metallica and justice for all is an awesome album
Needs bass but overall itās amazing Jason shouldāve gotten the opportunity to be in this album he is but he isnātā¦.
i really think they are kinda a dylan of the 90 but for anything thay are metallica from day1 to they all be gone, take it or leave it, its tallica ~_^
The original was better but this is one of my favorite Metallica albums.
What can I say? This CD/Album has stood the test of time. Nothing else sounds quite like it, TO THIS DAY!!!
Awesome
This album, despite the missing bass is perfect. One of my favorite songs ever, Blackened, is my favorite track of the album. The sound really keep the vibe of the lyrics and song writing. One was the first ever Metallica song I listened too. Even though at first I didnāt understand it, it soon became one of my favorite songs! And it still is. A 10/10 album, 5th favorite Metallica album. MY RANKING 1. Blackened 2. One 3. ā¦And Justice For All 4. Dyers Eve 5. Harvester of Sorrow 6. The Shortest Straw 7. Eye Of The Beholder 8. The Frayed Ends Of Sanity 9. To Live Is To Die
Kind of a hot take, but itās just a little bit overrated. The guitar sound isnāt the best, and thereās a handful of forgettable songs on this album. But the highs of Justice, are really really high. One is arguably the best Metallica power ballad, blackened is an amazing opener, and dyers eve is a great ending to their 4th LP
The snare drum sounds like when my cat would claw at the window.
This is a good song for this band
Despite the "there's no bass comments" this is an incredible album. Not a single bad song.
No, Jason did not agree to the mix. At least not willingly. Even the producers of the album were reluctant to do so. James and Lars are great, but the truth is, they were just really selfish on this album. They both wanted to be heard the most out of the group, and Jasonās sick bass playing got totally screwed. If they left in the bass this album would probably be their best. Listen to remixes where the bass is actually there, improves ā...And Justice For Allā SIGNIFICANTLY.
I love this album. I love harvester of sorrow and one. Those are my favorite on this album. Some other I suggest are shortest straw and the title track ...and justice for all. It might be an almost 10 minute song but all 9 minutes and 46 seconds are great.
This is my favorite Metallica album, and Jason is my favorite bassist for Metallica, and I feel bad that they turned him down a lot, but I think the guitar was freaking awesome in this album. āThe Shortest Strawā and āThe Frayed Ends Of Sanityā are my favorites. To James and Kirk, the best guitar players of all time. š¤šøšøšøš„

You can hear the bass to a point in the songs but turning it down in recording was a whole band choice! This album is great & the best album this band ever did!
Far superior to crappy Megadeth. Period. My top three favorite songs in this album are āBlackenedā āOneā and āDyers Eveā. But all the songs are dope. āā¦And Justice for Allā is way too extended but overall a great song. Such unique solos and riffs. Metallica forever!!!š¤š»š¤š»š¤š»
This has to be one of the best albums Metallica put out.. after this one I stopped buying their stuff due to the change an moving to radio play
One star because of Lars dropping the bass line. Download should only cost $7.50 because itās only 75% of the sound. Listen to and justice for Jason on YouTube and hear how great the album was.
I love metallica donāt get me wrong but you guys shouldāve kept both versions of all their albums. This also applies to other artists as well.
i grew up with this and it brings back memories
Everyone knows what happened after Master of Puppets, but that still doesnāt explain why Metallica toned down the bass on ā¦And Justice For All. It makes for trippy listening, as the music is still heavy yet the nearly unlistenable bass makes this one have a peculiar sound. Compositionally though, AJFA is top notch with some underrated and lesser known Metallica songs like Eye of the Beholder and the Shortest Straw. Along with Rust In Peace by Megadeth, AJFA helped create the progressive metal genre and thus is a highly essential album in that field, although the strange production keeps it just inches away from Ride the Lightning and MOP levels of glory. My favorite track is the heaviest (as is usually the case with me and Metallica albums), which is the disturbingly morbid yet shockingly relatable Harvester of Sorrow. The riff is fittingly nasty with the dark lyrical content, and its simplicity just another tool to make things more messed up. After this album is when Metallica fans became giant a**holes, and unbearable idiots though I concur that their classic period was nearing the end and it would end with 1991ās Metallica, because many new bands kept pushing the boundaries created by Metallica into uncharted realms to create death metal and black metal. Weird production yes, but donāt pass this one over. One is ubiquitous anyway, so why avoid it?
No doubt in my mind! This is amazing!
This is literally the best music I ever have and will here.
So what thereās no bass? Itās way better that the crappy modern metal that all sound poppy. I love it and itās tone is perfect
I have been a Metallica fan for a very long time now and let me just say that in my opinion the is the album that has the most emotion and meaning... not in just the vocals but also the guitar work. The story behind the album is sad but very interesting... RIP Cliff. āOneā is the very first song that Iāve covered ever that has a fast solo and that song is my favorite song ever. This album will always hold a special place in my heart and this is just Metallica at itās finest.
All of the problems society has finally become more aware of, Metallica was singing about in the 80s. They say the art proceeds the times. Metallica nailed it on all levels with the title song.
This album marks the end of an era for Metallica. In my humble opinion, their best era. Not knocking the newer stuff ( itās great ). This, along with the first three albums are stellar and really defined them as the progressive thrash metal band they were at that time. Stand out tracks: Every song
An all-time great metal album, but plagued by horrible sound quality. This remaster is an improvement, but not enough. They need to re-record this album from scratch. Note-for-note like Taylor Swift is doing. Itās the only way to do (ahem) ⦠justice to this album.
Great follow up album. Completely different lyrics and dimension from the previous albums. With their loss of Burton they created a pretty good line up of songs and even added the awesome instrumental āTo live is to dieā. The best and needed song especially in these days of blurred truths and PC lies, listen to āEye of the Beholderā read the lyrics and apply to your everyday mindset!
This album is on par with Metallicaās other 80s albums imo. Sure the bass is non existent but it doesnāt kill the album for me. Eye of the Beholder, Blackened, FEoS, One, and Harvester of Sorrow are all great songs as is.
Donāt listen to the bad bass reviews. The album is just fine. Awesome Metallica in all their glory. The other people must be trying to listen to it on old fashioned car radios with crappy speakers. I have no problem at all heating and feeling the bass with my Bose, or in my car with my pioneer deck.
The bass to the mix ?
Aight so I know a lot of your guys reviews about this album are mostly complaining about missing bass (a fact I didnāt know about until I made this review) but your all still overlooking that the music still sounds great without the bass. And for all you purists out there it dosent make a huge difference with or without bass still quality music and one of my favorite Metallica albums ever (I own it on cd)
One of there best albums that they have released and such a great and crazy album!!! I give it a 5 star rating!
Nope, lacking bass cause of one particular member. Toilet.
Man what can I say about this album itās definitely a great album and itās definitely all there for sure I love the Energy from Metallica dude if anything I would I have loved to seen some footage of them in the Studio making and justice for all 100% good album bro š¤š»š¤š»
Really, Jason agreed to no bass? What was he supposed to do. Disagree? Listen to the enhanced version on YouTube. It sounds way better. Sorry Metallica, you made a mistake because of your own vanity!
Bass makes a BIG differenceā¦please re-release with bass in mix.
Amazing
I really love āOneā but a lot of the songs on this album are kinda repetitive riffs. Doesnāt mean they arenāt all bangers tho! Best ones imo: one, blackened, and justice for all, harvester of sorrow. The other songs sound very similar to each other, but still great. Definitely in my top 3 albums.
It seems that everyone is a āno bassā expert these days. (Listening to too many YouTube reviewers.) I was just out of college when justice came out in 1988, and I donāt recall anyone in those days complaining about the bass or lack there of.
Thereās a new remastered album with the bass turned up so you can hear it perfectly. Look up āAnd Justice for Jasonā¦ā on YouTube.
Their best hands down before they went boring hard rock and commercial
Bring back whatever it was. Seriously. Really though. Bring it back.
I know people love these songs, but I can't listen to it. Not just no bass, but the drum mix sounds like Lars was playing on a $50 electric toy drum pad. Even the guy who mixed it says it was a mistake (look it up on YouTube).
Even though I own this version already I wouldnāt buy it again even if remastered. Nothing new added to this this remastered version. Thankfully, I downloaded the YouTube remastered version with Jasonās bass playing enhanced on the album which in my opinion was the best version of this album. Regardless why the reasons why they wanted to keep the bass guitar muted the YouTube bass enhanced version will always be the remastered version of this album and not this one they are selling on iTunes. Iām a big Metallica fan but I wouldnāt recommend buying this album when their is a superior version on YouTube worth listening all over again sounding far better with the bass guitar enhanced.
For over 30 years, a large number of fans have complained about the noticeable lack of bass on the AJFA album. The most common rumor is that James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich told their mixer to turn the bass way down as a way of giving the figurative finger to their new bassist, Jason Newstead, who joined the band after the untimely death of original bassist and friend Cliff Burton. Whatever actually happened, what canāt go unnoticed is that, despite being a great album overall, the mix lacks a strong bass sound. If you go on YouTube, youāll find ā......And Justice for Jasonā remixes where fans have added the bass back into the album. I would say the bass in this official remaster lies somewhere in between the original mastering and the YouTube remixes. Compared to the original, I feel like I can hear the bass noticeably more, but I only feel it a little bit more. Hetfield stated in an interview that they decided not to increase the bass in the mix for this remaster because, for better or worse, AJFA is a part of their history and they wanted to stay true to it. Still, I think this remaster does make the bass more noticeable. Regardless of the bass, the album sounds amazing! The instruments all sound clean and clear. Itās very well put together, and the songs are great throughout. One of Metallicaās best albums, imho!!
The bass the bass. Blah. Album is a straight masterpiece in metal.
Does remastered mean Jason is on the album now? Lol
