Grease the original broadway production is way better than this revival.. I forgot how bad Rosie made this production.

I’m not a fan of Grease (I was when I was 8 or 9 but not anymore) but I know all of the songs and they’re good. This sounds NOTHING like the soundtrack from the movie but more like a production of Grease that a local dinner theatre had this summer which was absolutely HORRIBLE. (All of the shows that I’ve been to there were wonderful and were very high quality in terms of the acting, singing, dancing etc. Some of these people could be on Broadway) It’s like they took the music from this version for their production. If I wanna listen to Grease again, I would stick to the actual film because it seems like the stage/play versions don’t do it at least for me.

Caveat Emptor. This is niether the movie nor the OBC, it is the new Broadway cast. It is not the same musical I saw on Broadway in the 70's. That said, it a pleasant updating, and a few of the songs are handled superiorly to the original. Beauty School Dropout for example, is much more fun with a soul sound. Some of the voices (Danny) are not very strong and made me wish for more powerful singers. All in all, worth the listening, but just a little like flat soda. The taste is there, but it doesn't tingle.

With the exception of Megan Mullally, this has got to go down in the annals of Broadway history as one of the worst revivals and revival casts ever done. From the staging, to the costumes, to the casting of the amazingly untalented Rosie O'donnel as Rizzo (yes Rosie, there are worse things you could do...SING!), the over acting cast seem only interested in trying to make their time on stage the most memorable in the show to the point of being obnoxiously over the top. And the fact that it keeps being billed as the ORIGINAL Broadway Cast, is not only a lie, but utter blasphemy.

This is not the original Bway cast recording, but it is the best. This is from a broadway revival in the 90s. It is a stand alone production that doesnt rely on the success of the movie to drive the show. All the orchestrations and chorus parts have been revised and updated. If you're searching for the most complete and best recording of this show, go with this one.

Depite it's title and release date someone messed up all the songs are from the NEW broadway play, which you can also purchase on iTunes! Will be fighting for my money back!

This is the 1994 revival of grease, and not the original cast. This revival keeps all of the same songs as the original production, though, and doesn't incorporate any of the movie songs like the 2007 revival. Just thought people should know... iTunes doesn't have the OBCR.

Sandy and Danny aren't that strong. I really love the song Since I Don't Have You but Sandy sounds very whiny and nasal. Rosie Odonell ruins pretty much any song she's in. And yes this isn't the original broadway cast, it's from the 1994 revival, I have the cd, iTunes doesn't have the OBR. The soulful rendition of Beauty School Dropout, the more upbeat, fun version of Those Magic Changes, and Mooning, really saves it.

look, this is THE ORIGINAL grease. dont compare it to the movie- because the MOVIE is the one that changed all the music. i strongly prefer this to the movie, because the movie added songs that stink and took away songs that rock.SO please dont pass this over just cause its not what you're used to. you'll like it, i promise.

I’ve been loving “Grease” for over 40 years now & I’ve heard many different casts. Some good - some bad. THIS, however, is THE WORST! Maybe I was too excited to hear the interpretations of Rosie, Trace, & such. They aren’t just disappointing, they’re DREADFUL. Really make one’s ears bleed. This is NOT the “Original Broadway Cast”! How dare the moguls responsible mistreat as so! If this was the “Original Broadway Cast we would not still be seeing this (usually) pleasing musical. Good job Megan Mulally. The rest, WOOF! Find ANOTHER recording. DO NOT purchase!!! 🤨

I love this cast recording! Not the original but still good. I love the rock style version of beauty school dropout. Since I don't have you is amazing. Very fun! Get it!

NOT the original broadway album. i'm disappointed. I remember it precisely and these versions are not as good as the original album. why would the rerecord the REAL orginal b'way production. so screwed up.

I am very disapointed that the OCR is not on Itunes. I typed in "Grease original cast recording" and this is what I got! This is not the OCR. That title that says it is, is misleading. Look at the top of the CD cover. It says "The New Broadway Cast Recording!" Can't you read. I am very upset with this and until it gets taken down I will be emailing and writing reviews all over to let this be known. Get the OCR. Learn the facts!

People this is the 90's revival of grease. The original was done in 1971.

Although I do like most of this version, it is NOT the original like the first review states. The movie was released in 1978. This recording was done in 1994. So yes... this isn't really the "original", but it is a fun version.
