I just bought the CD some days ago and I can not stop to listening it. This is a very good prepared album with some touches of 70's on HELL & BACK, 80's Battle Cry, Cold Blooded and Beginning of the End, and 90's Redemmer of Souls and Valhalla. I just pray for these guys to continuing on the road for several years. The music now a day from others new bands is terrible.
The the guitar, drums, and and overall composition of the songs is great. But the singing sounds like when and 80 year old man gets up to sing to his wife at karaoke night at the retirement home; rendering the entire album impossible to enjoy. This album just never should been made.. Or a different singer or style should've been used.
filly like these ppl
The production on this album is terrible. Very muddy. Only a few of the songs stand out. Unfortunately, not enough to make this relevant. I love Priest, don’t get me wrong, but I really think their best years are behind them.
Redeemer is an incredible addition to the Priest archive. Each song pays tribute to a time in Priests career and that is nothing but a treat! This album is what true British metal is: straight-on, in your face, head-banging fun!
Hard & Heavy, enough said. I love it.
Finally, a Priest album with the talent of Richie Faulkner included. Thank you, guys, for the forward march of heavy metal British steel. Great band. Great men.
Judas Priest is back with another great album. It’s very much what you might expect from this band without being repetitive. They also have written a great variety of songs on Redeemer, classic heavy priest style songs like Dragonaut and March of the Damned are flanked by mellower tunes like Beginning of the End, that friends have told me takes them back to Sad wings of Destiny! Overall a very solid piece of work, can’t wait for the tour!
It's great to see the metal gods still got it
A very solid effort by the Metal Gods! In the style of classic Priest, anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly not listening!
been listening to priest since early 80's. seen them live many times over. let me tell you this album rocks! all hail the godfathers of heavymetal........
Classic sounding Priest. Listen to Rob's screams on Halls of Vahalla.
After their last release, Nostradamus, Judas Priest seemed to be out of gas in my eyes. They were still good live, but Nostradamus was just all wrong in my eye for Priest. Just wasn't something that suited them very well. On a smaller scale, Nostradamus was an excellent concept. Maybe a two part song would have been better, but either way, this album is great. Personally, I found every song here aside of the title track to be very strong, even the middle part that many are saying is rather weak so far I really enjoyed. I also greatly enjoyed the bonus tracks.
Judas is back and the album is simply the best.
heavy metal the way it should be not this this sfuff of today
After the bewildering release "Nostradamus", many metal fans thought that the time had come for Priest to call it a day. And then, with the early retirement of K.K. Downing before the Epitaph Tour even started, many more metal fans came to the same conclusion. After hearing all 18 tracks on "Redeemer Of Souls", any Priest or metal fan will realize there is still much life left inside the Priest Beast. New guitarist Richie Faulkner cowrote all 18 songs with Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton; and it is apparent that he knows what he is doing. I don't know if he is channeling K.K., or if he has spent so many years learning all the licks and leads, but he is a natural fit into the writing process. There isn't one song on this album that disappoints. Halford may not be singing in the high range as he did, but his voice is still loud and powerful as ever. Glenn did an awesome job with his guitar wizardry, as well as co-producing the album. Ian Hill and Scott Travis did their best as the rhythm section of the Priest pounds into your skull. There are so many songs on here that will easily be in their live set, and will stand proudly along with all of the songs in the Priest catalog.
While I appreciate their periods of "musical exploration" I was ready for another classic-style Priest album...and I got it. I downloaded the first two pre-releases (Redeemer and March) and dug them but after hearing the rest of the album I am even more satisfied. Dragonaut...WOW! The Deluxe version is definitely the way to go if you are a long time fan, the additional 5 tracks rock! The production does seem a bit "old school," which I imagine was intentional, but these songs still hit hard and reminds you that they are still going strong. The Metal God's voice sounds awesome and their new guitarist fits right in. Well done!
Metal classic straight through to the end - Enough said!
Thanks for being there ……………………………..
I'm awesome
Good to hear JP back writing songs with melodies. Their last few albums were ok but had no real hooks.
just proud they are still jaming.#keep the faith.
These songs remind me of the earlier years of more melodic and hook filled songs. It's a really good album.
This album won't grab you up and take you away immediately like most of Priest's older albums but this album just gets better with every listen. I have had this record for over a week now and I'll tell you that it just keeps getting better with me. I'm not crazy about the production. I think that it's too muddy sounding for priest. It should have more of a punch to the gut but the songs get stronger as the record goes on. The second half of the album is WAY better than the first half and deserves to be given time to soak in. This isn't the greatest record Priest has ever done, but it's still great once given several listens.. I'm just so happy that they are still making quality music and it is still relevent.
Not liking the new Judas Priest- Been a fan for over 25yrs and was expecting a re-birth of Hell bent for Leather or Stained Class. this ain't it very disappointed guys.
To the knucklehead who would rather hear Ripper over Rob, you need your freakin' head examined!!!!
Sounds like Judas Priest. If you like Priest you will like this. If not then you won’t.
I absolutely love this new material! There are elements of each classic era with modern recording. LOVE March of the Damned, Sword, Redeemer of Souls!!! Looking forward to catching you all out on tour this year!
There's a few great songs on this album, but overall it felt like they didn't put there heart into it. The sound quility isn't that great either.
Dragonaut? Redeemer of Souls? More post-apocalyptic comic book characters? Metal today should be about our reality, not fantasy creatures. And as we've all faced reality, so should Priest. As Glenn now owns Priest, he should tap in to that reality and make a statement. We're needing that! Come on Glenn - make Priest relevant again! The tour will be the telling- they will do a few songs from this album, but they will rely upon the classics they made to sell seats. That is where Priest now lives. And that is how they will be remembered. Such is the way way of aging Metalers!
This has been my favorite band for awhile now and I have loved every album, and this album is no exception. It's an amazing album and im not just saying that because its Judas Priest. I am a big critic when its about this band because I have been a loyal fan. This album lives up to my expectations and then some. It rips your face off but then gets beautiful with songs like Beginning of the end and Never Forget. Even the bonus songs are fantastic. If I had to choose a few favorites I would say Sword Of Damocles Battle Cry, Crossfire, Secrets of the Dead, Halls of Valhalla but really all of them. I do agree with the production at times isnt too good especially in Metalizer, seems like they just said screw it turn up everything really loud and make the double kick sound bad when you crank it and guitar at times is really muddy. But that being said it is a fantastic album and another cd that i will rock forever! Always will be a Diehard Priest fan
They still got it, even in their 60s. This album is great all around. There is no song that I don't like. Rob still can belt out those tunes. Judas Priest still can rock it out, then most bands their age. Love this album, I have been playing it over and over all day today.
This is how a rock/metal album should sound like. Some are complaining that this does not sound like Exciter, Sinner or The Ripper. IT SHOULD NOT SOUND LIKE 1976 and 1978! This group always evolves; they have again, brilliantly, with this album. The group sounds better today, with the 3 original members in their 60's, than most newer groups. I am 42; have followed and listened to JP since the early '80s. This album nails it...
I admire this band's endurance and longevity as an important and essential patriarch of metal music, however I feel they should have stopped with Nostradamus and that this album wasn't really necessary to make in my opinion. The production (like a lot of big name albums these days) is not the best and the mastering is way too loud. I liked a few songs (Sword of Damocles and Beginning of the End for example) and it has its moments here and there, but it's nothing spectacular to be honest. Hopefully other people can find more stuff from this album that they can revisit than I have. Overall, I felt a bit underwhelmed.
judas priest on fire
This band was not my cup of tea back in the day,,,, but to see them again trying to cash in on the rise of demon filled music is just sad. I would have thought this was just a phaze and that they might want to change there ways. knowing that they're a few years older .
Not sure how one cannot like this! Classic Priest. Great Riffs! Halford sounds awesome!
I was not captivated by this album as i was the rest of their albums. Perhaps it is because K.K isn’t in it anymore. When he left, Priest died…to me. I can’t enjoy this and i thought i would share it. The guitar sound is weak, thin and underpowered. Songs like “Ram it Down” and “Turbo Lover” and “Love Bites” “Sinner,” those songs have such a rich guitar sound and i think that that is because of K.K. This new guy may be a fantastic guitar player, i am not disparaging him at all, but the vibe and feel is not Judas Priest.
This is, hands down, JP's best release since Defenders of the Faith. The melodies and chorus sections are fantastic. I've listened to it a dozen times and it's not getting old, it's getting better. Some people have said, "why isn't Halford constantly screaming, like on Painkiller?" If you ask me, he gives us the most vocal variety since Hell Bent for Leather. Awesome album. I didn't like Nostradamus at all, and so this great album is just a wonderful, wonderful surprise. Christmas in July!
The greatest band of all time once again delivers the goods with another amazing metal album that nobody but them could produce. Cant wait to see them live on the upcoming tour.
I've been a long time fan of JP. I've owned and listened to all their work from cassette tapes through CDs and now here. Their latest work is truly impressive. The energy of the album is unbelievable when considering their age. If you have your doubts, this album is worth it. The new guitarist filled some big shoes and pulled it off. The last song is a touching thank you to all of us, the fans. Long live the PRIEST!
Such a killer album!!!
The days of the real Judas Priest are long gone. This is just more pop metal from a once truly great real metal band. Right up there with Mastodon's latest trash as one of the worst albums of the year & of all time of metal. What an utter disgrace they've all become.
The PRIEST lives !!!!
Great tunes, which would be done far more justice if the mix were better. I mean, the mix is actually AWFUL in some places. Hoping it’s an issue with iTunes. I can’t believe JP would release this with such a terrible mix.
only a great band could still make relevent music decades after releasing thier first album
Awesome album!! The Metal Gods do it again!! Love Priest!!!
The Priest are back....Redeemer of souls smokes!! If you like stain glass... and unleash in the east... you will like redeemer of souls. It"s better than painkiller... Richie delivers the goods... secrets of priest fans...metal gods are smiling.. my favorite singers are rob halford and Sammy Hagar... watch 300 rise of an empire... while listening to redeemer of souls in it's entirety...or listen to redeemer of souls full cd...then watch 300 rise of an empire... Rich 51 from St Louis...k-she and judas priest..
Yes this is a very typical priest album. Songs are solid. My only problem is the production. Tipton should stick to songwriting and playing and avoid producing. Just a suggestion. Music is good despite that.
For Christ sake, give the album a few listens it will only get better just like every other classic metal album did back in the day!! If it doesn't grow on you well ok!
