- Can't stop singing!!!

Love the music and the show!!!! Well done!!!!

- Singing and acting

The singing was really good, but the acting wasn't. It's not as good as the original.

- Incomparable

Please don't compare Julie Andrews movie version with Carrie Underwoods live stage performance. If anything compare it to the original SOM (1959) with Mary Martin. Ms. Underwood outshines the Broadway legend that was Mary Martin. Also, think of the courage it took to undertake this. - to perform live in front of 18.5 million people without the opportunity for a retake (I wonder how many scenes Ms. Andrews had to retake). I love this album and will play it over and over again (PS. I saw one person give it only one star but said he would never listen to it hmmmmm)

- BRAVO !!!

I've seen the Latest LIVE rendition of The Sound of Music. I grew up on the 1965 (the year I was born!) screenplay of the original theatrical production. As I have seen in the past, Movie renditions of Both books and Theatre have always fallen short (sans "Mama Mia"). As I've always admired and respected Julie Andrews and cast of the movie, but my eyes have been opened wide and now have seen how the movie fell short! It missed the breadth of the relationships between the characters (ex the "mother-daughter relationship between Maria and the reverend Mother), the urgency of the effect the Anschluss had on the family (as well as the disdain that Georg had for the inevitable occupation of Nazi Germany (a true portrayal ). As I have always been moved by the movie, this new rendition of the theatre production tugged so much at my heart- especially the scene (being a dad, this is personal to me) where Maria rekindles Georg vonTrapp's relationship with his children: underwood and moyer's Portrayal of the elder VonTrapps touched me so much, I couldn't speak for over 10 minutes! In conclusion, the live theatrical production is a winner, and the music performances? BRAVO !!!

- Carrie Underwood Is My Favorite Thing!

This new version of The Sound Of Music is a delight! Carrie sang beautifully and was terrific. Audra McDonald singing "Climb Every Mountain" was amazing! Buy this album is my suggestion. It is lovely!

- Awesome Cd

i love all of these songs the way carrie underwood does it

- Yes!!

People say this movie shouldn't have been remade...and it wasn't...the movie was a movie and this is the Sound Of Music LIVE...a stage play! Making everything completely different to begin with...Carrie isn't competing with Julie...it's more of an honor for Carrie to be able to play Maria...and I'm sure Carrie knows that...I thought it was an amazing performance and having to work with that kind of stage with no cuts would have been extremely difficult...props to the actors and actresses in the Live version(:

- I like it!

I am a fan of the original The Sound of Music. I love Julie Andrews but I gotta say Carrie underwood and the rest of the cast did a good job at singing the songs. Give it a chance. You just may like it.

- It's not the same

Julie Andrews was way better, you can't change a classic to make it better. Try again!

- It was beautiful

I absolutely love broadway, and the 1965 version of the Sound of Music was the first musical movie I ever watched, therefore, it has a very special place in my heart. Julie Andrews will forever be a legacy and why not? With her exquisite voice and acting? All that said, Carrie Underwood and cast did a fantastic job. Sure, it was different from the movie, but it was supposed to be. It was actually a live production of the broadway version and not a "movie remake". Carrie Underwood's vocals were strong and I especially loved her rendition of "My Favorite Things". I was blessed to hear her singā€¦and I'm sure others were too.

- Uuuhhh!

No and why!?

- Terrible

this was awful! the album isā€¦..ok. but the production was awful!

- One high noteā€¦and so many lows

I get it - itā€™s not the movie or for that matter a great version of the original musical and why they picked Underwood is baffling. She isnā€™t a broadway trained singer and itā€™s clear then only to make it worse they surround her with broadway vetā€™s and a God (Ms. McDonald) which only makes both Underwoodā€™s singing and acting seem flat and painfully naive. Nevertheless Audraā€™s Climb Evā€™ry Mountain is PERFECTION. Itā€™s the only thing worth buying and thank you sweet Jesus it wasnā€™t album only. By McDonaldā€™s show-stealing beauty and leave the rest. I wish I could rate a single song.

- Overall good cast. Carrie has a decent voice, but not good acting.

I enjoyed it for the Broadway star power such as Laura Benanti and Audra McDonald. Carrie did the best with what she was given but I think she could've been given some more acting training because watching her when she wasn't singing seemed a bit stiff and blank at times and there was little to no comedic timing for her. I'm not saying be Julie Andrews, but I think she was focusing on Film acting and not the big over-the-top style that Musical Theatre brings to the table.

- You can, They did, Bravo

I would call this an adaptation not a remake. It was a play not a movie. It was extremely well done. The only fault I could find with it and its personal was that I would have liked to have seen more closeups portraying Maria and the Baron falling in love with each other. Bravo!!!

- Perfect and refreshing!

So nice to get an awesome voice like Carrie on these songs. Beautiful!

- No words to describe

Beautifully re-done. Congrats to such a talented cast as well as directors/producers. Speechless!

- Acting was TERRIBLE!!!

I thought the acting was terrible and the singing was just okay but not great...everyone will always compare to the incomparable original...which was awesome! This...not so much.

- The sound of music

Best song ever from direction doe female deer I watched the sound of music awesome best song ever

- Amazing Soundtrack

This album is wonderful. You are able to hear The Sound if Music from a completely different perspective. Carrie is not Julie and vice versa. Carrie does a fantastic job and the soundtrack is AMAZING!! I LOVE it!!

- Sound of No Talent

Carrie Underhood cannot even begin to touch Julie Andrews talent. All in all she can't sing.

- High School Musicals are better than this

I was looking forward to the stage version. SO DISAPPOINTING! I've seen high school students act better than Carrie Underwood. The emotion was flat. There was no chemistry between the two leads. The non-musical speaking parts was like watching a PBS drama. So disappointing. Please do not try to redo Sound of Music again - the original was just fine!

- Brilliant

I think this was brilliantly done and performed, especially live.

- awesome!!

This was an amzing movie, and the soundtrack is epic! What many people don't realize is that this was based off the broadway show which starred Mary Martin, not Julie Andrews. This was in now way, shape or form a remake of the beloved movie with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. This was simple a live version done from the original broadway show. So really you can't compare them at all. But so amazing!!

- Sound of Music, NBC

Our family enjoyed watching this. It was very well done, and the songs are great. A nice stage version of Sound of Music. Carrie Underwood did a great job. Of course, we know Julie Andrews is an icon, but the Hollywood version is not true to the original stage version. Both enjoyable.

- hb perf

I love this it's just like the musical/movie and they're such good singers šŸ˜Š

- LOVE IT!!!

I saw the TV special on thursday and i fell in love with it!!! Carrie Underwood and the entire cast did an amazing job with the adaptation of "The Sound of Music" and love the soundtrack!!! very well done and really great songs!!! I'm very pleased with how it came out!!!

- Recommended

A lot of people are giving bad reviews who have refused to listen for fear of replacing Julie Andrews. You can't review without listening. So ignore the bad/fake reviews. The singing is excellent. It's a new production, a stage production, so it's different from the movie production with Julie Andrews. Any aficionado of The Sound of Music will appreciate this additional interpretation. Enjoy!

- The Sound Of Music

By the way, keys24, edelweiss is there twice.

- Love!

Great soundtrack! Carrie and all her fellow cast mates sound incredible! This is not the movie version! If you don't like it you probably haven't bought it so don't comment on it! Just move on and get over it and yourself. Awesome soundtrack!

- Reallyā€¦I mean really

No disrespect to Carrie and the other performers, they were all talented in their own way. Let's be realā€¦Carrie for one cannot act to save her life. She has a very good voice, but she does not come close to giving these songs the life that Julie Andrews did. If this was the first time Sound of Music was airedā€¦.it would not be the classic it is today. As for the role of the Captainā€¦stick to True Blood buddy because you fell way way short. Some masterpieces should never be touched and this is one of them.

- Eh.

I do like Carrie Underwood and think she's very talented... but not for musical theatre. Just like Nick Jonas before her in Les Miserables, she was cast merely to get ratings/put butts in seats. And I guess it worked (even though the reviews have been less than glowing). To me, that's just shameful. I gave an extra star for the other members of the cast that weren't cast merely because of who they are. But overall, I'm saddened that one of my favorite musicals/movies was degraded like this.

- Lustforlyfe59

People need to realize that J.R. Ewings mom was the original Maria. Not Julie Andrews! This was a remake of a Broadway Play. Not the movie. Watched it last night. Good attempt by NBC to bring real music to the screen. Beats the "reality" shows. One issue is that the audience is suppose to tear up during "climb every mountain", NOT Maria.

- Ummmmmm WHAT?????!!!!

THEY RUINED MY CHILDHOOD

- The Sound of Music Live!

First off: It's based on the Broadway Musical. Second: Carrie was great. Carrie never said she was ever going to be like Julie Andrews, but she said she would play the part as best she could. It was different for me because I never saw the original Broadway Musical due to the fact that I wasn't born yet. But, I thought it was great.

- I tried...

I feel like this show was mashed together to fit Carrie, when it should be the other way around. There is no doubt of Carrie's talent, I just don't think she should continue with musical theatre.

- Buy it!!

She is amazing and did a great job. Sorry for the closed minded people who think it shouldn't be changed.

- To Carrie

Carrie, God answered our prayers. I know many who were also praying you'd do a good job last night... You didn't do well, you did a smashing job!! Your singing was strong and poignant, all where appropriate. (I bought the soundtrack already.) I was astounded by your acting. You made my heart rise and fall, along with the plot. God has gifted you, my child. I trust you keep Him first in your life, and reflect praise back to it's Source. Congratulations! Ed

- Carrie does not belong on stage. Period.

Okay, so she is a great singer, and she doesn't "butcher" the songs as everybody says. But anyone who watched it can see that she is a bad actress. And she really doesn't fit the role at all. The ONLY reason she was there was for publicity. The originals are much better than this. But this is not bad.

- Nice Update to an Old Classic

This is a nice update to an old classic. Different from Julie Andrew's delivery but a fine performance nevertheless. Well done Carrie!

- It's a remake of the original. Not a replacement.

I think Carrie did an awesome job. For a debut in acting for such a role, I think she did a stupendous job. Of course, nothing lives up to the original. But what a treat.

- New generation!

I'm glad they did this. Nobody can beat the original but my 4 teenage girls set and watched it all and absolutely loved it. It also made them want to watch the original now which was something they wouldn't of even given a chance if we'd of suggested it. My wife and I were very leery of watching it too but loved it and thought they did as good of a job as could be done with a masterpiece. Thank you to everybody who had anything to do with this. This will get them to watch other classics in the future.

- Carrie underwood

Can't act but can sing

- Absolutely Marvelous!

I was proud the producers were willing to take this on and more proud of Carrie and cast stepping up. They did a marvelous job with a story that needs to be shared. Tears, laughter, goose bumps all abounded in our living room. Julie Andrews did awesome in her day. It is simply a new day. Thank y'all for going for it! Bravo & roses to Carrie and all the cast!

- Way to Go!

i am so glad to see a beautiful production with such wonderful talent.Carrie your parents must be so very proud to see their daughter become such a fine wholesome woman.

- Live not taped...

This was a ā€œliveā€ on stage version based on the original screenplay. The sound was not good and mistakes were made. The movie, no mistakes, "retakes available", was great. This, for a live event was very good.

- Amazing

I know that it is a classic and u shouldn't copy or touch Julie, but it is such a good movie and such a great choice of actors!

- Wow....just wow

I am really disappointed about all the negative comments there is. I know some of you don't favor Carrie underwood but that doesn't mean you can go on ruining thing like this, If you have something bad to say about her keep it to yourself and stop hating. I think she did a great job as Maria and is a good actress as well and good singer.

- Singing amazing, acting terrible

Her singing was absolutely spectacular, but man, she is an AWFUL actress. In short, buy the album, but don't watch the show.

- YES!

Julie Andrews wasn't the first person to play Maria people... Carrie can sing these songs great!
