I have heard other versions of this classic, but what the Philadelphia Orchestra and Eugene Ormandy did for this was to bring it to life. You can see the dancing just by listening to it. I owned this when it was released on vinyl, and now I won it on CD. It's the best holiday music on my iPod!

I got this on cd back in the nineties as I was looking for a good version of The Nutcracker, but this is truly an awesome version. Great fidelity and lush arrangements played with panache. It's like a wall of sound. I had no idea the original recording is over 40 years old.

This version is great! The orchestra sounds amazing and I have yet to find another version of The Nutcracker with as much emotion behind the music.

I think dance of the tumblers was the best. I played just recently in my middle school band a little bit faster than them.
