Ripple by Grateful Dead Song Info
"Ripple" is a song written by American musicians Jerry Garcia (lyrics) and Robert Hunter (music) that features as the sixth song on the Grateful Dead's 1970 album "American Beauty". Hunter wrote the song in 1970 in London on the same afternoon he wrote "Brokedown Palace" and "To Lay Me Down" (while reputedly drinking half a bottle of retsina in the process). The Dead debuted the song on 18 August 1970 at Fillmore West in San Francisco. Several lines throughout the song have been compared to the 23rd Psalm of the Bible. The song has subsequently been covered by a number of other artists.
