It sounds absolutely awful and hurts your ears on an amplified system. I was a little worried the audio would cause speaker damage also. Would have given it five stars otherwise.

This album is terrible.
It’s a major departure from her previous work, and trades synth dance like Icona Pop or sampled hip-hop in the vein of Portishead for emotional segues to... emotional segues.
The entire album sounds like Kanye West on auto tune, with the exception of 1999 with Troye Sivan and Gone with Christine and the Queens.
Similar to Taylor Swift, her recent efforts sound like a Payless Shoe Sale where you figure it out yourself for a massive bargain on streaming services.
Charli XCX has at least 90 minutes of great music in her catalogue. The same could be said of Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea and Camila Cabello.
If you’re willing to listen through 5 albums to make your own mix, then you might just love Charli XCX, or Taylor Swift, or Iggy Azalea.
That said, I’d prefer to spend $14.99 for someone to curate an hour for me, then to spend $9.99 for unlimited music delivered in this format.

tzf14 - The people saying this album sounds genericMost likely didn’t even listen to the whole album. Charli xcx is one of the most experimental and emotional pop artists out there. She continues to push the P.C. Music sound into the mainstream as she blends the two as if they were always the same. You can see this as a pop album, you can see it as an experimental A.G. Cook one, but either way, charli is the most impressive thing happening in mainstream music right now.

cachexicvvitch - A beautiful album from Charli!If you've been following Charli for the past few years and have come to appreciate her avant-garde songwriting and production, you will appreciate Charli. It is both easy and a challenge to believe that this is the same woman who released True Romance just nine years ago! The lineage is clear but, in a side-by-side comparison, they are completely different. This album has more in common with Number 1 Angel than Pop 2 with it's pop anthems. If you liked either of those, pick this up.
