- Just amazing

What a great album! It's incredibly difficult to fathom someone with this much talent and ability who can continuously come up with music like this. Just amazing!

- About Bear Creek?

Listen again.

- Love

Everything she sings is gorgeous. I hope to see Brandi and Patty Griffin or Brandi and Emmylou Harris or Brandi and Lucinda Williams... Any of these combos would be magical!!

- Bear Creek

Brandi Carlie Amazing

- my medicine

brandi carlile is a part of everyday for me. GO BUY EVERYTHING SHE'S EVER RELEASED!!!!! You wont be dissapointed!!!!!

- the year of the bear

Whether unconsciously or by design, Bear Creek is the best country album you are likely to hear this year. Largely self-produced this, their 5th album, is Brandi, Tim and Phil at their truest and most vulnerable, both personally and musically. With Brandi's great big voice leading the charge and more heart and soul than you can stand, the result is an album that has set the bar for what modern country can only hope to one day sound like. A little country, a little soul, a little rock & roll, Bear Creek is Brandi Carlile in her stride, at her ever evolving best; it is, in a word, beautiful.

- bear creek

another amazingly crafted album.

- incredible...again, of course

buy this album. don't think. just click "buy." don't look back. another amazing musical collection from one of the most under-appreciated musicians today. this is music.

- Incredible singer

I discovered her earlier through a Patagonia album. She is amazing. Clean, perfect, melodic vocals with a good bluesy/country undernote. You won't be disappointed! Have fun!

- Cream to my ears!

Started to only download 4 songs from this cd but took more time to listen to all the songs and discovered the entire cd is incredible so downloaded it all. Brandi and her band have a sound all their own, their harmony and use of a variety of stings are refreshing; her voice has so many layers and always sounds sweet and intriguing. Have loved all her cd's and will continue to buy her music!

- Hmmm...

This ones different for me :/ I love Brandi's lyrics ... And they are the shining backbone of 'Bear Creek'... The musical style though isn't my favorite from her ... She's definitely gone a little too folksy for my taste. I prefer 'The Story' and 'Give Up the Ghost' a little more to this one ... Still an incredible album though from a terrific artist ...

- Outstanding!

Brandi is definitely evolving with Bear Creek. While some of it is recognizably her, other parts are uncharted territory. I can tell she's pushing and not resting on her laurels. It's nice to enjoy an album from start to finish again! Only way to top listening to a Brandi album is to see her live. She's an amazing performer and actually sounds better live (yes, it's possible!)!!

- Indi-credible!

The "Story" continues and it gets better and better each time. Love the diversity and depth of lyrics. Listening to "Just Kids" makes you wanna have a camp fire and surround yourself with your family and best friends. Discovered this young lady when Grey's featured her music - have been a follower since then. A great addition to your collection of her music… as the last track fades, it leaves you wanting to hear more.

- Don't miss out on Brandi's gift!

Brandi has been a favorite of mine since I saw her open for Ray LaMontagne! I was also lucky enough to hear her on a local alternative radio station. This album is another gem...if you haven't had an opportunity yet, check out her earlier work too! Kudos to her and her band for another success!

- Amazing!

On first listen there are songs that I have connected with (100, Hard Way Home) but what is most interesting to me is there is so much substance to the lyrics that I believe in time I will return to the album and find new layers to songs I had not connected with before. As I grow the record will grow. I think this is what makes an album stand the test of time and I think "Bear Creek" will!

- Just. So. Good.

I've had this album for 48 hours and I've listened to it all the way through 8 times. There's so much to love here. So rich, so layered, so familiar, and yet so new. Brandi fans and newbies won't be disappointed.

- Disappointed with my favorite contemporary singer

I absolutely love Brandi Carlile and have seen her live 2 times. I listen to her every day in the car, and have done so for 3 years straight. However, I don't like this album. There is one song I do like, "Save part of yourself for me." The whole second half of the album pretty much sounds like the same song. The album is about Bear Creek, and so it has turned out that the one theme is in every song. It doesn't really seem unique or written for a real reason, less emotion than previous. I love every song of every other album, but not this one. I'm completely disappointed in my favorite contemporary singer.

- Beautiful Songbird

No matter where you fall in your discovery of her music, you will become a faithful follower. Her lyrics find a way into your soul and make a home there. You want to share her with the world but keep her all to yourself all at the same time. Brandi is treasure but she is also as real as they come. If you have a heart, she will grab it and hug it. Listen.

- I've been waiting so long for this!

I've been following Brandi since her big stage debut at Bumbershoot in Seattle many years ago and her weekly free performances on Queen Anne Hill. I love her music, her haunting voice, the family dynamic of the band & watching them evolve over the years. The only thing better than a Brandi album is seeing them perform live. If you get the opportunity, don't miss it. It'll change your life and make you a lifelong fan.

- She just gets better

This girl just rocks my world every time! So proud to see how far she's come since her first visit to my hometown playing a little bar. She had me then, she's got me now and she keeps getting better! Congratulations Brandi, Phil, Tim, Josh & friends!

- Nothing short of AMAZING!!

Brandi and the twins have done it again!! This album, and all the others are unbelievably amazing! I can listen to her all day and never tire! I've seen her in concert 3 times, and will go again and again and again whenever she is within driving distance!!

- Brandi Carlile & Bear Creek

Loved it. I pre-ordered it here on iTunes and on her website. There's something about her voice that gets you hooked. She's so amazing. I'm proud to say I own all of her records. So beautiful and talented.

- Another awesome album!!

Another awesome album!!! Been waiting to hear this album and I love it!! It was worth the wait!! :)

- Very Strong But

Overall, the album is very good. In all honesty though, it's taking me a lot longer to get into this album vs her past offerings. For one, her 'sound' as it evolves sometimes teeters on sounding less like her and more like other artists - strange as that may sound. "That Wasn't Me" perhaps is the most egregious as I am left wondering if I just listened to a Brandi song or Bonnie Raitt (given your penchant for music that could be either a good thing or not). She does a lot of genre jumping here too - from the early 60's sounding "Heart's Content" to the country ditty "Keep Your Heart Young" - it's all rather fantastic but I yearn for a distinct and consistent sound from her.

- Bear Creek!!

Another Great Album!!! Brandi, and the twin's, Never fail to deliever meaningful, heartfelt song's, that speak to the human soul. I Love IT!!!

- Her best yet, one of the finest albums of the year!

Brandi Carlile is that rare artist that continues to get better and better with each album, and "Bear Creek" is her best yet. Her singing has never been more confident, or more nuanced. She effortlessly glides from the powerful swagger and bluster of "Raise Hell" and "Hard Way Home" to the gentle swoon of "100" and "Save Part of Yourself for Me." As usual, she's aided and abetted by the powerhouse musicianship and vocals of Tim and Phil Hanseroth, who wrote or co-wrote many of the songs here. Album closer "Just Kids" is a real departure for BC and the group, an atmospheric piece of dream pop that sounds unlike anything she's ever performed. "Bear Creek" is not only a pinnacle piece of work for Brandi Carlile, but also will stand as one of the finest albums of the year by any artist, in any genre. Well done!

- Great Album

I have been looking forward to this album for a long time and i'm definitely not disappointed. Brandi's voice along with Tim and Phil is so perfect. After listening to the album one time through I have already found multiple songs I'm able to relate to. I'm excited to continue exploring each song! If you haven't checked out their other albums i would definitely recommend them. They are all amazing.

- Don't miss this one!

Instant favorite!

- Miss Brandi

She is the most incredible artist EVER. See her live, as many times as you can. She will blow your mind. I become a little bit of a lesbian every time I hear her and see her. She is truly talented beyond belief. She can make you smile and cry all at the same time.

- Bear Creek

Brandi Carlile is one of the best new artist. She proves again with Bear Creek that her sound is here to stay. It's so nice to hear quality in an age of mindless pop.

- Stunning!

Another exceptional album from a truly gifted artist!

- Great Album by a Great Singer-Songwriter

Brandi and the twins score yet another great album. Raise Hell and That Wasn't Me show the breadth of this great singer and her band

- Haunting

This album is hauntingly beautiful. It is a huge step for Brandi and the twins. I can't stop listening. The lyrics are especially impressive. It's nice to hear such a true artist behind the powerhouse voice. Well done!

- I don't know what it is...

But I love her music. Her Creep cover is unbelievably good!

- Possible Album Year

Yes it is that good-every song and her voice is at it's best!! The sound quality should merit an award too!! U gotta love the twins guitar work and the best album for mixing in the cello at the right places. Sure hope they come to Idaho again, but as a lead act. She stole the show from Cheryl Crow and Ray LaMontayne and Jewel. My 62 years of buying music is calling this a masterpiece!!!

- Magic

This woman is magic, this album is magic, and there's no talking to me about it. Immediately on my short list for Album of the Year. Vibrant, intensely passionate, and entirely human. Brandi Carlile is one of the best singer/songwriters in the business - and her producer should be lauded for bringing us Brandi's best album ever.

- Beautiful!

Listening to Brandi and The Twins is like floating in water on a hot summer day--nirvana!

- Dessert for your ears!

Brandi, Brandi, Brandi..... You are simply amazing. Your lyrics are thought provoking, heartfelt, fun, and soulful. Your voice is like no other... pure perfection! Put those hands together and you get a powerful album. This album accurately captures your "live" voice better than any other I've heard, which all of us Brandi fans know will knock your socks off!

- Brandi Carlile: Mountaintop Maestro

Musical queen of emotion Brandi Carlile has treated listeners to raw, sentiment-charged folk-rock for nearly a decade. Her fourth major record, however, demonstrates impressive personal and artistic maturation. While the grizzlier half of the album title might suggest otherwise, Bear Creek effortlessly washes over listeners with all the rustic comfort of a secluded mountain brook. With its tightly-knit Hanseroth twin harmonies, effervescent string selections and cozy fingerpicking, the album exudes genuine warmth that past releases often kept buried beneath commendably honest—though frequently blue—introspection. Carlile’s distinctive heartbreak still cuts through the rosiness on a few tracks: swift guitar-plucking and convincing melancholy drive the mournful “100” along, while “A Promise to Keep” finds the songwriter lamenting a lost lover amidst a tenderly-spun acoustic backdrop. Bear Creek’s sorrow, however, is less heart-hollowing than previous Carlile outings (see “That Year,” “Fall Apart Again,” and “My Song”), with many of its downswings carrying silver lining in the form of emotional reconciliation or lighter arrangements. Bear Creek’s intrinsic flame also dances and shifts with the song listing. Carlile commands a wildfire on the blazingly defiant “Raise Hell,” a gritty rebel of a tune that accentuates refrains with fierce vocal whip-cracks, while the comparatively subdued charms of “Heart’s Content” temper the spark back towards something resembling graceful candlelight. “Hard Way Home,” the album’s kickoff number, arguably encapsulates the spirit of the record best. The track—a contemporary folk gem adorned with tremendously catchy campfire claps and a refreshing platter of Carlile life philosophy—houses a refined acceptance, an optimistic resolve, and a whole lot of fun. While lyrical themes naturally fluctuate over the course of the album, this undeniably playful undertone transcends the entire package. Every song subtly conveys a sense that the band thoroughly enjoys performing each second of these tracks, and the good spirits are contagious. The musical breadth exhibited here also merits a compliment, as Bear Creek contains the broadest swath of instrumental stylings Brandi Carlile and her crew have ever undertaken. The trio singes the curtains marking genre boundaries by mixing rock (“100”), country (“Keep Your Heart Young”) and gospel (“That Wasn’t Me”) in with her traditional folk. Every single step may not fall perfectly in line with the rest—the gospel tint of “That Wasn’t Me” actually clouds Carlile’s trademark emphatic vocals in places and leaves the track’s chorus relatively flat—but the general results from this experimentation are overwhelmingly successful. The dazzling, elegant closer, “Just Kids,” musically distinguishes itself from all prior work; its inclusion here reminds listeners that an artist as generative and thoughtful as Carlile always has more to offer. With Bear Creek’s consistently satisfying blend of style and substance, Brandi Carlile and friends can count on listeners eagerly awaiting that next offering.

- Bear creek Brandi rocks

As always never disappointed what a great addition to my collection.

- Brandi Carlisle-Bear Creek

This is the artist and her group that hands down gave the best performace that I have ever experienced. I hope she has time in her schedule to play in Western New York again! This album is collection of superbly written and performed songs. I have 3 daughters that have experienced Brandi with me, Cindy who is 28 alerted me to the new album when I told her Brandi is on the Tonite Show this evening. Can't wait to see her!

- Masterpiece

Incredible album. Different from her others, but every bit as good, possibly better. This is truly a masterpiece work of art. Perfection.

- never disappoints! :)

Brandi always takes my breath away. Every time, every song. She always touches my heart. Not only does her voice touch my heart, but the twins! Talk about talent! They keep getting better and better! I wish Brandi and the twins complete success on this album. (We need to talk to someone about getting her on the Grammy's!) ;) This album is beyond words.

- YES!

Went to the cd release concert for this at Easy Street Records in Seattle. She is just THAT good. It was the biggest in store performance the record store has ever had...and they have A LOT. Great album.

- The best

Thanks for another great album!

- very different

Haven't had a chance to really listen more than once or so, but I do notice that the albums change quite a bit in terms of texture and style- in Bear Creek, this is especially the case. A bunch of different styles in this one. I noticed a tendency to repeat themes of being on the road, being alone, etc on previous albums (don't get me wrong I am not tired of it), but it is good to know that Brandi and the gang make a conscious effort to explore new ground while maintaining their own sound. I can always tell what's important to Brandi and the group by the songs they play, and I think that is missing from a lot of more popular groups. So happy to hear the new stuff, and as always, I feel like they are merely giving me more cocaine only to go away for two years as if it was enough to sustain me. My only complaint is there never seems to be enough.

- Another great album

Every song is amazing, and Hard Way Home is my favorite. Love Brandi.

- Brandi does it again

As a huge Brandi Carlile fan, I am always excited for her new releases. Bear Creek is one of her best yet...after several listens, I am counting down the days until I see her perform these songs live. I am very fond of "In The Morrow" and "Hearts Content", and can see myself listening to "100" over and over. If your new to Brandi's music, this is a great place to start!

- It's heartfelt, funny, with a little darkness thrown in for good measure

Brandi's music is varied. She's not an artist who deals in one style of music. Since I listen to many kinds of music, that's one of my favorite aspects of her (and the twins) style. You go from low key gut wrenching ballads to foot stomping down home rock and roll. The song writing is solid, the vocals are amazing, the tracks as a whole are some of Brandi's best work. I sincerely hope this is the release that gets her a huge chart topping song. I have a feeling it will be.

- Might be her best yet...

Still trying to get my mind around this album because it's different from its predecessors....but it does such a good job of capturing the actual concert experience of her voice, and her songwriting (and the Twins' songwriting) has really improved. This is an honest album about growing up and moving on. And Brandi's voice has never been better! I just love this!
