Metallica - Creeping Death

Creeping Death by Metallica Song Info

"Creeping Death" is the seventh song off of Metallica's 1984 album "Ride the Lightning". Written from the perspective of the Angel of Death, it describes the Plague of the Firstborn (Exodus 12:29). It stands as a classic example of the band's thrash style, albeit slower than the material on their first album, Kill 'Em All. The song's middle section, based around ominous chants of "Die!" set to a phrygian-mode chord progression, is a fan participation staple during Metallica shows. It was released as a single in 1984 on the Music for Nations label in the UK and France. The song was inspired by bassist Cliff Burton while the band was watching The Ten Commandments film.

- Old school thrash!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

One of the best of the genre! My favorites include, Ride the Lightning, For whom the bell tolls, Fade to Black, and Creeping Death. Definitely worth the 9.99!!

- Best Album Ever

What more can I say? My favorite album from my favorite band. If you don't have it, buy it.

- THE BEST

This is undoubtedly the best Metallica album of all time. Every single song on this album is absolutely fantastic. Not only that, this is a very overlooked album

- Fade to Lightning

Even though "Kill Em' All", "Master of Puppets", "...And Justice For All", and "Metallica", were all good albums, "Ride The Lightning" is by far my favorite. Every song in this album, was a good masterpiece, even some of the weak songs in this album. Metallica's greatest album kicks off with a great melodic intro which leads into the speeding riffs of "Fight Fire with Fire". After a few minutes of that, "Ride The Lightning" shows their anger very well (With a side of Mustaine) and proves that Metallica is by far the best Thrash Metal band there is. Sadly, Metallica can't play those angry riffs forever, and they'll have to slow down a bit for the next couple songs. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" shows that they are still good even though they aren't playing fast riffs, and "Fade to Black", a song that made me like ballads, will remind you that Metallica doesn't play just heavy metal, but some softer ballads as well. It was also known as the best song in this album, as well as my favorite. So right when you think that the rest of this album will also be great, the next two songs, "Trapped Under Ice", and "Escape", are actually not that good compared to the other six, and are probably the weakest songs in this album. They are also underrated. I guess the reason why these songs aren't so good, is because they were the ONLY two songs in the album, where Cliff Burton wasn't INVOLVED in writing the song. I do admit the first half of "Escape" was great, but after the second chorus, the song continually goes downhill. If you thought "Creeping Death" was also going to be horrible, then you've got another thing coming (This is not Judas Priest. This is Metallica). "Creeping Death" was actually an improvement over the last two songs, and did have something to do with Cliff Burton writing the song, but it was not the best song in the album. The album finishes strong with "The Call of Ktulu", probably the best closing track by Metallica. The final eight minutes of the album brings back the melodic ballad feel of "Fade to Black" in the beginning and near end, and also has the heaviness of "For Whom The Bell Tolls", and is an Instrumental so even a FIVE year old can listen to this. In the end, "Ride The Lightning" was by far the best album by Metallica, and no other band may compete with this, and it has the best song selection (unlike "...And Justice For All").

- Umm

How on earth do u not like this album

- One of their Best

Been a huge fan since their first album in the 80's. This is by far a must have album if you are a true fan. Easily one of the best albums they ever produced!

- Great from track 1-8...

I originally got this album when I was only 7 years old. I'm 35 now. Still rock out to it. This is a very close second to Puppets.

- This is more like it!

Amazing remaster and you don't have to pay $80! Yay!

- Ugh

Dude the songs SAY purchased, but I can't pay them on my phone otherwise yeah this album is amazing

- Best of Metallica

Unbelievable. Polished thrash!

- Happy 33rd anniversary!

So today, 33 years ago, this masterpiece was released into the public. Since then we have been headbanging for however long we liked, not just to this album, but to most of the band's discography. This album was my first metal album and remains my favorite metal album of all time. It proves you only need 8 songs to have a good album and a good time. I personally think the album has aged well and will continue to do so in the thrash metal scene. Here's to plenty more years of thrash metal awesomeness! 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻

- My first metal album...

Now hear I am over 500 later and THIS is the soul reason for that. Absolutely classic. This is back when they didn't care about the money and really put their hearts and souls into it.

- Favorite Metallica Album!

I've been listening to Metallica for a long time and I can easily say this is the album I catch myself listening to most often. Truly an amazing album.

- Overrated

Bad vocals, poor song writing, I don't understand why it is so popular.

- Best album ever

By far , my favorite Metallica album, if not my favorite album overall .

- The point at which thrash metal became a genre

This album is the point at which thrash metal was distinct from speed metal. Here is my description of the songs: Fight Fire with Fire is a brutal thrasher that describes nuclear warfare. Ride the lightning is a slightly less brutal song about death penalty from the perspective of a falsely accused person. It is awesome, just as good as the first track. For whom the bell tolls is my favorite track on here, and is fun to play on guitar. Fade to black is a ballad, it is good, but not as good as the rest of the album. Trapped under ice is another brutal thrasher. Escape is very good, too, but I always overlook it. Creeping death is one of the best tracks here, and the guitar part is hard to play, and very fast. The call of the ktulu is a great closing to the album. This album is better than kill em all, I recommend that you buy the whole album.

- Awesome

FFWF=11/10 RtL=60/10 FWtBT=100/10 FtB= 100000000/10 TUI= 15/10 Escape= 25/10 Creeping death= 100000/10 tCoK= 45/10 Album =1262532

- CLASSIC

The first 4 albums Kill,Ride,Master &Justice are enough for me cause Im still listening and banging my head!!

- Best album of all time

This is the best album there is, ever was or ever will be

- Remaster is EPIC!!!

I know that people will say it’s just a way to sell an album twice, but I DEFINITELY hear a difference between my old CD and the new mixes. Things sound crisp and clean and with a fresh coat of paint. Thank you Metallica! Can’t wait for Master of Puppets Remaster to come out.

- Classic

It's a must have

- Epitome of thrash

This is a perfect example early Metallica speed metal, or thrash metal only toped in raw speed and angst by the kill em all album or better put metal up your a**!

- PERFECT!

One of the best ever. They sounded like no one else and thats what made them the best. Everyone else was singing about the same ol thing. Metallica was creative and delved deep into more realistic things other than death and chopped up body parts with crappy lyrics and singing styles. They were their own masters and proved it by stepping outside the typical thrash box. Ride the Lighning MF'ers

- Breathtaking moments in one album

I'm a 13 year old who's been a fan of Metallica for a very long time. The title track straps you into a roller coaster and doesn't let go. For whom the bell tolls makes you feel like you're in a war. Creeping death puts you right in the time of the plagues. Fight fire with fire makes you feel the world Is going to end. Fade to black makes you emotional. And the call of ktulu puts you right into an epic journey. Simply a great album!

- Classic

Classic american metal

- Without Music, Life Would Be a Mistake.

The remastered songs are super perfect, I’ve listened to Metallica since I was 7 and I recommend everyone to buy this Mastered for iTunes collection. there’s a huge change in the quality of these new ones, believe me, especially u can feel it in Fade to Black...

- Will always be know as a classic
