*WARNING - SPOILER ALERT* Cast: Anthony Rapp (Mark), Adam Pascal (Roger), Rosario Dawson (Mimi), Taye Diggs (Benny), Tracie Thoms (Joanne), Idina Menzel (Maureen), Jesse L. Martin (Collins), Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel) The first song I downloaded was Seasons of Love, and I actually came across it by accident. I listened to some of the other songs, but I didn’t really like them. Then I watched the movie, and I loved it!! It’s now my favourite movie. I think the songs make more sense and you like them more if you’ve seen the movie, and you can put them into context. 1. Seasons of Love - Great way to start off, Tracie and Jesse can really hit those high notes. 2. Rent - Good high energy rock song. 3. You'll See - Despite what everyone else says, I love this song. Taye Diggs has such a good voice! 4. One Song Glory - Amazing song, I love Adam Pascal!! It's kind of a sad song too. 5 - Light My Candle - It's a really cute song for when Mimi and Roger meet for the first time. 6. Today 4 U - Angel is so adorable =) Wilson Jermaine Heredia really shines here. 7. Tango: Maureen - Anthony Rapp plays Mark so well, he's so funny. So is Tracie Thoms! 8. Life Support - It's quite a short song, and it sort of repeats itself in other songs. 9. Out Tonight - I think Rosario Dawson played Mimi so well. She rocks this song!! 10. Another Day - Wow. Absolutely my favourite song from the movie. It has a really cool ending. 11. Will I - I do like this one, but it does repeat over and over again. 12. Santa Fe - I didn't like it at first, but it's starting to grow on me. 13. I'll Cover You - Aww, it’s such a cute song that Angel and Collins sing. Jesse L. Martin and Wilson Jermaine are so good. 14. Over The Moon - I’ve only heard it a couple of times, but Idina Menzel is so hilarious at it. Maureen is the funniest character =) 15. La Vie Boheme - Party on down Bohemians! Show that Benny what you’re made of!! 16. I Should Tell You - Roger and Mimi make such a cute couple! I think Adam and Rosario’s voices really compliment each other. 17. La Vie Boheme B - Great way to finish off La Vie Boheme. Packs a punch right at the end. 18. Seasons of Love B - Your classic reprise of the original. 19. Take Me Or Leave Me - Haha, Idina and Tracie are so good together. It’s such a funny song. 20. Without You - Really good song, really sad song. 21. I’ll Cover You (Reprise) - Sung at Angel’s funeral. This is also really sad, but it sounds really cool with Seasons of Love intertwined in it. 22. Halloween - Aww poor Mark, I feel really sorry for him here, as he thinks that he’s gonna be the only one of his friends to live. 23. Goodbye Love - Only the first couple of minutes are used in the movie, but the rest is so good as well. It’s a real emotional part and it has an intense argument between Mark and Roger. 24. What You Own - Hands down best male duet EVER. Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp: enough said. 25. Finale A - Not too important. Finale B is better. 26. Your Eyes - Aww, Roger found his song!! This is so sad, Roger is trying to keep Mimi alive =( 27. Finale B - Yay, Mimi’s alive! This is such a good way to end the movie. It’s really cool with the everyone singing at the same time, but with the guys singing different songs to the girls. 28. Love Heals - I don’t really like this song. It’s not in the movie. I thought it kind of sounded like a song that would be played during the credits of the movie. This is such a great soundtrack - a MUST buy. NO DAY BUT TODAY!

- Get this....NOW

really awesome not quite as good as the OBCR but still really awesome...buy it...see the movie ... see the show...its great that its mostly the original cast and not stupid people that cant sing

- i love seasons of love!!!

ok the best song on this cd is seasons of love!!!!!! i love that song!!!!!! everyone should buy it!!! it is so so so so so so so great!!!!!! i love it so much!!!!

- Where?

I LOVE Rent, and this album, but where is "No Day But Today"?

- Season.net

The song seasons of love is a great song especcially to me.

- Awesome

rent is one of the first musicals that i have seen, and now that i have seen more musicals, it is still by far one of my favorites. these songs are so emotional and they really express the feelings that so many feel, expecially during the AIDS epidemic in the 1990's.

- OBCR Better.

No lie. Rent belongs on stage, not on a screen. The only thing saving this album is that they got a lot of OBC members.

- Lovly

This cast is wonderful and you all should buy these songs. Even though some of the songs didnt go into the movie. It's also cool how most of the cast was on the actual Broadway play. I keep reading reviews comparing the two. Yes there are going to be differences....personally i've only seen the movie version, but I really enjoyed it. One more thing...the harmonies we so amazing! So it's up to you...buy the album or miss out....

- AMAZING!

I absolutely love this album! Seasons of Love A & B - 10/10 Absolutely great song. Really gives you something to think about. Rent - 8/10 I really liked this song, I love both Roger and Mark's voice in this. You'll See - 6/10 I really liked Taye's voice, but not a nesacarry song. One Song Glory - 9/10 VERY powerful song. Light My Candle - 7/10 It's easier to understand if you're watching the movie, but is entertaining. Today 4 U - 8/10 Better to watch, but its a very amusing song. Tango:Maureen - 6/10 Not one of my favorites, but its good, gets kind of annoying after a while though. Life Support - 8/10 Although its short, its really amazing to listen to. Out Tonight - 8/10 Really great song on Rosario's part. Another Day - 10/10 Amazing song! Rosario did a AMAZING job in this, and with Adam's voice its just perfect! Will I - 9/10 So touching. Santa Fe - 7/10 Not the best song, but Jesse's voice just has such a great tune. I'll Cover You - 7/10 Over The Moon - 5/10 Really funny to watch in the movie, but really isnt a 'song' La Vie Boheme A & B - 10/10 Great song! I should tell you - 8/10 Great tune Take me or leave me - 8/10 A LOT of woman love this song, very entertaining. Without You - 10/10 Such a sad song, but its absolutely amazing. I'll Cover you Reprise - 8/10 Really sad, but really nice. Halloween - 7/10 Short, but Anthonys voice is really good in it. Goodbye Love - I cant really say because I've never been very fond of this song, but many people love it. What you own - 9/10 Absolutely love Anthony and Adam's voice in this. Finale A - 4/10 Just some dialouge between Rosario and Adam Your Eyes - 7/10 Really touching Finale B - 10/10 Great ending to a great movie!!

- Oh my goshhhhh

I fell in love with rent after my friend showed it to me. I was bawling like a baby at the end!!! If I've seen it you'd know what I mean. But even If u havent seen it the music is amazing in the musical. My personal favs are: Seasons of Love, One Song Glory, Another Day, Will I, La Vie Boheme, Take Me or Leave Me, and Finale B ~~~ the most emotional songs like One Song Glory and Will I and Finale B I sometimes get teary eyed just listening to them! This album is a must get and definately see the movie!!!

- :)

i love rent because Idina Menzel is in it!!!! and also because it is a great musical, we were gona do it for school but another school got the play rights thing before us :( oh well, its still awesome

- The most amazing musical EVER.

RENT is the best movie ever. What You own is one of my fave songs!

- Oh my, Oh my

I first decided not to write a review on such a well known and well received soundtrack at this one, but after reading some of the reviews - I had to make a couple of points. First of all, as a person who has both the soundtrack and the OBCR (and the movie on IPod and DVD), you can say I'm a little bit of a fan. I will admit I have an affinity (well somehting like a school girl crush on Prozac) on Jesse L. Martin. So to say I have studied the role of Professor Tom Collins is an understatement. So let's get this out the way. For the person, who wrote in a review, or persons who did not understand the role of "Santa Fe" completely misunderstood the purpose of Rent. Outside the gorgeous baritone and fluid, comediac, yet very emotional Collins - his role and his songs provided some of the meat. Sante Fe is one of my favorites because you can hear a very trained and sensual voice in Collins, yet he sung the song just as one would speak it and if you listen to it - it will tell you of the dreams of the entire cast that is carried throughout the rest of play. That warm place in the desert where everyone's dream is fulfilled and the could have a profssion that paid. Not to mention, you won't understand the vamps at the damn end if you don't listen to this song. Don't overlook this jewel, many people will - but it shoudn't be. Of course everyone knows the infamous (kiss kiss) of I'll cover you and it's somber and poetic reprise. This is, in my sided opinion, one of the best pieces on the album. IT surpasses the performance on OBCR because not only is Collins in pure operetic form - the background of the company is polished. Especially with the editions of Joanne, Maureen and Mimi starting the "five hundred kisses" in full blown vocals. It is somber but also something that one would want sung to them at a wedding or a night out. Okay....there are other performances other then Collins - yes I know- "Will I" is another song that is delivered much better on the soundtrack because of the polished tones of all the company members. Rent is still great, but better on the OBCR. La Vie Boheme A&B is another polished jewel. Finale A&B is a toss-up, I actually liked both. One Song Glory and Take me or leave me are also outstanding tunes on both albums. They are must haves. Understanding that different actresses are sing at this point, but the character of Joanne is just breathtaking in my opinion. Like Collins, Joanne has smaller parts in comparison with the rest of the cast, but her performance on these tracks makes the show. Of course the Seasons of Love is a must for most. I actually skip over it (I know how could i) but it is a great song for people looking for classic play showtunes. A missing jewel that is not on this album, but can be found on the OBCR is "Christmas Bells". For those of you wondering how good is the soundtrack, understand that there will always be differences between Live peformances and recorded albums. If your are buying this album after attending the play - you may be dissapointed, get thhe OBCR instead - Ipod has it. And oh yeah, for those who are wonderign what the hell an OBCR is, it is the Original Broadway Cast Recording, in other words, the play itself. It is longer and has more "fluff" tunes. But it is a masterpiece. Rent is a masterpiece. Buy both, it is a great investment.

- AMAZING

This soundtrack is too good. I love it to no end and the movie rocks my socks off. I'd just like to point something out. Some people are saying that these "new cast members" are terrible. The only members that changed from the OBC are Mimi and Joanne. Everyone else is the exact same person, and I believe that these cast changes were actually for the better. Joanne in the OBCR was good, but this Joanne is better. As for Mimi, it is painful to listen to her in the OBCR. This Mimi is a MUCH needed improvment, and I think she fits the character much better.

- GENIUS!!!

This musical/ movie was outstanding. i totally understand the meaning of it. Seasons of love has to be the best song outta all of them!! :)

- Rent ROX

rent is one of the best musicals ever and idina mendzel rox!

- love it

i love this! i love the movie watched it twice last night ... im a big fan of the broadway too ... but i think the movie holds its own ... rosario dawson has a great voice and she blends well with the original cast ... tracie thoms can hold it down! i love her voice and she really stands out and tracie was a great pick for this part no one else could've done it better than her ... i love everyone else im a really big fan of idina, she did great but wish she would've got more singing time ... and taye diggs too he should've sang more his voice is perfect!

- I'm sooo happy!

i'm so excited about this soundtrack.... my favorite song is seasons of love! <3 I think its really wierd and stupid that its the only song on the soundtrack that is 1.29.... honestly wat is that about?? if they are .99 cents they al should be. not just the one with the highest popularity

- this music is amazing.

beautiful voices, remarkable lyrics, memorable songs. perfection. Rent is a musical that has a wonderful story that ties together so many differentnpeople. Many people are taken aback by the cheesiness of most musicals, but rent is just so real. i love the movie, love the music!

- in my opinon, better than the origonal recording

i'm glad that they kept most of the origional cast. but rosario dawson is WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the origional mimi. her voice is much clearer and just sounds better. i like the origional joanne, don't get me wrong, but i think tracie thoms sounds better. the instruments in this recording sound much better than the OBC. but than again it was 9 years later. rosario and tracie blend and sound much better in goodbye love, and i like the change in tempo during i should tell you. adam pascal sounds a little bit different in the movie, as if he's singing it up the octave. whatever it is i like it. :)

- i bought the selections

these songs r great i love the beats

- Beautiful

Ballads of rock... the songs won't make a lot of sence if you don't see the movie or musical first, so, beware! I love the song "Goodbye Love" the most, just because if tells such a powerful story. Just see the movie/ musical first, so you don't get confused listening to it!

- Such a moving experience

I trust what my physical reaction is from music and the message it aims to give. This movie/soundtrack have brought me to tears many times and I'm not a woman who cries for just anything. There is a very serious lightening in one's spirit and a very impressive weight on one's heart when listening to this soundtrack. I highly recommend it.

- I LUV THE SONG...

.....SEASONS OF LUV!!! OR LOVE!!! IT WAS OUR GRADUATION SONG!!! BY THE WAY, THIS IS SOPHIA PREDER. ME. B-DAY IS OCT 17.

- I can't stop listening to RENT...

When my High School bought the rights for RENT in 2008 and became the first official school to perform the musical, I was immediately hooked. I listened to some of the songs, and after hearing "Another Day", I decided to buy the Movie soundtrack. I have to say that the Movie soundtrack sounds better than the OBR in a lot of ways. One of the biggest deciding factors was Mimi. Sure, someone who is a druggy stripper could very well have a not-as-desirable sounding voice, but that doesn't mean it has to sound like an overly-nasally drone. I personally like Rosario's voice more, partially because I can't stand to listen to OBR Mimi for very long. However, in the OBR, Roger sounds much stronger. For me, that's the most disappointing part of the Movie Soundtrack--Roger is definitely less powerful. He's good, and due to smoking, he sounds like a druggy (in a bearable way, mind you). But OBR Roger is stronger. Overall, I prefer the Movie Recording. Besides Roger, the entire cast sounds great as ever, and Mimi's and Joanne's replacements add new levels of greatness to their respective character's voices.

- :]

I love how its a new musical so it sounds like a new musical, and you wouldnt even have to like musicals to like it.

- great music

my favorite song is seasons of love once you listen to the song it will be stuck in your head and you will like it the first time i heard this song i was amazed

- Rent = Love

I love RENT it is so addicting I love it. I always cry. I totally recomend it!

- Thank You Jonathon Larson!!!

This is one of the best musicals EVER!!! One thing that I really liked about the movie was that most of the original Broadway cast members came back to be in the movie. My favorites are Anthony Rapp as Mark, and Idina Menzel as Maureen, but really, I love all of them!!! The songs are really well done too, and my favorites are Seasons of Love, One Song Glory, Out Tonight, I'll Cover You, Take Me or Leave me, What You Own, Your Eyes, and Love Heals. If you know the whole story of Jonathon Larson (the composer) while he was writing the musical then the musical will suddenly have so much more meaning! He was a brilliant composer who died way, way before his time, and his musical legacy will forever live on through this musical!

- Thank goodness I'm not the only one

I am so thankful i am not the only one who loves the music to Rent. I love the harmonies and just.... everything. There are only two songs i really don't like, but the rest is amazing. For the most part. I am so thankful that i am not the only one who appreciates good musicals.

- 5 Star off-stage, on-stage, and movie screen.

I have a special connection with RENT! My high school marching band performed there music for competitions. It was the first year our high school had ever entered any competitions. We went from very last place at the first competition to winning the last few and placing 4th at Nationals. We learned the history of La Boheme, watched the play, learned about Johnathan Larson, and in our performance we were the only marching band that didn't wear uniforms, we dressed like the people from RENT! Johnathan Larson was a great man, and it's sad we will never get to see anymore of his work. RENT deserves all the credit it gets from the big screen to the very last performance Sept. 7th at the Nederlander Theatre one 41st and Broadway. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to see it performed on Broadway and it's amazing, flawless, and passionate. The cast came out afterwards and they were so nice and loved signing whatever we had for them. I will catch the tour as it comes around next year. And again bid my final farewell to a wonderful creation of art. RENT inspires me and I hope it will inspire other people.

Martin) Halloween - 7/10 (an average song of lonliness sung solo by Anthony Rapp; not shown in movie) Goodbye Love - 100/10 (my second favorite song; an emotional rollercoaster that deals with the ends of friendships; another must-buy) What You Own - 9/10 (another emotional song sung by Anthony and Adam; signals Adam's character's return to New York) Finale A - 6/10 (a decent song, yet it is essential to the musical's conclusion; a very, very sad song) Your Eyes - 6/10 (Adam's love ballad for Rosario) Finale B -10/10 (the final finale of RENT; a great, moving combination of "Without You", "Will I?", "Life Support/"Another Day", etc.; another must-buy!) In conclusion, RENT will live forever as one of the best musicals of all time! Best Actors/Actresses: Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Rosario Dawson, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia Best Singers: Tracie Thoms (hands-down the best of them all), Jessie L. Martin, Idina Menzel, and Rosario Dawson Best Character: Joanne (she is an hilarious and sarcastic addition to the cast) Best Song: deinitely the most famous one of all, "Seasons of Love"

- AMAZING

Ok so I started out with only a couple of these songs and kept buying more until I had the whole album so it's obviously great! Here's a review of the songs: Seasons of Love - 10/10: This song is not only great for the musical but it's a great song to relate to life in general. Rent - 9/10: Perfectly created. It really shows the anger of Roger and Mark. You'll See - 9/10: One of my first favorites. Taye sounds amazing and it's just a great song. One Song Glory - 10/10: A heartbreaking song and one of my personal favorites. Adam sounds amazing. Light My Candle - 9/10: Rosario has a beautiful voice in this song. You won't really understand it unless you have seen the show or movie. Today 4 U - 9/10: A great upbeat song that Wilson pulls off perfectly! Tango: Maureen - 8/10: A pretty funny song but it can get a little old after a while. Life Support - 8/10: A very sad song that explains briefly how it is for people with AIDS. Out Tonight - 9/10: Rosario does not upset! She pulls off this amazing song with her beautiful voice! Another Day - 9/10: Another great song where Rosario shows off her flawless voice! It expresses Roger and Mimi's feelings perfectly. Will I - 8/10: Many people have a problem with this song because of its redundant verse but I disagree. I feel the harmonies blend so beautifully and it also explains the hardships of AIDS. Santa Fe - 10/10: A very jazzy song that shows off Jessie's amazing abilities. Another personal favorite of mine. I'll Cover You - 9/10: A great upbeat song that shows the love between Angel and Collins. Over the Moon - 9/10: Idina is hilarious in this song! You won't really understand it if you haven't seen the show or movie though. La Vie Boheme - 1000/10: An upbeat celebration song!!! It's fun and just flat out amazing! Anthony sounds great in it. I Should Tell You - 8/10: A ballad that is beautiful and displays Adam and Rosario's amazing voices. La Vie Boheme B - 10/10: Keeps up the celebration and sounds great! Seasons of Love B - 7/10: Not very necessary but a good song. Take Me or Leave Me - 9/10: A great song that displays Tracie and Idina's powerhouse voices! Without You - 10/10: A sad song that is great in the movie. Explains Mimi's hardships. I'll Cover You (Reprise) - 7/10: A sad part in the movie but kind of a boring song. Halloween - 8/10: A really short song that defines Mark's feelings. Goodbye Love - 10/10: An amazing song that explains everyone's problems. One of my favorites. What You Own - 10/10: One of my personal favorites that is just amazing. Finale A - 8/10: Very short but a good song. Your Eyes - 9/10: Sort of a boring song but a very sad part in the movie. Finale B - 10/10: An overly amazing song that is like Seasons of Love, it can be related to life in general. Love Heals - 9/10: I'm glad this song wasn't put in the movie but it is still an amazing song that is wonderful. Overall this album is a must buy for anyone! NO DAY BUT TODAY!

- Seasons of Love

We sang Seasons of Love for music contest at my school. We got 2nd place, but I loved this song. It has such a good meaning: to measure your life in love. I have never seen the movie or the Broadway musical, but I have heard the soundtrack and it's really good. This song just reminds me of all the good times I had last year.

- RENT!!!!!!

I love the song seasons of love it is so good. i remember on american idol 2008 they sang it as a group yeap not as good as the original though.... buy it

- Awsome

I love rent thank you Larson so much

- Amazing!

I like this cast better then the original boradway cast, I love Mimi's voice so much!

- How About Some.....Loooovvvveeeeeeee!

I absolutley love Seasons Of Love, and the movie Rent, and the soundtrack.

- wow

<3 rent ssoooo much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- GREAT SOUNDTRACK!!

This is an awesome recording of the movie version of Rent. It's most definitely from the Broadway version, but UH DUH!!! Of course it's gonna be different from the Broadway version! But in itself it's awesome!!

- Definetly Worth the Money!!!

This is the best album ever. I love every song on it. The casting of Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thoms (as Mimi and Joanne, respectively) was a great idea. Tracie, especially, played her part wonderfully. Her singing, combined with Idina Menzel's amazing voice, makes Take Me or Leave Me one of the best songs on there. My other favorites are One Song Glory, Goodbye Love, and Your Eyes. The second part of Goodbye Love (with Mark and Roger's fight) wasn't in the movie, but it's the best part of the song. The way that Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal sing it, it gives me chills. Adam Pascal's solo songs, One Song Glory and Your Eyes are perfect. He, with his gruff, rock voice, is the best singer on the album. Even his solo cds are good. I spent $25.00 on this 2-disc album and it was soooo worth it. $17.00 is an even better deal, and if you don't make use of it, you will be sorry. So, be smart and buy this album!!

- Soo in love!!! <3

This album is just completely breathtaking! It's got great voices and music choices. It makes me speechless. A definite buy. Enough said.

- You gotta love Rent!!:) but...

Don't buy this version, buy the broadway cast recording. Can't touch the original!!!!

- RENT IS FREAKING FANTASTIC.

I love this album and movie SO. MUCH. My fave song is probably I Should Tell You or La Vie Boheme =) But anyway, it's a PHONOMENAL musical and it's now officially one of my all time favorites. PLEASE BUY! =D

- RENT's Excellence

Though I have yet to hear the album for the original stage cast, the album and movie from 2005 are extremely well done. Jonathan Larson was certainly a musical genius when he came up with RENT, it's a shame that he died without seeing his dream come alive.
