Metallica - Enter Sandman Song Lyrics

Say your prayers, little one, don't forget, my son
To include everyone
I tuck you in, warm within, keep you free from sin
'Til the sandman he comes

Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight

Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to Never Neverland

Something's wrong, shut the light, heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of Snow White
Dreams of war, dreams of liars, dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite, yeah

Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight

- metallica the black album

metallica the black album is an awesome album and is there best they ever done and the black album is an awesome album by metallica

- Metallica

This album is awesome. The best songs are Enter sandman, Nothing else matters, My. Friend of misery and The god that failed, and wherever I may roam.

- 🤘

Awesome good

- Great Album

The Black Album is an amazing album. It’s different from their first several albums which were more thrash like but it was a good change that I think brought in more people. The album has no song that is bad. All the songs are great and especially fun to play on guitar if you’re a guitarist.

- Decent

This was the turning point from thrash to rock. Even though that sounds negative, there are many great songs coming out of this. Enter Sandman, despite being overrated is still a great song, and Wherever I May Roam is my personal favorite on this album with its killer riff. The soft stuff like Unforgiven is OK. And that is what sums up the black album. Not awesome like RTL but not awful like the early 200s. 3 stars

- Greatest!!!!

Definitely the greatest album in Metal history, if not, the greatest of all time!

- 🎸🥁

Best Metallica Album

- Best Metal Album IN METALLICA’S HISTORY!!!

I can not give any reason to not like this album. It was the first one I heard, and it is great all the way through. Do I need to say more?

- Awesome

Great follow up to injustice

- Masterpiece

Not my favorite album by these guys, but it doesn’t make it any less good. After all, it’s many fans favorite Metallica album.

- Great Album!

Metallica is easily one of the best Metal bands of all time, especially with an album like this!

- Their last good album

This is the last decent album Metallica made

- For many, this was their "first" album.

Hey, anyone remember when Jethro Tull beat Metallica in the grammy's for "best metal album," back in the day? JT was insulted. Metallica was insulted. Everyone knew the system was rigged and BS. All that changed when this album came out. Every metal band musician learned this album. It influenced everyone in some way. Some hated it and swore it's when Metallica "went pop." Some praised it because KH sat downa nd learned some fancy licks from the world's greatest fusion guitar soloist. CONGRATS! YOU CAN NOW PLAY A FEW LICKS LIKE STEVE VAI AND JOE SETRIANI. Did I even SPELL Joe's surname right?! Doesn't matter! It's not all about KH, and it's not about Jason Newstead, and it's not even about Lars a decade prior to painting like a Jackson Pollok ripoff. What matters, here, is that Metallica EVOLVED to the highest level of mix and master, to highest level of lyrical genius, and the highest level of musicality in their song writing. This is the pinnacle, boys and girls. After this, we have Hero of the Day, and then Fuel. Sorry, everybody. So, just remember, this isn't Metallica's first album. It was their last. Give it some love. Oh, and Metallica, hurry up and remaster this, so that my subwoofer falls in love all over again. Thanks, gang.

- 1991 and blows the roof off to this day

Great album and songs . A great metal album . It's metallica what more can I say after this album came 3 albums that I don't count . Then death magnetic which was a good album .This had a lot of melody and in my opinion one of the best recordings the band actually had out of all their albums . All the people saying this is bad to this day the album sells 5,000 copies a week I guess they did something right . The best metal band period .

- Metallica, nuff said.

Metallica, nuff said.

- Selloutsthey

- Smh

No good beats bruh 🤦🏿‍♂️

- Black Album Forever

I just want to acknowledge the fact that the Black Album is the best album of all-time ever of anything in possible existence. Sad but True is my favorite song of anything ever. Metallica til I die. Metallica Forever

- I am not sure what

We I am a Qatari

The greatest metal album of all time. What did you expect?

- Still the best in metal

It doesn't matter that the earlier albums were more thrasher because these songs are amazing and Metallica just matured into a better sound on this album. It's excellent and I can listen to every song and barely pick a best although I do love Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman quite a bit.

- Rock out🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁

This is the best album ever made, METAL should be better than stupid pop

- Great

Tracks to try first: Wherever I May Roam, Through The Never, Nothing Else Matters, My Friend Of Misery Tracks to try last: Sad But True, Don't Tread On Me

- I blacked out over this

What can I say about the Black Album that hasn't been said! Yeah it wasn't the Metallica from the 80's but that was the point! And Enter Sandman is an all time song and video! By all Means listen to this classic rock album!

- Excellent self titled album

This is a classic album. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- Metallica

Their music is awesome🤘🏻

Kidz Bop is just as annoying as Yo Gabba Gabba

- While a departure from their early sound....

And yes!!! Much like a huge majority, I think Metallica's first 3 albums are stellar. This album still rocks!!! Sure, it's a HUGE departure from their early sound. However, if you look at how far Metallica has come and the success they have had as a band, it's in large part because they took chances and a band must evolve if they will grow as artists and an artist can't just keep painting from the same pallet. Otherwise, they become boring and predictable. I had my skepticisms when this album first came out, but the songs really grow on you. It's a great album and one of their most successful selling albums. 16 million sold!! 16 x platinum!!! That is 16 million people who bought, listen to and love this album. One of the highest selling albums of all time. Just saying.

- One of the best

Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters is the best song on the album. No one can match up to Metallica's power! Metallica 4 EVER

- The best band

This band is the best. This was the first band I ever heard, and I think they couldn't get any better

- Not their Best

I was turned on to Metallica fairly early on, around the time of Master of Puppets. When I give 3 stars I am comparing this album to their earlier work, which is quite different from this album. However, even though this album is somewhat different in style (mostly slower) that, by itself, does not make it worse. There are some great songs on here, comparable in quality to their earlier work. However, the album is not as consistent as the earlier ones. I would say this has enough good songs to make about half an album. The rest of the songs seem very haphazard, random and not very well written. Of course this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree, but I think another drawback to this record overall is the evolution of James Hetfield's singing. He is becoming more of a "personality" on this album. On the earlier ones, he seemd to stick with singing the song with the agreed upon melody. On this album, he seems to beging trying to bring his personality to the forefront. I think this was a huge mistake. The melodies on the earlier records were actually quite beautiful, even thought they were presented in a harsh manner. On this record, that beauty, though present on some songs, is mostly replaced with a kind of staccato barking, that has the effect of simply annoying me. Also, while the earlier records have a very detailed and intricate way of songwriting, reminiscent of classical music, I feel that most of the songs here are fairly straight-up pop music, not so much in style, but in format. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge/solo, chorus done. Gone are the long, instrumental intros, the intricate, and beautiful guitar breakdowns, as on Master of Puppets, and the dramatic changes between fast and slow. This record has a little of that, but it seems like each song wants to be a radio friendly version of some of their older masterpieces. The end result of this album was that I stopped buying new Metallica records. Three stars, therefore, is generous by my standards.

- My opinion has changed.

Therefore, I owe you a HUGE apology. Honestly, I was a bad person then (and apparently had the maturity of a 5-year-old), and I've grown in the last 2 years, knowing that comment was a belittlement on me and ONLY me. About the band, which is 100X better than the crap I liked then (Iggy Whatshername, Thecomputernerd01, Selena Gomez). AKA: the REAL scam artists only looking out for popularity. Metallica's an actual group that makes actual music that doesn't come together and break up in the the span of a fly's life cycle. That's.....probably what I should've said and am saying now. Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven are the obvious winners in the album. Enter Sandman is pretty good when it wants to be. The others? I don't know that much, but Moth Into Flame is about 525,600+ times better than 24K Magic, which sounds like a train crash. Keep making every other radio star (except probably Adele and Allesia Cara) look like trash, thrash masters!

- Bob Rock👎🏻

Thanks Bob for ruining Metallica and Motley Crue!!!

- Commercial Masterpiece

This Album is there commercial masterpiece . I wouldn't say they sold out because they are great song's on this album but they definitely turned the speed down on this album .

- Only 700 reviews?

Played for 500 THOUSAND in Russia. For people who don't speak English and loved it. Great artists that can't get more then some teenage girl screeching about bs lol

- Metallica

This is without a doubt the best Metallica album ever and possibly the best album in any genre of music

I haven't heard an album better than this one! No wonder it got Metallica famous. Remember guys, follow the god that failed!

- Their BEST commercially and artistically

The thrash purists disagree but this album is their best and sent Metallica into the stratosphere! By the way, the pure thrash exited Metallica albums as early as their second, Ride the Lightning. Buy it if you don't have it!

- One of the best albums ever made!!!!!

Being raised with exposure to all genres of music, I was never one to favor hard rock music.... Until I was introduced to this album by Metallica my Senior year in High School...... An experience that changed my view on certain bands in the hard rock genre....🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

- First Metallica

Loving every second of this CD

- Metallica.......piss off

wank your guitar

- Metallica

One of the best ones yet

- Open Mind For A Different View

Closed minds cannot comprehend the brilliance of this album. Metallica's early days showcased excellent mechanical control of their instruments and a chaos that was favored by the underground metal heads. Let's be honest, many extreme metal heads are rather angry people. I'm not saying everyone is, but many are, and who else would favor songs about violence, killing, blood, gore, torture and death but angry and negative people? That being said the early albums were excellent depictions of Metallica's technical skill even if the lyrics were lowly and debased. This album doesn't portray such violence and hate, but rather questions debased and negative vilification in such songs as Holier Than Thou, My Friend of Misery, and The Unforgiven, in which the latter paints a story of a boy who's been abused and taken advantage of all his life, conditioned and brain washed by the world and used by them for their own ill intentions, eventually to die as a bitter and regretful old man. Life lessons are to be found in this song and album, such as be internally focused, be wary of the conditioning that society lays onto you from your childhood and seek to be liberated from it, as well as give up trying to please everyone, it's not possible so please yourself and live happily, fulfilled, and free. As well as not to have a holier than thou attitude, recognize the equality of all mankind, and in Nothing Else Matters, to live from the heart, trust who we are and our intuition, as well as the importance of living with an open mind. If you look at the reactions (youtube it) of underground metal heads after this album came out the anger was visceral. They were smashing their old Metallica CDs, screaming profanity, and generally raging and being obtuse. Closed minds do not like change, and this album was definitely a change. A change in Metallica's style from upbeat, fast, pummeling your face kind of style to a slowed down less chaotic yet still technically intricate style. That being said, this album is Metallica's magnum opus. The Unforgiven is breathtakingly beautiful, James' vocals throughout the album are paradoxically guttural and harmonious, passionate and infused with the very essence of metal. Kirk's guitar playing, even after all these years, continues to blow me away with the soaring highs and the jarring lows. This album represents an evolution in Metallica's sound, instead of a devolution as many of the hardcore metal heads would say, and was the pinnacle of their work before it started to achingly go downhill. No doubt there will be thumbs down on this review by the closed minded ones, but those who truly seek quality art, in no matter what form it's in, will be open minded enough to recognize the brilliance contained herein. Open mind for a different view naysayers.

- Download is terrible!

The download compared to the sampler is terrible! The sampler sounds way better and not muffled. What the hell!?

Probably the best metal album of all time.
