I gave this album another chance and it was much better than I thought it was at first. I think this is Madonna's best album! She went downhill after this album.

This album is pure magic. I suggest you buy a hard copy. This music isn't for everyone and for the newer youngsters I think this would be to much. Her voice is crystal clear and her lyrics perfectly penned. If your wanting something deep, melodic, and danceable this album has you covered. I hope her new album goes back to this magical place :)

Honestly. I don't get the love for this album. Ray of Light, Frozen, and The Power of Goodbye are the only best ones on here. Everything else is boring. Some of it even puts me to sleep. It sounds like Bjork's Vespertine album. Sorry. I don't like when Madonna is all ballads. I need variety. This doesn't have much of that, to me.

This came out in 98 and I was really into the rave scene. This album captured that time perfectly. Drowned World in this deep blue pit of creativity.

I'm not a die hard Madonna fan. I do like some of her songs. I could listen to this album from beginning to end. I was a freshman in high school when it came out & it was total different from what I normally listened it to. I remember sitting in my room after school. Anyway,I'm 28 & I still love it. I highly recommend this album.

This album is beautiful in every way. Its style of music is unique nd sounds like none of the music coming out back then nd even modern music these days which makes this album unique timeless. Once i took the time to listen to all the songs and really understand the lyrics, i fell in luv with this album. The first listen through wasn't 5-star worthy, but once you get to listen a few times to each song, you'll appreiciate each one. I was a bit unsure about buying this at first, because I'm more of a pop kind of guy, not poetic like this, but dance-pop, but all of these songs are great in their own way. Fav. This album is WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME!!Obviously,it should've won Album Of The Year at the 1999 Grammy Awards....GET THE ALBUM NOT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!

And this album cemented that title.

She came and changed the world but by 1998,Madonna released an album that was almost magical in every sense of the word, Whether it was another commercial ploy or brought about the changes of mother hood is besides the point,magic! Sadly,this kinda stuff would prove the end to an enchanting pop factory that is Madonna in all her glory. Foward to 2012 and MDNA is just yet another heap of commercial nonsense best suited for a much lesser and unimportant starlet,Nicky Minaj. Released in 1998,Ray Of Light offered a great array of electronica and pop ballads that were both danceable and inspirational. This is Madonna at her best,at her game and most personal of her entire catalog since 1988's Like A Prayer. Madonna's post Ray Of Light releases would pander to the dancefloor junk that's a dime a dozen. Nothing much sticks out post Ray of Light as significant,artistic nor catshy in the American collective conscience.

I will admit, one of her best albums in her career. The quality of the album is very unique. Her voice and production is well put together. It has such a mature sound to it. Even though I would have liked to hear more songs similar to Ray Of Light, (the 3rd track I think) it's still good.

probabaly her best work. besides 1992' 'Erotica' the song 'Skin' is the standout for me,it should have been a single it would have been #1 on the dance charts. the song 'Frozen'- i would honestly call it The Best Of Her Career. its such a masterpeice. the song 'Ray Of Light' isnt my favorite. 'Nothing really matters' is reall cool. 'Sky Fits heaven' is almost sounding like a follow up to 'Skin' other standouts are 'Candy perfume Girl' 'The Power of goodbye' 'Swim'

The first time I heard 'Ray of Light' I was simply blown away! The album is Madonna at her best, her voice sounds amazing in every track, the lyrics are personal and meaningful and the production value is simply flawless. Truly one of the greatest albums of all time. My personal favorite songs are: Drowned World, Swim, Frozen, Sky Fits Heaven and Skin. A must have for any Madonna fan or non.

This is no doubt her flagship album. Serious, direct and intelligent. Madonna made no mistake. The song FROZEN is one of her best songs ever. She transforms herself into this ethereal, mother-of-earth persona, and the fans LOVE IT.

This is really Madonna at her best. I love this album and could listen to it over and over and over. I had to come out here and write this review because I cannot believe people (probably fanboys) are saying MDNA is the new Ray of Light, or MDNA is better than Ray of Light. Well, that is so NOT true. MDNA is okay..and just okay...kind of silly really. Maybe silly was her intent for MDNA. Anyway, ROL is a real masterpiece and I want more of that Madonna.

Picked this album up at Borders in the 10th or 11th grade. Definitely has been with me ever since. The album is heartfelt, and everything flows so beautifully!

This is simply Madonna's finest hour, musically and lyrically speaking. From beginning to end this album takes you on one amazing personal journey. Ever since its released date it automatically became my favorite Madonna album. I've been a fan of her work since the times of Erotica, and I missed this Madonna, the one that remembered that is all about the music, not about sales, or 'featuring' someone in your songs so they can help you sell more. Even the artwork on this album is pretty refreshing. God save the Queen!

Being my second Madonna album, I didn't have clear expectations of the music. I just heard that it was Madonna's comeback album after "Bedtime Stories" and that it was really good. I heard it once, then twice. And none of the songs stuck onto my head. I really liked "Ray of Light." "Substitute of ove," and "Swim." However, after several more listens the album began to grow on me. And now, it is one of my favorite Madonna albums. The only "not so good" songs are: "Skin," "Mer Girl," and "Shanti." Daring to compare it to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," I'll have to say that it takes time to grow on you but when it does, it sticks.....

I sure was and in pure pop delight and euphoria when this album was released 15 years ago. I can positively say that this is one of my favorite Madonna albums of the 90s. Fave tracks are: Frozen, Ray of Light, Nothing Really Matters, To Have And Not To Hold, Skin, and Little Star.
