every song is different, you don't know if its a love/sappy song or if its a upbeat song with lots of rhythm. jason mraz is a very talented guy, love his music, and i wish there was more like it today. i saw him in concert today and it was probably the best concert I've been too, he sounds just as good when you hear him through speakers, his voice is so .. uplifting. i loved everything, from the made up lyrics he made to have "tampa bay" in his songs, to his little side jokes, this album was great. jason mraz is amazing.

This is one of the worst albums I've ever heard of any type. From Regina Spektor to Nicki Minaj to lil Wayne to Trisha Yearwood I love all kinds of music. BUT this is like an experiment gone wrong. It is certainly not music, it's like someone gave a teenager a studio and a mic and let them release an album. Jason releases one "retail" track to get radio play and then fills an album with weird; I'm assuming drug induced, babble. A complete waste of money.

I am new to this artist having heard I Won't Give Up on the radio for the first time I liked it immediately and downloaded it. The next day I downloaded the whole CD. It's FANTASTIC! It's feel good, it's romantic, it's inspirational and it's fun. I LOVE IT!!!

Don't get me wrong, he sounds alright. He's not really unique though. There's recently been a surge of singer-songwriters, the only two of which I fully appreciate are Ed and Emeli. But maybe Mraz will grow on me.

Discovered Mr Mraz recently and find that the man has the same kind of talent as an English Songstress who can make you relate to the tune playing. Very happy with album and apart from "I won't give up" another beautiful song of note is; "Who's thinking about you know?" Top Album and can't wait to see him live.

Ok, so I love Jason Mraz. For me, the most under-rated singer-songwriter in the business, he writes sublime songs of happiness and positivity. What a voice - try singing along and you'll soon get stuck following his effortless licks. His live tracks are even better than the studio recordings - which are amazing. If you've only ever heard 'I'm Yours', give the rest of his work a try - I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
