Bells2828 - So sweet ... brings back memoriesIn elementary school, whenever I would walk by my principal, he would go "Veronicaaaaa" ( like in the song ) and say that there was a song about me. Of course I didn't believe him,not having been an Elvis Costello fan when I was little, but during the summer between fifth and sixth grades I looked up the song 'Veronica' on Itunes, previewed each result, and found this one. I was ecstatic that I could keep something of him while I left his school and went to middle school and many years later, I still have it. ;) <3
Mr. Zuckerman - A GREAT ALBUM!I first discovered Elvis Costello when I heard the song "Veronica" on "Pop Up Video." And ever since I've been a Costello fan. The best tracks are "Veronica" and "Let Him Dangle" But give the other tracks a listen; they're very good and make great use of horns.

Peaceful Persona - SpikeSpike is the best Elvis Costello album/ CD from the 90's. This is the end of a great progression from great earlier albums from the 80's--Trust/ Imperial Bedroom/ Punch the Clock--but is a bit more ambitious, tackling complex arrangements and styles. Not much like it until When I Was Cruel. Worth a listen--I've played it frequently for 20yrs and never tire of it.
Bobcatdancing - Bittersweet, Biting, Bouncy and LovelyElvis Costello is one of those people whose surface is deceiving. The more layers you pull back, the more reasons there are to love this guy. The song Veronica is a prime example. On surface, it’s popish and uptempo until you realize the story behind the song and how touchingly he tells that story to Rolling Stone about his grandmother’s dementia and his grandfather reaching through the fog with music and making a difference and how it ties into the charity that gives downloaded iPods to folks with Alzheimer disease and related dementia and how they respond in such a joyful way to well loved and familiar music. My own mother has very little short term memory. I am her primary care giver and it can be maddening at times telling her the same things over and over and over. Music does help and we are very lucky in that she remembers who her family is, is in great physical shape at 96 and does word search puzzles every day. I’ve been an Elvis Costello fan for years and it’s really cool that you can discover an album from almost 30 years ago that makes you appreciate the artist, and life, even more. I hope I never have these issues having seen other relatives struggle with them but if I do, let’s hope there is plenty of Elvis Costello music downloaded on my iPod.

My dad is a huge fan and introduced me 2 his music first. When i was like three, i used 2 dance around 2 "The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes" from his abum, 'My Aim is True'. Now that im older, I've grown into liking his music even more. Elvis Costello is one of the most amazing lyrical and musical geniuses of the 20th centruy and beyond. Listening to the popular (and most-known) track "Veronica", which is a collaboration with Paul McCartney of the Beatles, might sell you on this album. The moving, "Last Boat Leaving" is thought-provoking and one of my favorites as well. I've told my friends who just don't get my love of this music that Elvis Costello is an "accquired taste" and I wouldn't have it any other way. Some might decide to buy only some tracks off this album, but I say buy the whole thing!!! Its worth it and you'll enjoy it! I did :)
IMalukisI - Timeless DeclanBaby Plays Around, Last Train leaving, Any King’s Shilling…some great classic Costello lyrics and tunes. I love all his work yet this album is one that I listen to frequently, it always fresh!
