I wish I would have read these first... I downloaded "Indiana wants me" expecting the song I remember from years ago. It is so different I now need to learn how to delete a song from my library (something I have not had to do so far...lol)
This is garbage. I can't believe that I wasted my money on this. Lesson learned, just because it doesn't say "re-recording" doesn't mean it's not a rerecording.
The money I just saved will gladly go toward my next root canal. The drill will have a better sound mix than this pile of rehashed leftovers
Hello I want to thank you for telling the rest of us it is not the original signers who we love. I would fight for credit back it does say re recorded but that could be a better quality of song not different people. THANK YOU!

Unfortunately I bought this before reading reviews and did not see in the description, these are re-recorded versions. I get why they do this but if you are expecting the songs you remember from fm radio long ago, look elsewhere. Most sound fine and are true to the original recordings in terms of being almost exact duplicates with the original vocalists (a few older and aged though) but they all sound like lifeless covers now. The smooth original mixes have been replaced by clean, clear, digital layers that are just overly bright and harsh sounding.

In Hades, and let's face it-pretty much all of us are going there, this is the only music we get. Re-recordings. We'll be jamming red hot burning embers in our ears just to avoid hearing these pathetically limp and soulless tunes.

The songs are listed as if they're actually by the original artists, but they're not. Isn't that some kind of illegal infringement? So how could that be available on iTunes, with the music industry lawyers watching every move?

Maybe by 2024, for the 50th anniversary, I will finally be able to purrrrrchase and download the ORIGINAL 1974 version of "The Night Chicago Died." This is a bunch of lousy rerecordings of great songs. Avoid these rerecordings!

I just bought this album and within 5 mins, deleted each and every song from my collection. Not one song here is the version people are looking for. This is a crooked scam to steal your money and Apple should be ashamed.
Might not be the original artist, but still done well. Worth the WHOLE $5.00 I spent. The negative commenters need to remember, "You get what you pay for!"

I wish i read the reviews. They are all correct. These are not remastered songs they are done over and are not originals. They are all missing elements and will leave you wanting. Do not waste your money.

Undercover Angel - Alan O'Day sounds great and is worth buying. Skip the other re-recordings.

There really needs to be a disclaimer or warning to let the consumer know when it's not the original music. I'm deleting these Songs from my account. They are second rate at best. Giving it any star is a joke.
These are not the original artists. Don't buy if you're looking for the originals.
Most of these songs are re-recorded. The vocals appear to be by the original artists. But it sounds to me like they used the same studio band for all the songs. I assume this was to get around the copyrights of the original songs by creating new recordings. Many of the songs are very close to the original hit. In others this sounds a bit more mellow than the original. I assume that’s because the artist at the time of the re-recording was older and of course it is definitely not the original bands as far as I can tell. For the price of this album - about $6 when I downloaded it, it’s a good value for all the songs. But it’s not quite the same as the original hits for the reasons I mentioned.

I was excited about seeing a bunch of the basically one hit wonders I grew up listening to in one compilation, failed to see they were RE-RECORDED versions of these songs albeit by the original artists. What I’m saying is don’t waste your money because you’ll be disappointed like myself, if you grew up enjoying the original version of these great songs
Recorded in someone's garage, with broken bicycles and greasy rags on the background; thin, reedy, off tempo. Yellow River is very, very, close to the original, but isn't quite there.
Apple gives no indication prior to purchase that these are not original recordings so you don’t find out that they are pure crap until after you buy it. Absolutely horrible. I would give it zero stars if that were an option.
As far as I can tell a majority (if not all) are performed by the original recording artists. If you are nostalgic these are the songs that will bring back some memories. There are 8 songs here that I REALLY wonted but for the price heck, went ahead and downloaded all.

Don't buy this junk. Usually there is a notation if a song is re-recorded but I did not see one on this pile of junk. These are poorly re-done and sound horrible. These songs would never have been popular the way they are presented here. I am very dissappointed. I will be looking to see if there is any way to get a refund.
Bought this late at night with a song or two in mind. Thought maybe my memory was bad when I first heard a few of them, but realized that these indeed do not sound nearly like the originals. What a ripoff and disservice to these artist and to us the customer! I listened again a bit and heard what is supposed to be Paper Lace. What a joke! I guess joke on me. Terrible. I’d give it zero stars really.

Re-recorded versions of famous pop songs. This is usually done to avoid paying someone and/or save money, These versions are poorly done and will depress you.
Not original songs
ITunes had the good sense to place "Rerecorded" next to each song title. Thus, it should be taken as such. One song, Alan O'Day's "Undercover Angel". appears to be the only hit version on here. And, it is as I remembered it. I would still concur that these versions are not that great.
Rerecordings of oldies should be banned, as in illegal.

I don't understand, those of you who bought this & were very dissapointed have no one to blame but themselves. That's why ITunes allows us to sample EVERYTHING before we buy it. Don't blame ITunes.

Re-recorded music like this overflows in the "Cheap" Bins at Big Box Stores too! Very easy to get missled! Dig for the originals! Many are out there and worth the price. These ones are not.

A number of these songs are very poor covers of the original recordings. To list the original artists is unbelievably misleading. AVOID THIS TRASH!!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE! Most of these are badly, badly, badly, done covers. Selling this as advertised by iTunes is tanamount to fraud.

Do Not purchase! This is a fantastic compilation of songs and lists the original artists. However, they are all covers of the original, not the groups and/or vocalists that made the song popular in the first place.
Found it a little disappointing, was expecting the original singers or original songs but most were not, nice reminder of songs long forgotten though
