We are doing a marching band piece on "to think of a story"!!! It's awesome!
I have been a fan of Patrick Doyle since I was a young adult and watched "Frankenstein" for the first time. His music is beautiful and moving. My favorite tracks are "Please Wait" and "Wedding Night". You can't help but sway along with the movement the strings give you. Absolutely enchanting!
One of my favorite albums to one of my favorite movies. No one will regret buying this.
Patrick Doyle’s score to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is something odd and special. What I mean by that is that it is an amazing treat for the ears—out of context. I have owned this score for over 20 years (since I was a teenager) and in that two-plus decades, I have listened to it literally countless times. I know every single note. It is my favorite score in cinema history. That being said, the film itself is embarrassingly bad. Just about everything in the movie is ridiculously over the top, including the score! The music itself is really the only redeeming quality the movie has, but what is strange about that is that the music itself actually amplifies the overacting, overdramatizing, the overEVERYTHING. In the context of the film the music is just as ridiculous as the movie it was made for. Maybe that is just how it had to be. When listened to outside of the film, independently, the music is fantastic. How on earth this happened is beyond me. All I can say is this: Avoid the movie unless you’re looking for some unintentional hilarity. Grab up this film score and listen to it on its own because it is amazing when taken in alone.
Still one of the most underrated suspense/horror movies in recent memory and an even more underrated soundtrack. Patrick Doyle has recorded a slew of soundtracks and accompanying music, but this soundtrack just seems to stand head and shoulders above the others. The music flows with the movie so well that you can play through this album and see the scenes playing out in your mind. Very highly recommended!

Now for both of you who saw Kenneth Branagh's adaption of Frankenstein, you will certainly remember the music; I sure did. The film has its shortcomings but Patrick Doyle's score really elevates the element of horror that the film tries to demonstrate. Don't go expecting an amazing soundtrack, but for those who thought the movie was pretty good, the music here will not disappoint.
I truly felt that the score was the best part of this film. It did not sound like a conventional Patrick Doyle score; in fact, it reminded me of a John Williams type. The music is exciting, which is good because i don't think the film delivers in this way. The film, to me, looked as though it tried to hard. The score, on the other hand, could stand alone and still be a fantastic piece of music. It did, at parts, overpower what was being seen on screen. This may pull away from the film experience, but it pulls you away to a much more entertaining world, i think.
