- Not feeling the same soul.

This new record is so intricate, Progressive and rock solid. I love the music. I have listened a few times and the vocals just are not grabbing me. Howard just had something so magical and soulful, I can't pinpoint what it is about this singer that doesn't do it for me. He is technically flawless and sounds sonicly good but I am missing the big epic song along choruses filled with love and empowerment and strength Howard layed down.

- Incredible----

I love KSE with both vocalists and will support Howard in any band he joins. . . However, this album was incredible!!! The sound/connection that comes from KSE w/ Jesse is incredible. . . .Great album. . .It took me a few times to get used to not hearing Howard, but im a big Times of Grace fan, so its wasnt that hard. . .Good luck Howard bring on the metal!Great album.

- The truth

I like both vocalist especially Jesse because I've been jammin to Kse since he was the lead singer before when i was like 13 he's always going to be sick as for Howard he is mad amazing too two totally different and amazing sounds so in my opinion I will always and forever be a Kse fan nuff said

- KSE is finally back

i wish people would stop complaining that Howard is gone. Jesse started with this band and i believe it is for the better. howard has a good voice, but jesse has so much more chemistry and emotion with this band. i do find some songs that howard did were good but when he first came to KSE in my opinion they were a different band just like Fixxxerizer said. JESSE FTW!

- not happy

i love killswitch engage, when howard was the singer. Jess dosent have the same kinda power that howard has. Jess sounds like alot of the metalcore bands thats arent makin it. not to happy about this ablum the only thing I like about it is in due time kinda has a catchy courus. thats it

- Awesome album

Killswitch is finally back I've been waiting for this killswitch since alive and just breathing awesome album

- Mind=Blown

Title says it all. Don't worry about which singer is better, just enjoy this bad*** album!

- HIIIII

I think its a great album its kinda better then lamb of god

- Nope

I love killswitch. I love the band members and I have loved the music they produced in the past but I'm sorry this was an absolute miss on their part. They back tracked with this album. Killswitch is just another generic metal core band now. I'll still support what you guys do but you better not fail me again!

- Great album

I don't ever write reviews, but this album is awesome, I've always liked killswitch. I like both singers equally. This album has a "refreshing" feel to it, to quench your metal thirst, from start to finish. Especially if u like really good singing, along with some great screaming, as I do.

- Yep

I agree with you Fixxxerizer, original KSE is way better and plain out more raw and heavy than when they had Howard. He was good, I liked his work except for the self-titles album, but Jesse is soooo much better.

- KsE Fan For Life

Back then when Jessie was orignal lead singer on Alive or Just Breathing people said he wasn't doing well with his screaming now when you listen too him it sounds like he is gouging his longs out. Howard bough singing and screaming yes it came off as mainstream a little because he talked about love and heart breaks but that didn't stop any of you from buying the albums. Jessie is cool too DON'T GET ME WRONG, Fixation on the darkness,My Last Serenade, The Element of one were great but when it comes to lyrics wise I do feel you need to research his lyrics more because he sounds like he screaming his heart and soul out too much. Howard at least gave us an element to the band that was both heavy and soft at time where we could sing along then you can honestly understand him to relate to him so yeah I'm a Howard Jones fan and thinks Jessie is cool too but Jessie seems to be trying to hard and his sound idea is more loud than his singing. Loud sound cool soft singing not cool, gouging lungs out don't bust a vain now overrall this album I had high expectations for it and it fell so flat of the line I was hoping for anoher Alive or Just Breathing and didn't get that so guys.

- Killswitch Engage

Even with the departure of their former lead singer, Killswitch still sounds better than ever!

- Just not that into this...

I think Howard brought the band to the front of the line as far as metal singers go, and I kinda liked the single...but they have lost everything that makes them want to be listened to. Maybe they should have tried to keep Phil. I think All that remains finally surpassed Killswitch Engage on my list of favorite bands with Killswitch's most recent offering being a significant dissapointment.

- Killswitch Engage as the BAND should be

I never felt that Howard and the rest of the band were very collaborative on any of the releases post End of Heartache. Even that album suffered, just not as much as the rest. I felt like the music was subdued or dictated by the vocal delivery and presence or the music made the vocals feel obsolete. KSE with Jess feels like everyone is on the same page and like they want to develop great sounds together. The guitar work matches the vocal style much better. Howard felt too slow and drawn out for the pace the rest of the band likes to play at. Alive or Just Breathing is one of my favorite albums of all time. It took a while for it to get there but I was hooked from the get go because of the raw gutwrenching pace mixed with the melodic overdrive. This album is well on its way to me considering that it may just be better. Something I never thought possible.

- Awesome album!!!

This is my favorite Killswitch Engage album. I'm glad Jesse is back. Howard was a good singer, but I prefer Jesse.

- Finally back to the original

Manny people are complaining that the new killswitch isn't as good but I say it's way better now with the new singer. I actually started listening to them again!

- Fantastic

Love it!

- Killswitch indeed

If you are unsure what to expect with this album go listen to alive or just breathing and times of grave hymn of a broken man. Its pretty much the same song styles as Jesse seems reluctant to change that. Overall good album. Just tiresome song structure.

- Killswitch engage is back!

Great song and it is awesome to have Jesse back. Cant wait for the whole album. Just got the whole album and its awesome.

- My opinion

Top 5 albums 5. Alive or just breathing 4. As Daylight Dies 3.The End Of Heartache 2. Killswitch Engage 1. Disarm The Descent Who agrees with me?

- Haven't heard it all yet..

I've been reviewing the samples on iTunes. I just love Jessie's raw screams and beautiful cleans. He was my inspiration in their first ep (self titled before alive or just breathing) Got me into metal. I've slowly progressed in taste of music and while I'm happy he is back and he sounds brutal as ever, I probably won't have this album on my playlist. The subject matter, IMO, is overplayed. I won't ever be ashamed to say that this band was my inspiration to be a musician though. One of the greats.

- Different but FANTASTIC!

Yes Howard and Jesse are different... But shouldn't a band sounds be expected to be different when a 'new' front man joins? Regardless... If you like metal, and love KSE... Buy this album! Worth every penny, and every track has its distinct flavor and is worth your full attention. That is all... See you at the next show!

- Awesome!!

This is the Killswitch Engage I fell in love with.. Awesome music, awesome lyrics.. Don't get me wrong long live Howard, love that Killswitch too,but I can't compare the two both have there own sound and I respect that.

- A Nice Surprise!

I am really suprised with how great Jesse's voice is in the style change. With Howard still helping write songs and the band's family like nature, Killswitch Engage is still as strong as they were in the begining. Though the style has changed over time, the meaning behind the music has not. It has the style Howard brought with the rawness of Jesse. I admit I prefer Howard, but I agree with many that it would be great if howard took some time to do duet work with Jesse. Both are strong vocalists and I still love this band!

- almost wrote them off

was getting so tired of hearing pop style "metal" (howard),howard almost killed this band thank god jesse is back and they are playing real metal agai!!! after the last few albums i almost gave up on these guys then i heard the new single and couldnt believe they were back from the brink. its amazing what a great lead singer can (and cant ...Howard) do!!

- A rare talent

Not too many bands actually have good singers anymore. Howard is a great singer, but Jesse's singing voice reminds me when bands had good singers, Alice in chains, pantera, etc. with great lyrics. Gives me chills. Jesse's screaming voice is good and strong as well. All in all great album, welcome back Jess!!!

- Pure Metal

I love KsE! I however the last couple albums didn't quite hold up to my expectations of the band. I think Howard was a fantastic singer but always felt like something was missing??? To be honest Jesse brings everything to the plate and totally kills it. Just my humble opinion but Jesse is far better than Howard for KsE!! Welcome home Jesse !!!!!!!

- AMAZING

I love every track on this album start to finish. Jesse Leach had a lot to prove and some big shoes to fill. Welcome back Jesse!

- Disarm the Descent!!

This album is amazing fully through every song is very well put together, it's dynamic, and dosen't stop impressing you for a second! This album shows just how unstoppable Killswitch Engage is and how much they've grown over the 13 years of this band. Jesse has such a distinguished vocal ability. He can project screams that blow you away and sing like he has been taught by Apollo the Greek god of music for the last 20 years. I am blown away by this album and it is sure to be one of the best albums 2013 has to offer!

- tie

i love howard, and jesse. I think howard was starting to get stale towards the my curse album and I haven't followed them since. Then i heard this CD through a friend and LOVED it. It's so killswitch. I think it all worked out for both of them. :)

- Great Album!

Personally, I did like Howard as a vocalist. But I love the band better now with Jesse. They are heavier, but kept their Killswitch sound. Props!

- From eh to ahh yeah!

I got into KSE when they had Howard and loved them then. I never knew they had a previous singer and when this cd came out I was kind of disappointed about the singing/screaming but the more I listened to it, it all started making sense and it grew on me. I love how heavy this album is and Jesses vocals are awesome on this album. Favorite track NO END IN SIGHT

- It's good

I personally like Howard's voice better, but Jess has done awesome and made it his own. This album is great

- Howard come back!!!

Howard shouldn't have left. Jesse doesn't have the power like Howard did. The best album was As Daylight Dies, and the worst was this one. I didnt mind Alive or Just Breathing with Jesse, but Howard will always be on Killswitches best albums.

- Phenomenal.

Yes, this album is quite a change from Howard's Killswitch. However, this is, in my opinion, their hardest album yet. My favorite track is probably "All We Have." The drum and guitar work is spectacular. Of course, I love Howard, but Jesse turns Killswitch into a whole new monster. If you're a Killswitch fan, or a metal core fan in general, this is an absolute must have album.

- hyym of a broken man

jesse was an amazing vocalist in old killswitch albums but to be honest. his album hyym of a broken man was better than killswtich engage could ever be

- Absolutely Awesome!

This album is fantastic, hands down. The bonus track Blood Stains is easily one of the best on the album. It's a shame for the people who only buy the standard edition of this album, because they are missing out on an excellent song, and two great live tracks as well. The bottom line: BUY THE ALBUM. Easily one of Killswitch's best albums. It has a rawness to it that was severely lacking on Howard's last couple albums, that being said, I've enjoyed every album from the Howard era of Killswitch TEOH being my favorite. And while a lot of people didn't like the self titled with howard, I quite enjoyed it. I digress, just buy it.

- jesse

sorry but we cant go back, alive or just breathing was a great album... no doubt about it. but after nearly a decade of howard at the mic, its hard to revert back to the old sound of jesse's voice. thats just my opinion.

- Great album but not the same..

It's not the same without Howard...

- Jesse is back!!!

Really happy that Jesse Leach is back. Howard was a good frontman, but Jesse is the complete package, including being a tremendous writer. Sorry, Howard, but KSE is better now than ever. Great album from front to back.

- Just Amazing...

Excuse me while I go headband to these songs!

- Took a minute, but got me there.

Well first off let me say that people like Fixxxerizer should shut up, Howard made killswitch. He put them on the map and is likely the only reason most people know who they are. I'm a huge Howard Jones fan and cannot wait to see what he puts out next, was very devastated that he left the band. I love every one of their CDs and probably would say that Alive orJust Breathing was probably my favorite, despite that i prefer Howard as the lead singer, everything he did was epic. I don't think this CD was on par with AOJB, doesn't sound as hard and that makes sense, bands evolve and generally go the route of softer and thats fine, i like the softer stuff too. I actually like the new All that Remains album despite all the poor reviews.. not as good as the stuff of old but good just the same.. Now to my review of this album!!! Initially i was very disappointed in the album and it was hard for me to listen too, almost seemed like a christian album.. maybe an extension of Jesse's last project, i'm not sure, i listened to some of it because i was so blown away with his vocals on the alive album.. i didn't think this was as good. I forced myself to listen to this over and over again and it grew on me and i actually think this album is pretty good.. just so different than any of their last stuff..my favorite track is definitely the Hell in me.. just bad to the bone.. that and always really stand out to me.. not real big on the single and wasn't when i first heard it, i thought and think it is one of the weaker tracks on this album.. Anyhow, these are just my thoughts, i have all of their albums and i love Killswitch, definitely my favorite band.. And back to my comment about Fixxerizer.. The band, not just howard pushed the albums in the direction they went, so to say that he alone made took them mainstream with his generic lyrics is stupid. Adam produced those albums just like the All That Remains albums and if you look at those they all went in the same direction. Howard deserves credit, he took Killswitch to the top, just the same i don't think anyone but Jesse would have been fit to replace him. Good Album, i would recommend it! Thanks for reading.

- KsE

I had the privelage of hearing Howard and Jesse live and there both great do i miss Howard yes do i like Jesse's return yes He added a mixture of Howards style and Alive and Just Breathings style and thats one hell of a combination Both of these guys are great live so there both cool in my book good album n good songs

- No

Vocals are garbage.

- I STAND CORRECTED

OK, so as most of the Howard fans, my first impressions where this is a meger attempt. Not bad not great. The last two releashes with Howard were excellent. However, after the third time through. This releash is as good, the music and lyrics. One of my favs. All the neysayers, give it another close listen. I expect the next releast to be the all time best.

- Awesome!

This is by far their best work. I love Howard sill but Jesse is back and better than ever before! Awesome album!!!!!!

- let me down

i was thinking this was gonna be an awesome album, but it all has the same feeling. nothing special or really any stand outs. now people will probably realize how unique howard made this band. the passion and energy is gone. was my favorite band now im not so sure.

- Great start so far

The album sounds great the Jesse is back and cant wait to hear more of his meaningfull lyrics, as for Howards departure I will miss him. His deep voice was something that really made KSE something special.

- KSE is back!

This album perfectly stands up to the standards set by older albums of this band. The only problem i have is that a lot of the tracks are harder to distinguish from each other. This isn't a huge problem compared to many other metalcore bands. They still have there same sound even with returning vocalist Jesse Leach. I'm very satisfied with the album. Personal Favorites are Beyond the Flames, New Awakening, In Due Time, and All We Have
