- So great

Powerful

- Wow!

I'm not even a country music fan but I LOVE LeAnn Rimes. To everyone who thinks this album doesn't do her talent justice I say listen again! Mumbling? No. She's a REAL singer who can sing better than 99% of the artists out there. Stop judging her personal life...aren't most of you country listeners supposed to be Christian? Congratulations LeAnn, another amazing album by an amazing woman.

- Worst album yet

I can't understand what comes out of her mouth. She's mumbling through the entire album. What a waste of time and talent. Bummer!

- An Acoustical Anthology of Apology, Anger, and Adoration

What a glorious assemblage of music! Let me start off this review with a little bit of background information. First, I am a huge LeAnn Rimes fan and have been for...goodness...it must be 16 years now! And I'm only 24 years old. I'm essentially her #1 fan. ;-) That said, I am perfectly aware of the personal struggles and turmoil she has gone through the past couple of years that has been made very public. It doesn't matter whether or not I "agree" with any of the decisions she made - I'm not her and I don't know what I would have done in the same position. So, please consider reading this actual review of the album and ignoring the other so-called "reviews" you will see which critique LeAnn's personal life. I've tried my best to write a little quip about each song that doesn't necessarily impart LeAnn's personal life. The point of song is to make it relatable to everybody! Make whatever assumptions you would like about why she wrote and/or recorded each song, but don't forget to relate the songs to yourself so you can fully experience them. Here we go! "Spitfire" 9/10 This is a great song to start the album. LeAnn has obviously had a lot to say - so much so, she is spitting fire! The song is upbeat and includes some nice tongue-in-cheek and witty lyrics. "What Have I Done" 11/10 Yes, this is the second song on the album and I've already broken my own rating system. However, I feel this is just. "What Have I Done" is absolutely heartbreaking. The song is an apology from a young woman who "broke the sweetest heart of the only man that's ever loved [her]." It just hurts so good! This is definitely my favorite song on the album. "Gasoline and Matches" (w/ Rob Thomas & Jeff Beck) 9/10 Rob and LeAnn's harmonies follow each other marvelously! What a pairing! And what an interesting choice in track listing position. After the apology of "What Have I Done," this rockin' song is about a very dangerous and hot pairing of gasoline and matches. ;-) Oh, and Jeff Beck is the King of Guitar. I've always been a sucker for duets and this song doesn't disappoint. "Borrowed" 10/10 This song is on the same level as "What Have I Done" - extremely personal and powerfully heartbreaking. The song is about a woman in love with another woman's man - she borrows him and hates herself for it, but doesn't want to give him back. Again, the song just hurts so good! "You Ain't Right" 10/10 This disgruntled housewife has some things to say to her man. I personally find this song to be hilarious - very witty lyrics. The ultra country sound is a fun change at this point in the album as well. "I Do Now" 10/10 This song is essentially an anthology of LeAnn's past few years. Cheatin', drinkin', and lovin' and her favorite country songs she now sees in a whole new light. Interestingly enough, she has covered two of the songs she mentions - "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "The Bottle Let Me Down". I love this song. "Where I Stood" 10/10 The fact that LeAnn did a cover of a Miss Higgins song makes my heart explode with joy. I also happen to be a gigantic Missy fan. This cover is PERFECTION. Due to Missy's special place in my heart, I can never say a cover of one of her songs is better than the original, but LeAnn's is certainly just as good. "Where I Stood" fits perfectly on this album and was expertly country-ified. "You've Ruined Me" 9/10 My favorite part(s) of this song are the subtle little LeAnn yodels at the end of certain lines in the verses. In this song, she loves how someone "ruined" her and wants to learn how to "ruin" them too. Oh, love. "Bottle" 8/10 Brace yourself and get ready for banjo and steel guitar! The only thing that could make this song sound more country would be LeAnn yodeling at the end instead of "ooh"-ing...and I wouldn't have been opposed to that. The lyrics are a little cliché and a little overly merry, but the song is still quite cute and extremely upbeat. "A Waste Is a Terrible Thing To Mind" 8/10 Yep, you read that correctly. This song isn't about the cliché "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." Switch two words and you get a very mysterious cheatin' song. "Just a Girl Like You" 8/10 This song is about a woman looking for some understanding from a woman who doesn't play fair. She tries to break it down to the bare bones - "I'm just a girl like you" - I'm not trying to hurt you, look at all of our other similarities, too. "God Takes Care of Your Kind" 7/10 The main reason I gave this song my lowest rating (yeah, my lowest is a 7) is because of its age. I heard LeAnn perform this song back in '09. And when you look at the writers, you'll see Dean listed. Because of these things, the song feels out of place and slightly outdated to me. But I do recognize how well it fits with this album. "Who We Really Are" 9/10 This is simply a beautiful song. It is more stripped down than most of the songs on Spitfire, having more of a "live" quality to it. This song is about how hard love is, but it's okay - when we go through difficult times, we find out Who We Really Are. Album: 9.1/10 Don't Miss: "What Have I Done" "Borrowed" "I Do Now" "Where I Stood"

- Been in her shoes

As one who went thru the same relationship situation, I can really appreciate how honestly she speaks to difficult issues. It has been nineteen years that my relationship number two came about, but I have to say that now that me and my ex, who was grievously wronged by me, are older and wiser and so much happier with our new partners, who's to say it was wrong? We are at the point now where all the families involved can come together for important life events and holidays and enjoy each other's company. It was hard, though, and I doubted myself so many times along the way. I really connected with her beautifully brutally honest lyrics, and the melodies and rhythms suit the mood just fine. This album is gonna get sung to at the top of my lungs for every car trip in the foreseeable future!

- AMAZING

Amazing as always LeAnn. Don't listen to all the haters, listen to the actual music before you judge the album. Yes some songs are about what happened at least 3 YEARS ago (get over it already people!!), but the album and songs are beautifully put together. Was kinda sad when the UK got this first and we had to wait almost 2 months, but I'm glad I waited since all of our options have bonus tracks they didn't have. Thank you for yet another amazing album. Keep them coming!!!

- Not a country person, but....

This is a good album. I'm actually going to purchase this one. Yes some of the songs you can't fully understand her, but the rest is just beautiful. This woman is very talented. Always has been. Nice job

- Spitfire

I have been listening to the album for a couple weeks now, and just a chance to come on here and read some of the comments. The lyrics are clear enough to understand, one must take time and listen more than once to completely get the lyrics of most songs. This album is a great piece of work with a lot of effort, time, and self put into it. The act of creating this art is amazing in itself,to relay your feelings through words that millions of others can relate too is an amazing talent and a gift that I personally am glad that LeAnn has got to share with us. Everyones opinions are appreciated, but do make sure you open your mouth with purpose not just because. Spitfire definitely a good album and struck many chords within my heart and I am still connecting to this album as I listen to it more indepth.

- Great album!

Love the album!

- Hated it!

Can't understand the lyrics. Her voice is garbled. Lot of hype over nothing.

- Amazing

Truly amazing!!!!

- Spitfire

Leann Rimes Amazing

- Pretty awesome

Love her soulfulness and her heart <3 it's a fun track!!

- I tried

I purchased a few of the songs to sample the album. I think maybe for me, it had all been out there for so long, I had heard most of it or read lyrics thrown out there for what feels like a few years, so what should have felt new felt not so new at all. Perhaps over-exposed. I also had to look up lyrics to see what was being said.. I want to hear the music to understand it not read it to clarify.. I will spend my coins on another artist.

- WOW!

Beautiful voice!

- Love

I have always loved LeAnn, nothing will change that, this album is the best because it came from her heart! She's being honest and not caring what others think! Way to go!!!!

- I wonder

Are those critical of her lifestyle letting it color their words. I do not hear the marbles/mumbling/etc and poor quality some promised me. As far as what she writes, she has always sung about her life, why should this album be any different. I find her maturity refreshing. I would hope she would move along in life like the rest of us and her music would change with the journey and it has. Hopefully in a year or two she will have moved along enough the cheating part has run it's course. With that said, this album is everything you know about her with regards to music, it's her life experiences coming out in a manner not entirely bluesy/country, it has a little pop to it more like Coyote Ugly singing period of her life. If you expect and expected her music to change and mature this is the album for you. If you expected her to remain 16 and virginal while never making any decisions or living life and all that entails, you will probably be disappointed.

- Amazing Album

I really love this album you really brought it.. I can't wait to enjoy it more this summer ...

- 15 minutes are over.

Her 15 minutes of fame are over she just hasn't realized it.

- Love It!!

Great Voice!!! Great songs :))

- What have I done..

beautifully sad song..

- Love it!

I'm in love with this album! Her true country voice shines through!

- Love!

This cd rocks! Faves: Bottle, I'm Just A Girl Like You!! The songs have been on repeat! Great work, LeAnn!

- Bored me into a nap

I used to really like Leann..back in her coyote ugly days. But since her personal life has been the mainstay to her career it has brought out the other (not so charming) side to her personality...the one I did not realize existed. I now find her incredibly insensitive, self-centered, amoral, unethical, narcissistic, and cruel. If she would stop waking up every day and thinking what can I do to harrass, irritate, taunt and tease the mother of my step children, and anyone who disagrees with my point of view, I would still have some respect for her. Everyone around her has grown up, but she has stayed at the same position in life. Her music reflects this and that is sad. It is not inspiration or uplifting nor does it motivate me to do anything posotive. It does not put a smile on my face or make me want to dance. All of the songs sound the same and seem like she was contractually forced to do them. I didn't feel any of her heart in them as I have heard in past songs. I will not buy this album or any of the singles. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

- Spot-On!

Love this new album & love Leann!

- OUTSTANDING!!!

Beautiful, raw, and real! Country music how it should be!!!

- Disappointed

LeAnn is trying, but has really lost her touch. I wanted to love this album, but on a whole it's just OK.

- Love it!

Best album she's put out yet!!!! Vocally and lyrically, it's all there.

- Real pure country

Every song is Country, so real and raw! Great work LeAnn! I Love every song

- Heart of Dixie

Been a HUGE fan forever.. got married around one of her concert dates LOL.. this is her best yet! So much raw emotion.. Come to Alabama Leann

- Love the voice but...

It all sounds like she showed up at the studio, was handed the music and delivered a short journeyman effort. No emotion and none of the passion of earlier works. Plastic grind for plastic listening.

- Seriously good music here

I'm really impressed with Spitfire. It sounds fresh from her previous releases. Her voice is so strong and sounds pure, which something that can't always be found these days. Right now my favorites are "Gasoline and Matches," "I Do Now," and "What Have I Done."

- Extra delicious

Home girl is coming for Taylor, Carrie and Mitanda!

- A little disappointed :(

I'm a HUGE Leann Rimes and country music fan. I've been anticipating the release of this album, but I'm unfortunately a little disappointed. I'm not crazy about all the up-tempo songs and it defiantly doesn't reflect her amazing voice. I love the heartfelt honesty of the songs, but I think she should have went a different route with it. I love you Leann and I was hoping to LOVE this album, as well, but its just not there for me.

- Great music

Love her voice can't wait to listen to her new album.

- Real Music.

What real music sounds like. Great album!

- Way to go LeAnn!!!

I think this is an amazing album and that she has every right to speak her mind and tell her side of the story get over already people. Country music has always been about cheating and lying!! I think that this album sounds more country than any artist out there right now. Country music persay has become way to pop sounding and filled with no talent artists such as taylor swift!

- Finally!

I've been waiting months for this album!

- Awesome Album

What an awesome album. Heartfelt, fun, touching....it's everything. Don't know why people are posting derogatory reviews based on her character...must be bored with their lives if they don't have something better to do. Awesome album.

- AWESOME!!!!! ALL THE WAY THROUGH

Awesome new album, so good from start to finish. I have already been listening to it on repeat and the songs just keep getting better. Just went and saw LeAnn in concert in Canada, she is an amazing vocalist and writer. Can't wait to see her in Seattle!

- Good!

She still has a really great voice!!

- Country Little Pill

" Spitfire" is Rimes best country effort since " This Woman". Every track is essential an Intimate, raw and fun cathartic play snapshots of what has transpired. Other ladies might be running the country charts but Rimes is the supreme queen bee.

- Amazing

LeAnn has really shown off her God gifted voice in this album. Love the songs. Much love to you, LeAnn!

- Horrible

Horrible

- she's back

Great music and I'm glad ur back;)

- Cute

It's a cute album! Very raw and personal, more artist should make albums like this one! Heart and soul into it! Loves it! 👍💗

- I love this CD

This CD is definitely autobiographical. The lyrics are wonderful as is the music. Leann uses her voice beautifully. I do agree that Spitfire is a bit difficult to understand but if you listen closely you''ll catch the words. Overall I am extremely excited to have such beautiful music. Wonderful!!!!

- Spitfire

I've read a few bad reviews that mention her personal life & the subject matter of this album. All songwriters write about their lives, whether it be heartbreak or love. June Carter wrote "Ring of Fire" about her affair with Johnny Cash, which he sang. I applaud her honesty on this album & it is raw & beautifully sung!! Best album I've listened to this year.

- Beautiful Voice

Leann's voice is distinctive and any song she belches out is sweet music. Her Hallelujah song is so amazing. She should cover that song on iTunes. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

- Emotional and Wonderful!

Wow, to have a voice like this is a wonderful gift from the powers that be. She can touch one's heart and this by far is her best creative work to date. All the best LeAnn!
