Salad Days by Mac DeMarco Song Info
The album’s title track comes from the Shakespeare play Antony and Cleopatra of 1606. Cleopatra is nostalgic of her youthful gallivanting times with Julius Caesar: My salad days When I was green in judgment, cold in blood… In modern usage, the phrase does not necessarily have to mean of young age, but rather of one’s peak in life or career. Perhaps Mac, although still young, feels that he is already past his “salad days” and there’s really nowhere or nothing new for him.
