Nas - God's Son

About God's Son by Nas Album

God's Son (originally titled Nasir Jones: God's Son) is the sixth studio album by American rapper Nas, released December 13, 2002 on Columbia-imprint Ill Will Records. Production was handled by several hip hop producers, including Salaam Remi, Chucky Thompson, Ron Browz, and The Alchemist. Partly inspired by Nas's feud with Jay-Z and the death of his mother in early 2002, God's Son covers lyrical themes such as religion, violence, and his own emotional experiences. It has been recognized by music writers as a personal work by Nas.

- Daryl Parker

Great album title.

- God of Hip Hop

Best rapper of all time.No other rapper is this deep and consistent at that. He is a mastermind who never does things irrationally like he said.

- Solid Album.

Still one of my favorite Nas albums to date. Keep that old school feel and message and screw all those money grabbing artists that are everywhere today. I wish guys would revert back to that 90s/Early 2000s Hip Hop style. Stay true to yourself.

- A beautiful record. I don't understand those that downgrade his lyrical skills.

5 stars

- Soooooooooooooo good.

It's just so good.

- AMAZING!!!! :)

this is real rap and not pop at all iTunes is drunk for naming it pop

- Nas is a living legend.

This is my favorite nas album after illmatic! I wish there was more lyrical rappers like nas & not like 2 chainz, tyga, & more. I recommend buying this album.

- Nas number 2

Kinda fail that iTunes puts it in pop category together with Lil Wayne,Drake and Justin Bieber lol :D

- One line is all it took

- One of my Favorites.

No doubt Nas is like one of the greastest rappers alive, but I don't like the fact that iTunes put this album as the genre:POP! Can someone please fix that? Please

- OG

Great

- Good

I love this album. the lyricism was his best, The production was clean and minimal it let you listen to what he was saying, and if you exclude the songs Hey Nas, and his version of Thugz Mansion, you end up with an album with endless replay value, but it you won't be let down

- I know I can!

and I will leave a five star rating. Listened to some older hip-hop/rap albums in my library and this is the first album I listen to. I've had this album since it came out on CDs, when CDs were the thing! Nas is one of my favorite artists and he is with the great rap artists. His songs are original and tells stories, messages and express emotions. Rap artists today rap about the typical topics (e.g. gangsta, drugs, women), but not Nas.

- This ain't pop

This is hip hop not pop. It's what I hate about iTunes. They are so dumb. It doesn't matter though cuz this is clearly one of Nas's best album. I live the song "dance". It is really sad though.

- Nas

My favorite artist of all time God's Son great album remains me of the days I was station in Kuwait.

- King of Queens forever

lets stop comparing and just enjoy an artist do his thing at the highest level, the state of hip hop is where its at because we allowed it to happen..don't buy bad music REVOLT!!! NASTY NAS in your area!!!

- 2nd best album

Life is good is wayy better

- Truly Beautiful

Nas' 2nd Best Album, this was right after his mom died, hint: the song dance, which it and Dear Mama by 2pac are the unofficial mother's day anthems of hip hop. Overall: I love almost every song on this album, my favorite track is obviously dance, it's just amazing. But why is this labeled pop?

- classic

This is nas' most underrated album. he speaks from the soul Best tracks- Get down, books of rhymes, dance, and made you look

- When did you fall in love with hip hop?

Don't really purchase much rap/hip hop, however this album is a must. Nas is extremely talented and a great storyteller. Loving him since hearing, "Black lost".

- God Son

Nas is my favorite rapper of all time..The boy dope poet and ride the beast and you can see his storys..REWIND is the greatest song ever. He rapper the entire song backwards and it still made sinceโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐Ÿพ

- Best NAS album

By far.

- Nas is the chosen one

The king is here, no nonsense, this is the best form of music you'll ever hear

- One of his best.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time and I believe it is his 2nd best album behind Illmatic though it is my personal favorite. 10/10 and I have only gave a 10/10 to Illmatic, Reasonable doubt, ready to die, enter the wu, and life after death.

- I can

I heard that dong today. Really great and influential for our youth.

- NaS

I'm really insulted and Nas is probably too that iTunes called this masterpiece, "Pop."

- It's labeled as "pop" lol change that rn!!

๐Ÿ’ฏ

- the best alive

Nas never ceases to amaze me with tracks like i can get down and made you look

- Master

Master

- Good album

Good album, never been a huge fan of Nas but this album definitely made me a fan. Also why is this classified as pop?

- Amazing

One of the best lyricist in the game . Very personal album almost made me cry . Lol Made Me Look has the hardest beats .

- God's Son (4.5 mics)

Let's face it, Nas will never produce or create an album with the musical and lyrical significance of "Illmatic", yet with "God's Son" he willingly delivers the most emotional and psychological insight that he's provided to date. There is indeed alot of significance here, perhaps it was the passing of his mother, the fragility of his NYC environment and it's blow it's suffered severely from the World Trade Center's collapse or the heated 'beef' he's encountered with rival Jay-Z at the time; here all these confronations essentially bring the best out the artist proving still as the best rap lyricist alive. The album opener "Get Down" with it's James Brown sample represent Nas at his most imaginative, to the musically noteworthy and yet bleek Eminem produced "The Cross" and the tradtional Nas track "Made You Look" shows his capability as a lyricist. He later adresses his grudge and opposition against Jay-Z on the insightful "Last Real Ni**a Alive" track produced by Ron Brownz (of which whom produced the notable diss track "Either" off "Stillmatic"), thoroughly examining his history leading to this specific point in his life and Jay/Carter's as well. More highlights include the tenacious "Zone Out" with The Bravehearts, the minorly political "I Can". If anything this album thoroughtly identfies the duality of Nas' character with the legendary 2Pac featured remix of "Thugz Mansion" to the remaining of the album uncovering the complex individual and his psychological demons and how he overcomes them with the motivational Alica Key's featured "Warrior Song" (of which she produced) and the emotional "Heaven". If anything this album is a representation of one man's psychological and emotional confronations and his intention of over coming them like some many other pieces of aesthetic art.

- Nas' Lyrical Prowess On Full Display

I chose to purchase the tracks individually, omitting Hey Nas..Zone Out..Mastermind.The removal of these three songs creates a track list with infinite playback value.I feel they put Nas' lyrical prowess on full display from start to finish.I feel this is some of Nas' best material to date.
