- Wow...9 pages.

All these reviews come in, and still some people keep clinging to the wrong idea. These are the original artists. No one disputes that. But these are NOT THE ORIGINAL RECORDS. There's apparently not enough hours in a day to correct some folks, but one listen to "Precious & Few" (which someone who was a former DJ says is the real deal) can tell you that it's very clearly re-recorded. Ditto "Green Eyed Lady", ditto "More, More, More", ditto "Do You Wanna Make Love". For me, who also happens to be a former DJ, that's enough. K-Tel is scattered to all four corners of the wind as a cheap, re-recording outlet, where old acts go to die (or at least make a couple bucks off of their musical legacies before they die). This is no different than any other album of re-recorded trash they offer. Please save your money, do your homework, read reviews, listen to samples BEFORE you buy, or you might be kicking yourself later.

- Nope!

Needless to say, these are not the originals, no matter how close they may sound. Please do not buy so maybe one day Apple will stop trying to sell this crap.

- FRAUD

Not the original FRAUD

- one hit wonders

shame on me for not reading the reviews before purchasing. RIPOFF!!!! NOT the original artists. This is deceptive on the part of i-tunes not to make this point clear. Shame on you.

- One Hit Losers

Can't believe this would even be allowed on the server! What a joke.

- Whoops

Not originals. Wasted my money.

- Not original recordings!!

Buyer beware! Should have read the reviews first. A lesson learned the hard way.

- One Hit Wonders

Being new to Itunes, I have learned my lesson. I will page down to find any reviews available. Had I noticed the reviews on this item, I would have saved my money. I am so disappointed with these versions of some of my favorite oldies.. I actually logged back ontoday to review the details to see why I missed the fact the recordings were not the originals.. here I saee they are but they are re-recordings... which surprises me because only a few of the songs even came close, the rest of them sounded like cheap lounge acts covering the songs. Truly there are even a few that are absolutely terrible! I would like a refund.. Itunes can de-load this crud from my account. These renditions are poorly done. Fool me once, same on you...fool me twice... well let's just say... lesson learned!

- One hit wonders and other musings

Had to click at least one star to get posted so here goes the diatribe. It's called "buyer beware.' As a veteran i-tunes customer I have nothing but good things to say about them. The problem is with K-tel and a few other distributors. Most of their stuff is now labeled as "re-recorded" and based on long time experience, I believe that is i-tunes responding to posts. The more you brouse, the more educated you will become and be able to "move on" to other selections. Good hunting!! Also, i-tunes does not call the shots on some purchases being album only. Those are the license holders pulling the strings.

- Awful

These songs are redone and pretty bad Love Grows is done alot faster than the Org verison of the song. Indiana wants me is is song lower than it was org recorded the whole thing isn't worth 99 cents

- JUNK!

It's just a shame that iTunes would rip you off by putting this crap on here. I guess I should have listened more but I was excited about finding all these songs from my childhood. Shame on you iTunes.

- What this is

It is not the real deal. You will be disappointed. Re-recorded songs even though it is sung by the same person or band is never the same. There has only been a few occasions where the re-recorded song is better than the original. This is not one of them.

- GIve me my money back!

Give it back to me. My money. My time. I used to trust Apple but now I can see you can get scammed like we used to in the 70's from the band "One Hit Wonders." I thought these kind of things were long gone. Thanks K-Tel...I mean K-Apple.

- One Hit Wonders

Hearing deceptive re-recordings makes my blood boil. K-tel used to issue great contemporary "original" compilations during their peak years '70's -'80's. I'm kind of passionate about music - all kinds - save your $$ and look for the originals elsewhere. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of being critical for this offering - just be warned - you work too hard for your $$. Positive note: hopefully sampling the selections will help you recognize the original artists. Start with i-Tunes first in your search for the originals.

- ANOTHER RIPOFF!!

How does Apple get away with this. Nothing that says re-recorded on it and a total ripoff to consumers. I am going to write a letter to both Consumer Affairs and to the Better Business Bureau as well as my state attorney general's office. I know you don't really care at ITUNES but when people start deserting you for other non-ripoff music downloading sites, maybe you'll listen to paying customers! You are ripping people off!

- Precious and Few

Not really what I call a masterpiece. One Hit Wonders fooled me this song sounds like a ballad. Since then have purchased the orginal version. Loved paying twice.

- Junk

Total and complete waste of money. Itunes & Apple shouldn't even offer this junk on their site. Try "Freedom Rock", "Everlasting Love" , or "Rare Gold". Much better , and ORIGINAL RECORDINGS.

- DO NOT BUY THESE SONGS!

Anyone fool enough to buy these "unoriginals" will suffer serious buyer's remorse and just be filling Apple's bank account. Help all of us fans of the artists' original recordings to end this Apple iTunes scam, by NOT buying this re-recorded crap.

- Sugarloaf/Green Eyed Lady -- NOT ORIGINAL

I was surprised to find the 1 tune I bought from this album not to be an original...until I started reading the other reviews. Lesson learned --

- Worst Ever

These re-dos are so bad I could tell they weren't originals even in the 20-sec. samples of the songs. It was so bad I didn't even consider buying them. How do they make ANY money on these? Don't waste YOURS!

- Here

Download and install Wavepad sound editor - the free edition (basic) Go to utube and find the song you want start wavepad (record button) and then play the song in utube Stop wavepad once song is over, save generated file as mp3 on disk. drag/drop into itunes. Doing this is about as much a rip-off as this album is.

- BS Apple. Not cool.

Not getting my money for these re-treads.

- Kevrose33

Rerecorded don't waste your money. The original version is not to be found on here. You would think ITunes would have the original version. Crap!!

- Really Terrible

This album is pure JUNK, and shouldn't take up space on your I pod!!

- Lesson Learned

Apparently having the right band name and song title aren't enough... should have listened before I bought. Lesson learned.

- When will I learn to read reviews BEFORE I purchase!

Yep, like almost everyone else here I got screwed. I have a couple of these old '70 compilations at home. They're so lame. It's like they took a has-been Holiday Inn band, you know the one, somewhere off I-65 in Bowling Green with tired old guys re-hashing covers and said, "Have we got a deal for you! Come on into the studio and make a sucky album and we'll sell it on iTunes for all the people who won't read the album reviews!"

- Not originals!

:( should have read the reviews first...wasted money!

- Why bother with K-Tel

Why does iTunes even bother with the old K-Tel records, they were awful in the 70's and are even worse now

- An album for you only if you like short versions

It's bad enough that the version of "Green Eyed Lady" is the single (shorter) version. What is worse is that one can't even buy the longer version on iTunes.

- To all of the posters about this album

It was common practice for K-Tel to put out albums with reprise recordings or older renditions. Back in the 70s there would be door to door salesmen who would peddle these albums. I really don't blame the Apple store as such for the recordings, however, they should have a disclaimer. The lion share of the recordings on this album are not the radio versions, but considered softer LP versions. The radio stations also would speed up the records quite a bit to make them fit in the alloted time, that is why some of these sound much different.

- What is this crap?

I just wanted One Tin Soldier but there is no way I am getting this version, it sounds terrible.

- OMG! The WORST re-masters/re-mixes ever!

I WISH I'D READ THE OTHER REVIEWS about how crappy the remixes on this album are. NOT the originals AND it's hard to figure that out based on the 30-second preview. KEEP SHOPPING - this album isn't what you're looking for.

- check it out

look at the "Average Rating", and tell me these are "original" . . . . . .

- RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

The song I downloaded (Last Song) is NOT the original version. Now how do I contact iTunes to get my credit back ? This is deceptive. iTunes should be ashamed that they do not warn people when passing off inferior versions of songs. The album is entitled "One Hit Wonders" THIS VERSION OF THIS SONG WAS NOT A HIT AT ANY TIME, ANY WHERE. Shame on iTunes.

- Do not buy!

Poor recorded versions kill the original cuts. Does not sound like the original songs!

- For a classy company like Apple, this sure is a sleazy way of ripping people off

These are NOT the versions you want. These are crappy remakes of the songs you like. How do we get a refund once we download this trash and realize we've been screwed? There are LOTS of complaints about this practice, yet Apple keeps doing it.

- Give me a

So iTunes, what was the deal on this? Let's recreate some pop hits from the 1970s? Weak. And by the way, If you want to recreate these songs, you might want to do some research. When the band's lead singer is no longer living, you're not going to fool anyone by having some stand-in behind the microphone. Save your money... check out some yard sales or a good used record store. The one star is a virtual 'no star.' You can't submit a review without one. So consider the one star a zero.

- BUYER BEWARE! NOT THE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS!

THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL!

- One Hit Blunders

Terrible. Don't waste your money.

- one hit wonders

wow!!!! what a disappointment...thought i was getting original recordings..should have paid more attention..even at $5.99 i feel bad about this purchase..iTunes let me down..

- one hit wonders

RE-RECORDED. RE-WORKED. RE-TIRED.

- One Hit Wonders

Started listening to the previews & realized these were re-makes. Caveat Emptor!!!

- don't buy these fakes!

buyer beware and don't buy these fakes!!!!!!

- One Hit Wonders

Thanks for the reviews. I'm into songs from my era,the 50's and 60's, mainly. I was going to buy the album until I read about the re-recordings. What a true ripoff. I chose not to buy thanks to the reviews. I appreciate it.

- Whiners

Some people obviously didn't listen to the samples before they bought and are just not happy unless they are complaining. These sound fine and although not perfect copies of the original soings, which really 'sound' like crap, these are retouched and sound much better than the originals so don't listen to this bunch of whiners 'holier than thou' babies. Listen and enjoy them yourself. They work fine for sharing with others all this great music from those days.

- A Depressing Song To Listen To

I think "The Last Song" by Edward Bear is a very depressing song and the words from the song makes you want to commit suicide. I gave "The Last Song" a poor rating because I don't like listening to sad songs.

- NOT The Originals!

As soon as I started listening I knew something was very wrong... These may have the original vocals - or not - I am not sure, but they are definitely not the original songs that were released way back when. Where do they get this stuff? I guess that I should have known when I saw that it was "Call-Now-K-Tel" record company.

- Zero stars

This is so sad to see and hear sooo much crappola on iTunes. What a ripoff! Who in their right mind wants to hear re-tread music?

- Sugarloaf- Green Eyed Lady

Very disappointed! I downloaded this song a couple of years ago on my old Ipod and listened to it all the time. This version is different. I don't know what happened but it doesn't even sound like Sugarloaf. Bummer.....

- STOP! DON"T DL!

Boo! to iTunes for lame remakes!
