Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars

A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay Song Info

"A Sky Full of Stars" is a song by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released in May 2014 as the second single from their sixth album, Ghost Stories (2014). An exclusive digital EP version of it, with the B-sides "All Your Friends", "Ghost Story" and "O (Reprise)", came out in the following weeks, being considered the band's eleventh extended play. The band co-wrote and co-produced the song with Swedish DJ Avicii and received production assistance from Paul Epworth, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson. It was recorded at the Bakery and the Beehive in North London, England. Upon its release, "A Sky Full of Stars" garnered mostly positive reviews from music critics and charted inside the top 10 in over 16 countries such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and United States. A music video for the song was directed by Mat Whitecross and was released on 19 June 2014. The single peaked at number one in Italy, Israel, Luxembourg, Portugal, Lebanon, and the Walloon region of Belgium. It also topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. It was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 57th Grammy Awards. "A Sky Full of Stars" was recorded during the sessions for the band's sixth studio album, at their purpose-built studios the Bakery and the Beehive in North London, England. The studios were both originally constructed for work on their two previous studio albums, 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends and 2011's Mylo Xyloto. Avicii was invited by the band to collaborate on "A Sky Full of Stars". In addition to producing the track, he was also asked by lead singer Chris Martin to play and record the piano parts. However, Martin later stated in a BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe that he felt that he had "cheated" on the band by asking Avicii to play the piano instead of playing it himself. The single art for "A Sky Full of Stars" was etched by UK-based, Czech etching artist Mila Fürstová. The artwork continues the motif of artworks in the Ghost Stories album cycle, which feature a scene occurring in a larger, enclosed body. Multiple figures such as angels with wings like of the Ghost Stories artwork, buildings such as a church, and objects such as a maze and a chair, also alluding to those in the Ghost Stories artwork, are depicted encased in a three-dimensional star chart. The artwork is reminiscent of Fürstová's earlier work, Other Skies, which also features various figures, buildings and objects imposed onto a star map. The official music video was directed by Mat Whitecross and the shooting took place on King Street, Newtown, Sydney, on 17 June 2014. It was released on 19 June 2014. At the beginning of the video, Martin walks down King Street dressed as a one-man band, singing the first verse of the song. Then he reaches the other members of the band (also dressed as one-man bands) and, together, they play the instrumental refrain. Martin is then seen walking through the street, without the other members, while he sings the second verse. At the end of the video the band reunites in a square, singing and playing the final part of the song with a crowd of fans. While Martin is singing the final part, many paper-made stars are blown into the square. An alternate music video, produced by design studio Artisan, shows the band performing the song in a dark room where an animation of stars is projected onto the floor. The musicians interact with the projection and the stars swirl and fly around following their movements. During an interview, Martin revealed this version was actually the original idea for the music video, but was later scrapped and they decided to shoot a new video in Sydney. However, snippets from the Artisan video were included in the official one and they can be seen playing on the TV screens in a shop's showcase. At the Apple 2014 Event held on September 9 of that year, "A Sky Full of Stars" was the song of choice when the first introduction video unveiled the Apple Watch. At the 2019 AFC Asian Cup , this song is played after the national anthem of two teams in every matches. "A Sky Full of Stars" was played during the 2020 Democratic National Convention and after the acceptance speeches of U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris following their victory in the 2020 presidential election on November 7, 2020. Dana Bash of CNN noted the significance of the song choice for Biden as it was the favourite song of his late son Beau Biden. The song was also played during the 3-Point Shootout of the 2015 NBA All-Star Game weekend. It was also chosen by the players of English football team Liverpool F.C. to play during the celebrations as they lifted the 2019–20 Premier League, their first league title in 30 years. Taron Egerton performed the song as his character Johnny for the 2021 animated film Sing 2; the song was also included on the film's soundtrack. On Paulo Dybala's presentation day at his new club AS Roma in 2022, the song was played in front of massive crowd of Roma fans;[42] it was also previously played during the post-match celebration of Juventus F.C. after their game against S.S. Lazio – Dybala's final match with the club.

- Beauty in the sadness

Coldplay have produced quite possibly their best effort yet in Ghost Stories. The songwriting has come from very deep down, and the music that is wrapped around it still sends you to the moon. Listen to this album in a number of ways, my personal favourite is with my body completely relaxed on the couch with my eyes closed, richly deserving of the praise it is recieving here and elsewhere, i would love to see them play at the Vector Arena again.

- Liam

Very new, and different sound. Well done Coldplay for creating another masterpiece. Please come to NZ when you tour :)

- masterpiece

Ghost Stories is a work of Art...They say the some of the finest pieces of art have been created in times of Love, Loss or Heart break..Maybe this is one of those moments.

- SO GOOD!

Coldplay at their best.

- Great week for good music

First cold play buy & not the last already buying past releases.New Fan thanks to this enjoyable Sound .

- Absolutely amazing

I love it. Wow!!!

- Verdict is out until I hear the whole album.

‘Midnight’ was interesting and an exciting direction for them to go, ‘Magic’ was great (but kind of Coldplay on autopilot), and ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ is generic and boring. Still I am excited for a new Coldplay album...

- Simply Magic

I can't stop replaying Magic!

- Just amazing

It's one of those albums where you like it at first but the more you listen to it, the more you become to love it. Coldplay has done it again. As you listen, Chris' raw emotions truly do touch you and really does remind you of that painful break up that some of us went through. Just phenomenal.

- Different

The whole album works in sync and the lyrics reach out to me. Incredible and breathtaking. Highly recommended, however it lacks the upbeat scale of previous albums.

- I AM CRYING

After a 2 year hiatus, Coldplay pulls a Beyonce and it's beautiful. Midnight is so different to anything they've ever done and Magic is just plain amazing omg I love Coldplay why do they do this to me, I can't wait to buy the full album!

- Wow.

Wow. Just wow. I listened to full album and found myself speechless by the time 'O' faded out. So i played the album again. And again. And again. And again. Just WOW. By it now. Go.

- Ghost stories

Coldplay are an amazing band and have managed to make yet another stunning album.

- Reminiscent of the Original Coldplay

A really inspirational Album that seems to draw inspiration from some of their original garage recording songs, whilst incorporating new sounds that they have never explored before. Not sure if a step back to the past, or a step forward into the future, but either way it is a phenomenal album. Best served at 3am on a frosty night walking home from work

- Beautiful.

Ghost Stories is one of the most beautiful master pieces I have ever heard. It's so raw and painful but at it's core their is a sense of optimism and beauty, it's like Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy want us to understand that we all have tough times but we all come through it, there is light at the end of the tunnel and even in our darkest hours there is hope. What a message to send out to fans. I love Coldplay so much! So happy to be able to download the album two hours early as well. Thanks guys!

- So Good :')

I love it!!!! You should buy it! Come on. Buy it. You've come this far!

- Into Coldplay

Memories that are ‘always in my head’ and moving towards ‘O’ Indulge yourself into an infinite daydream, a deep escape that looks back at life from a different vantage point… In every respect relevant in a time when past and present generations look to each other to find significance for being in a world that is both familiar and unknown. Immerse yourself into a deep, serious and meaningful album about life in general. Ajrexx

- Mesmerising

'A Sky Full Of Stars' is the big hit and a great song to dance to, my personal favourite. But I had ignored the other songs. The 2016 NZ concert has definitely changed my view. I gave the album a listen and I have to say that this is one of my favourites this year, though being out for a while now. Chris takes us through his Post-Paltrow Pain, a break-up that made headlines. 'Always In My Head' explains how Martin cannot forget her. He still has faith in their love in 'Magic.' By the time we get to 'True Love', he's desperate so much so that he will be happy with a lie. 'Another's arms' takes his pain even further, with seeing her with another man. But this album does come with a conclusion - Chris gets over the grief and vows to 'fly on.' And that synth-washed celestial-like ending note: "Don't ever let go." Such an awesome album, every song is mesmerising, and starts and end on a similar note.

- Awesome vibes!

Magic is dope

- Great journey

It's been a great 15 year journey, ups/downs, awesome album! Thank you Fellas!!

- Its solid but meek...

Im a huge Coldplay fan and while this album is actually quite beautiful I have to say the way they released this album left a bad taste in my mouth. The fact that they only released 9 tracks for this album was a bit of a shock. And after purchasing the album on vinyl I realized they gave target an exclusive for two more tracks on such a short album. In all honesty I felt slightly gipped. It was kind of a slap in the face that I couldn’t listen to this entire album on the medium of my own choosing and paid a much higher price. They eventually released the additional tracks here on iTunes but these exclusive track platforms need to $top, I understand standard vs deluxe but Coldplay moving forward… don’t make your true fans bitter to buy your music because we love you.

- HOOKED

In love with Magic.

- Different...but I love.

This threw me off at first, but then I listened and I really loved it. I was quick to judge. It turned out to be one of my favorite albums. Sometimes you need a little slow music in your life. This is perfect. I love. :)

- Perfection

Coming off the explosion of color that was Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay pulled the reigns back and stripped their music down to basic sonic rhythms. This album could have easily become an over-produced mess but instead it was produced and fine tuned to the point of absolute and total perfection; clear, cut, precise, and to the point. Nothing in this Album occurs unless it was designed that way. Coldplay clearly had something to say, and this album says it with little distraction. Ghost Stories is a small, smartly written, and neatly placed package that stands among their best work.

- A little different, and still great

I love all of their albums with the exception of the first. This one is no different. Its music that for me at least, is healthy for the mind.

- Coldplay is awesome

Great album I really love Ink and A Sky Full Of Stars :-) keep rockin out coldplay!!!

- Don't blame them

In 1979 the rip-roaring heavy metal band KISS released a disco-like album to mix in with the times and remain on top 10. I feel Coldplay is going the same route. This album on has been nothing but modern pop instead of alt-rock, the way Coldplay has always been

- Terrific!

Yet another amazing album by the greatest band in the world!

- Amazing

Amazing

- The Song "Magic"

I liked the the song "Maaaaagic" the first time I heard it performed by Muse when it was called "Maaaaadness"

- Problem with Track

There is a problem with the track 'O' the Hidden track. Half of the song is blank. Other than that the album is good.

- coldplay's album ghost stories is timeless

i absolutely love how mellow and tranquil this album is. it is perfect for almost any occasion and practically made for meditation. coldplay will always be one of my go to bands.

- Soo good😍❤️♥️😘

My favorite was sky full of stars

- 5 stars

This album is worth every penny, I love how relaxing it is.

- soren

it was great

- Enchanting!

Just listening to this album gave me chills. I grew up listening to Coldplay and their sound does change, but it's definitely not for the worst. I hope they keep coming out with new music and keep doing what they feel is right. So far, they are doing fantastic.

- ...wyd...

tf i like almost every song on this album this honestly isn't that different like what r u talking about.. Coldplay always creates sonically wonderful music and this is no exception like maybe if all you like is only some of their older stuff then you not liking this would make sense, but if you also like albums like Viva La Vida & Mylo Xyloto then this really isn't much of a stretch? i wholeheartedly feel that Ghost Stories still has that same Coldplay feel to it as much as all their other work does... u guys r delusional

- Not bad

This record has a few good ones, my favorites are Midnight, and Always in My Head. Some of the lyrics feel a bit thrown together. Doesn't feel quite as crafted as Rush of Blood to the Head, but not bad.

- Coldplay

I love this album, not gonna lie, it really scared me that you were gonna screw it up, but you didn't. Honestly, this is a really good album on its own and isn't just a cop-off of the other albums. It's like that every year. They do different thoughts and ideas on each album. Which is really good because they turn out really well. All the people that hate this album just liked the old albums and don't want their sounds to evolve to new heights, but I encourage that with different bands, I want them to try something different. And this is a whole different thing, and I like it. Good job Coldplay, you did good

- Great Album by Coldplay

This is such a fantastic album by Coldplay. They did a really good job to this album. I've been a big fan of Coldplay since their first album, Parachutes. I love all of their albums and songs and this album has a really nice, mellow, and pop rock tune to it. I love all the songs in the album. Here are the reviews to all of the songs. 1. Always in my head- A really good way to start off the album. Really nice and smooth song. Love it! 2. Magic- This is one of my favorite songs in the album in my opinion. This such a good song and really smooth, too. 3. Ink- a really nice and good song. I love the beat to it, too 4. True Love- A truly nice and love like song. Really good! 5. Midnight- Another song that I love in the album. A really relaxing and smooth song. Love the ambient to the song, too 6. Another's Arms- Another good and smooth song to listen to. 7. Oceans- This one of the most relaxing and chilling songs to listen to in the album. Such a good song to fall asleep in. Love it! 8. A Sky Full of Stars- This is one of the best songs in the album and my favorite. A really fantastic song to dance and listen to. Also, I recommend for you to buy it. 9. O (Hidden Track)- A really nice way to end the album and a really good relaxing song.

- L.O.V.E

I've been listening to all your albums and as always I so much enjoy this one. There is something in the rhythm that feels similar to one song and another yet it creates a different vibe. It almost feels like you guys are singing right next to me. Beautiful....

- Fantastic

A fantastic album by my favorite band. The music and vocals are great

- My Opinion

This is my absolute favorite album by Coldplay. I love the atmosphere and vibe every song gives off. 10/10

- 5/5

At first I thought,"they're dead".After listening to it a bunch,that's when I said,"they're still the best".

- Great

I'm not sure if you'll see this but I think you guys should collaborate with Chris Brown. It would sound great. Thanks for your time.

- One of their best

Ghost Stories ranks as one of my favorite coldplay albums. The album is expansive in a different way than their others in that it feels like they are playing in a large, echoey forest. However,it is intimate in a way that feels like they are playing the songs right next to you. Go back and listen to the album, and pay attention to the base - one of the highlights from an instrumental perspective. If you sit back and allow for this album to immerse you, it will bring you to a place where you will remember your own ghost stories, but emerge all the stronger for it.

- Coldplay new and amazing style.

With moving and touching music that not only makes you addicted, but it takes you on a journey of feelings.

- Awesome Album

It's one of my favs from Coldplay. Very calm and chilling.

- Brilliant

Love that they are exploring different types of music. Although I liked the old albums better, I still love Coldplay.

- Greatest Album of All Time

The title of my review says it all. This is the greatest album of all time.

- Midnight

Bliss , what I love about them!

- So awesome

This album is AMAZING. You can just float and listen to it. Listen to it the next time you're in a chill relaxed mood and it won't disappoint.

- Flop

This album, is simply their worst album. Simply put, it was a flop.

- Maybe the sleeper classic of all time.

Though not up to Prospekt's March standards, Ghost Stories stands up to repeated listening over the years. Not great in range, but very enjoyable quiet gems. Standouts: True Love, Oceans, Midnight, Sky.

- Incredible

Ghost Stories is an anomaly. For Coldplay, it's the point where they COMPLETELY ditch their previous sounds for a much more experimental, risky 9 track effort. This is the closest they've gotten to Parachutes since Parachutes, which should overjoyed any lover of Coldplay. However, since the release of Ghost Stories, Coldplay has released A Head Full of Dreams. This is a completely safe album, likening closer to the pop influences of Mylo Xyloto than anything else. If you're unhappy with Ghost Stories, please examine why you like Coldplay in the first place, because this is an incredible work of art.

- Awesome

Keep up the great work peeps!!!

- Coldplay Never Disappoints

I loveee this album! I don't even know how many times I've played the song Ink now. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever!! Also, if you're calling Coldplay pop, you probably don't know pop.

- YEAHHHH

YEhhhhhhhhh

- Very good and breathtaking!!!!!!!

I recently just got into Coldplay and when I first heard this album I didn't like it very much, but now it is really amazing and it gets the job done very well.

- A soft, mellow album.

One to relax, or one to get high on. It’s one of those albums. And I must say, I really like it! The only upbeat song on here is “A Sky Full of Stars”. But it’s still an amazing album to listen to. Give it a shot; don’t listen to the haters!

- An Emotional Journey

Ghost Stories is an experience. Every element of it, from the ambient, spacey feeling given off from “Always in My Head,” “Oceans,” or “Midnight,” to the more upbeat “Magic” and “A Sky full of Stars” has a specific purpose. This is my ultimate breakup album, and I am probably biased, but I feel that it really spoke to me. Like Chris Martin said, it was meant to be a more personal expression, something he had to get out, no matter what critics thought. That’s what music is all about people. When someone puts that kind of emotion into telling a musical story, it creates something beautiful. If you’ve dismissed this album or have only listened to a few songs, put it on on a cool summer night at 2 AM, and listen to the whole thing through, then reevaluate it.

- Coldplay's gone down hill

This album is ok. The only songs I really enjoyed were "Magic" and "A Sky Full of Stars." The other songs are too depressing and sad. I HOPE THAT A HEAD FULL OF DREAMS WILL BE MORE LIKE THE POP STYLE OF X & Y because that album by far was their best.

- No surprise if they pull it off again

I love how every album they release has a certain “flair” about it, each one being fresh and befitting of their time period. From what I’ve heard it sounds great and flows with the album title and cover. Coldplay never disappoints me, and for any complaints over being too mainstream or other hipster B.S. that’s too bad for them. I’ll just enjoy the quality of music they give every time. EDIT: It’s been over a year for me to reflect on this album. I’ll actually say that this album may have grown into my favorite one overall (I bought the Target one w/bonus tracks). I just love the atmosphere the music and art conveys. I don’t know, it just hits some place in me. Now their new album “Head Full of Dreams” is coming out soon, and I can understand a little why fans become a little divisive about ColdPlay’s new music. Each person has their own tastes and may have loved their earlier sound, but have an absolute dislike towards the type of music they are now experimenting with. I have a pretty broad range of music I can appreciate, so their new sound is no bother to me. I still think their high quality of musicianship is still there, its just that some people want them to hearken back to the music that fit their tastes more. I admit, seeing them approach a sort of Parachutes #2 album with the experience they have now sounds like an awesome idea. We’ll just have to see.

- Memories: sky full of stars

This was the first song I heard in the taxi cab when I arrived in Rome. Rome was a magical place and every time I hear this song a wave of peace and excitement with fond memories fill me. Thank you for creating this song.

- O (Fly On)

This is the most underrated Coldplay album. The emotion and brillance behind the lyrics show Coldplays incredible versatility. You need to own this album. (sidetone: if a perfect song has ever been written, it is the final track O (Fly On)) thank you Coldplay for this incredible album

- Orgasmic music

Amazing sound with endless emotions

- nategreen13

this is the best band ever, period.even better then the beetles.

- echoes and ghosts

I think their new album is great, really fits the ambience and echoey sound of “Ghost Stories."

- Not a fan of the new sound.

Overall, the album is too "pop" for my taste and in general I'm not a fan of Coldplay's new sound. With thy said, If you are a fan of Parachutes or A Rush of Blood then I recommend listening to the last two songs on the album as they are similar to their "old sound" and are the only reason why I give this album two stars.

- I don't like change

If this was their first album or they just came out as pop artists recently I would be like cool! But this is Coldplay you rarely ever come across anybody who is like heaven! And Coldplay music is just so awesome! Still if this is an honest pop review pretending that I haven't heard their other awesome music. Would give it 5 stars but no. Coldplay had meaning the coolest and catchy melodies and now it's just pop that's so repetitive. At first I liked it but it grew old. Please change back. In this universe there will never be another Coldplay again! Ever! There are billions and zillions of pop artists that hit the replay button! Please I'm only giving 3 stars as respect to your hard work and your great past but honestly disappointed sorry. Please bring back what we all want! Pretty please?

- Great album

Coldplay is getting more mature, great acoustic!

- It's called change

It seems that people are never quite satisfied. This is a very wonderful mellow album. For those complaining that it's not like old Coldplay. Well. Duuuhh. If it was you'd complain that it's the same stuff and that they aren't creative. Artists are allowed to explore new sounds, tell new stories. And this is a whole new story, that's somber but not as heart-wrenching and whiney as they once were in their youth. Just a little melancholy for quiet nights.

- mixed feelings

i tried to be as optimistic as i could have been while listening to the entire album.. it just doesn't seem to add up to the brilliant pieces of work that they once produced. bring back the acoustic and such!

- I'm a Sad Sea Urchin

Everything Coldplay touched up to Viva La Vida was pure gold, but since then they've released second rate dance tracks. I've always hoped that Coldplay would make another album in the guise of Parachutes, but I may have to abandon that idea :(

- Eh

I liked the first few songs that came out, but it is kinda Turing the wrong way. I really hated there last album-safe to say, it sucked. But this one... I don't know yet. I defiantly miss the old Coldplay, but it's not near as bad as the other pop songs that are out there. So I don't know yet

- Album of the year

Update July 30, 2014: I have listened to the album at least twice every day since purchase. It did not strike me as timeless before, but now I see how fresh and modern it is. Melodies and production that will make this album sounding contemporary for a long time. I'm astonished. _______________ Dear Coldplay, It does not get any better. Thank you, thank you, thank you...for the thousands of hours I will get out of this album. O, True Love, Another's Arms, Always in my Head, Oceans...unbelievable. It will take a sophisticated listener to recognize that 'less is more'

- A sky full of stars

Best song magnifico!

- Brilliant

There are not enough positive adjectives to describe Ghost Stories... beautiful, gorgeous, brilliant, amazing, soulful, heartwrenching... I've been a fan of Coldplay since their first album. I've loved every single album, and I love this one, too. So, so, so much!!! I feel bad for those who can't get on board with this album b/c they are missing out on pure Coldplay genius. This album is a beautiful masterpiece, I can't wait for them to go on tour so I can see them perform these songs live.

- It's still them.

This album has a selection of songs that most coldplay fans would call "garbage," but this album isn't entirely bad. Songs such as "Always In My Head, Ink, O and Midnight" show they still have ideas and passion. I suggest people not buy the Album but buy select songs from the album

- Disappointing

For someone who’s a huge fan of Coldplay’s earlier work, this album is just disappointing.

- I Can't believe this

Even if you can ear the sounds of the group that influenced Coldplay in their first album (Radiohead) many songz on this album felt like a let down to me. Magic is one of the most popular song on the album, and yeah It's sounds good but still the song feels empty and the lyrics are just way to simple and repetitive. Sky full of star is by far the worst song on this album. Nothing to do with the rest of the album. Midnight is the only song I really anjoyed on this album.

- 💕

This is just...amazing. 😍

- Disappointed.

Seriously, they phoned this one in. Where is the energy? I have listened to it several times now and can't believe they called this an album. This should be a 'B' side or EP. The only time I can see listening to it is when I need help falling asleep, or if I am hungover and need to mellow. Seriously, where is the real album? I never write reviews, but I had to speak out in this case. Simply disappointed.

- Emotionally Influenced

I think this album has been influenced by Chris Martins breakup recently.. Lyrics.. Music is all very soothing. Dont understand all the hate but overall a decent album with good tracks. Avicii helpled produce "Sky full of stars" but "Another's arms" and "Midnight" are vintage Coldplay.

- People Grow up, Bands Grow up

It's not vintage Coldplay and you can't expect it to be, those days have come and passed and they were great, if they were still making old stuff they'd be old news. People get older, they change, perspectives change and evolve and that's what Coldplay has done.

- A good package

I've been this band's fan for more than 14 years. I cannot claim that I love every song on every album, but they have the ability to deliver a different sound, melody, and a different package with every album. With "Ghost Stories", I find that the band's sound offers an intensely emotional album, and feels quite appropriate to the title. You can read into the songs with whatever emotional state you may be in (sadness, wonder, love, or hope) and eventually have it bring a different aspect of you out. For me, the album emphasizes my heartbreak over the recent passing of my father, with every song bringing some aspects of his memory and our relationship out. I find it at first painful, and yet eventually healing for someone who suppresses much of her emotional state. I hope you find some part of yourself listening to the album.

- Ripoff

We get ripped off big time, the exclusive Target version (USA)only is far superior,3bonus tracks and Ghost Story (one of the bonus tracks) is the best track on the entire album!! Shame on you Coldplay for giving in to corporate bullies!!!

- It is what you want it to be

It seems fans of a band get upset when their sound stays the same, and even more upset when it changes. Sure they are more mainstream now than back in their glory days (parachutes and a rush of blood), but thats what happens when your first albums are so damn good; people listen to them… you become mainstream. There are only so many ways to reinvent a sound until you either step away from your original music completely (new sound) or get repetitive (old sound). Not sure what fans were hoping for… if coldplay had more songs like their older songs, you’d start to wonder why they hadn’t branched out. From a production standpoint, I thought this album was very well put together. It isn’t the kind you listen to to pump you up, or to play as ambient music. It is an album meant for headphones, an album meant to take you on a 40 minute journey through melodic harmonies, soft voices, simple lyrics and interesting synthetic sounds. With a lot of alternative and indie these days shifting towards the synth for a multitude of new noises, I thought coldplay was able to do this while still retaining the element of simplicity which made their early music so impressive. This isn’t going to be the album of the decade, but who really expected it to be? If you go into it expecting Sgt. Peppers, then you have already lost out on what makes this album good. If you go into it expecting a different coldplay album from the rest, you’ll have got what you came for.

- Love it

I know people have been saying that they miss Coldplay old material. I think it should be expected for artist to change there “material”. You see the world differently and your priorities change as you get older, and it's a way to keep things interesting from a personal experience. Based on that i really like the album. True love, O, Another’s Arms, magic and A sky full of stars. Are really good tunes in my book.

- Ew.

Where is the old Coldplay. I miss the good old parachutes days.

- Good, not great.

There's little to say about many of the songs on there, but for having seen them live many times, I can guarantee that A Sky Full of Stars will be epic in their next tour!!!

- in love

coldplay cannot do any wrong. kinda heart broken though

- Absolutely fantastic

They did it again. Every single song just touches my soul. Great album

- Cool and calm sound

Coldplay's last two albums were full of energy and I thought this album was pretty neat, focusing on a more "quiet and calm" sound. This album was based on Chris Martin's "break up" so of course it would sound a little depressing and there's nothing wrong with that. I enjoyed this album and I'm hoping their next album will be full of energy again!

- What happened?

This is slower and less catchy than their previous albums. A sky full of stars may be the only exception and good song.

- What is happening!

I am so disappointed. What is wrong with these great artists? Something has Chris Martin all messed up! Snap out of it Chris!

- Ghost Stories

- I love it

It's brilliant

- Meh :-/

The only good songs in my opinion are "Midnight" and "A Sky Full Of Stars" (And those are cery good).

- The best

Coldplay never disappoints. Don't think they ever will.

- "O"

"O" is a hauntingly beautiful record from Ghost Stories. "O" re-ignites the daydream melody of Coldplay's "Sparks" from Parachutes (2000) and the lyrical reconciliation of "Fix You" from X&Y (2005). Chris Martin's interview with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe reveals his deeply relevant personal connection to the lyrics...

- Wowwww

Ils me decoiveront jamais!! Tjs aussi bon

- A dissapointment

There is nothing more to say really. A few half-decent songs and the rest are just filler.

- Poorly done, dull and almost pop generic.

Ok, hearing a few of these reviews, I went to my local library and got the cd instead of buying it. I'm so glad I didn't blow my money on this pop/dance club crap. They repeat the same line over and over again each song, i heard maybe 3-4 actual instruments over the synth and electronics, and this is by far the most uninteresting album yet. This is kinda like what happened with the Matrix movies. The first one was stellar and mind-blowing, then the rest sorta fell apart after getting too comfy in the cash cow seat. Poor choice, go by Parachutes or Viva la Vida, don't waste your money on this. or check your library and get the songs from there.

- Still Has Their Signature Sound, So Calm Down

I mean, c'mon. Except for "A Sky Full Of Stars" there is nothing on here that could be classified as "selling out". I mean think about songs like Always In My Head, do you think that's selling out? No. It still has that Coldplay feeling. Bands have to change, people, live with it. If you want to hear a once talented band sell out themselves, listen to OneRepublic.

- Catchy

Good, catchy songs that make you sing along. Not as much "excitement factor" as last albums.

- I think it's great

Coldplay has been getting a lot of flack for this new release and I can understand why. It's not the same Coldplay that released Parachutes or Rush of Blood to the Head, which are albums that have defined their sound (according to most fans). But I do not think it's a bad album by any means. It's just very different from their older stuff. I feel that one should judge it by face value, without comparing it. I always stand behind bands who dare to change their sounds and experiment. It's what sets them apart from most mainstream artists on the radio. Ghost Stories was a slower, reflective and melancholic album. To me, it felt like Coldplay's most personal album to date. I really like putting this on when I'm studying or trying to relax. There are some beautiful melodies and lyrics here. They might sound different, but still distinctly Coldplay. It might take a few listens until you like it, but don't throw it away before giving it a chance. Some people find it dull, but I like the way all the songs blend together instead of having individual songs stand out. This is just that kind of album. Honestly, the only track I find boring is A Sky Full of Stars. It's great for montages and for radio, but it's probably the least inspiring song I've heard from this band. My personal favourites here are Another's Arms, Oceans and O.

- Well...

There is some good songs but this is not Coldplay, for me, the last real album of the band is Mylo Xyloto because you can fell something special in it, something magic that just give you a smile or make you want to sing these songs again and again.

- boring

What happened??? All the songs sound the same….. almost put me to sleep :/

- Different.

These "Coldplay Fans from the beginning" honestly need to tone it down. Coldplay's trying something a little different. If you don't like it, then don't buy their music. It's your own problem, not theirs.

- Beautiful

Great album. Can't wait to see them perform it live. ❤️

- Amazing!

In my opinion, the other Coldplay albums/songs were too loud, and it wasn't very good music to relax to. This album is a new, kind of soulful style that I personally love. All these songs are amazing, especially Ink!

- I like it 👍

I don't know why people are hating on them it might be a new style I think it's okay I like it :3

- New Coldplay

I don't mind these songs but it's a bit disappointing how they've changed. So different than the Parachute days. But oh well, I'll always like Coldplay.

- WTF???

If you are having trouble sleeping, this album is for you. Now that Gwyneth's gone maybe you can get your mojo back! Please, please go back to the studio and make another album as great as A Rush of Blood to the Head.

- Open your minds

For everyone complaining that ‘the old Coldplay is gone’, of course it is. No way would you find material from X&Y on here. The modern music scene has changed and so artists must learn to adapt and overcome the obstacles that change will bring. Time and time again we have heard the same production techniques, the same progressions, the same lyrics - in fact, modern popular music is a sorry scene for folks wishing to listen to something half-fulfilling. Songs that were once completely organic have turned to more synthetic methods of sound production. For instance, EDM has been infused into pop songs (we all know what started that) and as a result, everyone now has to have their own take on it. For Coldplay, it is ‘Sky Full of Stars,’ a song capable of a home run yet at the moment it is falling on deaf ears, perhaps literally. Each and every one of these tracks are crafted with a desired effect in mind - we can rest assured that that is indeed Chris Martin’s goal as a front running musician - yet it appears that the audience has not progressed at the same rate as the music has. Take ‘Midnight,’ perhaps my personal favourite song on the album. Beautifully and hauntingly simplistic, it utilizes newly popular technology (i.e. old technology that has been reborn [vocoder]) and places it within a fresh, scaled down context that evokes production that is palpable and raw. Though words and progressions are few, ‘Midnight’ is easily the most emotional song on the album, and it is our job as listeners to discover that. I believe Coldplay has certainly worked their ‘Magic’ on their album, yet some ideas surpass the level of musical inclination we as an audience unfortunately possess.

- good

if your looking for an album to lift your spirits up and get you going, dont buy this. its just not the vibe of this album as the title suggests. the songs do have an eery sound to them and its very mellow and cool. i was looking for great music to unwind to or have on while on my computer, as all the powerful singing and loud songs can give me a headache when im working. this album is perfect for just chill music because you still have the quality of good musicans with a soothing vibe.

- Exceptional

Arguably their best album ever. No fillers, no cheese just standards that will be listened to for years. o' and oceans are probably the best songs I've heard in awhile.

- COLDPLAY's Best Album Ever!!!!

This Album is always close to my heart ❤

- Nice try

I think except a sky full of stars every song is so slow and it doesn't work!! I think Coldplay can do better ! Because I really don't like this album !! Actually I am n electronic kind of person ! So if you like electronic you wouldn't like this album !!! It's a warning don't waste your money

- Coldplay redefined

The band has shifted from its grandiose and uplifting arena-size sound to a leaner approach that relies more on simple piano and acoustic guitar accompaniment. That serves some of these songs well, especially Magic, but you'll crave the synthesizer rush that comes only with Always In My Head, A Sky Full of Stars

- Sterling

This is their best ever!

- Amazing! :D

Totally love the new direction Coldplay have taken! ;)

- The Real Artist

Its just Great. Really the best album by coldplay yet.

- album of the year ?

Just cant stop listening to Magic...cant wait for the rest of the album :)

- Big Sound does the Magic.

Its a new sound which sounds big yet easy and light and with the vocals, call it Magic! I am sinking more and more listening to this album.

- CoooooldPlay!!

Midnight is just awesome!!

- Brilliance has a new name through melancholy....

Coldplay has never failed to mesmerise and it doesn't fail on this one also. Even though some may not really like the down mood portrayed in this music, its sheer brilliance lies in the love and pain painted in each of the compositions..... Chris has poured entire pain from his heart (my wishes with him for peace and love in his life)...... And with this, Coldplay is getting amazingly outstanding by the day...... One of the few artists whose work you can blindly get absorbed into......

- Surreal and heavenly

The first feeling that comes to my mind after hearing Another's Arms, Always in my Head, Midnight I feel teleported into a drifting space. This was the COLDPLAY I always wanted it to be after X&Y and A Rush of Blood... albums. There artwork compliments and is extremely beautiful. Artistic and a lovely harmony to the tunes. It feels peaceful and pure. Love you Coldplay and tour INDIA soon !!

- The Best Of All

- Awsome

ColdPlay L U

- album

Album shows as purchased but can’t download the songs. Please help

- Beautiful!

One thing about Coldplay is that they never disappoint. Their songs have always been uplifting, with very much of a universal appeal. But with #GhostStories, it gets a little personal, the intimate verses in most of the songs ('A Sky Full of Stars', 'Always in My Head' or 'Ink') are very elegantly heartbreaking. The world may not remember this album as one of Coldplay's best, but in many ways to many people, I'm sure this is just as precious a gem as any other that has come from Coldplay.

- Very nice song!!!

Lovely song, can't wait for the album!

- love it

i love this album so much that i am not even bored when i hear it for the millionth time the best 'A Sky Full of Stars' for true

- Love it

Sublime

- Outstanding album

This album is so awesome . Midnight , magic , a sky full of stars are so good .. Worth the buy

- A pure bliss !

Magic, Midnight & Sky full of stars - simply fabulous tracks! Coldplay is in their true form with Ghost Stories. No let down to any of their ardent fans. In fact I can't wait to listen to the rest of the album if these 3 songs along could do the Magic ! Go ahead and pre order this amazing album.

- Truly Magic

Awesome, can't wait for the rest.

- Can't wait

Just release. Awesome album

- Beautiful crafted music

Music and lyrics take you on a journey.. Every song is brilliant.. It's top on the list for me

- Coldplay back in business!

With the glimpses of ghost stories as derived from magic and midnight, this album is surely going to make history and top all the charts. The songs are looking quite calm and meaningful.

- Coldplay legend!!

A sky full of stars!!!💙💙

- Oh my wow

Another great Album by Coldplay. Never loved them like I do now. Absolutely stunning music! Keep it going guys! ❤️

- Awesome!

Magic and Sky Full Of Stars are pretty amazing tracks! Cant stop listening to them :) :) :)

- Real magic...

- Always In My head

#GhostStories the whole album took alternatives to a whole new level . As per the previous outcomes of Coldplay I must say this is different . And it's like always in my head. Love you guys. #LoveColdplay

- Epicness !

The is the kind of music you can never get bored of, no matter how many times to keep listening to the same songs !

- Had to buy the album after listening to Sky Full if Stars!

Coldplay is getting more and more awesome! Sky full of Stars is such a beautiful song!

- Ghost Stories❤️

This is amazing..!!!

- Coldplay is my Rock!

I have this soulful attachment with Coldplay as their songs has rescued me from a state of mind I thought I could never get out of! Coming to this album.. Another's arm and Midnight were there for me when no one was. Then true love and Sky full of stars.. Magic! I love this album, and I love ColdPlay.

- Brilliant

another one from coldplay stable...songs are so addictive..this one is gonna rock

- I call it magic....!!!

- The well is dry

Being and artist that opens themselves up in an original and personal way is what I respect, so kudos to Martin for that. But.. there's only 1 instrument of note on this album, and that's Martin's voice, however it's a voice that's so painfully dry of energy and charisma that to listen to it for 45 minutes without any creative support by his band is enough to put listeners to sleep. I've listened to it, but I can't see myself bothering again.

- Album of the Year

This album is somewhat sad in a way, Chirs seems to have a lot of love to give in his life but with his break up from his wife i can see why there's so much sorrow in his voice... but i definitely love this album and cannot wait to play it on repeat.

- Amazing !!!!!

Just what u would expect from the greatest band ever. Each dong fantastic. Although disappointed that I didn't receive the digital booklet or the Magic remix that was stated I would receive when I purchased the album.

- UNIQUE

They’ve taken a different approach to this new album and its worked in their favour! the sounds are unique and completely encompass what they are all about! Love the whole theme of the album to! GHOST STORIES <3

- Awesome album

Brilliant album

- Call it magic

Great album. Well done.

- Brilliant!

A different side to Coldplay on this album. The lyrics are reflective and show a depth of emotion I haven't heard previously. Love the whole album!

- great new style

after a similar album with viva la vida, coldplay surprises me again by this release. a real stand-out among a few, a must have

- wowowow

they pulled it off again, one of the best bands has taken a change in a few of these songs adding bass and snare to many of there songs and it sounds great

- Amazing new sound

It's great that coldplay wanted to make an album with a more delicate sound. This album is perfect for when you want to have a tranquil evening. True love , always in my head and ink are hidden gems in this album. Magic, a sky full of stars and midnight are also amazing works of art. Even though ghost stories isn't an explosion of sound like Mylo Xyloto it is one of coldplay's best albums.

- Amazing

Coldplay, my favourite band, has once again continued to impress me with their unique style of music and deep, meaningful lyrics.

- Ghost Stories...

This album is good. And Bad. There are tracks that sound like they’re designed to be fodder for the World Cup goal round up segments, ( which starts in 3 weeks and you wonder if that’s why there are only 9 songs) and there are songs of pure genius. I like the new direction. I like the sound. I feel having listened to the album three times today, that I’m left wanting more though? This is an album for Coldplay fans. It won’t bring in newbies I fear.

- Ghosty Serene music. Pleasure to listen to.

Love the new and amazing style of Coldplay. Drastic contrast to the last album. But seriously LOVE this one.

- Hauntingly beautiful

The emotions, the lyrics, they all strike such a deep chord.

- Mesmerising

Coldplay never let's me down, the opening track, Always in my head is just stunning, I can't stop playing it over and over again, it washes over me and gives me a sense of peace that I cannot describe. The whole album is ethereal, heavenly, but that first track is my favourite, it stands out as a love song, but I think it is open to interpretation. When I first heard the lyric, it immediately made me think of my recently departed dad, that's where the feeling of peace came from... Thank you Coldplay, I'm sure this album will be my pick of 2014

- Problem is it's just dull

Admittedly I have relatively high expectations for a Coldplay record, but this disappoints. I get the new sound and moving along. I get the whole 'Divorce/relationship' thing. The problem with this is it's just dull and disinteresting. My mind wanders away from the music when I listen to it. Dylan did personal angst much better with Blood on the Tracks. That was compelling. For new quality interesting music try The Black Keys or Ian Anderson instead!

- Ghosts stories is a rippa

this album is absolutely amazing! Love every song. Chris and the boys have sure made a rippa of an album. Good onya boys keep em coming <3

- They've done it again!

This is one of the most gorgeous songs I've honestly ever heard and the fact that it is by Coldplay doesn't surprise me for a second!

- Love this album

I've just listened to the new album and absolutely love it!

- LOVED IT

Every song is so infectious! I love all of the tracks on Ghost Stories. Fantastic new release - keep it comin’ Coldplay!

- Ghost stories

SO good!

- Another Success

This album is fantastic to just chill out with alone and read a book or something. Coldplay is covering every genre, from fun pop beats like 'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall' a few years back to this new album of relaxing beats, I don't know what Coldplay can't accomplish! It is wonderful to take a break from all of the autotuned stuff you hear on the radio to this. I find it easier to connect with Chris's voice compared to the 'talented stars' nowadays. They know how to use a computer. Wooooo. Let's appreciate their amazing talents. Take note of my sarcasm! Chris, however, should be congratulated. His voice is sounding as beautiful as ever. The whole band has managed to produce a wonderful sound. It may only have 9 songs, but I still highly reccommend Ghost Stories. I think these songs won't get old after a few times listening, they're very replayable, and they'll keep you captivated for a very long time. Absolute genius. I've missed you, Coldplay! You surely didn't disappoint me with this new material.

- A simply glorious album :D

I’m happy to say that I can listen to every song on this album without getting bored or tired. It’s very soothing and relaxing to listen too and overall a very calming experience. Great work Coldplay!

- Amazinngg

I loooove this album. Only one critique and that is it's too short! I love how they've managed to incorporate so many of the styles of their previous albums in. It really is like parachutes combined with mylo xyloto. So good. My personal faves are Oceans and A Sky Full of Stars. Love it. Can't wait to hear this album live!! X

- Loving It!

I think this album is very different to others...AND IM LOVING IT! Honestly I think if Coldplay repeats the same style as before, people would become bored. This is why every album is different and the reason Coldplay has been successful more than a decade. This whole album is like a playlist - the complete package. Well done and a fantastic job Coldplay.

- Great Album

Although there is only 9 songs the album is worth every cent of $17.99! Magic, A Sky Full of Stars and Ink are easily the best 3 tunes on the album

- So Beautiful!

I’ve only listened to the previews so far and it’s a definite buy for me! This album is really beautiful, loving the new tunes!!

- Would give 4.5 if the option were here..

Album is definitely in a different direction, with a sombre and dark feel to many. Still grows on you greatly and have been listening on repeat for 24 hours. Apart from the singles, I really enjoy True Love, Another’s Arms, Ink and Always in My Head. Ghost Stories is also a decent song.

- Back to melancholy best

As a fan who loves Coldplay's first 2 albums(yes one of those) Ghost Stories has the melancholy lyrics I love but with modern beats. Love Midnight, True Love and a Sky full of Stars. Thank you guys!

- Great they still going strong

Coldplay still got it !!!!!!!!

- And they're back...

An amazing album with great songs that take you remind how good Coldplay are. If you haven't already, buy this album

- Another fantastic release!

This new album is really beautiful to listen to, songs like Magic, Midnight and Another’s Arms are just fantastic and A Sky Full of Stars is a really exciting song! Wonderful new album!

- Genius

Nothing more to be said.

- Album of the year

This album is brilliant. Love it. Best thing they have done. Layers, textures. Beautiful songs. Really makes you feel the emotions. Really struck a chord. Craft, ingenious, lush, layers, but also stripped back. They have done their best work. I so wanted an album like this from them. Well done guys. The best album you have made!!!

- Expensive

Odd that if you buy all the songs separately it is only 22 cents more. Good music though.

- AMAZING!!

Ghost Stories, the sound is different yes, but what would a band be if every album they released was exactly the same? This album is absolutely fantastic, truly a masterpiece. One listen and i was hooked, hooked on the Lyrics, melodies and simply great music, as they have always done. There are certainly no fillers on this album, Coldplay have produced another amazing LP. Standouts are too hard to pick!!

- Takes you back

Each song on this album complement one another brilliantly. Ghost Stories will take you on a soothing journey through love and loss. I love how multiple tracks grab inspiration from Coldplay's first album Parachutes, something which Coldplay fans will truly appreciate. This album beautifully represents the transition between Coldplay's old and new sound. I highly recommend Ghost Stories.

- Coldplay

Pure magic! Love it !

- ❤️

Absolutely love this album.

- AWESOME

I love it so much!!!!!!!! You must be crazy if you don't like this because it's AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- coldplay

love how mellow it is <3

- Deluxe edition!

When is the deluxe edition coming here to Australia!? The album is amazing!! <3

- wow

Just wow

- Best Coldplay writing so far.

Yes this album came from pure emotion, and that's what makes it so special. Chris Martin has really out done himself here and I certainly hope this expression gets him through this difficult time.

- Check out the Chris Martin x Zane Lowe interview

You can’t deny that this album caught a lot of people off guard - it’s a step in a different direction for Coldplay. If you look up the interview Zane Lowe did with Chris Martin on youtube you’ll get a better understanding as to the story behind most tracks in the album, I highly recommend it. It’ll leave you in tears.

- MAGICAL

I buy all my music and have bought a lot, I fell in love with Coldplay's new song Magic the first time I heard it, it became only the second Coldplay song I've ever bought, now tonight I am totally mesmerized by their new tracks and live TV special, I'm downloading Ghost Stories as I write this... Cold Play THANKYOU... Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!

- BEST ALBUM THANKS

SUUH GOOD!! Been so excited for this to come out!! Love Coldplay so much

- I was NEVER a Coldplay fan!

This album is amazing! I will now and forever consider myself a fan. I may be late to the party, but I am so glad I got there. This album speaks volumes to me. I watched them play the whole set on tv, it was sensational. You must buy this album. Each song is itself a beautiful story. This is now my favourite album!

- Offended

Calling this a mere album is offensive and doesn't give this masterpiece justice. This is not a collection of songs, it's an experience.

- Underwhelming

I have liked all of Coldplay’s albums from A Rush of Blood to the Head to Mylo Xyloto and was excited about Ghost Stories when I heard Midnight (not so much by Magic but that was also good). Due to my expectations of what the album would bring I pre-ordered. The moment A Sky Fall of Stars came out, however, I had second thoughts. A Sky Full of Stars is completely uninspired and is another crappy pop song that is typical in mainstream music. The other songs thankfully are not as bad but they lack substance. As such, they leave the album feeling boring. I love all of the other of Coldplay’s albums, Parachutes most of all, for the uniqueness that has defined the band so many times in the past. All their albums have an encompassing mood that compels me to listen to them. Even parachutes, despite being ‘mainstream’, is still alternative and engaging. Ghost Stories, on the other hand, just feels shallow and bland.

- Put it on Deezer

Why won't you put the Album on a Deezer so we can stream it if we wish. You still benefit financially.

- Beautiful, magical album!

Going back to why I fell in love with Coldplay in the first place. Emotive piece of work and can't stop playing it. Nice change of pace after the more frenetic, energetic stuff of late. Love love love this album!!

- Sublime!

Utterly gorgeous music. Put on the most expensive earphones you can afford. Close your eyes. Swim in it.

- Coldplay lost their way?

Worst album so far…have been a fan for longer than I care to admit, but this is bad. I will still listen to them, but as always, their earlier albums!

- Not their best

I am a massive Coldplay fan, but of late I have started to worry that they are loosing their way a little - this album does back this up in my mind. Yes it is Chris’s breakup album and some of the words in the songs do resonate with my own feelings during breaks ups in the past. so it is in that sense a thoughtful and cleaver album, where Chris and the band have managed to capture in words those breakup feelings we have probably all experienced. I hope this is the last of the “experimental” sounding albums from Coldplay, I still think their best albums are behind them, with Parachutes and Rush of Blood being albums I still like to listen to again and again, the others not so much. If you like Coldplay then you should probably get this, but it won’t be an album you will go back to frequently.

- What's happened

Hello, I just want to say, we're has the hit anthem type tunes gone, it's all sad and slow, and uninspiring, not uplifting and dosent make you want to sing to it. :/ I'm so sad. Some people will love it. I just think they've gone 👎

- Ghosts

Chris your a real man!!! Great album!!! Leanne England

- A Sky Full of Stars

Best song of 2014 easily, the beat is brilliant and it instantly puts me in a good mood! Love it!!!

- 9 track class

Quality over quantity any day for all the haters coldplay never let ya down

- Boring

One of the most boring albums I've listened to.. I would rather watch paint dry.

- ghost stories

cmon its great even for 9 songs

- Awesome!!

Brilliant album. A sky full of stars is a masterpiece!

- A very good album, actually

This is actually a really nice album. It's very mellow and light but the tracks have a nice clockwork feel and they go together really well, moving into each other like it's one long suite. It sounds like an album to listen to right before going to sleep at night. A very heavenly and interesting album with some happy moments. Sure, it gets a bit boring sometimes and the songs aren't as strong as the ones on their previous albums (though I prefer this album to Viva La Vida) but it does the job. Not perfect, but a nice album and worth the wait.

- Bit odd

Its a bit odd that its cheaper to by the songs individually but love them album well done again coldplay love love love it

- Unbelievable

This album is incredible, you just get lost in this music. The depth of emotion in all the songs truly makes this album as good as parachutes, or a rush of blood to the head. The band are so talented and I would strongly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys deep, emotional music or has enjoyed any of coldplays other albums.

- Fantastic

Great album

- best album in the world is.........

The Thin Line by Heather Peace, a must for every music collection

- its a grower

First listen and I was unsure but after a few listens I now think its brilliant. Yes it is different from there other albums but if you listen to the lyrics you can connect with them. Its a album to chill out too.

- Worst album, huge disappointment

I own every album of Coldplay, and each one is great. But this one seems done by a band that lost its mojo, no energy in the songs, no peak and even the lyrics are not as good as the past. It hurts to say that Coldplay are perhaps over! :(

- Good album overall

Admittedly, this album did start off a bit shaky but it has firmly launched itself up there into one of Coldplay's better albums. A completely stripped down approach has allowed the band to really get down to the real meaning of their music. Songs like Midnight and A Sky Full Of Stars have really put them on the map heading a new direction and as a true Coldplayer, I welcome it with open arms!

- CACKY PLOPS

If I were to give Cold Play any advice on recording their next record I would say "Get Rick Rubin to produce the album"! then we might have a return to form for these whiny, bordering irrelevent, hyper rock/pop/indie/ stars (so called)

- Cold Play Ghost

Great Sunday listening in the bath :-)) followed by a real coffee, and of course music that makes you feel good. Who cares if it's 3p cheaper to buy the album individually, ITunes get a grip please and ensure your followers are given the best value, don't dupe us!! I like the album keep it going Cold Play from Wascno

- who'd've thought?

Go back to before the Sting-like pilates and Hampstead studio Church of Wristband happy-clappy mylo-xyloto faux-ness, and remember the band where the singer walked along a beach singing a song with a massive chorus, and was refreshingly humble and engaging. This new one is an album (really!) which you need to sit down and listen to from start to finish, and let the music just take you somewhere. It's electronica crossed with Parachutes and that one they did with the white cover. I'm surprised and slightly embarrassed to say I love it!

- Brilliant!

Best coldplay album ever!very happy with all of the songs.love all of them!

I'm a bit surprised there's only 9 songs but lil overdue I'll also agree with some of the other reviews about the album mostly being about Chris and Gwyneths split (lil obvious really) but musicians do write songs or tracks more often than not based on their life experiences and it appears by the way the songs are worded that his separation from Gwyneth has hit him hard. Overall tho a good album. I listen over and over to this album regularly.

- Simply amazing

I love this album, its warm, melancholy and nostalgic.

- Who approved this?

Intermingled between some standard nice songs as you would expect from the usually brilliant coldplay this album turns into a joke of averageness, club remix sounding songs. Always in My Head starts the album but then proceeds to nose dive after that. Really disappointed in the guys at this album and for them to actually put sky full of stars on the album, I just feel embarrassed.

- Love it!!!!!!

I love Coldplay I have done for years . One of their best albums, some beautiful mesmerising songs. Bit dissapointed there wasn't more songs and I didn't get my digital booklet when purchasing this album?

- SAMIKA VLOGS

I just love magic ! It's incredible thank you dam and Jenika

- Just amazing

I love this album so much; at first- I didn't think much of it, but after a while it really grew on me. A Sky Full Of Stars is just awesome!!

- 1 out of 9

Just by Sky Full of Stars. If Chris and the guys think this is the way forward do a U turn quick for all our sakes.

- Quality

Coldplay once again have produced another amazing album. Definitely worth the money!!!!

- Gutted

Loved these guys since dot but they have got progressively worse over time, I've argued their merits for years with the 'they are boring club'. It is said by many that they are boring and depressing. This album proves them right, I can argue no more. Utterly, horrendous, drivel.

- Fantastic

I love this album, well worth the wait as a Fathers Day present! 🚜

- Magic

Any doubters or those questioning the sincerity of the lyrics should watch his interview with Zane Lowe. Coldplay have delivered again, and actually a similar sound to Parachutes record which is what many fans fell in love with.

- Love

Love love love this album. Old school Coldplay with a twist. Cannot wait for tour.

- Love it and very apt

Written at a time when personal stuff never meant as much to Chris. It's a journey album that has a great story to tell. The 'Ghost Stories - Film' represents the album and song order really well. Thumbs up guys.

- Another disappointed fan!

Coming from the energy of Mylo Xyloto, this just put me to sleep. Wish I hadn't wasted £9 now.

- No longer Coldplay, now just a pop band

I have liked all of coldplay's albums my favorites still being Parachutes and Rush of blood to the head but there are some of the best songs in their recent albums. This album isn't typical coldplay its very pop and targeted to the main stream, nearly all of it is electronic and synth. May be they wanted to change thier style to appeal to the mainstream. I would prefer them to write songs usings drums, bass, gutar and piano not a computer. One or 2 of there songs are ok, (Ocean, O)

- Breathtakingly beautiful

What a great band, connect so well, tell a beautiful story of love and loss and their music always evolving to something different, bigger and better, please don't split or ever stop making music, your music gives me shivers down my spine x

- Beautiful pain exposed

Love it it's so personal and beautiful although 9 songs Fly by and don't quite feel enough

- Magic

The track sums up the album. Their best album to date. More of the same please.

- Okay

Songs are not that amazing and it's cheaper to buy them separately. 8.99 for the album or 8.51 individually

- Track 9 is chilled out

Track 9 is chilled out so if you want something chilled out this is for you.

- Beautiful heartfelt album

I already liked this album, but i have just recently viewed the interview with Zane Lowe and appreciate it even more. I have been a Coldplay fan for many years and they never disappoint me.

- Coldplay

I absolutely love this album. I've loved coldplay since I was a child and still they are just as good as they were back then. So worth £9!

- Different but similar

Ok, so it's mellow and Chris Martin is trying to get a lot off his chest, judging by the lyrics. On first listening I was uninspired - the songs were banal and lacked energy. But I have now listened half a dozen times and the album has grown on me. It is my go to bed music , as it relaxes me and helps me nod off. Best song is Magic, but many of the songs just merge into one. Many won't like it, so hopefully having got this one out of the way we will see Coldplay roar back with their follow up album, which I hope is released soon. I like Ghosts, but many won't.

- Disappointed

Hm, 3 tracks on here that I'll listen to again but the rest ..... Feels like the tracks were written in a rush. This is the Chris Martin Show not Coldplay unfortunately

- Abysmal

Have been a Coldplay fan for many years and have loved their wonderfully crowd inclusive anthems that make their live shows fantastic events to attend. However, I doubt I will be going to the next round of concerts that will showcase the drivel on this album. Just don't see how any song, apart from the semi-decent "A sky full of stars", will hold the audience's attention. If Mr Martin wanted to issue a useless bunch of self-indulgent rubbish then he should have done what Phil Collins did and issue a solo album - at least we got the classic "In the air tonight" of that one. Very Poor - get back to what your fans want Coldplay, and QUICK!!!

Awesome album. 👌

- Splendid Touch Of Class

The older they grow, the wiser their songs. I'm a BIG fan, I can't spend money on any other group than this. Deserved kudos.

- Magic

Classic And MAGICAL🌟

- Nice
