Attack--9/10. Very heavy riff, very good meaning. Dreaming--8/10. Again, heavy riff. I'm not quite sure what this song means, but it's still a good song. Kill Rock N' Roll--6/10. Worst song on any album. It was sung really badly, to be honest. But I promise you, they play this 100x better live. Hypnotize--10/10. Perfect. This marks where the album starts getting a lot better. Stealing Society--7/10. I dunno...a lot of repetition. But it's decent. Tentative--11/10. Genius and emotional. If you had to get 1 song from this album, get this one. (Or one other one that I'll tell you later) U-Fig--9/10. Catchy. Holy Mountains--11/10. I have no words for how good this song is. This is the other song you HAVE to get. Vicinity of Obscinity--7/10. Weirdest song I've ever heard....O_o She's Like Heroin--8/10. It will seem like a bad song at first, but just really listen to the lyrics, and it's great. Lonely Day--9/10. Okay, Daron's not the best singer in the world, but he had to have sung this in tribute to his brother. Still, it's a very sweet, yet depressing song. Lyrics aren't the best though. Soldier Side--10/10. All very true. Extremely sad, too. You might cry when you hear this. Throughout the album, you should hear each song sort of end into the next. I really like how they did that! This is the only album that I didn't love as much as the others, but it still has some very good songs on it. Buy it now!

I have no idea why iTunes made this a pop album its not even close to pop but its really awsome! Plus I recommend getting Hypnotize and Vicinity of Obscenity cause those are my two favorite songs of the album.

I don't think anyone has noticed that this is the first half and Mesmerize is the second. The last song on this album (Soldier Side) and the first song on Mesmerize (Intro/Soldier Side) are the same and Intro/Soldier Side is linking these two albums together.

Love system serj has new stuff out that's really good

Let's face it: System Of A Down's first album is their heaviest and greatest album. Once System Of A Down got to "Mezmerize", I could see a decline. I think "Hypnotize" is their worst album, but I still love it. Anyways, let's get the review started. "Hypnotize" leads off with a fast and exciting song, "Attack", which is a great album opener, although it doesn't stand a chance against "Suite-Pee" on their self-titled album. Then comes "Dreaming", an amazing song. It's one of my favorite songs off this album. Then comes "Kill Rock N' Roll". I've seen a lot of reviews saying that this is their worst song, but it's not. It's pretty good, but has a sort of boring meaning. It's great. The highly over-rated "Hypnotize" song. It's a freaking awesome song, don't get me wrong, but there are better songs on this album. My personal favorite song on "Hypnotize" comes next. "Stealing Society" may be not that good to you, but I personally love it with all my heart, although it is under-rated. Next comes another favorite off "Hypnotize", "Tentative", although it took quite a while for me to get into it. "U-Fig" is a catchy song, but not the best. After that comes a brilliant song, "Holy Mountains". The meaning is deep, the lyrics are intelligent, and overall it's an amazing song. My personal least favorite on "Hypnotize" is next, "Victinity Of Obscenity". It's catchy but it is lacking that awesome style that System Of A Down has. "She's Like Heroin" is the same. "Lonely Day" is a very, VERY, over-rated song. It's also an amazing song like "Hypnotize", but it's mainstream. When a band like System Of A Down goes mainstream, that's a very bad sign. I love it, but they have better. "Soldier Side" is the last track on this album, but it's my second favorite song on it. It's brilliant, sad, soft, and freaking amazing. I love it with all my heart. All in all, "Hypnotize" was an amazing album, with great tracks, but it's System Of A Down's worst album. If they continued making music instead of breaking up, they would be worse. Sadly iTunes took down their self-titled album, because that's their freaking best album. But buy "Steal This Album!" or "Toxicity".

OK 1st, this is not 'Metal', this is "System of a Down", every band is original. NOw as a genre sure it can be called metal, but fact remains they are Platinum album selling artists; they are Pop as in popular. Without bias, the musical craftsmanship and musicianship of this band is never replicated and seldom matched by their contemporaries since inception.

SOAD has great songs. Wish they were still together. My 2 favorites are Lonely Day and Toxicity. BEST SONGS EVER.

1. System of a Down did break up, but Serj said he would get the band back together if he could do the album HIS WAY. He has great ideas and is creative and I think the rest of the band should give him a chance and see how he would do the album. But anyone who didn’t know, Serj does have music of his own. Serj Tankian and company are an amazing all time Rock Group! And why is because the lyrics and voice of Serj is omnipresent and bizarre! The songs seem like mish mash gibberish but that's why they're so awesome!
